Calling functions in a package from jdbc

I am trying to call a function in a PL/SQL package from a java program using JDBC. Is this a valid option? The statement I am using is the following:
stProc = myconnect.prepareCall ("{? = call process_monitor_pkg.open_sod_cursor}");
I am receiving the following error message:
Errorjava.sql.SQLException: ORA-06576: not a function or procedure
I have verified that the function/package is defined and that I have the correct output parameter registered.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try this :
stProc = myconnect.prepareCall (
"{ ? = call process_monitor_pkg.open_sod_cursor() }");
You have to put parenthesis even if there's no parameters...

  • Call a function inside a package from a stored procedure

    Hello:
    I am kind of new to the stored procedure. Does anyone know how to call a function inside a package from another stored procedure?
    I have a existing function (func_b) inside a package (pack_a) and it returns a cursor. I want to call this function from a stored procedure (proc_c) so that I use the data inside the cursor.
    can I do the following in proc_c:
    my_cursor1 SYS_REFCURSOR;
    begin
    my_cursor1 := exec pack_a.func_b
    end
    It will be very helpful if anyone can point me to any reading or example. Thank you very much for your information.

    guys:
    Thank you for your information so far. I need some more help here. I was able to run the function in my stored procedure. However, I was not able to print the result on the screen to view the cursor result, although I am using dbms_output.put_line statement inside my stored procedure.
    I use the following statement to execute my stored procedure on sql*plus. I can tell the stored procedure is executed successfully, but I did see anything printed:
    DECLARE TEMP VARCHAR2(100);
    BEGIN PROC_LAWS_CAD_NAME_SEARCH('LPD', 'TEST DEVICE ID', 'TEST LAST NAME', 'TEST FIRST NAME', 'F', '11112009', TEMP); END;

    Hi ,
    I have to add some busines funtionality to the standard existing oco page .
    i have extened the standard controller and add the validation logic there , now if the validation is true i have to call a pl/sql package to do some functions . now i am facing few issues here
    a) can i call a pl/sql package from a controller ?
    b) should i extend the standard AM and call the pl/sql package from the extended am . is extending am allowed ?
    please let me know the best sol to achieve this

    a) can i call a pl/sql package from a controller ?<b>Yes</b> you can call a pl/sql procedure from controller through <b>OracleCallableStatement</b> object.
    <br>
    b) should i extend the standard AM and call the pl/sql package from the extended am . is extending am allowed ?Extending AM is <b>allowed</b>, but as can achieve your goal through the CO extension, why bother to touch AM :)

  • CALL function to extract data from a structure table

    Hi Gurus,
    Anyone knows how to write a call function to extract data from a structure table?
    Your help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks alot.

    Hi,
    structure doesnot hold any data. instead of it you can check the stucture in which table it is used, find the table name,use select query to extract the data u needed.
    you can use where used list option to find the structure in which table it is used.

  • Calling oracle function defined within package from JPA

    Hi All,
    I am trying to call a function get_owner() defined under a package pkg_x_y.
    But I get an error when I do
    entityManager.createNativeQuery("call pkg_x_y.get_owner()");
    Caused by: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis
    What is the correct way to execute this function?
    Thanks in advance.

    JPA 2.1 standardized stored procedure support, and is available within EclipseLink 2.5 as described here: http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Release/2.5/JPA21#Stored_Procedures
    If you are unable to use JPA 2.1, you can use EclipseLink's stored procedure support as described here: http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/StoredProcedures
    The problem you are getting with your call though might be coming from within the stored proc itself, not the native query execution.  Its hard to tell - are you able to execute the query on your database directly, such as through SQLPlus?

  • How to call functions that return package local types?

    Hi everyone, I have a Pl/Sql function in a package that returns a package-local type.
    I would like to call this function from Java, but I don't know what to pass to "statement.registerOutParameter()"
    (it gives this error:
    Unable to resolve type: "XDRIVE_B2B.TEST1.MYTYPE)
    Here's the simple version with one package:
    package TESTPKG IS
    TYPE MYTYPE IS VARRAY(1) OF INTEGER;
    FUNCTION FCT2 RETURN MYTYPE;
    end;
    package body testpkg IS
    FUNCTION FCT2 RETURN MYTYPE IS
    BEGIN
    RETURN mytype(55);
    END;
    end;
    and here's the java code:
    void javatest(OracleConnection conn)
    throws SQLException
    String sql = "{ call ? = testpkg.fct2() }";
    OracleCallableStatement st =
    (OracleCallableStatement) conn.prepareCall(sql);
    st.registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.ARRAY, "MYUSERNAME.TESTPKG.MYTYPE");
    st.execute();
    and as I said above, the java code fails with:
    java.sql.SQLException: Fail to construct descriptor: Unable to resolve type: "MYUSERNAME.TEST1.MYTYPE"
    I can't really have this type live outside of a package because in the real case, it's not a VARRAY(1) of integer, it's a VARRAY(1) of MYTABLE%ROWTYPE, which only seems to compile inside a package.
    thanks for any opinions,
    george moudry

    JDBC, JPublisher, and SQLJ do not support PL/SQL-only types. This includes PL/SQL index tables and record types.

