Calling a variable from a external txt file that is equal button name

Hello
I have a variable in an external txt file that is = the name
of my button. I have loaded the file in to flash in an object
called my_lv.
How do I make line three in the code valid ?
_root.map.name1900.onRollOver=function() {
this._alpha=20;
txName=my_lv.+(this._name); // this line is wrong!! I need
to place name1990._name in side the ().

do you have an object called "my_lv" and a child object have
named as "name1900" . ie "my_lv.name1900"\
if i am right then...
>> txName=my_lv.+(this._name); //
should be
txName= eval("my_lv."+ this._name)

  • How to read in text string pairs from an external txt file?

    I have an external txt file containing 26000 pairs of strings in the format
    string1a   string1b
    string2a   string2b
    string26000a string26000b
    all strings are always 4 characters in length.  For example,
    a123   jkdh
    b456   uusp
    How can use TestStand 2013 to input this data into local string array varaibles?  I also have legacy testers running TestStand 3.5, so I need a TestStand 3.5 solution as well.  Thanks in advance for any ideas.  Hopefully this can be done in TestStand without the use of LabView or LabWindows/CVI.

    Daniel E., thanks for the reply.
         It is very frustrating to have to implement workarounds in order to access text in an external file when using TestStand.  TestStand already reads in text ini files, so it would probably take a TestStand software developer all of 1/2 day to write the code and 1/2 day to debug it.  Here I will restate the obvious.  Engineers have to deal with data, sometimes data generated from other applications.  Sharing data in a text file is one of the most basic functions (and one of the easiest to implement).  When I think of all the effort needed to support ActiveX, but NI did not see it fit to give TestStand users simple text file read/write functionality, it does not make sense to me.  Maybe it was too simple or mundane a task so it did not get developed?  Whatever the reason, I think users of TestStand deserve this basic functionality.
         Even if TestStand cannot read the data directly into array variables, it should provide some mechanism to read the text from the file, either line by line or all file text into a string, so the data could then be parsed into the array variables I need.
         I will pursue a CVI or LabView solution.  Please also know that I am not directing these comments at you, I do appreciate your reply.

  • Calling a function from an external AS file

    I create a AS file that contains my DAO functions. I imported
    the class into my application, but what do I have to do to call one
    of its functions?
    In my ProjectDAO.as I have updateProject(projectID:Number),
    in my mxml I have a button that calls that function but I get a
    'function cannot be found' error.
    What am I missing?

    In your first post you said you wanted to call
    updateProject(projectID:Number).
    In your latest post you have this:
    <mx:Button label="New Project"
    click="PDAO.addNewProject(event)" />
    I think it should be this
    <mx:Button label="New Project"
    click="addNewProject(event)" />
    Where addNewProject is not in class ProjectDAO, but is the
    click handler function in the mxml file.
    Then within that addNewProject click handler you call
    PDAO.updateProject(projectID).
    If in fact addNewProject is another method in class
    ProjectDAO, and is an instance method, then create a click handler
    like myClickHandler(event) and do this:
    <mx:Button label="New Project"
    click="myClickHandler(event)" />
    and here is the handler function:
    private function myClickHandler(e:MouseEvent):void{
    PDAO.addNewProject(projectID);
    If instead addNewProject is a class method, call it like
    this:
    private function myClickHandler(e:MouseEvent):void{
    ProjectDAO.addNewProject(projectID);
    Your actual click handler function may differ, but these are
    some hints. If none of this makes sense, start by reading FB3 help
    topic Flex Programming Elements and all its sub-topics, compiling
    all the sample apps, otherwise you will find it difficult to
    proceed with Flex.

    itunes is copying/converting 500gb of music from .wma to .m4a files that are on an external drive onto my laptop which doesnt have enough room. how do i reroute these newly converted files somewhere with enough space for them?
    new to itunes, used windows media player before that and always ripped music directly to an external hardrive and accessed it through the player. now that i downloaded itunes it is taking from the external hardrive and copying a second file for each song onto my lap top hard drive which does not have the capacity for all my music. as itunes converts music files i want them saved back onto my external drive or another location i have space for rather than the lap top. how do i change the setting to move the itunes media folder to another location. assuming that hitting copy and past and dropping it in a random location will cause a few errors.

    When I have done this, all I did was network the two machines and copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the other machine, and that's it.
    My understanding (which may not be 100% correct) is that the one file that is absolutely necessary is iTunes Library, and that the XML file is actually a copy auto-generated from the iTunes Library, appearing in a different format only for non-iTunes apps that take advantage of the iTunes Library data.
    As far as I know, if you simply have the Library (database) file and all your original music files, iTunes on that computer should operate as it did on your old computer. I believe that the Album Artwork, Genius Data, and XML files can be regenerated from the Library file. Not sure about the Extras file.

