Calling and returning to different Vi windows

Quick question. I want to write a project that has a main window with various buttons and when a button it clicked on i want the vi to call a different window on screen while simultaneously closing the main window. Once i'm finished with the second window and i close it i want the main window to automatically pop back up. how do i go about doing this.
I also would like the button i previously selected in the main window to now maybe change colour to show that it has been modified and i need some of the changes that were made in the secondary window available in the Main vi.
Hope i explained this clearly

You're in luck, I just did this the other day. Here's how I did it. ATP Main is the sub VI I'm calling. Put this into your main VI to close it while you pop up the sub VI. Set the sub VI to show the front panel when called (set its appearance to top level VI). The main VI will hide while the sub VI runs, then when you close the sub VI, the main VI will reappear.
Edit: forgot to show the reference to the main VI (This VI) connected to those property nodes.

  • Call and Return

    Hi, hope someone can help.....
    I have constructed an authorware piece that contains severel
    pages(Map icons) sitting on a framework icon.
    I currently have a display icon showing a Page xx of xx Pages
    display on each page. As there is 28 pages this means I have 28 of
    these Icons.
    I have tried to replace these 28 Icons with a single routine
    that is called from each page.
    I have added a new framework icon and called it extras, I
    then use a map Icon called PageStart, inserted several calculation
    and display icons as neccessary. I then use a Navigation Icon set
    to Call and Return to call the PageStart sub-routine. In the
    PageStart map Icon the last Icon is a Navigation Icon set to nearby
    - Exit Framework/Return.
    This does work a treat, however after the sub-routine is
    executed and the jump is made back to the original flowline
    everything contained in the sub-routine is wiped off the face of
    the planet. Just as if I had used an erase Icon.
    Am I doing this right????
    Is there a way to do this????

    We all like doing it the hard way when we're newbies :-). At
    this point in
    Authorware's history, there's probably no point in worrying
    about trying to
    outgrow that phase.

  • CXML Punchout to Supplier returns in different browser window.

    After checking out from suppliers shopping cart, when returning to iProc, it creates a new browser window and leaves the suppliers site open. How can I make the punchout return to the original window from where I executed the supplier punchout. We are on R12 using IE8, cxml
    thanks R

    Hi
    Raised a SR before posting here. Our implementation is with CXML so don't want to muddy the waters with XML. The cxml to set up the handshake with the supplier is PunchOutSetupRequest. I want to catch this chunk of cxml before we send it to the supplier. The relevant code in PunchOutSetupRequest is <Extrinsic name="FormpostTarget">_self</Extrinsic>
    If we replace the self with parent then the call back from the supplier opens in the correct window, but I don't want to custom any code - must be possible to amend the attribute for FormpostTarget

  • FLV Playback and Seekbar on different native windows in one Air application

    Hello Everyone.  I'm trying to make a simple video playback AIR application that utilizes the initial native window to house a transport control with a seekbar on it.  Once the application launches, it creates a second (new) window on my second screen and places a FLVPlayback instance on that new window.  Everything works just like it want it to except for one thing.  When the seekbar and FLVplayback instance are not located on the same window stage, the seekbar handle sticks to the mouse when trying to scrub through the video.
    I've added both the transport control and the FLVPlayback instance to the original native window as children and I have also added both of them to the new window as children and everything works just fine.  It's only when they are separated and located on different stages that the seekbar acts up.  When they are on the same stage, I can click on a point on the seekbar and the video jumps to that spot and continues to play and I can also scrub the seekbar, the video updates as I scrub, and when I release the mouse, the seekbar handle stays where I released the mouse.  When they on separate stages, the seekbar handle continues to follow the mouse movement without releasing it.  The video updates as the seekbar handle is moved due to it sticking to the mouse, but if I release the mouse, the handle is still moving with the mouse and the video is still being scrubbed.  Like I said, everything works great except for this and I have reached my limit with time spent on this issue.  Does anyone have any insight into this?
    Here's my code for the project.  This is my first AIR application, so I am coding it as I am learning, please be kind.

