Can a flash app resize itself?

Hi all! Is it possible for a Flash/Flex app to resize itself,
or can this be done only with Javascript?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is very possible.
First you have to set up all of the parts relative to the
sides of the application frame, so that when you resize the frame,
the stuff inside resizes too.
Then do something like
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute" width="100%" minWidth="620px" height="100%"
minHeight="460px">
So that when the window is resized, the application will
resize to fit into the window. and when the application resizes to
fit the window, the stuff inside will resize too, and if you do it
right, then it will be real smooth.
The minWidth is so because at a certain point you can't make
it smaller without loosing functionality... but you don't have to
use it.

         The issue is when watching a flash video through websites like youtube the video will constantly resize itself. What I mean by this is that for example the copyright disclaimer that appears before trailers. The video will zoom into the middle of the screem then go back to normal this happens every 3-5 seconds or so, which did not happen when I first finished the reinstallation of the OS, but it kept telling me that I needed to upgraded to the latest adobe and when I did the problem occured again.
         I've gotten it to work in Full Screen Mode with no resizing with adobe flash 9 and it happens less with adobe flash 9, but with Adobe Flash Player 10 it starts having the same issue. I've rolled back to Flash Player 9 and it still happens in windowed mode, but alot less frequent than with Adobe Flash 10. Java is fully upto date as well. Also sometimes the Menu Bar will be offset so if I hover over to the Full screen option, the symbol appears in the middle of the player rather then at the bottom which is why I think its all related to flash.
          This does not happen in Windows Media Player, which is why I don't think its a video card issue as there are no other distortions other then in Flash based videos. I have not tested any other browser except IE7 and IE8. I've turned off hardware acceleration within Adobe Flash and it still happens. If anyone else has encountered this issue and has come across a fix please let me know.

  • Can not Update App Because Never "Owned Major Version"  I never owned any version.  It just appeared and now I cannot get rid of it.

    I cannot delete it with the X because it was never on my phone in the first place.  It doesn't show up when I hook it up to Itunes.  And it doesn't show up on my ipad.  The app is MotionXGPS.  Is it a virus?  Thanks.

    Same here. Just becoming a nightmare. Updated iTunes and now can't update apps it itself is showing as available updates. Count me in on the latest "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software." bug.
    Next I have to post about a new problem in iPhoto on a new thread.... it lost the "link" between some but not all photos I have in the library and what it itself posted to FaceBook a few hours ago...
    Incredibly frustrating.

    Pages for Ipad freezes when I try to delete a document. Documents start to flash on and off. Can't turn app off, or turn Ipad off.

    FWIW, think I found a solution to this problem elsewhere on this forum. Go to Settings / General / Accessibility on your iPad. Check to see if you have enabled "Bold Text" and if so turn that off. The iPad now restarts. In my case (and others) things are now back to normal with iWorks file management functions.
    I can now rename files, delete them, and do other file management tasks in all iWorks apps on iPad without the apps freezing or freezing the iPad. Would like to give credit to the user who posted that but can't find it at the moment - he claimed that an Apple Tech suggested the fix when he called about it, so they know about it and hopefully will get fixed eventually.

  • Can Edge animation scale/resize like Flash and Canvas

    One of our biggest concern right now is animation made with Adobe Edge can't scale and resize like Flash or Canvas (and we are not talking about fluid or responsive design) Is that true? Our animations need to allow user zoom in or zoom out without any restrictions, can we build our animation with Adobe Edge?
    Thanks

    The best solution I've found is to override the width of your stage div in CSS to auto!important. Then, use media queries to resize your div, using the CSS zoom property (and scale transform for Firefox).
    /*  Example CSS for an Edge stage div of 800px width  */
    #MY-EDGE-STAGE-DIV{width:auto!important;max-width:800px;}
    @media screen and (min-width: 1px) and (max-width: 480px)
              #MY-EDGE-STAGE-DIV{zoom:0.5;-moz-transform: scale(0.5);}
    @media screen and (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 600px)
              #MY-EDGE-STAGE-DIV{zoom:0.6;-moz-transform: scale(0.6);}
    @media screen and (min-width: 601px) and (max-width: 800px)
              #MY-EDGE-STAGE-DIV{zoom:0.8;-moz-transform: scale(0.8);}
    @media screen and (min-width: 801px) and (max-width: 50000px)
              #MY-EDGE-STAGE-DIV{zoom:1;-moz-transform: scale(1);}

