Calling 2 FPGA in Real-Time VI

Im using an sbRIO and I have 2 FPGA in it. I program both to open in real time. FPGA 1 is regarding getting data from analog signal and FPGA 2 is sending PWM. If these 2 are seperated, I have no problem opening them in real time. When I combine them together in a single real time VI, only FPGA 2 is working. FPGA 1, which supposedly shows values in charts is just totally empty!
Question is, how do I integrate both FPGAs in a single real time VI? Will combining the codes in FPGA screw up the timing?

I'm pretty sure the sbRIO cards only have 1 FPGA on them.  So when you load the second FPGA code, the first is being overwritten.  You need to make a single FPGA VI that can handle both functions.  If you post your code, we can give more detailed advice.

  • Calling Oracle Workflow in Real-Time

I want to modify the logic in Oracle Apps (both Oracle self-service (pure HTML and JSP) and Oracle Forms applications) to make real-time calls to a mainframe system. The page needs to take different actions depending on the data from the mainframe system.
I want to avoid actually customizing the Apps and Forms pages if possible due to customization maintenance and support issues. I have been told that I can use Oracle Workflow to modify the actions of the pages without having to resort to customizations, as calls to Workflow are already embedded. Is this true, and if so, how would I go about inserting a call to a mainframe system?
I am considering mainframe calls using either a proprietary ODBC driver from a third-party vendor, or devising some sort of SOA interface to the mainframe (I know it would require custom development on the mainframe side).
    Thanks!

  • FPGA to Real Time using DMA to Host using Network Stream

    Hi All,
So I am working on a project where I am monitoring various characteristics of a modified diesel engine being driven by a dynamometer. I am trying to log different pressures, temperatures, and engine speed. It basically breaks down into two streams of data acquisition.
    Fast (125kS/ch/s):
In cylinder pressure using an NI 9223
Engine speed via shaft encoder/MPU using same NI 9223
    Slow (1kS/ch/s)
Other pressures (oil, coolant, tank, etc...) using an NI 9205
Various temperatures using an NI 9213
My basic architecture is simultaneous data acquisition on the FPGA for both streams. Each Stream is feed into a separate DMA FIFO where it is fed to the RT side. On the RT side each DMA FIFO is simultaneously read and transferred into two separate network streams where it is fed to the host PC. Then the Host PC does all of the analysis, and logs the data to disk. I had this code working on Thursday with great success, then I tried to package the RT VI as an executable so that it could be deployed to the rio and called pragmatically from the host VI. After trying this approach I was told that we needed to do some testing, so I undid the changes and now the slow stream is not working properly.
Since then I have installed LV2013 and installed NI RIO 13 so that I could have a fresh slate to work with. It didn't help however, and now I'm having issues just working in scan mode and with simple FPGA applications. Does anyone know if there are some settings that I could have messed up either building the executable application or deploying it? Or why the fast acquisition is still working while the slow doesn't, even though they are exactly the same?
Sorry to be so scatter brained with this whole issue. I really have no idea how it could be broken considering the fast stream is working and the code is practically identical. Let me know if you need more information. I'll upload my code as well.

    Hopefully these files work.
The "fast" stream gives data points every 8us without fail, as that is the scan period of a 125kHz sample rate. The "slow" stream on Thursday was giving out data points every 1ms, however, now it gives out data points in a very sporadic interval. Also, the data that it does give out doesn't make any sense, tick count going in the negative followed by positive direction for example.
I did uninstall all of the old rio drivers before installing the new set as well. Ill give it another shot though. :/
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Error "cannot load request real time data targets" for new cube in BI 7.

    Hi All,
WE have recently upgarded our SCM system from 4.1 to SCM 7.0 which incorporated BI 7.0.
I am using BI 7.0 for first time and ahve the following issue:
I ceated a new infocube and data source of flat file and succesfully created transformation, and Data Transfer Process. Everything looked fine. I added flat file and checked preview and could see data. Now when I start job to load data in infocube the follwing error is shown "cannot load request real time data targets".
I checked cube type in setting in infcune is shows as Standard.  When I doube clicked on error the following message showed up
You are trying to load data into a real-time InfoCube using a DTP.
This is only possible if the correct load settings have been defined for the InfoCube.
    Procedure
In the object tree of the Data Warehousing Workbench, call Load Behavior of Real-Time InfoCube from the context menu of the InfoCube. Switch load behavior to Transactional InfoCube can be loaded; planning not allowed.
I did not understand what it is meant and how to set changes. Can someone advice and follow me through.
    Thanks
    KV

    Hi Kverma,
Real-time InfoCubes can be filled with data using two different methods: using the transaction for entering planning data, and using BI staging, whereby planning data cannot be loaded simultaneously. With Real time cube you can select the method you want to use for update as
Real Time data Target can be loaded With Data; Planning not allowed &
Real Time data Target can be Planned; Data loading not allowed
You can change this behaviour by right clicking on cube and selecting Change real time load behaviour and select first option. You will be able to load the data then

  • About DTP with real-time access.