  • IDispatchMessageInspector.AfterReceiveRequest - bypass service call and return manually response

    Hi,
    I am using a service behavior class that implements IDispatchMessageInspector.AfterReceiveRequest to handle Health Check Service request that require skipping the actual operation's code and instead manually crafting a response message from "BeforeSendReply".
    I want to skip any processing on the request and instead want to return manual response from "BeforeSendReply".
    It has been pointed out in various forum threads that setting ref request parameter to null will skip the normal message processing and transition directly to BeforeSendReply. I have tracing enabled on my service and observe that underneath it still tries to
    deserialize the message and throws an exception:
    NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.DispatchOperationRuntime.DeserializeInputs(MessageRpc& rpc)
    System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.DispatchOperationRuntime.InvokeBegin(MessageRpc& rpc)
    System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage5(MessageRpc& rpc)
    System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage31(MessageRpc& rpc)
    System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.MessageRpc.Process(Boolean isOperationContextSet)
    any idea how can I skip the service call and instead return a manual response back?

    This is not correct (setting request to null to bypass the service), unfortunately WCF doesn't have any out-of-the-box way of doing that.
    You can, however, use a few more of the extensibility points in WCF to make this scenario work. You'll need at least an IDispatchMessageFormatter (to prevent the message from being read / deserialized since it's not necessary) and an IOperationInvoker (to
    actually bypass invoking the service method). You can use the operation context to pass information between those extensibility points.
    You can find more information about those three interfaces in my ongoing blog series about WCF extensibility points:
    IDispatchMessageInspector: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/carlosfigueira/archive/2011/04/19/wcf-extensibility-message-inspectors.aspx
    IDispatchMessageFormatter: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/carlosfigueira/archive/2011/05/03/wcf-extensibility-message-formatters.aspx
    IOperationInvoker: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/carlosfigueira/archive/2011/05/17/wcf-extensibility-ioperationinvoker.aspx

  • Compare data and return the different columns

    Good Afternoon,
    I am trying to compare the data in two tables and return only the columns and data where there is a difference.
    I have a compare script which checks every column in the two tables against each other, but as there are 200 columns in the tables it is tricky to see which column has a difference.
    So in my result set if coulum N is the differenct I would only want to return column N from both tables in the result set.
    I hope that this all makes sense?.

    Easiest way is to use tablediff utility for checking difference between tables

  • How to know that a method has been called and returning value of a method

    Hi, everyone! I have two questions. One is about making judgment about whether a method has been called or not; another one is about how to return "String value+newline character+String value" with a return statement.
    Here are the two original problems that I tried to solve.
    Write a class definition of a class named 'Value' with the following:
    a boolean instance variable named 'modified', initialized to false
    an integer instance variable named 'val'
    a constructor accepting a single paramter whose value is assigned to the instance variable 'val'
    a method 'getVal' that returns the current value of the instance variable 'val'
    a method 'setVal' that accepts a single parameter, assigns its value to 'val', and sets the 'modified' instance variable to true, and
    a boolean method, 'wasModified' that returns true if setVal was ever called.
    And I wrote my code this way:
    public class Value
    boolean modified=false;
    int val;
    public Value(int x)
    {val=x;}
      public int getVal()
      {return val;}
       public void setVal(int y)
        val = y;
        modified = true;
         public boolean wasModified()
          if(val==y&&modified==true)
          return true;
    }I tried to let the "wasModified" method know that the "setVal" has been called by writing:
    if(val==y&&modified==true)
    or
    if(x.setVal(y))
    I supposed that only when the "setVal" is called, the "modified" variable will be true(it's false by default) and val=y, don't either of this two conditions can prove that the method "setVal" has been called?
    I also have some questions about the feedback I got
    class Value is public, should be declared in a file named Value.java
    public class Value
    cannot find symbol
    symbol  : variable y
    location: class Value
    if(val==y&&modified==true)
    *^*
    *2 errors*
    I gave the class a name Value, doesn't that mean the class has been declared in a file named Value.java*?
    I have declared the variable y, why the compiler cann't find it? is it because y has been out of scale?
    The other problem is:
    Write a class named  Book containing:
    Two instance variables named  title and  author of type String.
    A constructor that accepts two String parameters. The value of the first is used to initialize the value of  title and the value of the second is used to initialize  author .
    A method named  toString that accepts no parameters.  toString returns a String consisting of the value of  title , followed by a newline character, followed by the value of  author .
    And this is my response:
    public class Book
    String title;
    String author;
      public Book(String x, String y)
       { title=x; author=y; }
       public String toString()
       {return title;
        return author;
    }I want to know that is it ok to have two return statements in a single method? Because when I add the return author; to the method toString, the compiler returns a complain which says it's an unreachable statement.
    Thank you very much!

