Calendar stopped updating after OS X Mavericks

Just bought a MacBook Air. After upgrading to Mavericks, the Calendar will no longer sync with icloud. The info is stuck in time. Mail and notes are synchronized.  How do you fix the Calendar to update and sychronized with my iMac and other Apple devices?

Thanks!  But seriously why have Apple disabled the info sync on iTunes?  By 'Upgrading' to Mavericks I've inadvertantly disabled my Apple mobile devices from fulfilling their function.  Come on Apple work with us here!!
Apple told developers they were removing that service over two years ago. The developers that depended upon it should have done something about it.
Why did they remove it? My guess is because it was pretty crappy, was difficult to maintain, and wasn't a good solution for multiple devices that could get the info without tethering to a "base" Mac.

  • Why did my mouse stop scrolling after upgrading to mavericks?

I have completely lost all ability to scroll with my Apple Magic Mouse after upgrading to Mavericks.   Why did this happen?   How can it be fixed?    It worked fine with Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion.

    Everyone:
I was able to solve my own problem, after scouring the Internet looking for solutions.  Sadly, the Apple Support Community was of no help.
    Here's the full story:
I originally had purchased my iMac with Snow Leopard installed.   I loved it just the way it was, and really did not ever want to upgrade.  However, I've been around computers long enough to know that I would HAVE to do it someday, only because of the age old problem of wanting to run some new application in the future, but not being able to, becasue the app would only run on the latest version of OS X.  I reluctantly upgraded to Mountain Lion less than a year ago, without too many problems -- nothing I wasn't able to fix fairly easily anyway.  When Mavericks came out, with the "offer I could not refuse" price of FREE, I knew I would eventually have to install it.
So the day comes when I'm finally ready to install Mavericks.  To get ready for that day, I did the following:
I ran CCleaner on Mountain Lion to clear out any old files accumulated.  (No longer works in Mavericks)
Made sure my Time Machine backup was up to date
Cleared out gigbytes of old files off my hard drive, and archived them on an external USB drive
Made sure every single app on my iMac was fully upgraded.
Made sure Mountain Lion itself was fully upgraded!
I then set aside a full day for the upgrade, knowing full well how long it could take, even with a very fast internet connection.  Eventually I worked up the courage to go to the App Store, and proceded to download Mavericks.
The update seemed to go smoothly enough, no problems that I noticed.  So I finally get to the point where I can sign on to my iMac again, opened up the Chrome browser, and found out that my mouse was was unable to scroll.  I then opened up Firefox and Safari, and found that I could not scroll pages on those browsers either. As a matter of fact, I couldn't scroll using my mouse no matter what app I tried.  That feature was completely lost.
I went to ' System Preferences --> Mouse ' to look at the settings, and only the most basic settings were available: click and speed, nothing at all for scrolling or swiping.   That's not good....
Looking to see if anything else was missing in System Preferences, I saw that there was no option for Blue Tooth at all.  As a matter of fact, Blue Tooth was completely inoperative, and there was literally nothing I could do to make it work.  The Mavericks upgrade had completely trashed Blue Tooth on my iMac.  I have no idea how my wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse were even operational, Apple must have some sort of "back door" that keeps those two connected even when the entire Blue Tooth subsystem is off-line.
Since there was absolutely no way to fix this, given the damage done by the Mavericks upgrade, my only choice was to do a complete re-install of Mavericks.  I did this by turning off my iMac, and then after turning it back on, I held down the command + R keys to initiate the "recovery" of my iMac, and re-installed Mavericks. There are screens the are displayed that walk you through the process, which is fairly easy and strait-forward.
This above process is a feature called OS X Recovery, and it has been present since Lion.  Here's a link to an article that explains it more fully:
OS X: About OS X Recovery
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
I did not know about this feature, but found out about it after doing various web searches in an effort to find a solution to my problem.
So, I basically ended up installing Mavericks a second time.  This took hours to accomplish, but it worked.   After the second installation, I signed on, and sure enough, Blue Tooth was back in operation, and my Magic Mouse worked without any problems what so ever.  I had full scrolling ability in all my apps.
So OS X Recovery saved the day, at least for me.
I should note that before doing the Mavericks upgrade on my iMac, I had already performed the upgrade on a family member's MacBook, without any problems encountered at all.   They were still running Snow Leopard, the orignal OS that came with their MacBook!  Like me they were reluctant to upgrade, but eventually it becomes a necessary evil.
Here's hoping that this information may be of use to someone in the future.

