Call event handler programatically

Hi, I have a function that handles a change event from a
combo box. The problem is that, I also want to call the function
from within the program, but the function is waiting for a change
event. Is it possible to call an event handler
programatically?

if you're not using the event that is passed to the event
handler, then you can initialise the event to null, which means
that Flash won't worry if no event is passed to the event handler,
and you could either call this as a function or use it as an event
handler eg:
function comboChange(event:Event=null):void
if you were using the event handler(which is probably the
best idea to target the combo from event.currentTarget rather than
directly in case you want to extend this handler in future), then
it might be nicer to do this sort of thing:

    hi,
    1)    You can make the method EH_ONSELECT as public and static and call this method in viewGS_CM/ADDDOC  using syntax
        impl class name of view GS_CM/DOCTREE=>EH_ONSELECT "method name.
                 or
    2)The view GS_CM/ADDDOC which contains EH_ONSELECT method has been already enhanced, so I can't execute such kind of operation one more time.
                         or
    3)If both views or viewarea containing that view are under same window , then you can get the instance ofGS_CM/DOCTREE from view GS_CM/ADDDOC  through the main window controller.
    lr_window = me->view_manager->get_window_controller( ).
        lv_viewname = 'GS_CM/DOCTREE '.
      lr_viewctrl ?=  lr_window ->get_subcontroller_by_viewname( lv_viewname ).
    Now you can access the method of view GS_CM/DOCTREE .
    Let me know in case you face any issues.

  • How to call a static method from an event handler

    Hi,
       I'm trying to call a static method of class I designed.  But I don't know how to do it.  This method will be called from an event handler of a web dynpro for Abap application.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thx in advance.
    Hamza.

    To clearly specify the problem.
    I have a big part code that I use many times in my applications. So I decided to put it in a static method to reuse the code.  but my method calls functions module of HR module.  but just after the declaration ( at the first line of the call function) it thows an exception.  So I can't call my method.

  • Event handler of inbound plug not called when plug fired by event handler

    Hello All,
    I have a rather bizzare problem, hopefully someone out there can figure out what is going on, as I'm rather stumped.
    I have 2 views, A and B. They are linked by plugs, InA, InB, OutToA, OutToB. OutToB is linked to InB from A to B, OutToA is linked to InA from B to A.
    There is an onActionLink in view A. Clicking on this triggers an action which calls the wdFirePlugOutToB method.
    In view B some handling is done in the method onPlugInB, then wdFirePlugOutToA is called to change the displayed view back to A.
    As far as the user is concerned they don't ever see view B. (this bit works perfectly!)
    Now also in view A I have an event handler which handles a event from the component controller. It also calls wdFirePlugOutToB.
    If I trigger an event in the component controller this event handler is called and the method called. However, when I put a breakpoint in the onPlugInB, flow never reaches here. Flow does get to the wdDoModifyView of view B but never to the inbound plug event handler.
    Any suggestions as to what I might need to do? I would have thought calling the wdFirePlugOutToB method would ALWAYS trigger the linked event handler onPlugInB.
    I am running NW04 SP18.
    Thanks!

    Hi Bharathwaj,
    The project I'm working on has a requirement to allow for a road-mapped process (FPM) which has one step in which multiple screens can be accessed. I'll give an example: A user in step A selects the cost centre that they want to work with, in step B they need to maintain several pages of information about this cost centre. The do not want to break this information into steps, as there is no logical progression from one step to the next, and it may well be that the user wishes to go from maintaining screen 1 to screen 3, and then screen 2, and then screen 4. Stepping between all screens (1->2->3->2->3->4) wastes time and is not very user friendly. Step C of the process confirms the data that the user entered in step B, and Step D is the validation that the changes have been committed to the database. (a very familar 4 step process for those using ESS).
    To allow for this requirement, I have designed a left navigation pane type screen. links appear on the left of the screen and the user can use these to navigate between different screens (implemented as FPM IVAC VCs) on the right of the screen.
    It is quite an elegant solution (even if I do say so myself although quite complex to implement. I have relied very heavily on reading the code SAP put together for the FPM. The most complex part is that in order to update the the content of view containers in an application you must trigger a web dynpro view navigation by firing a plug to a different view.
    Unfortunately I don't have any sample application code, only the finished product, which I can't really share. But I can say that if you look at the FPM code carefully, working from where the wdInit of the FPM is called, it will eventually make sense.
    One thing I found slightly frustrating, you can't use the FPM's component usage register (FPM method attachComponentUsage(IWDComponent, IWDComponentUsage)) to add a VC... darned inconvienient really (you'd think that the web dynpro framework could have implemented the concept of extending an interface, but the IBLC and IVAC interfaces are different! - even though the IVAC is just IBLC + a few methods), but then again you can manage the instantiation of the used VC yourself and call the onInit method of the VC passing the current fpm reference, to attach it to a common FC, and given that you should be sharing context through the FC and never the VC, then really this isn't too much of an issue. (I spent ages worrying that I couldn't add the instances of the VC that I was using within my navigation pane VC to the fpm instance list, until I realised that it really didn't matter!)
    One day - when I have time (yeah right!) I might put together a blog about this sort of stuff, in the meantime, it keeps me plenty busy enough not to have the time!
    Hope this helped in some small way,
    Cheers,
    Chris

