Call rate issues with Irish landline on Skype to g...

Can anyone explain why, when I set up a new number on Skype to go for a standard Irish landline, I'm told the calling rate is 13.5p/min when I have other numbers already set up or standard Irish landline and their calling rate is 1.4p/min?? I thought I was putting the number in wrong but I'm not. Although when entering the number after +353 when I normally should put "1" (for the dublin area code) I removed it and the calling rate came up as it should (1.4p/min) but will this number work when I call…?

"Copy to clipboard" issue with Acrobat X and Skype extension in Firefox

This post is just to let you know that there is and issue with Acrobat X and the Skype extension in Firefox.
I don't know why but when both programs (Firefox and Acrobat) are opened and I try to copy something from a PDF I always get an error
message like "Impossible to copy into the clipboard. An internal error occurred".
If I close Firefox or I disable the Skype extension for Firefox everything runs smoothly.
It is really odd, I don't know if it is a problem of Acrobat, Firefox or of Skype....
Are anyone experiencing the same problem?

Just found your post after getting the same problem with Google Chrome and Adobe Reader 10. It doesn't happen all the time but is annoying. If I switch Chrome off the problem is cured. Switch it straight back on and the problem reappears. It has only started after Skype was installed. Thanks for posting - I'll just switch Chrome off for now when I want to copy and paste unless a fix appears.

IPVC 3515 MCU Call Rate Issue

We have implemented a 3515 that allows various types of devices to dial into the MCU successfully. There are three Polycom units also on the same LAN. The desire is to have them dial in at 768Kbps, but that does not work no matter what settings we try. They always negotiate at 448Kbps. They get H264 CIF/SIF. MCU is on 5.5.0.
When the Polycom units dial directly to one another they immediately pop to 768Kbps which is the expected behavior when they dial into the MCU.
Anyone come across something like this? TAC says to update software on everything and then collect logs, but before we do this I'd like to see if anyone might have an idea of what we might try.

You can configure the maximum call rate for audio and video. This is the maximum bit rate available for this service. This value represents the total bit rate of the voice, video and data streams combined, up to a maximum of 2 Mbps per call.

Skype freezes during video call, no issue with har...

Hi All,
I have recently been set to the task to figure out why everyone around me cannot skype a video call longer than approx. 2mins without the feed freezing, going black, or turning to static.
I have read almost all the forums in the community on video freezing and have tried all listed options.
I have throughly checked all of mine and others laptops hardware for functionality and nothing is wrong.
It is running Windows 8.1 and has all Windows updates, software and firmware updates.
It seems many people are crying for an answer for this and reverting to an old version of Skype is no longer possible.
Ideas??? ***Please do not reply with: reinstall your driver or test your camera to see if it freezes in other programs. This has been done. This is not a computer model/operating system specific issue and I see it as a skype issue.

Try to uninstall the currently installed Skype version and install the previous 6.14.0.104 version using the download links provided here:

Make sure to disable automatic updates:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates

LogicX - Maverick - Sample Rate issue with Audio Interface

As a test prior to updating my Mac Pro and iMac, I loaded ML so I could test out LogicX. I've been running Logic 9 either using the built in audio or a Line6 guitar Port. The MBP is a late 2009, non retina, 13 in with 4 GB Ram. As compared to my iMac, the laptop can barely play back my tracks which are mostly software instruments (I don't record audio until the midi arrangements are finalized).
So, I updated to ML to try out X and of course, had to deal with the 32 bit plugin issue. Luckily, 32 Lives and Vienna helped out with 90% of my plugins.
Now, I updated to MAV and had to go through an arduous process of re validating the AU plugins for both Logic 9 and X.
After doing so, I loaded up a song that did have a single bass audio track. I updated the Guitar Port driver from Line 6 to the latest driver. The song will start, but then I get a stuttering and an error message about running the audio at a weird sample rate, eg 28654. I tried using the built in audio and same issue.
I opened the song in Logic 9 and it works.
Any suggestions? Do you think one of the resurrected plugins is causing this problem? Everything worked OK in ML though.