  • HT201250 Is there a possibility to recover erased files from an external hard drive that was reformatted by the Time Machine?

    Is there a possibility to recover erased files from an external hard drive that was reformatted by the Time Machine?

    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
    If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location.  OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
    If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone.  Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
    If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
    The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
    Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.

  • Reading/getting external .txt files

    Hi,
    I want to display the content of a .txt files (which is located in the src folder) inside a TextBox (or ChoiceGroup, or Form). How do I do this yea? For instance, the TextBox constructor is TextBox(String title, String text, int maxSize, int constraints) rite, how do I fit in the file reading function or value that I get from reading the .txt file into it yea?
    Thanx!

    what do u mean by build the .txt file into the jar?{color:#0000ff}http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/jar/index.html{color}
    i tried the examples from ... ...In future, please do not post on long-dead threads. One of those threads you posted on was from 2002.
    Reviewing your initial post and the silly question about the TextBox constructor, I think you are not quite ready for this task. You need to go back to basics and learn the Java language. The Sun Java Tutorials are a good place to start.
    This comment is not meant to discourage you, it is a statement of fact. A good foundation is a must for any developer, or indeed in any sphere of activity.

  • AS3: outputting trace() content to external txt file

    the question's in the title. ive got a swf but i've gotta run
    it on a nokia n800, which means trace() content will be lost and -
    boy! - do i need it!
    so how can i set my swf up to output its trace content to an
    external txt file?

    hello kglad
    well, not 'lost' thats misleading, sorry. i mean: the swf
    will be running on a browser outside the flash authorising
    environment so the output window won't be accessible, therefore i
    need a way of printing out the trace() output to another source.
    the help files say that trace() can output to the output window OR
    to an external txt file. only it doesnt actually go on to say quite
    HOW you can output to said external txt file, rather
    irritatingly..

  • How to import classes from an external actionscript file

    This is driving me crazy, I've been trying to resolve this on my own for ages, and I've reviewed a lot of different materials, but I still can't seem to just import some external actionscript classes correctly.
    I'm using Flash Builder 4 with the Flex 4 SDK on mac osx 10.6
    the class I'm trying to import (I'll call it DesiredClass) is in a folder like this
    /libraries/com/foreignproject/com/foreignproject/DesiredClass.as
    within the class itself, the package declaration looks like this (I left all the guts out for clarity):
    package com.foreignproject
        import flash.display.Sprite;
        public class DesiredClass extends Sprite
            public function DesiredClass()
    I'm working on a totally different actionscript file at
    /Users/username/Documents/Adobe Flash Builder 4/TestProject/src/TestProject.as
    in this file I try to import the DesiredClass:
    package
         import com.foreignproject.DesiredClass;
         import flash.display.Sprite;
         public class TestProject extends Sprite
              public function TestProject()
              var neatClass:DesiredClass = new DesiredClass();
    And then I try to add the class I want to the source path.
    I've tried adding each folder to the source path separately:
    /libraries/com/foreignproject/com/foreignproject/DesiredClass.as
    /libraries/com/foreignproject/com/foreignproject/DesiredClass.as
    /libraries/com/foreignproject/com/foreignproject/DesiredClass.as
    /libraries/com/foreignproject/com/foreignproject/DesiredClass.as
    /libraries/com/foreignproject/com/foreignproject/DesiredClass.as
    If I choose the libraries folder or either of the com folders then an error shows up in theTestProject.as file, saying:
    Definition com.foreignproject:DesiredClass could not be found.
    But f I choose either of the foreignproject folders then an error shows up in theDesiredClass.as file saying:
    a file found in a source-path must have the same package structure 'com.foreignproject', as the definition's package, ".
    What am I doing wrong? Please help. I bought a book on actionscript, started doing the flex-in-a-week series, read numerous online discussion boards, and I still can't import these classes.
    Thanks in advance.

    I don't know if this method is supported anymore but you can give it a try.
    If you backed up bookmarks in IE using the following directions, you should be good!
    *In IE, "File -> Import and Export -> Export Cookies".
    *Open newly exported "cookies.txt" in a text editor and put a period before every line that starts with a domain. So a line starting with <b>altavista.com TRUE / FALSE 1388491200 AV_ALL 1</b> will become <b>.altavista.com TRUE / FALSE 1388491200 AV_ALL 1</b>
    *Then, move the "cookies.txt" file to your profile folder.
    You can get to the Profile folder two ways
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Show Folder
    or
    *Go to '''about:support''' and click Show Folder next to Profile Directory.