  • Call function in external .js from stage.onCompletion

    I have my edge composition, and some functions in sim.js

    how can I call functions, e.g. "testMe()" that are in sim.js from within the stage.onCompletion event?
    $("testMe()"); was my first thought, but no. what am I missing?

    Lloydie maybe you can help me with this similar problem here (i think it is similar)
    I am uncertain that i can use "transform" in edge, transform belongs to jquery.transform.js library. I am particulalry interested in animate({transform:.... to animate rotation and scales.
    Can I call the transform.js into the stage like the way you called your custom .js?
    Can we import additional libraries ?

  • Call function in the package ....

    I have interesting problem. It's interesting because it works on one server and does not work on another, both servers are ORACLE 10.2.0.2 on Solaris 10, both have identical users.
    when I call pkg_utilities_public.GET_CURRENT_POST_DATE (sysdate) I get correct result on one server and error ORA-00904: "PKG_UTILITIES_PUBLIC"."GET_DATE": invalid identifier on the other, I have a user with DBA rights ...
    what's even more interesting that I can compile this on both servers with no issue
    the issues is how I call GET_DATE, I call it as GET_DATE instead of PKG_UTILITIES_PUBLIC.GET_DATE (lazy way but still should work on both) any idea why this works on one server and not the other? If I call it with PKG_UTILITIES_PUBLIC.GET_DATE it works on both, so I have solution, but I'm wondering why the first thing does not work.

    speaking technical and not personal, I think this is related to serilization of SQL engine from PLSQL engine,
    both samples below work on SERVER A,
    sanple 1 does not work on server B, sample 2 works on server B (you can see I removed the call from SQL into PLSQL (this is generally better approach).
    FUNCTION GET_CURRENT_POST_DATE(v_date DATE) RETURN DATE IS
    v_output_dt DATE;
    BEGIN
    SELECT TO_DATE(GET_DATE(DECODE( POST_DT_FLG,'Y',PERIOD_KEY,'N', PRIOR_POST_DT_KEY)),'YYYYMMDD')
    INTO v_output_dt
    FROM FDM.PERIOD
    WHERE PERIOD_TYPE_CD = 'D'
    AND PERIOD_DT = TRIM(v_date);
    RETURN v_output_dt;
    END;
    FUNCTION GET_CURRENT_POST_DATE(v_date DATE) RETURN DATE IS
    v_output_dt DATE;
    v_my_date NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    SELECT DECODE( POST_DT_FLG,'Y',PERIOD_KEY,'N', PRIOR_POST_DT_KEY)
    INTO v_my_date
    FROM FDM.PERIOD
    WHERE PERIOD_TYPE_CD = 'D'
    AND PERIOD_DT = TRIM(v_date);
    v_output_dt := TO_DATE(GET_DATE(v_my_date ),'YYYYMMDD');
    RETURN v_output_dt;

  • Call function in main timeline from class file

    Hi all, How can a function in main timeline be called from class file?

    Hi all, How can a function in main timeline be called from class file?
    You can, but you really shouldn't.
    Classes shouldn't "talk" to the outside directly.
    Use Event dispatching to get things done.
    "root" (i just threw up by just typing that word) should be avoided at all cost, especially in AS3.

  • How to call function in the plugin from javascript?

    Hi,
    I have some function inside my plugin which i want to call from javascript. Is it possible? Sorry, im new to plugin programming.
    For example, i have plugin with function func() which i want to call from external javascript. In what way i will be able to achieve this?
    Thanks.

    Thank you sir for the help.
    Is it possible to assign ID to function and specifying that ID during executeAction call in script?
    Like at the time of executeaction call we will specify pluginID and functionID as parameter so that function will execute from the respective plugin. Is it possible ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Gurus,
    I need to call a procedure or package from Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.2.1 by passing parameters, I do it because it would be easier to fill a table as the report that asks for is too complex (8 breaks, 5 dblinks, 20 tables, etc).