    Hello Gurus,
setting for error handling only has an impact while repairing a DTP request (repair) and during the conversion of the DTP to standard DTP (for example, to correct an error during extraction).
will you please give a simpel scenario to explain above words?
    thank you very much.
    Fran

    Hi,
    Use :
With SAP NetWeaver 7.0, SPS 14, the following changes and enhancements are available for real-time data acquisition:
    ●      Changes to the menu and the context menu of the monitor for real-time data acquisition
The menu and the context menus for the individual objects in the monitor for real-time data acquisition have been standardized and enhanced. In particular, it is now possible to assign daemons and data transfer processes on various levels using context menu entries. For a complete overview of the functions in the menu and in the context menus, see Monitor for Real-Time Data Acquisition.
    ●      Assignment of daemons for InfoPackages and data transfer processes (DTP)
To assign InfoPackages and data transfer processes to a daemon, you can call the monitor for real-time data acquisition in the following ways:
    ○       In the Data Warehousing Workbench using the respective context menu entry Assign RDA Daemon.
    ○       In InfoPackage maintenance using the Schedule tab page, and in data transfer process maintenance using the Execute tab page.
The button names for jumping to the monitor for real-time data acquisition have changed here. To jump to the monitor, choose Assign Daemon.
    ●      Repair process chains for repairing a broken data transfer or a missing delta in the DataStore object
In certain situations, a gap in the delta of the DataStore object can occur if there is a closed request in the PSA but there is no corresponding request in the DataStore object. For example, this is the case if a DTP request has terminated due to an error in the transformation. Here, you can create a repair process chain to repair a missing or broken update from the PSA. The repair process chain contains a standard DTP as well as any further processes required for subsequent processing (such as activating the data in the DataStore object or subsequent process chains). When the repair process chain is executed, the complete delta is loaded from the source into the DataStore object and processes for activation and further processing are executed if required.
    ●      Process types for starting and stopping real-time data acquisition
You can use process chains to control real-time data acquisition using process types Start Real-Time Data Acquisition (RDA) Load Process and Stop Real-Time Data Acquisition (RDA) Load Process.

  • Multisim in real time FPGA

    Hi All,
I am trying to co-simulate a multisim file into Labview.
Its working but the moment I select that VI to run in real time FPGA , everything codded in labview works but the multisim block stops talking to my PXI.
I do not understand why is this happening. Can anyone help me.
    Regards,

    Hi Tayyab!!
Files are attached. Its simple PWM genration from multisim called in VI.
Tell me if co-simulation does not support FPGA at all, because the multisim block always stops running whenever i connect to FPGA (PXI-7813).
    Thanks,

  • Qual a diferença do LabVIEW FPGA e o LabVIEW REAL- TIME?

    Hello,
Could anyone help me? This question arose in my work and could not answer. Does anyone know tell me?
    Thank you.

Assista ao webcast Introduction to LabVIEW FPGA
Assista ao webcast LabVIEW Real-Time: Graphical Development, Hard Real-Time Performance
    Hello,
With LabVIEW FPGA you program the FPGA chip itself. The FPGA chip is found into cRIO chassis, NI R-Series Boards, and NI Single board RIO. You program the I/O directly in the chip, so we consider this as a low level programing. The main FPGA advantage is the "Real Paralelism", which guarantees high speed execution programming.
Whatch Introduction to LabVIEW FPGA webcast
With LabVIEW Real-Time you develop called "time crictical" or "Deterministics" applications. In case of you routine must be executed in a specified period of time, the difference between the real time execution and the time you programmed is as low as possible. Commom computers programming are not deterministic, because in the meantime of executing a certain programmed routine, the OS (e.g. Windows) is running other appication tasks, monitoring peripherals like mouse and keyboard, uptading screen, etc.
Real-Time doesn't mean "faster" but "reliable".

  • How to download an FPGA vi along with a real time application

    Hello
I am targeting cRIO 9012, cRIO 9102. I downloaded the FPGA vi on flash memory and then built a real time application and set it as startup.  But there was no signals on the modules IOs which are handled by FPGA vi.
Also the shared variables of that application when running as standalone aren't accessible. Please provide me the steps that should be followed to access the shared variables of a standalone real time system. Please help me resolve these problems.
    Best Regards

    Hi Mani,
What modules do you have?  What kinds of signals are you measuring?
Have you deployed your shared variable library on your host PC?

