Can a unsigned jar file access the tmpdir (java.io.tmpdir)?

Hello, according to the JNLP tutor, a signed jar file can access the local file system, but a unsigned one can not. My question is, can a unsigned jar file access the temp directory (the system property java.io.tmpdir)? I think the temp directory should be accessible even though it is part of the local file system.
Thanks,
LyLi

no - unsigned application has no read/write access to the temp dir, but you can use the jnlp api to read and write files with the users permssion.
see: http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/jre/api/javaws/jnlp/index.html for FileOpenService, FileSaveService, and ExtendedService.

  • How to access the database jar file using the derby 10.2.1.6 database ?

    Hi,
    How to access the database jar file using the derby 10.2.1.6 database ?
    I have used like below. And i am getting the following the error:
    "org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot load JDBC driver class 'org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver'
    at org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSource.createDataSource(BasicDataSource.java:1136)"
    My context.xml file looks like this:
    <Context crossContext="true">
    <Resource name="jdbc/derby" auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource" driverClassName="org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver"

  • When downloading is complete, I can not see, run, nor access the file; it only appears in the "Downloads" window (and not the specified folder) and the only options permitted are to delete it, or to go to the download web site; what's blocking it?

    My PC's OS is 'MS Windows Vista Home Premium'. As my initil question states: When downloading, after the download completes, I can not see, run, nor access the file in it's designated folder. The download only appears in the "Downloads" window and the only "Right Click" options permitted are to "Remove From List", "Select All", & "Copy Download Link" I also can not double click to run it. What's blocking it?
    I have a similar problem when accessing .zip files that are attachments to my emails. Here, however, I can place the file in a designated folder, however, the .zip file and it's compressed content files are file-typed as "FireFox Document" and I get permissions errors when running an unzip tool.
    Why are my download files being quarantined ??? Is there a security setting option I need to change???
    To get around this, I'm using IE to download and install these files, but switching back & forth between FireFox & IE is a real pain.

    It's your anti-virus not working correctly while scanning. You can turn off the option to scan in Firefox's '''about:config''' by filtering for '''browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone''' and double-clicking that line to change the value to '''false'''

    JSP is used for server validation.
    So you need a an application server (like Tomcat or Jboss) to execute your jsp files.
    you can create the .war file of your simple jsp application and put it in the server.
    then you will have to access your page using a web browser.
    the URL will be
    http://<ComputerName or IP Address>:<PortNumber>/<WarFileName>/<MainJspPage>
    (eg: http://100.100.100.252:8080/SimpleApplication/mainPage.jsp)

  • How do I add my own JAR file to the classpath?

    When I put a JAR file containing several compiled Java classes in the '/opt/SUNWips/lib' directory they are not found while compiling a JSP-Provider. When I extract them from the JAR it is not a problem (I think because the '/opt/SUNWips/lib' directory is already in the classpath).
    Where can I add my JAR to the classpath?

    I have been successfully editing the jvm12.conf file to add jars. This is
    the web server config file in
    /opt/netscape/server4/http-your.server.com/config directory. Add to the
    jvm.classpath line with all the other jars. Yes, lib is in the path, but
    Java doesn't see inside the jars unless they are explicitly in the path.

  • Can't find jar file

    I am attempting to implement an applet in a pl/sql package. Basically I have copied the format for an implementation in another pl/sql package successfully running on the same server.
    The other package successfully shows the required applet.
    I am using IE 5.5 with the java 1.4.0 plugin
    The code used for the applet
    <APPLET NAME="me" code="ptolemy.plot.plotml.PlotMLApplet" WIDTH="700" HEIGHT="500"
    CODEBASE="/ptolemy/"
    ARCHIVE="plot/plotmlapplet.jar"
    </APPLET>
    Where ptolemy.plot is the directory the jar file is in and
    ptolemy.plot.plotml is the package for the PlotMLApplet.class
    I popped this code in my application after and it worked OK although I am not sure why the jar file needed to be in that directory but that is the ONLY way it will run.
    However when I put this code in instead
    <APPLET NAME="me" code="detail.plan.MyPlan" WIDTH="700" HEIGHT="500" ;
    CODEBASE="/detail/"
    ARCHIVE="plan/plotmlapplet.jar"
    </APPLET>
    where the package is detail.plan and the jar file is in detail/plan it doesn't work.
    This is the error in the java console
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://(The server IP address and port is in here) /ability/elmostart.jar

    Sorry for the turgid detail.
    I'm not sure if the jar file is the problem or the class files. There are only two class files and I compiled thwem in jdk1.3.1
    I am sure that the jar file was ftp'd correctly as i retrieved it and checked the magic numbers of the classes inside.
    trying to do this with just the class files doesn't work either.
    Any help much appreciated. This is turning into a real hair puller of a problem.

All searches made per this error message on the Internet have failed to yield any results that would afford me a solution to my problem. Any assistance that you can afford to me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much! Eric.

  • Deploying external jar files to the server

    Hi,
    How can I deploy the external jar files belonging to a simple webdynpro project(no DC) so that it is also available durng the runtime.
    I have no direct access to the WAS server and I am looking for means to deploy directly from NWDS.
    Regards,
    Meesum

    hi meesum,
    There is no direct things to do that. All u need to do is keep the jar files into the lib folder of webdynpro project and also add it from the build-path/classpath by right clicking the project.
    1. Go to navigation perspective
    2. get into the project\lib folder of the your project. copy the jar files into it
    4. right click on the project
    5. click on properties
    6. click on java build path
    7. go to libraries tab
    8. click on Add Jars button
    9. select the jar in you r project
    10. click ok
    11. recompile
    12. deploy
    Hope you got what you want...
    Thanks & Regards,

  • How can i put Jar Files in Java Runtime.?