  • Call to pl/sql from java event-handler

    How can I call pl/sql procedure or function from java-script event handler
    Thanks,
    Anna

    Anna,
    You cannot call any arbitrary PLSQL code from the forms, only "standard"/custom event handlers can be called through do_event Javascript fuction, syntax :
    do_event(this.form,this.name,1,'ON_CLICK,'');
    where:
    1 - button intstance, if you have more than one instance of the same button on the screen this should be 2,3,4.....
    'ON_CLICK' - is the predefined event type
    '' - the last argument is any user defined string which will passed down to the PLSQL event handler.
    Thanks,

  • How to call the event handler of other application....?

    Hi,
    I am working  on two applications.
    Now  i need to call a Event handler from my first application to my second application.
    I need a same process in this aaplication also. So i need to call the event handler of that application.
    So, Kindly tell me about the process to call the even handler of another application.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Prithivi

    hi,Prithivi..
    Unfortunately, as far as i know, i should tell you that : you cann't call the event-hanlder in another Application if the 2 applicaions are run in different IE browser...
    If your 2 component are used in the same IE browser, maybe you can make one interface event, and trigger it in one component, then handle the event in the second component(by reimplemented the former)...
    However, from your description, i think, you want to trigger the event handler in another application in different IE Browser...
    So, very upset..We cann't communicate between the 2 applications, as far as i know...
    Best wishes.

    after data change, the event handler method is getting called as many times
    i ve navigated....for toolbar actions i used befor user command event and

  • How to call a default procedure from event handling...

    Hello All,
    I am new to Oracle Application Server Portal. I have created a form and I want to update the table using custom update button. can any body tell me how to call the default doUpdate procedure from event handling..

    This should help:
    - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/portal.1014/b14135/pdg_portletbuilder.htm#BABFIHIF
    Cheers,
    Mick.

  • Calling the on(press) event handler

    Preface
    Typically when you set an event handler function for buttons by code, like:
    mybutton.onPress = function(){
             trace("Hello!");
    you can access and call this event handler function by:
    mybutton.onPress();
    and it will execute the function and trace "Hello!".
    Question
    But when you set event handlers on the button itself, like:
    on(press){
             trace("Hello!");
    is that event function accessible from code? how? I know there would be a property that you can access it by, maybe we can "decompile" an SWF to check out finally which property it stores the event code in, or would any of you have any idea?
    mybutton.onPress();   // This does not work!

    I don't know why, but I think it is like this. When you call the onPress() function, it will find a function called onPress, which is the onPress = function(). If you are just curious to know the answer, it is fine. If you really want to solve the problem, make a function ( for example pressed), and use mybutton.pressed(). And at the on(press) code, simply add pressed();

  • 'Call' in PL/SQL button event handler

    I have created a form with only one 'Custom' button on it.
    In the PL/SQL button event handler, in 'Custom' event item, I
    inserted some PL/SQL code and, at the end, a call like the
    following:
    my_url:= 'PORTAL30.wwv_component_control.run_as_portlet?'
    || 'p_module_id=' || '2836550185';
    call(my_url,return_url);
    I have a compilation error:
    "PLS-00201: identifier 'CALL' must be declared"
    I also tried to put this code in 'On successful submission of a
    form'. I have no compilation error but it doesn't work.
    Anybody knows hw to solve this problem?
    Thanks.

    Hello Antonnella,
    I have a good tip for you:
    write the next scirp in the 'On successful submission of a
    form'field in the form where you want to call the component:
    declare
    l_url varchar2(2000);
    begin
    l_url := 'the url of the component you want to call' ;
    PORTAL30.wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url,'CALL');
    end;
    you can get the url from:
    develop -> call interface:show -> Example of Call from URL .
    Success,
    Haseeb

  • Better to call HTTPService send() in creationComplete or initialize event handler???

    I think that depends on how much stuff your program has to

  • Copying text to the clipboard in AVDocDidOpen event handler causes Acrobat 9 to crash

    I'm trying to copy the filename of a document to the clipboard in a plugin with my AVDocDidOpen event handler.  It works for the first file opened; however when a second file is opened, Acrobat crashes.  The description in the application event log is: "Faulting application acrobat.exe, version 9.1.0.163, faulting module gdi32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5698, fault address 0x000074cc."
    I've confirmed that the specific WIN32 function that causes this to happen is SetClipboardData(CF_TEXT, hText);  When that line is commented out and remaining code is left unchanged, Adobe doesn't crash.
    Is there an SDK function that I should be using instead of WIN32's SetClipboardData()?  Alternately, are there other SDK functions that I need to call be before or after I call SetClipboardData()
    Bill Erickson