Let me start over ... the typical audio setting that FCP works with is 48khz, 16 bit stereo. If you check the sequence settings, it will probably show that to be the case unless you've created a sequence with other settings. The audio of any clip you bring into FCP really needs to match the sequence settings. To check the sequence settings go to Sequence->Settings.
So far, you've confirmed the clip is 48khz sampling rate but you didn't say what it's bit depth was. In FCP, right click on the clip and select "Item Properties." That will tell you the information I've been asking about.

Frame rate issue with AVCHD and CS4

I've been using a Canon HG20 recently and the whole experience of AVCHD has been a nightmare. I finally have a computer that can handle playing the native files in the Premiere timeline but it looks like there's a problem with the frame rate. It was shot at 1920 x 1080 and the frame rate was set at 60i.
When starting a new project I used the AVCHD 60i preset and the clips don't need rendering which tells me the settings should be correct. But something is definitely very off. I thought there was a slight chance it was a performance problem so I tried burning footage to a DVD and it looks exactly the same. Does this look familiar to anyone? Any ideas on what the disconnect between the camera's settings and Premiere's settings might be?

It looks like it might be skipping frames or something. The movement looks wrong.
Just realized something. Please forgive my ignorance, it's only my second day using CS4. The clips I place into the timeline have a yellow bar above them. So I'm guessing this means that the frame rate of the clip doesn't match the project settings. I've tried all of the AVCHD presets. I can't place a clip in any of them without the yellow bar. When I right click on a clip and select 'properties' it shows the frame rate is 29.97. So what's with the yellow bar if the project settings match that?
Is there a way to tell if the HG20 shoots in 24p over 60i? And if that's the case how does that affect my project presets?
I have to be making some kind of simple newbie mistake here.

Frame Rate Issue With Footage Shot on HVX

I just shot something using the HVX and the 100Gb Firestore. The assistant cameraman set the firestore to make quicktime files to be brought into Final Cut. We shot most of our footage at high frame rates. When we watched already shot files through the camera's LCD screen, things appear in slow motion. However, when I bring the quicktime files into Final Cut, they play at normal speed. How do I convert the frame rate to what we shot at? Is there some import tool that does this automatically?

Frame rate issues with GoPro Hero

Hi everyone,
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 on a Windows XP machine.
I'm very new to the world of editing so please bear with me.
I have a GoPro Hero 1080p camera and I'm filming motorsport.
I have been recording in 1080p but after doing some research most people seem to be recording in 720p which utilises 60fps in the NTSC setting.
When I come to edit in Adobe the imported clips are shown as 59.96fps not 60fps! The closest I can get is 59.94fps. The outputed footage looks awful.

It might be worth explaing that the fottage is stored on the memory card as a .avi. My method of importing the clips is to change the file extention to .mov and then Adobe excepts them. Is this the best method?
Sorry for the all the long winded questions but all help would be greatly receieved.

Built in mic wont work with desktop version of skype

So i had skype already on the computer when i got it sense it had windows 8 well it just started to show that the skype i was using was going out of date so i decided to follow the link to download the desktop version now it wont work with my mic not sure if it a issue with microsoft end or skypes end. anyone got any ideas how to fix this problem?

I am having issues with my iPhone5

There are times where I dial a number and the phone never connects although I have plenty of bars. I have completed a soft reboot, reset network connections, and turned off bluetooth. The problem is intermittent. Also, I contacted Verizon for a tower test. Is this a hardware issue? I have had the phone for over a year.

Why bother with a landline?

Our Verizon landline has been without a dial tone for almost 24 hours now. The online repair system promises that the situation will be resolved by next Tuesday evening, six days after the problem was reported! We even pay a monthly fee for a wiring maintenance plan in case the outage is caused by wiring inside the home (which, after testing at the NID, we know it's not).
Thankfully, our household has Vonage and Comcast Voice, as well as wireless service. Each of these vendors is able to diagnose and resolve problems within hours, not days or weeks.
I'm wondering why we - or anyone for that matter - would continue to maintain a Verizon landline when the cost is excessive and the service abysmal. It suddenly makes sense that so many of our friends and neighbors have given up their expensive and redundant landlines!