  • Mail app stopped working after upgrade to Mavericks

    Dear All,
I have updated from Mountain Lion (Macbook Pro 3,1, 256SSD) to Mavericks, and mail app stopped working.
That means - when I click the icon - the app does not work.
I can see that it downloads mail - as when I click it I receive notifcation that it has downloaded some mail, however I cannot open window. Sometimes I manage to open it, but it is totally unresponsive - I cannot change or click anything in it.
I have tried repairing disk permissions but without any success.
Moreover if I run mail app and try to click "new message" from the top bar, the window that appears is somewhat mixed with my wallpaper backround (I can see fragments of it).
Please help me, as I had there a few gigs of precious mails that I don't want to lose...
    Thank you in advance!
    Olek

    Do a backup.
Take notes of all account information or take screen shots. You may need to set the accounts up again. Quit Mail.
    Copy the line below.
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Select Go/Go To Folder from the Finder menu bar. Paste the line into the window. You won’t see it.
Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.
    Information learned from Linc Davis.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
Show User Library Directory in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion & 10.8 Mountain Lion
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after every update. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Calendar stops displaying after May 2012

I used to sync my touch's calendar with my outlook calendar (version 2003). I have since switched to Google calendar and it works great. What I did notice however, is that after May 2012, the calendar no longer displays anything on my touch. I have repeating events (birthdays, eg)that never expire. I can see them on my touch IF I go into 'month' view but if I 'list', nothing displays after May 2012. I can see them on Google calendar. As a test, I made an appointment in February 2013 and it displays on the touch calendar in 'list' view? Why does the touch stop displaying? I know that Outlook (v. 2003) only displays statutory holidays up to 2012 but I no longer use Outlook. Hmmmmmm.

It looks like I've solved my own problem. It appears that the calendar only shows you so many months into the future - which is approx. 2 years. When I first posted this question, it was May. My touch's calendar showed my up to May 2012. I've looked at my touch's calendar yesterday and it now displays up to June 2012.

  • My iPhone calendar stopped working after I upgraded to iCloud

I just upgraded my iMac to Lion and moved from MobileMe to iCloud. Everything is working fine between iCloud and the iMac and the iPhone 4 except the calendar on the iPhone 4 no longer works. Specifically it does not sync with iCloud, it does not show all the calendars that i have on iCloud (it just says All Calendars when i go into calendar). I can't add any events to the phone's calendar nor refresh them because the '+' button disappeared as well as the 'calendars' button. When I turn off the calendar under the iCloud settings those buttons reappear. I have tried turning the phone off and on as well as turning the calendar off and on in iCloud settings but nothing seems to work. If anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful. Thanks

Andra - I gave up on Apples attempts to sync calendars over the air after Mobile Me wiped out my precious work calendar a few times. I switched to Google Calendar Sync for iPhone which works perfectly and means I dont expose my work calendar to Apples unreliable over the air sync service. I cant speak for iCloud as after buying the iPhone 4S recently with a promise that iCloud is the 'all new reliable  better-than-MobileMe' sync service - I now learn I cannot use it unless i have Lion and Windows 7 OS's - neither of which I can have. Thanks Apple. Not!
I can recommend Google Calendar Sync on the basis that it works fine for me over the air sync, and as I said, has been very reliable compared to the destruction Mobile Me inflicted on my calendars.

  • Macbook pro optical drive stopped working after installation of mavericks

macbook pro optical drive stopped working, just spins and won't eject, ever since I upgraded to Mavericks, thoughts?