  • "Detecting" a variable from an externally-loaded SWF via SWFLoader

    I load an external SWF file from a click event.  Then, when the interactions has reached the end of the presentation, we'd like it to unload itself, and go into another state.
    Is that possible?  ( actually transformed the SWF into a component using Flash Builder 4 hoping that would be easier to detect variables and events)
    Thanks,
    Doug

    It is possible, but you'll have to wire up the communications between the
    SWFs

  • Dynamic Text with external .txt files

    I need help getting dynamic text to display. I've used the
    following tutorials (among others).
    http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/dynamic_scroller.htm
    http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/multiple_dynamictext.htm
    In Flash 8 on last frame of maintimeline of movie, I have a
    layer with a background image, 2 buttons and a dynamic textbox
    (made scrollable) with scrollbar component. Textbox is given a var
    of "content", and an instance name of "textBox", which is
    referenced in scrollbar parameters.
    I have created 3 text .txt files, and saved them to same
    folder with movie .swf file. Text in files is preceeded by
    "content=" on line preceeding text to correspond with var of
    dynamic textbox. The files were created in Rich text format on Mac
    OSX4.11 and saved with .rtf extension, then file extension was
    changed to .txt (wouldn't save as .txt)
    I've added the following actionscript to this last frame:
    loadText = new LoadVars();
    loadText.load("TEXTintro.txt");
    //creating the loadVarsText function
    loadText.onLoad = function(success){
    if (success){
    textBox.text = this.content;
    else{
    trace("Error loading external content");
    Buttons have an instance name assigned with the following
    actionscript:
    on (release) {
    loadText = new LoadVars();
    loadText.load("TEXT1.txt");
    loadText.onLoad = function(success){
    if (success){
    textBox.text = this.content;
    else{
    trace("Error loading external content");
    When I test movie, I can see buttons on last frame of movie,
    but they don't load any text when pressed, and "undefined" text
    appears in upper left corner of text box before I press either
    button.
    I am getting the following Output errors:
    **Error** Scene=MoonOfWintertime, layer=TextBox,
    frame=2500:Line 1: Statement block must be terminated by '}'
    on (release) {
    **Error** Scene=MoonOfWintertime, layer=TextBox,
    frame=2500:Line 11: Syntax error.
    **Error** Scene=MoonOfWintertime, layer=TextBox,
    frame=2500:Line 1: Statement block must be terminated by '}'
    on (release) {
    **Error** Scene=MoonOfWintertime, layer=TextBox,
    frame=2500:Line 11: Syntax error.
    Total ActionScript Errors: 4 Reported Errors: 4

    No more output errors, buttons still not working, but I got
    my intro .txt file to load in textbox that loads with frame using
    the following code I tried from another tutorial:
    loadText = new LoadVars();
    loadText.onLoad = function() {
    textBox.html=true;
    textBox.htmlText = this.textContent;
    loadText.load("TEXTintro.txt");
    Tried the following code with buttons, but doesn't work.
    Other code suggestions?
    on (release) {
    loadText = new LoadVars();
    loadText.onLoad = function() {
    loadText.load("TEXT2.txt");
    on (release) {
    loadText = new LoadVars();
    loadText.onLoad = function() {
    textBox.html=true;
    textBox.htmlText = this.textContent;
    loadText.load("TEXT1.txt");
    }

  • Print from .csv or .txt file

    Hello Experts,
    I am new to ABAP development.
    Is there any way to print the content of an .csv or .txt file.
    For example my report will have a selection screen where we will upload a file containing "Hello world" when we execute the output screen will show "Hello World".
    Regards,

    Hi Sarnava,
    If your are selecting file from your system desktop then use  GUI_UPLOAD to upload data in data_tab and then while applying loop at this internal table split the code at ',' or space and fill internal table with your relevant fields.
    Loop at final internal table and display on output screen.
    DATA: BEGIN OF I_APPFEED OCCURS 0,
             RECORD(200)  TYPE C,
           END   OF I_APPFEED.
    CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_UPLOAD'
         EXPORTING
           FILENAME                = LV_FILE (path of .csv file from desktop)
         TABLES
           DATA_TAB                = I_APPFEED
    LOOP AT I_APPFEED INTO GWA_LOC_APP.
         SPLIT GWA_LOC_APP AT ','
        into wa_fields.
    append wa_fields to it_fields.
    endloop.
    loop at it_fields into wa_fields
    write: wa_fields-fields.
