Call gcc.exe with java
Hi there:
I need help. I am trying to write a program that compiles *.c file(s) and capture the compilation result. Here is what I tried:
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(srcFile));
fileName = br.readLine();
System.out.println(fileName);
Runtime rt1 = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process proc1 = rt1.exec("cmd /c C:/jdk1.3.1_07/bin/gcc "+fileName); //***here is the problem ***
InputStream inp = proc1.getInputStream();
int charIn1;
while( (charIn1 = inp.read()) != -1 )
System.out.print( (char)charIn1 );
Here GCC should show compilation errors because I planted syntax errors in my test *.c file. But for some reason nothing gets displayed on the screen. Is there a way to know whats going on behind the scene! Or do I need to pursue something else such as JNI instead of directly calling gcc program !
Please help if possible.
-JCodda
Don't invoke gcc throught the 'cmd' command shell; invoke it directly like this --
String gcc= "C:/jdk1.3.1_07/bin/gcc";
Process rt1.exec(new String[] { gcc, filename });
// etc.
[/code
I've used this form of exec() just because 'filename' might contain whitespace which gets tokenzed out and splits up the file name.
kind regards,
Jos

Operating System Calls from APEX with Java and PL/SQL
Question about operating system calls from apex.
I created a java file which is wrapped with pl/sql like
create or replace java source named "ExternalCall" as
import java.io.*;
I do the steps from this web page http://www.oracle.com/global/de/community/tipps/oscalls/index.html
The page is in german, but for experienced users the code on this page says everything.
In apex i have an application which calls this function with the "move" command in a sql-report region.
Let's say move c:\work1\file.txt c:\work2\file.txt
Everything works fine on one host(pc) but if i want to transfer the file from my host to another one then
i get the messgage "no access" although i have read, write access on the other host.
By the way, on both hosts i have admin rights.
Why can't i transfer the file over a network ?
Thanks in advance for any kind of help.
Regards
StefanI guess you are working on a Windows host. In this case Oracle processes are running as Windows services with a build-in MS system account. This account has no access to network ressources. You have two ways to get out of your windows box:
Assign Oracle services a network enabled account, e.g. domain user with local administrator privileges. (I never tried this and I don't like to recommend it.)
Use a command script for copying files and use explicite authentication within this script:-
net use \\myserver\ipc$ tiger /user:scott
copy c:\temp\xxx1 \\myserver\share\temp
copy c:\temp\xxx2 \\myserver\share\temp

How to handle spaces when calling javaw.exe or java.exe
Hi guys, I'm in the process of releasing my application.
My application need to make this system call on Windows.
C:\Program Files\MySoftware\javaw.exe -jar C:\Program Files\MySoftware\myJar.jar C:\Program Files\MyDocs\MyArgumentFile
this 'Program Files' for after the javaw.exe call: C:\Program Files\MySoftware\myJar.jar causes a problem because javaw.exe consider C:\Program as it's first argument and thus crash.
I wonder what to do with this. I don't want to change it to C:\MySoftware since it looks unprofessional.
A cup of Java, cheersyawmark wrote:
I wonder what to do with this.Quotation marks.
~Right, every shell I can think of allows you to use quotation marks around a set of any characters that you want to be treated as one token. Note that this feature is a function of the shell you're using, not necessarily the system API. Also, many shells treat single quotes and double quotes differently, though they usually both accomplish the purpose of grouping what they contain into a single token. -
Hi,
I have a C ANSI DLL which communicates with a JAVA applet. I use JNI.
But this isn't the best solution :
the host which is running the applet (Internet Explorer) must have the DLL in local and a .java.policy file in order to run the applet.
Is there another technology which can avoid that problem ? Using no .java.policy and dll file on the host, ie put the DLL only on the server ?
Thanks for your suggestions.You could certainly have your applet make calls back to the server and have the server execute the non-secure code in the DLL. This, of course, assumes that you don't actually need to run the DLL on the client itself.
For the case where you just need to make a couple of calls into the DLL, you could implement your own socket communication. For anything more complicated, I'd recommend that you look into RMI.
Note that it'll be a lot slower doing your DLL calls across the wire, so in this situation, you want to do as much processing on either end of the communication channel as possible, and only transfer results back and forth.

Running a .exe with Java
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to run an executable (*.exe) from within a Java program.
Any suggestions, leads, or examples appreciated.
Thanks!use Runtime();
e.g Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd/c start iexplore http://www.java.sun.com");
iexplore stands for internet explorer it's the excecutable name.
Excuses for the Delay
Hope it still helps

Call SQLDeveloper.exe with connection details
Hi there..
I am trying to use SQLDeveloper from windows command prompt with DB server IP address, port number and SID.
i.e .....
sqldeveloper.exe userid/[email protected]:1521/sid
Can some one help me?
Thank You
SridharHi Sridhar,
That is not currently supported, but I see multiple feature requests on the SQL Developer Exchange (sqldeveloper.oracle.com) for command line logon and other actions. For example https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=43135:7:103357436289732::NO:RP,7:P7_ID:8341
The closest thing to it already implemented would be to use the sdcli command line interface which supports the use of connection names. The 4.0 release supports command line batch processing in the following areas:
C:\Tools\ide\sqldeveloper\bin>sdcli
Available features:
cart: Database Cart Batch Tasks
dba: Basic Batch DBA Tasks
format: SQL Format Task
migration: Database Migration Tasks
reports: Basic Batch Reporting Tasks
unittest: Unit Testing Batch Tasks
Otherwise, when running sqldeveloper.exe from sqldeveloper\bin you can only pass a sql file name as a parameter. For example,
sqldeveloper abc.sql
which works if abc.sql is in the sqldeveloper\bin directory. Or just provide a fully qualified path name for sql file. It will open in a worksheet with the toolbar and connection selector drop-down list active.