  • Opening multiple tabs freezes ff and the tabs stop updating after a while

If I middle click on a folder of bookmarks, to open them all in new tabs, they will open and start loading to the point where all of them have titles (names of the webpages loading) and some have some content.
Then, firefox will completely stop loading content and just sit there. Closing the tabs and opening new websites or tabs doesnt work. The only fix is to restart firefox.
I have tried doing this is Chrome and it works fine.
This used to work in Firefox, but with a recent "update" stopped working"
    I have updated my addons.
I do use NoScript but even disabling that didn't help.
I tried doing the same with a different bookmarks folder and got teh same issue.

Been having the exact same problem, open as little as 2 tabs quickly at the same time, and they lose connectivity and stop loading. Chrome/Opera/Safari all work fine, just firefox I've been having troubles with. What is something we could try to fix this?? At this stage I'm going to have to convert browsers!

  • Mouse and keybord stopped working after upgrading to Mavericks.

Since upgrading from snow Leopard to Mavericks, the Apple USB keyboard and mouse nolonger work on my Mac Pro. I've tried booting in safe mode sucsessfuly, but the keyboard and mouse still don't work. Can anybody help me please?
    Thanks,

Test the devices with another computer, if possible. If they work, or if you can't test, see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • IWeb has stopped updating after edit

I can change the site in iWeb, save it, then publish it. When I go to the site on the web, none of the changes have taken effect. When I check it out by saving to folder, it has saved, and the changes are indeed there. iWeb seems to publish it as I can see it going through all the pages and the newly added ones as it publishes - but none of the changes appear.
Looking through other posts here, there are people with the same problem but I haven't come across anyone who has an answer. Emptying the cache does nothing, neither does trashing prefs.
It was OK yesterday but today it's on strike!
    Help!!
    Chris

Not sure if this will help, but i have had iweb do some crazy things display wise when i have made lots of updates. Strangely i do a save and slow shutdown restart and it all seems to come good. Seems to clear the cache or something?.
    Worth a try maybe.

  • Podcasts stop updating in itunes 12

Recently I have had to manually keep updating my list of podcasts to get new episodes to download. Even when I use the refresh button it will not show new episodes even if new episodes are available, I have to right-click on each podcast and "View in iTunes" to retrieve new episodes.
I understand that podcasts will stop updating after 5 unplayed episodes but does that mean 5 total? Or per podcast? I usually update once a week and listen to around 7 different podcasts so some of these will have a couple unplayed every week before I mark them as played. (I listen on my iPod classic, not sure if this is relevant)
How do I ensure that my iTunes keeps updating the podcasts without using that external script I have seen circulating?
When iTunes 12 was first released all of my podcasts seemed to update with successful regularity. The past couple weeks it hasn't refreshed podcasts successfully at all.
    Any ideas?

Pretty much the same problem here. Podcasts are set to update every hour. For some reason in iTunes 11 it would not work at all. Updating to 12.0.1. seemed to fix the problem...at least for a month or so. Now it will not update podcasts, even manually. At the current time, I have to mount each podcast in iTunes Store, look to find new episodes, and try to download them that way -- so far the success rate on that is 75%, compared to 0% when using the Refresh button or manually right-clicking and selecting "Refresh Podcast".
With the number of podcasts in my queue, it's not very practical to mount each one in the Store (some would have to be done daily). I have no "unplayed episode" issue to worry about (I listen to them all -- being accidentally retired makes that easy to deal with).

  • Info structures S031, S032 & S033 stopped updating since 09/2009.

    Hello friends,
In our DEV system, Info Strucres S031, S032 & S033 stopped updating after 09/03/2009.  There are material documents after that date, but infostrucres are not updated.   All these info structures are active, and all their requirements are also active.  So, what could have gone wrong - how to resolve this ?   BTW, in QAS and PRD, these info structures are being updated.  Kindly help.
    Thanks,
    - Chetan

    HI,
The structures are always updated when you execute a transaction that is supposed to update the struture, almost real time. The small technical difference: it is updated asynchronous.
Means you have a time difference of a few milliseconds to seconds from the synchronous posting of a material document and its update in the infostructure.
And if the update of the infostructure fails for some technical reason, then this would have no impact to the original material document. In other words, an update error of an infostructure can lead to inconsistencies.
Tthe regeneration of the infostructure is certainly the way to get the info back to have good numbers in the infostructures. However, you have to investigate first why you have this inconsistencies and what caused them, then you have to make sure that this failure will not happen again (maybe by implementing an OSS note), and then you can think about regenerating the infostructure.
For re-generation, nobody must post anything that updates this infostructure, and the re-generation can last some hours, so it is not a task that can be executed every week.
    Regards
    KK