    Leonard,
    I tried it with both "DURING, HANDLER, END_HANDLER" and "try catch," as shown below.  However, it doesn't crash in the event handler; it crashes later, so the HANDLER/catch block is never hit.
    The string that's passed to SetClipboardData() is good, because I'm able to paste it into the filename text box of the print dialog when I try to create the "connector line" PDF.  I also got rid of all the string manipulation and tried to pass a zero-length string to the clipboard but it still crashes.
    Here's the code:
    ACCB1 void ACCB2 CFkDisposition::myAVDocDidOpenCallback(AVDoc doc, Int32 error, void *clientData)
        PDDoc pdDoc = AVDocGetPDDoc(doc);
        char* pURL = ASFileGetURL(PDDocGetFile(annotDataRec->thePDDoc));
        if (pURL)    {
            if (strstr(pURL, "file://") && strstr(pURL, "Reviewed.pdf")) {
                // Opened from file system so copy filename to clipboard for connector line report
                char myURL[1000];
                strcpy(myURL, pURL);
                ASfree(pURL);    // Do this before we allocate a Windows handle just in case Windows messes with this pointer
                pURL = NULL;
                HGLOBAL hText = GlobalAlloc(GMEM_MOVEABLE, 1000);
                if (hText)    {
                    try
                        // Skip path info and go right to filename
                        char *pText = (char *)GlobalLock(hText);
                        char *pWork = strrchr(myURL,'/');
                        if (pWork)    {
                            strcpy(pText, pWork+1);
                        } else {
                            strcpy(pText, myURL);
                        char *pEnd = pText + strlen(pText);    // Get null terminator address
                        // Replace "%20" in filename with " "
                        pWork = strstr(pText, "%20");
                        while (pWork)    {
                            *pWork = ' ';
                            memmove(pWork+1, pWork+3, (pEnd - (pWork+2)));
                            pWork = strstr(pText, "%20");
                        // Append a new file extension
                        pWork = strstr(pText, ".pdf");
                        *pWork = 0;    // truncate the string before ".pdf"
                        strcat(pWork,".Connectors.pdf");
                        GlobalUnlock(hText);     // Must do this BEFORE SetClipboardData()
                        // Write it to the clipboard
                        OpenClipboard(NULL);
                        EmptyClipboard();
                        SetClipboardData(CF_TEXT, hText);     // Here's the culprit
                        CloseClipboard();
                        GlobalFree(hText);
                    } catch (char * str) {
                        AVAlertNote(str);
            if (pURL)
                ASfree(pURL);

  • Input value given on web page is not getting pickedup in event handler

    Hi friends,
    I have created one simple page in SE80 with program with flow logic option, in which I would like to show business partner details from BUT000 table with the input of partner number. But the thing is the input value(partner no.)which I am giving on web page is not getting picked up in selection in event handler though I am giving input value it is becoming initial while selecting. What could be the reason?
    Below I am mentioning the code which I have written in even handler for OnInputProcessing event.
    CASE EVENT_ID.
    WHEN 'select'.
    NAVIGATION->SET_PARAMETER( 'partner' ).
    SELECT * FROM but000 INTO TABLE I_but000 WHERE partner BETWEEN partner AND partner1.
    WHEN OTHERS.
    ENDCASE.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    Hi Abhinav,
    I tried with the one you posted. But it is giving run time error as shown below.
    Note
    The following error text was processed in the system CRD : Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.
    The error occurred on the application server crmdev_CRD_00 and in the work process 0 .
    The termination type was: RABAX_STATE

  • Swing: when trying to get the values from a JTable inside an event handler

    Hi,
    I am trying to write a graphical interface to compute the Gauss Elimination procedure for solving linear systems. The class for computing the output of a linear system already works fine on console mode, but I am fighting a little bit to make it work with Swing.
    I put two buttons (plus labels) and a JTextField . The buttons have the following role:
    One of them gets the value from the JTextField and it will be used to the system dimension. The other should compute the solution. I also added a JTable so that the user can type the values in the screen.
    So whenever the user hits the button Dimensiona the program should retrieve the values from the table cells and pass them to a 2D Array. However, the program throws a NullPointerException when I try to
    do it. I have put the code for copying this Matrix inside a method and I call it from the inner class event handler.
    I would thank you very much for the help.

  • Enhance standard class with event handler method

    In trying to enhance a standard class with a new event handler class, I find that the ECC 6.0 EHP4 system does not appear to recognise the fact the method is an event handler method.  The specific example is a new method to handle the event CL_GUI_ALV_GRID->USER_COMMAND.
    I notice that the flag called Active has not been ticked - see image below.  Perhaps this is the reason why the event handler is not being triggered.
    Note that there is an event handler for the same event in the standard class which obviously is executed as expected.  Any ideas on limitations in the system or I am missing a step?
    Thanks
    John

    Thank you for your replies.
    There is a bug in the ALV handler of a standard SAP class (when executed in ITS WebGUI) and I was hoping to create a custom event handler as an Enhancement to execute some custom code to sort of "handle the bug".
    I agree - ideally it should be done in a Z class but that will not give me access to the object methods and attributes of the enhanced class.
    Cheers,
    John