    Lets take this slow and easy. First of all, you need to learn how to format your code for readability. Read and take to heart
    {color:0000ff}http://java.sun.com/docs/codeconv/html/CodeConvTOC.doc.html{color}
    Now as to your first exercise, most of it is OK but not this:   public boolean wasModified()
          if (val == y && modified == true)
                return true;
    y being a parmeter to the setValue method exists only within the scope of that method. And why would you want to test that anyways? If modified evaluates to true, that's all you need to know that the value has been modified. So you could have   public boolean wasModified()
          if (modified == true)
                return true;
       }But even that is unnecessarily verbose, as the if condition evaluates to true, and the same is returned. So in the final analysis, all you need is   public boolean wasModified()
          return modified;
       }And a public class has to be declared in a file named for the class, yes.
    As for your second assignment, NO you cannot "return" two variables fom a method. return means just that: when the return statement is encountered, control returns to the calling routine. That's why the compiler is complaining that the statement following the (first) return statement is unreachable.
    Do you know how to string Strings together? (it's called concatenation.) And how to represent a newline in a String literal?

  • After hiding photoshop and returning, all collapsed document windows uncollapse

    Hi,
    I'm on Photoshop CS6 with my documents in the 'float all in wondows' view. I have say 20 documents open, 19 collapsed into the dock with the one document left i'm working on. I hide photoshop to go to the desktop, click back into photoshop when done. As i return to photoshop all of the previously collapsed documents reappear one by one and fill up my workspace. I then need to collapse all of my documents once again to leave just the one I'm working on. This was never an issue in earlier versions, does anyone know how to override? thanks.

    I'm assuming you're on a Mac. That is a Mac OS native feature. I'm afraid you can't disable that from Photoshop.
    Alternatively, 2 workarounds I see here:
    Instead of 'floating' your documents individually, why don't you tab them together and switch between them using tabs?
    This way, all your documents will be open within 1 parent container, you can switch between them using Cmd + ` or Shift + Cmd + ` (backwards)
    Another option you could try in your current workflow is not to 'Hide Photoshop'. Set a 'Hot Corner' in Mac OS to 'Show Desktop'. For example, the way my workflow is setup is - it will show Desktop when I move my mouse over to the extreme top left corner. To do this, Mac OS > System Preferences > Desktop & Screensaver > Screensaver > Hot Corners

  • OBIEE 11g and Weblogic on different Servers - Windows 2008 R2

    Hi
    Can we install OBIEE 11g(BI Server and Presentation Servers) on one server and weblogic and another server. We have a requirement where we need to differentiate all the components on to its own server for performance reasons. How can we do the configurations if we have installed on how to talk to weblogic after the installations.
    Thanks

    Yes we can do that
    a) Install BIS and BIPS on one server and deploy BIPS plug-in on Weblogic server where it is installed,so the both will talk with the weblogic server.