    HI,
    how can i put jar files in JRE so that they are accessible every where.? is there some way.?
    Regards,
    AA

    Closest you could get to this I think is to explode all your jars into the same parent directory. Then if you put that directory on the classpath, you should be able to access all classes in all jar files

  • Can't open .jar file, nothing happens when I click, MAC OS 10.6.8

    Hello,
    I can't open .jar file, nothing happens when I click on the .jar file.
    I have MAC OS 10.6.8
    The thing it, I have desktop application that I'm building on Netbeans and when I compile and deploy it... it runs from Netbeans folder where I have all the files but copying the .jar on the desktop. It says "The Java JAR file "blablabla.jar" could not be launched check the Console for possible error messages"
    Any idea or solution will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Charles

    These are Java files.  http://www.java.com/en/ is where you can get the latest Java for your operating system. If your Java files need an older version of Java, there are instructions on the web to downgrade Mac Java, but it is difficult, and poses security issues.

  • How do I add a jar file into the build path of the compiler?

    Hey,
    I'm trying to import a jar file into the build path of the compilation process, but it does not find the packages or the classes that are in it.
    I think I don't add it right...
              ArrayList<String> options=new ArrayList<String>();
              options.add("-d");
              options.add(targetDirectory);
              options.add("-classpath");
              for(String str:includeDirectory)
                   options.add(str);
              if (!compiler.getTask(writer, fileManager, diagnostics, options, classes, compilationUnits).call());
                    ....and I've tried this way:
         public void setTargetDirectory(String targetDirectory) {
              this.targetDirectory = "-d " + targetDirectory;
         private void compile(Iterable<? extends JavaFileObject> compilationUnits) throws Exception {
              ArrayList<String> options = new ArrayList<String>();
              options.add(targetDirectory);
              String classPath="-cp ";// tried this also with "-classpath"
              for (String str : includeDirectory)
                   classPath+=str+":";
              options.add(classPath);
         if (!compiler.getTask(writer, fileManager, diagnostics, options, classes, compilationUnits).call())
              // throw new Exception("Compilation Error");
         }Thanks in advance,
    Adam.

    Thank you for your reply,
    Q: Are there .class files in that directory in that jar file? (the compiler doesn't ( can't )) look for directories, it can just look for specific files , and scan to get a list of all files matching certain criteria. So if there are no class files, it will say the package doesn't exist, even if there is a directory, possibly containing other files.yes there are class files in the jar, the tree structure:
    j2MeDataChunkGenerator_Plugin\(lots of class files)
    META-INF\manifest.mf
    and thats it.
    , your code will only work on windows because other platforms use a different path separator. You should use java.io.File.pathSeparator not explicit ';" when building your classpath. (this is unrelated to your problem, but you should correct it)will do, thanks.
    Q: Is that error in your post formatted by your own diagnostics? (we could possibly help you better if we didn't have to guess!!)I would not post my own error code, this text is generated by the compiler diagnostic.
    {code}
         System.err.println(" Error details: " + diagnostic.getMessage(null));
    {code}
    Q: Is line 3 of ImageCroper_Editor.java (sic) an import statement? (we could possibly help you better if we didn't have to guess!!)it is an import error... didn't the error message stated that it is an import problem? wired, I'm sure before it did. anyway it is an import error.
    Also you don't show us what the variable includeDirectory is in terms of type, and contents, that might be helpful. (we could possibly help you better if we didn't have to guess!!)It has only one String object: "D:\%Important Documents\WorkSpaces\PacMan\ApplicationManager\Plug-in\Data Chunk Designer.jar"
    the last file on the classpath list.
    Q: Have you proven this? that i did post, in this long line of text.
    Q: Is the compiler finding other classes (in other packages) in that same jar file?No. all the class files are in the jar, they all have entries that start with "j2MeDataChunkGenerator_Plugin\*.class", and since I get 47 errors I guess it does not load any other class.
    thank you for you comments, the problem with having these errors, is that I can't even get a piece of information where this error is coming from, only that it is an import loading error package not found, what does that mean? that the jar was not loaded in compilation(no error about this), that the jar is corrupted(no error about this), that the path is incorrect(it is correct I made sure), that there is no such package in the jar(There is), that the compiler does not load the package(does it even do that?), really I can't even guess why this happens, I've been at this on and of all day today, really annoying.
    Thanks,
    Adam.

  • What is directory where I can put in jar file without specify classpath ?

    hi,
    Is there any directory in weblogic similar to the directory of WEB-INF/lib/ where I can throw a jar file in without specify classpath explicitly.
    The reason I'm looking for such directory is :
    -- I do not want to specify classpath explicitly
    -- I'd like it outside of an application so that it stay even if the application redeployed.
    Thanks

    Hi Aacc,
    The domain library directory that you are looking for is usually $DOMAIN_DIR/lib, for example "C:\Oracle\WLS_Middleware10.3.4\user_projects\domains\test_domain_1\lib" (Windows) or "/u01/weblogic/domains/my_domain/lib" (Linux/Unix).
    The jars located in this directory will be picked up and added dynamically to the end of the server classpath at server startup. The jars will be ordered lexically in the classpath. The domain library directory is one mechanism that can be used for adding application libraries to the server classpath.
    You can override the $DOMAIN_DIR/lib directory using the -Dweblogic.ext.dirs system property during startup. This property specifies a list of directories to pick up jars from and dynamically append to the end of the server classpath using java.io.File.pathSeparator as the delimiter between path entries.