    Re: Stored procedures and dynamic columns

    ent is a objective C class with a method GetBBox
    wich I use in hundred of places with out problem.
    Beside that is not the problem that.
    Well, you've got me on this one. You are correct. Apparently you don't need to specify the parameter names. Still, I strongly encourage you to use parameter names. Even though they apparently aren't required, I've never seen them not used. I would have expected to see:
    [ent GetBBoxMin: & minBox max: & maxBox]
    The problem is calling C function that are declared in .m files.
    if you read the errors, they are linking errors not compiler errors.
    this is a C function that is declared in a .m file
    struct dVector size = SubVector(&maxBox, &minBox);
    beside I also use those functions in many other place as well in teh project and they work.
    If it helps I can post a link to the a download place to the xcode project maybe it is eassy to see what I am trying to do.
    That would probably be a good idea.
    Normally, all you need is
    extern "C"
    but there is so much missing from what you've posted that I can't tell for sure what is going on.

  • Call function inside running class

    Hey All,
    i have a two question in classes.
    1- i have class and i called its before and its running on runtime. i need to call function inside this class from another class, but without call the first one again, because if i called it, it will run default class function again
    is this doable ?
    2- What super() mean ?
    Thanks a lot.

    this is the default call, and when i call the method by this way its will run the default class function before call the method.
    here my example:
    i need to call checkboxes  function in ChannelsMain class without pass by the grey script.
    Note: the call_cb is working and the trace is working
    so i now the class is running, i need to call the checkboxes without ( var ci:YourClass = new YourClass(); )
    package com.link
         import fl.controls.CheckBox;
         import flash.events.*;
         public class ChannelsMain
              var cbLength:uint = Main.PV.channel_id.length;
              public function ChannelsMain()
                   // constructor code
                   for (var i:int = 0; i < cbLength; i++)
                        var cb:CheckBox = new CheckBox;
                        cb.name = Main.PV.channel_id[i];
                        cb.label = Main.PV.channel_name[i];
                        cb.x = 50;
                        cb.y = 50 + i * 30;
                        cb.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE,call_cb);
                        Main.MS.addChild(cb);
                        //call xml function
                        if(i == cbLength - 1)
                             new ChannelsXML();
              private function call_cb(evt:Event)
                   trace(evt.currentTarget.name,evt.currentTarget.selected);
              public function checkboxes(evt)
                   trace(evt);

  • How to call at PL/SQL package?

    Hi,
    How to call a PL/SQL package from withing a VORowImpl?
    Also what packages need to be imported for this?
    Thanks,
    AD

    Hi,
    Thanks for the replies friends.
    I understand this is not a good practice to call a pl/sql package. I tried as per the OAF standards.
    My requirement is to display the GL String in a region of type table. This is in iExpense and the region is (ReviewBusinessCCardTblRN.xml) i.e. the Review page in the Expense report creation steps.
    The data in this region is not coming directly from one VO. There are two VOs involved in it.
    1> BusinessCCardLinesForReviewVO
    2> ReceiptBasedLinesVO (This is the actual source of data and it contains a SQL statement)
    The "BusinessCCardLinesForReviewVORowImpl" calls methods in "ReceiptBasedLinesVORowImpl" to get all the data.
    So, my approach was to
    1> Extend "ReceiptBasedLinesVO" and add an attribute for the GL String in the SQL statement.
    2> Write a method in the "ReceiptBasedLinesVOExRowImpl" to fetch the GL String.
    3> Extend BusinessCCardLinesForReviewVO and add an attribute for the GL String.
    4> In the extended VO's (BusinessCCardLinesForReviewVOExRowImpl) row impl, call "ReceiptBasedLinesVOExRowImpl" GL String method.
    5> Then use "BusinessCCardLinesForReviewVO" GL string attribute to display in the region.
    Is there anything wrong with this approach?
    But, this does not seem to be working.
    Steps 3, 4, 5 are working as I tested with hard coded values in "BusinessCCardLinesForReviewVOExRowImpl".
    But when I call method in "ReceiptBasedLinesVOExRowImpl" to get the GL String, it does not working. No error returned. The page displays all the values as it was displaying in the standard functionality.
    As this is an urgent requirement, I thought of writting a PL/SQL function which would take CCID from "BusinessCCardLinesForReviewVO" and return the GL String.
    And call this PL/SQL funtion in "BusinessCCardLinesForReviewVOExRowImpl".
    Please help me on this.
    Srini: Could you please give the exact syntax for calling the PL/SQL stored function in VORowImpl.
    Thanks,
    AD