  • File not found when trying to call a dll on LabVIEW Real Time machine

I have a dll called "DLLRTTEST" that I've written, and have succesfully called on my host machine.  I'm now attempting to call this dll from a vi that is located on my real time computer.  Currently I get an "Error 7 occurred at Call Library Function Node in DLLRTTEST.vi." message upon execution
In the attached screenshot I'm trying to ensure that the vi I'm running is in fact located on the real time system.  I then use a "Check if File or Folder Exists.vi" to confirm that the dll that I'm about to call does exist on the real time system as well.  However, I still receive an "error 7 file not found" error from the Call Library Function Node.
    Any help is appreciated.

As nathand already mentioned, depending on your C toolchain your DLL will depend on other DLLs. Usually the according msvcrtXX.dll that matches your Visual C version, if you use Visual C, other runtime DLLs if you use a different C environment. These runtime DLLs are even necessary if you do not call anything in any of your functions, since the DLL makes various initialization steps when it gets loaded and that references some C runtime functions nevertheless. Compiling and linking the DLL with static C runtime is usually also not a clean solution since the linked in C runtime will then reference Windows APIs that are not available on LabVIEW RT.
Depending on your version of LabVIEW RT you will have some mscvrtxx.dll files in your system directory but it will be an older one than from the latest Visual Studio version. If you can compile your DLL with that Visual Studio version then you should be fine, but could possibly run into new problems if you later upgrade to a newer LabVIEW RT version. Installing the C runtime distributables from newer Visual Studio versions is unfortunately also not a solution, since it references many (undocumented) Windows API functions that are not available in LabVIEW RT.

  • CRIO and ni 9234 modules not working or communicating through fpga with accelerometers, fpga connected to real time application which is also connected to shared variables linked to modbus slave

    Hi,
I have a compact rio which has a 4 way chassis attached to that chassis is three ni9234 modules they are linked using fpga to a real time application then using shared variables in the low speed loop that are linked to a modbus slave to communicate with dcs, the ni 9234's have accelerometers connected to them with iepe ac coupled option on the c modules, my problem is the real time application seems to be running okay even when power loss occurs it restarts with no problem and the fpga writes to the portable hard drive bin files fine but without a accelerometer connected I get low noise readings as soon as I connect a accelerometer to any one of the 10 outputs it just goes to a fixed number (0.03125) as soon as disconnect it again it reverts back to reading noise, I have run a scan on the modules and only get a spike when I connect or disconnect the accelerometer, I have tested the voltage at the pins of the module and I get 22 volts dc which makes it more likely that the hardware is not the problem but a software is maybe causing this to hang-up, I attach project and files for your perusal. I also carried out a new project which in scan mode directly linked the module input to shared variable and the same scenerio again. Help would be much appretiated.
    Many thanks

Whren using waveform acquisition with the 9234s we recommend the following FPGA and RT template.
    http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/209114
it can be extended as a data logger with:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/6388
or using shared variables combined with scan engine
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/9851
The FPGA in all of these, as well as the RT framework have been used successfully by 1000s of users.  I would recommend giving these a try.

  • Call web service from OBI dashboard to show real-time data alongside data from DW

    Hello,
    OBI = 11.1.1.7.0
We have a requirement to pull in real-time data from an external, secure web service (WS) into an OBI report.  The OBI report also contains data from the data warehouse (DW) along with a calculation that is derived from multiplying the DW and WS data .  In theory, the behavior that were looking for is similar to the Action Link "Invoking a web service" whereby the call is made to the web service for each row of data.  How would it be possible to achieve this result on an OBI report?
    Desired Result of OBI Report
    Product.......Qty.........Price........Potential Revenue
    TV..............100...........$500..........$50000
    VCR.............22............$75...........$1650
    DVD..........2500............$20..........$50000
Breakdown of the data source for each column on the OBI report
    Product.......Qty.........Price........Potential Revenue
    DW............WS...........DW..........Calculated_on_the_fly_(qty*price)
    DW............WS...........DW..........Calculated_on_the_fly_(qty*price)
    DW............WS...........DW..........Calculated_on_the_fly_(qty*price)
    Thank you,

Does anyone know if it's possible to call a webservice from an OBI report to populate a column's value?  Thank you for your input.

Be sure that all DLL calls are thread safe (do not perform calls in UI thread).
Also for real-time application you need real-time OS.

  • View Call Manager Call Real-Time?

    Cisco Forum Members:
Is there a way to view Call Manager calls real-time?
The application is that someone picks up an IP Phone, dials an access code to overhead paging, then fails to properly hang up the call as which point their subsequent conversation is broadcast over the paging speakers.  Can it be determined which Directory Number is connected to the paging port (a router FXO/FXS port)?
    Thank you.

The easiest way would be to look in the GW that houses the paging port with the show call active voice command. For more info look at this link, http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk652/tk698/technologies_tech_note09186a008019ab88.shtml