  • RFC Call not returning in normal exec;retunrs in debugger

    Hi all
    i m sorry for posting it twice,due to my ignorance
    i first posted it in wrong forum
    i had a requirement to invoke a RFC Async and recieve the results in my program with a condition that the name and parameters of RFC are determined runtime.
    To meet this requirement, i generated a the RFC call and return form code dynamically and called that code from my program via a subroutine.
    The problem i am facing is that, whenever i execute my program in debug mode the RFCs are called and the parameters are returned( perform on end of task edition is used)
    via subroutine, but when i execute the code via F8 the program goes in indefinite wait for return parameters.I am calling 2-3 RFcs at same time, and all of them are on local host.
    the Functions are working well and the RFC destination is also working well.
    But this amalgum of my program and dynamic calls is not going through.
    I read in documentation that if we change the program context or the roll area then the results are not recieved by main program. by the way i am using WAIT to receive the results.
    For the moment if i consider, my program context or roll area is getting changed because of dynamic code generation then also the dynamically generated code is the one containing the RFC call and its revieve subroutine, therefore there shall be no problem with that, the other thought i am getting is that in debugger implict commit work happens, is the program working because of that in debugger?? i dont know....
    Can any one help me with this, in the above long paragraph if anyone gets confused..i can again try to restate my problem.
    One more thing..i have checked the ST22 and SM50 for any abnormalities, couold not find one.
    thanks in advance
    praveen

    WAIT statement also triggers a DB commit like debugger.
    Are you using WAIT UNTIL <condition>?

  • I Bought the MacBook Air...  and returned it, and returned it again, etc...

    Thank you for everyones help here in helping make my decision on buying the MacBook Air. I decided to buy one. So the story goes I ended up buying and returning 3 different MacBook Air with the SSD because they all had the grey lines. Very frustrating to say the least. After I returned the last one I happened to be visiting Best Buy the same day. They had a MacBook Air HDD version on display. This particular one had no lines and looked very nice. As a side note, the lines are a deal breaker for anyone wondering. I use Word and Pages a lot, and the grey lines are an easy distraction against the white background.
    I ended up looking at the serial number and display manufacturer information on the MacBook Air that was on display at BestBuy. The panel number was 00009C8F and the serial number indicated it had been built in week 53 of 2008. Fortunately the lock up cage for the MacBook Air was right beneath the table the computer was displayed on. They had a brand new one in stock with the same build week, but it was a HDD version. I had already made my mind up that I was buying the MacBook Air with SSD, but after the experience at the Apple Store (buying and returning 3 different ones) I was going to try the on-line store. I thought what the heck do I have to lose. I bought it! I got it home powered it on, and the screen had no grey lines! YAHOO! In addition, after using the HDD version for a couple hours I think I saved myself $700. I could not tell the difference in speed (except in cold boot times, marginally) between the SSD and the HDD.
    In conclusion, I wonder if the SSD has something to do with the grey lines. It is more of a conspiracy theory at this point, but I got my MBA without grey lines and I am happy! Thanks for everyones help in provide buying information.

    Hi Soft Reset,
    I do agree with you that it is not hardware related to the hard drive type. I just could not believe that I could not find an SSD without problems. Like I stated though, I was pleasenty surprised by the performance of the HDD version. In the end I think I saved $700, but to reiterate, I am just using office, internet, and e-mail. Therefore the SSD is really not a neccessity. If they come out with a REV C and a bump in SSD sizes, I will probably sucomb to upgrading. Thanks again!

  • How can I exit a collection window and return to parent folder?

    I would "love" to have a place where I could ask the simple questions like this that come up and seem so simple to those who know, they don't mention the details I need like how to close a working collection window and move back to the parent folder of that collection.
    I've been stuck for two days (it happened before) in a window (library module) with a collection of 8 photos.  I cannot find any way to close that window or go back to the library collection of hundreds of photos from which it was chosen.  It's very frustrating to be stuck in this window, perhaps forever?
    How do I close these windows.  Isn't there a "back" button?
    I started in Photoshop 3, then 5, then 7, then stopped renewing due to difficulty learning PS until the Adobe CC became available with the many tutorials.  It was great learning how to make a collection, but the tutorials didn't mention how to get back to the main folder where the collection was chosen.  So again, I"m stuck at an even lower level of functioning than with photoshop alone.
    I had to copy a photo and open it separatly in Photoshop just to be able to work on it.  Yesterday I could "edit in Photoshop cc" with right click.  Today, it won't even do that.
    I suspect now two things are working to prevent me from working properly on my photos but have no clue how to fix this.

