Can an InDesign swf document automatically resize?

Hello,
Using InDesign CS4, I've created an interactive document and exported into a swf format.
The document size is 1024 x 768 px, but will not resize without cropping parts of the document. This means that the majority of users won't be able to use the document unless they have the same desktop size or larger than 1024 x 768.
I've tried changing the export options in InDesign to get the document to resize, and I've also tried exporting and changing settings in Flash which works but removes all of the interactivity.
From what I've read I don't think it is possible to do this from the Adobe suite.
Does anyone know if there any way this document can be displayed in a browser and automatically resize according to the users desktop resolution? This could be either via some functionality I haven't tried within the Adobe software or by using some software or code to imbed with the document on the webpage.
I can upload the document if needed.
Thanks for your help.

You can set the embedded swf to scale with the browser window (not fullscreen mode) via the HTML holder generated by ID. Set width and height to "100%" and scale to "showall"
Keep in mind that the browser window could be any size, so text might be be illegible in a small browser window or awkwardly oversized in a large window.

  • How can I get Illustrator to automatically resize the font to a designated page width?

I want to be able to type lines of text and have Illustrator automatically change the font size so that it fits that width of the page exactly, even if on one line there are 8 words and on another line there are 2 words - I want the big and small letters effect. • How can I have Fire Fox automatically resize photos in e-mail

I send an e-mail with photo attachments and it says file too big. I don't want to go to my paint program with every photo I e-mail and resize it manually. I want Fire Fox to do it automatically. I have found on Explorer how to set this up on preferences, but not on Fire Fox. Any help would be appreciated. DB

That would be a feature of your email program, not firefox. However, there might be an addon that does that. Look here: [http://example.com https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/]

  • PSE how to have photo automatically resize the a 12 X 12 background document

I was told that when you drag a photo onto a 12x12 document it will automatically resize to the 12 x 12. When I do it in PSE the photo is small...and asking me to transform it. Is this different within these two programs or is there a work around in PSE. I had a friend try it in her photoshop program and the image wasn't distorted at all...Didn't appear huge, like if I transform it.

Both are set at 300....it's a very small picture... 4x3 my online friend uses CS5 and said it automatically changed it to the 12x12 blank document when she dragged it on...I did that but it gets very large and blurry...I studied about smart objects and used place to open photo and then tried to resize it....she clipped a mask watercolor underneath to give it emphasis... she then tilted the whole picture.she's out of town for the moment...I was trying to figure out what she did...for the life of me I can't get mine to resize to the 12 x 12....it expands larger than hers when I try.

When an image is added to a document, the incoming image is scaled to the resolution of the target document.  Make sure the resolution is the same for both, or simply use the Move tool on the pasted image to resize it to suit.  The incoming photo is never resized automatically to the target document's dimension. I second LibreOffice as it's the most recent fork, however NeoOffice and OpenOffice will also work.
Just say No money to Redmond!
Also the old Ready Set Go! will be having a Lion version out soon.
It's a low cost page layout program (like Indesign but without the high price) and can make booklets etc better, import the excel grpahics from LibreOffice.

Yesterday this was automatically installed.  Today I can't access a document in Pages.  A prompt says I need a Pages update.  But the next screen tests for updates and informs me everything is up to date.  What's up?

It's highly unlikely that the Pages update problem has anything to do with the ARD client update, since the client is not involved in any way with Software Update. I'd suggest asking for assistance with the update problem in the forum appropriate for your version of Mac OS X.

Yes I am using InDesign 8.0.1 does that mean I'm patched to it?
I got a new MacBook Pro and migrated the InDesign files from my old computer to my new one.  Would the migration change file or folder names?  I was able to package files on my old computer but I was using CS5.5.

  • How can I set the minimum size the location bar should automatically resize to

I have moved all of my navigation buttons, location bar and tabs to be in line. This has been done to maximise the available space on screen.
This works perfectly with two or three tabs open, but once more tabs are opened the location bar automatically shrinks to allow for more tabs and becomes unusable. I want to set the minimum size the location bar should shrink to but I do not know how to do this.

  • Can't use effects in InDesign in document with 3+ pages. Why??

Any time I try to increase the number of pages included in an InDesign file to 3+, none of the effects work. I've tried creating the effects (i.e. transparency) on an object in a 1-page document (which works fine) and then copying that object over to the 3+ page document. As soon as I do, the effects disappear.
Is this normal? Is there a limit to the number of pages to that you can have in a document if you want to include effects?

To answer Peter Spier's question, I don't believe I have any non-adobe plugins. I didn't add any myself, that I'm aware of.
Willi Adelberger, to answer your questions,
The imaging trouble seems to occur when I import images via File>Place. When that wasn't working, I tried opening the image up in Illustrator, and then copying it directly into InDesign, which worked better. I'm assuming this has something to do with raster pixels vs vector paths?
I believe I'm talking about raster pixels. When I increase the scale of the image in InDesign, I believe it's messing with the raster pixels, causing a loss of clarity. This might be due to an error on my part-how do you increase the scale of an image in InDesign using vector paths vs raster pixels?
And yes, the effects disappear on both objects in InDesign and both imported and copied images
Update on the effects: When I printed the document, the images showed up on the printed copy, even though they weren't reflected in the doc on my computer.
Further Update: Some time later, the effects showed up in the program. At the moment, the effects are still visible in the InDesign program, regardless of the page count, so it seems that the issue has resolved itself.  I have no idea why they suddenly started showing up.

  • How to have automatic resizing of container when JInternalFrame resizes?