  • Flash Builder: Can't export apps to Android 4.3 device

    Flash Builder Problem: Can't export apps to my Android device now that it was upgrade to Android 4.3
    I just installed Android 4.3 and all the problems started. Everything was working great with 4.2.2.
    Is this a know issue? I can't even build a simple Hello World mobile app.
    Also some of my previously installed Flex apps will not run on my 4.3 device. Some old apps do
    run and this is very confusing as all where created with Flash Builder 4.7 and Air 3.7.
    Does Air 3.8 resolve this issue?
    My system:
    Mac Flash Builder 4.7 with Air 3.7

    My Nexus 7 Android 4.3 developer options setting:
    1- USB debugging (checked ON)
    2- Verify apps over USB (checked ON)
    My steps:
    1- built a very basic Hello World mobile app in Flash Builder 4.7 with Air 3.7
    2- Select Debug As…
    3- Flash Builder starts as normal
    4- I normally see (in the bottom right hand ) Launching 6%  - 57%,  then it launches the app on the device.
    5- With 4.3 I see the following Launching 6%  - 57% - 58% …. 100%
    6- Now I get a dialog box that says "The Flash Builder debugger failed to connect …."
    I have a Nexus Galaxy phone running 4.2.2, and this same Hello World works perfectly.

  • Can flash app work with GigE ethernet Camera?

    Hi there,
    Have anyone have similiar experience work with GigE ethernet camera with flash app?
    recently need to test high resolution with high fps such as 1600x1200 @60 fps work with flash application or it required to via other C#/delphi/C++ programming to work together?
    In windows xp environment
    all GigE are connected  local , not to internet server.
    this product looks like fit my need :prosilica GX1660
    please be advised,
    Vossler

    The best way you can go in my opinion is developing a java application that connects and controls the camera, then you can use merapi to call java functions
    Merapi is a Java-AS3 bridge (http://merapiproject.net/)

  • Illustrator CS6 application window resizing itself to bottom half of display

    All of the sudden when opening AI or even PS on my external display (Dell U2414Q) the application 'resizes' itself to take up the bottom 1/2 of the screen. Dragging the application to the top or maximizing the window results in the application resizing itself again. Does not happen with any other apps including native apps running on my 2014 retina macbook pro. Also does not happen when only using the retina macbook pro display. Worked just fine for over 4 months until this sudden change. Seems to work okay when the retina macbook pro is in clamshell mode as well via the dell display.
    Please advise how to resolve this issues. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling CS6.
    Thanks

    Yes i am on Yosemite 10.10.2
    that is reassuring as its not something i am screwing up as I figured it can't be cs6 since its never updated anymore - - - ill keep an eye out for any updates

  • Can't Flex apps scale to fit browser window?

    This has been brought up a couple of times, but seems to be a
    mystery: How does one scale all content to fit the browser window,
    preserving aspect ratio, and centering the content vertically or
    horizontally (depending on whether the window aspect ratio is less
    than or greater than the content aspect ratio)?
    Since Flash is vector-based, I would have thought this would
    be straightforward and encouraged!
    Some information in an earlier post, plus experimentation on
    my part, has yielded a bizarre and inflexible partial solution -
    using StageScaleMode, and sizing the app's base container to
    exactly 500x375 pixels, I can get content that scales with
    the window size and doesn't have mismatched margins (though I
    haven't figured out how to center it yet). In addition, there are
    ugly scaling artifacts (look at the drop-shadows as you change the
    browser window size).
    Again, not being a Flash programmer, I baffled that this
    isn't better supported, but I have to admit, most of the Flash apps
    I've seen in the wild seem to all be fixed at some ridiculous size
    like 640x480 or something. Are there some serious bugs here, or am
    I missing something? Is there a better approach?
    Here's a simple, complete, example (based on an example from
    an earlier thread, but simplified a good bit):
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx='
    http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml'
    pageTitle="Resize Test"
    layout="absolute" autoLayout="false"
    addedToStage="event.currentTarget.stage.scaleMode =
    StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL"
    >
    <mx:Style>
    VBox {
    cornerRadius: 4;
    borderStyle: solid; border-color: #000000; borderSize: 1;
    horizontalAlign: center; verticalAlign: middle;
    dropShadowEnabled: true;
    </mx:Style>
    <mx:VBox width="500" height="375"
    backgroundColor="#808080"
    paddingTop="20" paddingBottom="20" paddingLeft="20"
    paddingRight="20">
    <mx:VBox width="100%" height="100%"
    backgroundColor="#808000">
    <mx:Label text="This is some text" fontSize="12"
    width="128" textAlign="center"/>
    <mx:Button label="Button"/>
    </mx:VBox>
    </mx:VBox>
    </mx:Application>

    Yeah, I was using "bitmap" to mean raster graphics, whether
    the actual source be jpg, png or what have you.