  • Activity Monitor Stops Updating

First post here.. thanks for any help
I've been using OSX Leopard since release, and for some reason Activity Monitor stops updating after a while. Sometimes after 10 minutes or 20 minutes. Then my processes stop updating, including stuff in the process list and any summary info below it such as disk activity, memory activity, etc. I use the floating CPU window as well (cmd-4) which continues to update, but doesn't behave well with Spaces which is another gripe of mine but not the point of this post.
By going and changing the refresh rate, it starts responding again, though it's easier to simply quit and reopen the app. This is a big issue for me as I leave Activity Monitor open 24/7 and having to open/close it constantly throughout the day is bothersome.
Oh, and for my install, I did a fresh install and updated to 10.5.1. I'm on a Dual-quad core 3.0ghz Mac. Many thanks.

I also trashed the plist file and it worked for a little while but then back to the previous behavior which is not refreshing the process table list, or network traffic, or disk activity, the only thing that keeps on refreshing is the CPU history.

  • Calendar not updating from iCloud

My iPhone is version 4 with IOS 5. I turned on iCloud and all worked well to start with. Suddenly the calendar stopped updating and has not done so since. I have tried a complete reset with no improvement. Has anyone else had that problem?

Have you tried looking in settings/notifications at where Calendar is listed it might be moved into 'Not in Notification Center' apps don't know why. I had this happen with another app.
    Hope this helps

  • Upgraded to Mavericks - and iCloud.   Calendar will not stop 'updating' - and has not synced all entries across all devices/calendars.

    Hello Apple Support Community;
I am looking for some help on several matters related to my upgrade to OS X Mavericks this week.   THIS issue is one related to CALENDAR.
I believe that I have done everything (as instructed) to install, activate, and sync contacts and calendars via iCloud - immediately following my upgrade to Mavericks earlier this week.   When I opened CALENDAR for the first time - from the Dock on my computer (not the iCloud calendar) - after upgrading to Mavericks and setting up iCloud - CALENDAR provided a pop-up notification stating "Moving calendars to server account..." with a moving "candy cane" progress bar.
This has been "updating" for about 12 hours, now.   And while open and "updating" - it will not allow ANY other commands, scrolling, or menu options.   Additionally, I am unable to close this calendar of the Mac, unless I 'Force Quit'.   I have, in fact, executed Force Quit, and restarted the Mac.   No change... it still "updates".
When I open the iCloud calendar - it opens and works (mostly).   There are events on my iPhone 5 that are not on the iCloud calendar.   And there are events on the iCloud calendar that are not on my iPhone.   I have created new calendar events on each calendar account (iCloud on my Mac and iPhone 5) - and they seem to automatically update each device.   There does not seem to be any obviously rationale for the inconsistency of the calendar (iCloud and iPhone).
Can you offer ideas for possible solutions to:
    1)  the "permanently updating" calendar from the Dock on my Mac?
    2)  ensure that all events are properly synced across all calendar accounts (and devices)?
    THANK YOU!!

Hello Phil... I got nothing from the Apple Communities.   May have been very hard to diagnose via my description - or hard to resolve given many possible solutions.
The perpetually updating scroll-bar-of-death continued for about a week.
I DID (finally) get resolution from the Genius Bar in my local Apple Store.   They deleted all prior "local" calendar back-ups and content - as I had my Calendar up on iCloud - which essentially "reset" the calendar function... and then reloaded the calendar, and then pulled in my calendar data from iCloud.
They twisted and tweaked a few more things that I was not able to follow (sorry I cannot offer more assistance on these other things).
    They also reloaded Mavericks.
Everything seems to be working well now.
Apple Community... any more guidance for Phil - and others???
    Good luck, Phil.