Is there a good way for the automatic resizing of its container when a JInternalFrame is resized?
The intent is to have the JTree below, automatically resize. for example,
if you type newlines into the JTextArea contained in JInternalFrames.
(Tried adding the JInternalFrames to a JDesktopPane, but it did not display them. I wonder if it is inefficient to have a JDesktopPane for each tree node).
Is there any way to know if a JInternalFrame is resizing? Perhaps then one can reload the tree as:
    treeModel.reload()thanks,
    Anil

I think this does what you want; it's basically the same technique as we used before.
It also suffers from an interesting bug: if I type in the text area inside the internal frame, the editor resizes nicely
with the node below it staying visible; if I type in the text area next to the panel, the editor will resize over the node
below it. I didn't dig into it further to see the cause.

  • How to edit linked text in an Indesign long document without it effecting the whole document

I want to work out how to edit text in indesign without the rest scrolling
I have a large 200 page book.  The text was supplied in Word and I have placed the whole document automatically and now I am going through each page doing my magic with pics, stylesheets etc.
When the client comes back with edits, I am concerned that deleted or adding in text will scroll the text to the next chapter, etc etc.  This will be a nightmare.  Not sure how to unlink say 5 pages or so that are in each chapter so I can edit easily without the whole document being effected.
Apologies I am probably not explaining myself all that well.

    john the link is broken
I can see there are scripts but I don't want each page separate rather each chapter (each chapter can go for 2 or 7 pages)
I am only 35 pages or so into the book and if I have to I can re place the text with some work, ie start again with the text pages.
seems sily though that I cannot split the threaded stories a few pages at a time.
    The link is now fixed.
You can split the threaded story into separate stories anywhere in the thread. At the chapter breaks seems logical. There are many users who'll assert all sorts of right/wrong at you when it comes to threading text. For my purposes, I set up long documents much the way you propose; threading articles, stories, or chapters discreetly; rarely would I ever thread an entire long document as one. It's a preference, not a rule. Each way has benefits and pitfalls.

  • Can I save a documents size and position?

I want Indesign to remember the last view of the document, so when I open the file again I don't have to adjust the zoom and find the last place I was working in the document.  Is this an option??  I thought CS5 did this for me but maybe I am mistaken.  Now in CS6, Indesign is zooming in and is positioned half of the document everytime I reopen the file.  Thanks for the help.

and it just keeps resizing the window to full screen even after I adjust it to fit within the toolbar space
Perhaps you are not using the snapping feature of docked tool panels. Try docking your toolbar in the Landing Zone on the left and try docking all your panels in the Landing Zone on the right edge of the screen. Try docking the document window under the Control Panel at the top. Doing these things should automatically resize the document window to dwell within the edges of the left sides's tool box, the right side's panel dock, and the top edge should self-adjust, too, because it is snapped in.
Easier than that, try resetting the workspace to advanced. This should dock the document into the available space without it going behind the toolbox and panels.
Another simple thing to click on is at the top center: Arrange Documents button > Consolidate All.
Any of these things should cure the problem of having the document window run behind the toolbox and panels. Rather, it should shoulder up next to them, and self-adjust. You should never have to adjust it manually to fit within the toolbar space.

  • Hi, i have a doubt, i want my pdf files to be sync with the cloud but im afraid they wont open when not connected to the internet so my question basiclly is¿ can i store the documents on my device sd and edit them and when i get a internet connection they

Hi, i have a doubt, can i have my pdf files on my sd, edit them while in class with no internet connection and when back online they will sync, all i want is to able to open my files without wifi and edit them but when back online sync their changes so i can see them in other device

You can cache the cloud documents that you most often read by opening them once when the network is available. Edits made to these documents would be automatically synced back to the cloud if the network is available. If for any reason the network is not available, these would be synced the next time network becomes available.

  • How can I change a document from booklet to single pages

How can I change a document from booklet to single pages?

    Very cumbersome.
    How many pages?
    Make a copy first.
In Acrobat use the Crop tool to crop half the width. (Pages > Crop Pages.)
For 11x17 to 8.5 x11  crop all even pages 8.5 left, all odd pages 8.5 right.
    Do you have InDesign?
Create a new document correct to finished page size.
(Use Import Multi Page script to) Place all pages offset by the proper page amount.
    Export new pdf.

  • CS5 InDesign cannot open files in the InDesign CS5 document format

I'll be working in InDesign CS5 with no problems then at some point I'll double click on an InDesign file and a window comes up and says - InDesign cannot open files in the InDesign CS5 document format. Sometimes when this happens I have to completely reboot my whole system before I can get InDesign to function correctly. Is this a flaw with CS5? Did not happen with previous versions. It doesn't always happen but I can't figure out what causes it. Would appreciate anyones help. I'm getting to really HATE InDesign!!

I have not uninstalled and reinstalled, but I did just switch over to another workstation using Time Machine. The previous system was Leopard. This one is running Snow Leopard.
I'm not sure how to parse this. When you say "switch over to another workstaiton using Time Machine" do you mean, "started using another machine that happens to be using Time Machine for backups and is also running 10.6 instead of 10.5"?
Or do you mean, "Used the Time Machine program to upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6?" If you mean the second one, well, I can't say I am surprised that things are messed up. And that would make your problem rather different than the other posters, which is good reason for you to have started your own thread (and thus your own solution)....
I'm a little bit leary of getting in and changing things in Terminal, without understanding what I am changing. Plus this is a workstation at work, so if I screw something up, that is not a good things, and I don't have time to spend a day fixing things back up again, with the way our workload is.
Well, you can find a lot of marginal documentation about lsregister and Launch Services, but I wonder whether your understood the ramifications of messing with Time Machine (or maybe I have misinterpretted you!). I'd be surprised if you found another way to fix this, other than uninstall/reinstall.
    Good luck.