    Another reason I thought of why resizing does not result in
    rescaling by default:
    HTML and JSP applications don't rescale when you change the
    browser size. Just go to hotmail or msn and check. They reposition.
    Flex applications are intended to behave the same way but with RIA
    capabilities. That is probably the more likely explanation than
    bitmaps merely not scaling well. Anyway, this behaviour was a
    thought-out decision and I happen to agree with it. By the way,
    older Flash applications
    do rescale to fit the window by default.
    Exactly! That's the big problem, in my view, with the
    HTML/JPG based web, and is what a vector-based solution
    (discounting raster graphics) should solve.
    Firefox, and now IE7, have features to allow you to scale web
    pages to overcome, in a stop-gap way, this problem. IE even scales
    images and Flash apps, though some Flash suffers problems when
    scaled. Firefox does not (yet?) scale images or Flash along with
    the other content. Flash-based Elmo games at sesamestree.org, at
    640x480, look pretty stupid on my 42" 1920x1080 LCD (played by my
    3-year old, not me!), but at least I can now (try) to scale them up
    with IE7 for him.
    I do not believe this was a thought-out decision, it's just
    inertia from the bad old ways of doing things. There should be a
    working option to easily scale content to the browser window, and
    if Flex doesn't provide one, Microsoft certainly is going to (with
    WPF/E) as they have with WPF. I'm not a big MS fan, but I think
    they get the way things are going with the proliferation in the
    range of screen resolutions and sizes that web content is being
    displayed on.
    That said, I realize there is more to dealing with different
    screen sizes than just scaling - you may have to change the amount
    of content on the screen, dependent on what the subject is.

    with impunity, more power to you. Sounds great. I would love this.
    But it still doesn't address what should happen when the image goes
    beyond the original size. I know you're only using vector graphics
    so it's not an issue for you.
    Yep, raster graphics are troublesome. Worst case, a beautiful
    picture frame grows to surround the image as one zooms beyond its
    original size (insert smiley icon of choice here)

    if SWFLoader isn't working well, you could programatically do
    the same thing. Have a sub-contaier inside the application
    container which adjusts its scale accordingly to the size of the
    parent application container. I have done this myself with the
    Image class for zooming in and out from images (ironically 1000px+
    images which were displayed at much smaller sizes).
    <Application resize="adjustSize()"
    creationComplete="adjustSize()" paddingLeft="0" paddingRight="0"
    paddingTop="0" paddingBottom="0">
    <Script>
    private function adjustSize():void {
    var newScaleX = this.width/content.width
    var newScaleY = this.height/content.height

    content.scaleY = newScaleY;
    </Script>
    <Box id="content" borderStyle="none" width=400 height=300
    /> <!-- the width and height are arbitrary -->
    </Application>
    Something along the lines of the above should definitely
    work. I am just basing it off my own previous code. You may have to
    be careful of borders and padding if you decide to add them.
    Whether it works better than the other suggestions you'll have to
    decide.
    Thanks for the code, and I'll try it. I'm new to Flex, and so
    I'm still struggling with some things (such as when objects are
    available for manipulation).

  • No app store present on iPod Touch 4th gen and can't sync apps in iTunes, tried restoring/updating