Call export with java function stop after a time
Hi
we make a function java for call exp.exe.
We pass at java's function a string
we use this code
/* * ExecuteCmd.java * This is a sample application that uses the Runtime Object * to execute a program. * */
/* Import the classes needed for Runtime, Process, and Exceptions */
import java.lang.*;
//import java.lang.Process;
import java.io.*;
//import java.lang.InterruptedException;
class ExecuteCmd {
public static int Cmd(String args) {
try {
/* Execute the command using the Runtime object and get the
Process which controls this command */
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(args);
/* Use the following code to wait for the process to finish
and check the return code from the process */
try {
p.waitFor();
/* Handle exceptions for waitFor() */
} catch (InterruptedException intexc) {
//System.out.println("Interrupted Exception on waitFor: " + intexc.getMessage());
return -1;
return p.exitValue();
/* Handle the exceptions for exec() */
} catch (IOException e) {
// System.out.println("IO Exception from exec : " + e.getMessage());
// e.printStackTrace();
return 1;
after a time the export begin but stop after some time.
If the schema is little like not table but some sequence the export gone normally but if the schema is big the export stop after a time but we dont have a trace with log.
Can you helpI think you need to gobble up the output from the command you are exec'ing. If the exec'd command fills up your command space buffer it will stop when the buffer is full.
Try adding the lines
String s = new String();
while ((s = p.readLine())!=null)
after the try block to gobble up the output from your command call. -

Hello,
I am here because I have exhausted my Coldfusion/Java ssl keystore certs trouble shooting abilities. Here is the issue. I am developing a Coldfusion 11 application that must make api calls to Chase payconnexion SOAP services. I am using the coldfusion cfhttp tags to do this, which is using the java jre 1.7.x to accomplish this. The problem, I am getting generic 500 internal server errors from Chase. They claim that I am not sending a cert during the ssl exchange. What I have done is:
- put our wildcard cert/key pair in the coldfusion keystore
- put our root and chain in the keystore
- put the chase server cert in the keystore
- converted the key/crt files to .pfx and make the calls
to chase with those, something like:
<cfset objSecurity = createObject("java", "java.security.Security") />
<cfset storeProvider = objSecurity.getProvider("JsafeJCE")/>
<cfset Application.sslfix = true />
<cfhttp url="#chase_api_server#/"
result="http_response"
method="post"
port="1401" charset="utf-8"
clientCert = "#cert_path#/#cert_file1#"
clientCertPassword = "#cert_password#">
<cfhttpparam type="header" name="SOAPAction" value="updateUserProfileRequest"/>
<cfhttpparam type="header" name="Host" value="ws.payconnexion.com" />
<cfhttpparam type="xml" value="#trim(my_xml)#"/>
</cfhttp>
Here is what I see in the Cf logs, can anyone help me interpret what
is happening ??
Thanks,
Bob

How to get Class Name given along with java.exe
Hi friends,
I am Mukesh, currently facing one problem
On command prompt to execute any java program we give :
C : \.-- > java ClassName
This ClassName I need in my application, I want to do some post processing on that.
Actually see what I want :
public class Base
static Base object;
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception
object=(Base)Class.forName("Derived Class Name").newInstance();
void main()
public class Derived extends Base
void main()
System.out.println("Hello World");
I am trying to Run Derived Class, since there is no entry point found, default JVM invoke the Base class's entry point, there I want to load
Derived Class, but I am not getting any identity of derived class in Base class.
I found one temporary solution to this problem :
C: \ -- >java Derived Derived
& in Base class, I have loaded class
object=Class.forName(args[0]).newInstance();
But I dont want to write the same thing twise just to know the Class name which is given along with java.exe.
Is there any way to get the ClassName supplied with java.exe
I have tried a lot, still I am trying !!!
If any one knows the answer, help me.
Regards.

OmidHi Kanagaraja L,
Thanks for you response.
No I haven't created Created RFC Destination , this RFC destination will be of my JAVA system ???.
I have tried creating the partner logical system in WE20 and dine the following steps:
1. Partner No. IDES800 Ides 800 System - Sender System
Partn.Type LS Logical system
2. The tab Post processing : permitted agent is filled with default parameters.
3. Then in the outbound parameter table control I have pressed the add record button and got a new screen in
which I have made the following entry :-
Partner No. IDES800 Ides 800 System - Sender System
Partn.Type LS Logical system
Partner Role LS Logical system
Message Type SYNCH ALE:Dummy Message Type for De
Message code
Message function
Under tab Outbound options :
Receiver Port = A000000008 (This I have selected from F4 help)
Basic type = SYNCHRON
Saved it with the above data.
Now I am not able to understand how to do the things you have mentioned in 3rd step in your reply.
What are all the things I have to do kindly tell , as I am very new to Idocs so don't have much knowledge.

Has anyone out there run into an issue with java.exe and 9ias running on NT4.0? It seems that java.exe reaches approx. 40MB then we get an apache.exe Dr. Watson error and our server is down. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
nullRod,
This question is better suited to the Oracle9i Applications Server forum.