I am completely with you. My landline has not been working since July 8th. Verizon came out on the 9th and said it would be working within 48 hours but it's been almost 2 weeks now and still no phone service. I have used up almost all of my monthly cellphone minutes trying to get my phone working but to no avail. It's really, really ridiculous that Verizon who is supposed to be a phone company cannot get my line working. I never had issues with my landline when I was using Time Warner.
I am so fed up with verizon that i am ready to cancel my services (FIOS triple play) and go back to Time Warner. Since i am still under my 1 yr contract, would I be hit with the early termination fee b/c I cancel my account due to it not working?

Quality issues with calls from US to Korea

I've always been a big fan of Skype. I have a premium account and I use "Skype to go" to call from the US to South Korea. Starting about 5 months ago, the quality of these calls has severely degraded. It is almost not worth the call. It is very difficult for me to hear the people I've called and for them to hear me as well. There is no Skype customer support contact phone number listed anywhere on the Skype website that I can find. Otherwise, I'd be addressing this issue with a real person. Is there a reason for this call quality degradation? Is there a fix in work? Is there a customer service number I can call? Is it time for me to leave Skype?

Serious issues with Skype.

There were a few reasons I went for a 920. Navigation, social network integration and Skype were the main ones. Seeing as MS bought Skype, I felt it would be a premium feature which would be promoted as a selling point. Initially, I was extremely disappointed to see Skype wasn't fully integrated into the OS - I just assumed that would be a unique feature to WP8 devices. I comforted myself with the fact that Skype would run in the background, and I would receive calls and messages whether the app was running or not.
It started off fine - but the experience, call quality and reliability were awful. (Call quality and image was fine using a Macbook on the same network). I would get cut off after 1 second on about 7 out of 10 times. The FFC produces extremely blocky images, and there is no way of flipping to use the rear camera.
As I said, at least it worked in the background, and calls came through at the same time as on my Macbook.
Now, for whatever reason, I no longer receive calls when Skype is in the background. I now have to operate Skype as I did on my old WP7 800 - open the app to receive a call. I realize this is a Skype app, but I want to know how other people rate the experience? Is it just me - and anyone got any idea why it's not receiving calls when in the background? Same with Skype messages.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled - no change. How many apps can run in the background before WP starts closing them down to save memory? Could that be a reason?
I have to say, MS/Skype have seriously disappointed me with this app - surely this should have been given priority resources to make the WP version stand out above Android and iOS versions? As it is, my 3 year old Desire performs way better than the flagship Nokia device when running a Microsoft (owned) app!

Appreciate the feedback, and I realise that it is a MS issue - not a fault specifically with the 920, but I'm still curious as to why Skype worked in the background until seemingly I installed other apps that need to run in the background - I thought Skype was given priority so that it could continually receive calls even when the app was not opened.
I currently have 19 apps that are under the "advanced" list in "background tasks". Would that affect Skypes ability to stay active?

Skype issues with new Retina MBP

Help - I have a new Retina MBP with the latest version of Skype. I am having serious issues with Skype -anyone I call on landlines keep telling me my voice is "breaking up" - I can hear them perfectly. A skype test call works OK, calling my own land line seems to be OK, but all calls from Australia to US land lines experinece this issue. (I thought is was my router so had Telstra replace it - talk about good customer service - it was replaced no questions asked). Same version of Skype on my 5+ year old MBP still works OK (of course it is not running the latest version of Moutain Lion as it does not support this version).
The Skype community forum reports various issues with MBPs but not this particular one. I would go to the Apple Genius Bar but they don't really provide support for thirdy party apps. Note I am using the built-in speaker and microphone.
All suggestions most welocme - I really need to get this sorted before my next trip.

Issue with lag on skype and Leauge of Legends

I've called tech support 5 times, 3 times they have hung up on me and this has been a on going issue for 3 weeks now.
On Skype, Dolby Axon and League of Legends I have been getting an excessive amount of lag (ping of 300 - 1200 in spikes). They asked if I want to pay to have a tech come out to my house but I'm not about to pay someone $40/hr to come over and do everything I did.
How could I fix this issue? (the first 6 pictures are pings to google.com, the last is to leagueoflegends.com)

I had the guy come out, he replaced the modem and all, still I drop packets and get ping spike up to 1200 on na.leagueoflegends.com Edit:Its worse now. I lose my connection 100% now about every 5 minutes...I didn't have this issue with verizon FIOS, TDS, or any other ISP.
