Can a file be sent in TCP as a stream?

I am trying to implement a simple file transfer
operation using TCP/IP sockets. I have found
information about sending streams, but not packets. Is
it possible to send files as streams? or even better,
how do i implement sending packets using TCP/IP?TCP/IP has a layered design so you don't have to worry about the detail. When you use a stream, the data written to it (transparently to you) divided into packets, sent across the network and reassembled at the other end.

You need to read up on how to create a Socket and write data into its output stream.
And for the other end of the connection how to have a ServerSocket listening for such connections and doing something with data when it is received.

Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane. Then log back in and re-enable, respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

Can't overwrite files once sent as Mail attachments

Apparently Mail claims a file once sent as an attachment and won't release it unless Mail is quit. Meaning you can't save over pdf's or jpegs once you email them. Puts a kink in my work flow. All day I see... can't create PDF, file is in use. No it's not! Any crafty work arounds out there? I could have sworn they fixed this in Snow Leapord. Thanks in advance.

I think it just depends on your hardware's buffer size. TCP sets limits on the size of packets that can be seent. What are you trying to do?

try to rebuild the index file.
Right click on Sent folder and select 'Properties'
click on 'Repair folder' button
click on OK
close and reopen Thunderbird.
It may also be possible that there are a lot of sent messages in the file.
If rebuilding the index gets you access:
# Delete any emails you do not want.
# Archive all other emails or at least anything older than a month.
# right click on folder and select 'Compact'

How do i get both my IPAD devices to display the PDF icons/attachments? Bearing in mind if i open the same email over the internet the PDF Icons/attachments display OK!

This happens to me all the time.
If is a one page PDF it seems as though it comes over already open and inline in the body of the email. Multiple page PDF files show as the PDF icon.
I can't find any official documentation of this - other than based on my own experience with PDF attachments in my various email accounts.

I am developing an application where I want to notify about file being sent in Microsoft Exchange. So, I have implemented notifications on the message store and trying to retrieve the file name. The problem is filename of only eight characters can be retrieved
when a file is sent as an attachment using OWA. I am attaching 2 snapshots of the attachment table of two emails. I have sent a file as attachment using OWA (results shown in first snapshot) and using Microsoft Outlook (results shown in the second snapshot).
Also the properties of attachment are less when a file is sent as an attachment in email using OWA.

I would recommend PSE11/PRE11 if you want to use them on an integrated basis. Only the current product is supported by Adobe. Or you could get PRE10 if you are not concerned about support.
But be aware that one version will not integrate with another. They will work as stand alone apps but you would loose some flexibility. For example I start in the Slideshow editor in PSE, add my photos and transitions and then click Output >> Edit with PRE. The slideshow gets sent automatically as a clip and I can do further editing, add video, add music and narration etc.

If he's reading the email in Outlook, that shouldn't break up the links.
Do you know: is your recipient clicking on the View File button or the URL link?

Adobe Reader does not open .EXE files, it opens .PDF files. If you were on Windows I would tell you to fix the file association, but I have no idea how to do that on a Mac.

Have them install Quicktime on their PC's from Apple's website, that's the easiest fix.

My SENT mailbox is empty on my computer, mail up til yesterday is on mobileme on browser. I used to have 'my .mac account' and 'on my computer' as mailboxes. 'On my computer' has disappeared. HOW can I restore my SENT mail list? tnx

I'll try archiving from mobileme mail on browser... I can't open the SENT mailbox on TIme Machine on my computer. [It's not the end of the world to lose my Sent Mail, bcz it is still availble via brwoser, but I prefer to be in charge of my computer, not it in charge of me :-D]

I am trying to figure out how I can add a "File Folder" to my TC so that I can save files directly to it? The only folder it displays is "Data" which is where my bac ups save...

Double click on the "Data" folder in the Finder under the SHARED heading, and then click the gear icon at the top of the window and select New Folder.
You can name this folder anything you wish and also create as many folders as you wish.
If you are also using the Time Capsule drive for Time Machine backups, it is not really recommended that you "mix" regular files with Time Machine backups because there will be a struggle for space on the drive at some point.
If you have plenty of free space on the Time Capsule drive, you may be OK with keeping a portion dedicated for regular files.
