Can a URL being loaded have a variable in its address?

Question

in plain english, i'd like to do the following:
xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest("http://www.mysite.com/whatever/whatever/(thirdSegment)"));
where (thirdSegment) is the third segment of whatever URL the current swf file is on. I aready define segment 3 at:
var location:String = ExternalInterface.call('window.location.href.toString');
var locationArray:Array = location.split('/');
var thirdSegment:String = locationArray[3];
any ideas?

incase anyone ever needs this, I figured it out.
I simply define variables
var actualURL = "mysite.com"
var urlSegment = (actualURL)+ (thirdSegment)
so when I load the xml, I do the following:
xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest(urlSegment));