    In the library module, left-hand panel, there are different sections or tabs. Collections is one of those tabs near the bottom out that panel. If you scroll up in that panel you should see other sections, one of which is "Folders". If that isn't showing, then right-click on the Collections section heading and make sure there are checkmarks in the sections that you want to have displayed. To return to the folder you need to go to the folders section and find the folder in your list.
    Another way to return to a folder is to click in the area in this illustration:
    Doing so will present a list of folders that you have recently been inside of. You can click on one of those folders and return directly to it.

  • Call external URL from ABAP userexit, capture data and return it to SAP?

    My apologies if this question has been asked before, but I've searched for a few hours today and haven't found anything directly related to my question.  Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide!
    I would like to be able to make a call from an SAP userexit during Sales Order Entry in the VA01 transaction in the SD module to an external website, allow the user to capture some data in the external site and then pass that data back into the userexit where I can use it to populate internal tables, etc.
    I'm completely unfamiliar with Web Dynpro programming, but this seems like a good place to start my search for a solution.
    Does this sound like a problem that can be solved with Web Dynpro and what documentation or code examples should I reference to go about building such a solution.
    I should also note that I'm hoping to build a solution that could be called from any userexit in R/3, SAP ERP, SAP CRM, etc. and would obviously need to learn about what dependencies to consider (ex: SAP GUI version, SAP product release number, Web AS release, etc.).
    Eric

    Thank you for the response.  Let me provide some additional information.
    The external application will be a Hosted Web page.  It is not an SAP system.
    The external application will be a web page served by a separate system outside of the company domain(shouldn't matter what the technology is I would think - but the web page will be hosted by a different company than the one calling the URL) that would appear as a web page in which the user will enter data, logic will be performed on that data and then some or all of the data would need to be passed back to the calling point in SAP.
    For practical discussions it doesn't matter to me if the call in ABAP occurs in an SD userexit, in a custom report, in an HR screen or in a CRM business partner screen.  There will be many places where this external application may be called from and I'm just trying to figure out how to call an external HTTPS URL and return data from that web page to the calling point in ABAP.
    I hope that clarifies my question.
    Thanks!
    Eric

  • Call and Execute Multiple Windows of the same VI

    Hi,
    I would like to call and execute multiple windows of the same VI.
    Please take a look for my attached vi, and start from the 2x2.vi, i think you have to re-enter the file path to run (sorry for inconvenience).
    If I click the start button in different sub panels, the sub vi(Temperature Analysis.vi..& etc) should be called out in multiple windows, hold it, and run simultaneously.
    But now the problem is, the sub vi is called out 1 by 1 until it is finished prior the second sub vi is called.
    May I know how to solve that?
    Thanks.

  • Call long running process and return immediately

    Hi everyone,
    Here' my problem : I am calling an onDemand application process when clicking on a button. It's a very long running process; and while waiting for the response my browser stops responding (white page).
    So, is there a way to call a process and return immediately to the javascript. The process will set a field to a given value when it finishes. In javascript side, I can then check in a while boucle the value of this field to know if the process has ended.But I dont know how to return just after the application process call ...
    Thanks and best regards,
    Othman

    I presume that you can achieve that by means of a batch job.
    You can use an automatic page reload every X seconds until a certain "flag" (or similar mechanism) changes state and check it in a before header process. In the meanwhile you can display some animated GIF for instance.
    Once the processing is completed you remove the reload timer from the header or you branch to a different page using a programmatic technique like procedure owa_util.redirect_url.
    Bye,