    I've tried everything I know to fix this problem with no luck so far, I'm hoping someone can help. Note that iTunes has been updated to the latest version (and my friend's computer is running Windows 7, if that helps at all).
    My friend has an iPod Touch 4th generation. A while back he asked me to help him get apps onto the iPod, and I discovered that the App Store on the iPod itself was nowhere to be found, nor can he remember ever having one. In addition to this, he can't sync apps onto the iPod from within iTunes - the option to sync in the apps tab is greyed out. The music/movies/etc. sync just fine, however. At the time, his iPod had iOS 4.1.
    After checking for parental restrictions in his iTunes and the iPod, I found that his iPod has a restrictions password set, which he doesn't know. His parents have no memory of setting restrictions and don't know the password, either.
    I read online that the only way to remove the restrictions password is to restore the iPod, and since this seemed to be a good idea anyway due to the odd issue with iTunes refusing to sync apps, we restored the iPod and updated to iOS 5.1 today. Unfortunately, the App Store is still nowhere to be found, and we still can't sync apps in iTunes. The iPod still claims a restrictions password has been set as well.
    I have checked and double-checked that no restrictions are set in iTunes preferences. My friend created a new iTunes account, so that shouldn't be the problem. While we're hoping to get both iTunes sync and the iPod App Store app working properly, right now he just wants to be able to get apps onto his iPod.
    Does anyone have any ideas why his iPod didn't come with an App Store app, why it still doesn't have the Store after restoring, why iTunes won't sync apps, or why the restrictions password is still set after the restore? I've honestly run out of ideas as to how to fix this.
    Before I posted this, I did a little more looking online about the restrictions password, which is apparently restored along with a backup. Neither of us were present during the restore (we had to leave for a couple of hours after the restore had been started), so I'm only asking this because I don't have his iPod or computer with me at the moment to test it myself - is there a way to manually cancel restoring from a backup during the process? If so, I need to restore the iPod a second time.
    In the meantime, any ideas about my other three questions?
    Thanks in advance for the help.
    Edit: His iTunes account is authorized, by the way.

    What exactly happmens when you try? Error message?

  • IPhone 5 typing & opening apps by itself, "This accessory may not be supported"

    Not that long ago, I got a refurbed iPhone 5 from AT&T (around Thanksgiving). Soon after, I started having problems. My iPhone would type on its own and open up apps by itself. I would also get the, "This accessory is not supported," message while using the charger that came with the phone when I ordered it. I went to the Apple store near me and got a replacement. Now this phone is having the same issues. The guy at the Apple store told me that it was MY backup that was doing it... which I seriously doubt, considering all the people that are having the same issues as me on these forums. I just contacted AT&T and they told me to go back to the Apple store and get ANOTHER replacement... and that was after he told me that his previous customer had the same issues as I did, and he's had a lot of other customers that have had them as well.
    So, what do I do now? Has anyone found a fix for these problems? I was reading through the forums but almost every post is, "Having the same issues," with no way to fix them. I don't see how getting yet another replacement phone will fix the problem, since I've had 2 phones in a row that have done this. Is Apple still refusing to acknowledge that these are widespread issues? I NEVER had these problems with my iPhone 4, and now I'm wishing I had just gotten the Galaxy S4 instead... but since I used my upgrade on this POS, I can't even do that at this point.

    All what people?  Sorry, but if you're going to make such broad and inclusive statements, be prepared to back them up or get lots of snarky responses.

    Has the device been restored as new?

    Really?  There are virtually no such postings, considering the sheer number of iPhones, specially the iPhone 5 in the wild.

    Apple is not here, no one here speaks for Apple.

    Speaking for myself only, I have been perfectly happy with every model of iPhone I have had (3GS, 4, 4S, and 5).  Both the 4 and 5 were refurbs purchased from AT&T and they look like new.  I couldn't ask for anything better.. great value and a great device.

  • I have a problem with my keyboard in Flash App on Android.

    I have a problem with my Flash App on Android, this app requires installing Adobe Air on Android before running. The keyboard pushing issue has troubled me for a while however I can't find a solution.
    As you know, while triggering any text box, the keyboard, no matter built-in one or others will push the screen up to a few then you can see what you are typing. However, on my app, when I trigger the built-in keyboard, it covers the half screen meanwhile I can't see what I am typing.
    Could anyone can give a light so I can completely this problem for 2 years? Is this something I can do with action script or Flash?
    Thank you.

    If you have a suggestion or answer feel free to leave a message as I will continue to check back here. Thanks.

  • Can you add apps to iPad open in list

    Can you add apps to the open in list of an iPad

    As far as I know, you cannot add apps to the Open In list using any setting or built in feature in iOS. This is controlled by the iOS itself. IIRC, you can delete apps from the iPad that appear in the Open In list in order to make room for apps that you would like to appear in there, and if you continue to use the apps that you want to add to that list, eventually they will appear in the list. I believe that the more that you use one particular app, the more likely it will be for it to appear in the Open In list.
