Can an Opportunity create a Sales Quote as a followup document ?

instead of the Quote Inquiry ?  This is using PI OnPrem talking to ECC.
My customer is not interested in the Quote Inquiry from the Opportunity.
Rather, they would like to create the Sales Quote as the follow-up document directly.  I wonder if it's a simple document-type setup in C4C or PI mapping.
If possible, what are the high level steps to doing that ?

The quote ID is sent back via an output control type- this is described in the integration configuration guide:
Once the quote/order are created the message type COD_OPPT_CONF is called.   In the integration guide – I think section 4.13 – we describe a requirement routine that must be created so that we know when to trigger the IDOC. 
And yes to the other question.  You'll need a workflow developer if you want to adjust the workflow.

Prerequisites
To carry out the steps below an appropriate developer key and object key is required.
Procedure
1. In transaction VOFM, choose Requirements   Output Control.
2. At the bottom of the displayed table, enter an unused number greater than 600. Assign the
application V1 to this newly created line.
3. Mark the newly created line and choose Source text (F5).
4. Within the ABAP editor for kobed_xxx (where xxx is the number you typed in step 2), insert
the following code:
FORM kobed_xxx.
* We only trigger the confirmation back to 'Cloud for Customer'
* if the document is complete and if an opportunity document is
* referenced.
IF komkbv1-uvall EQ 'C' AND
cl_cod_oppt_confirmation=>is_relevant( komkbv1 ) = abap_true.
sy-subrc = 0.
ELSE.
sy-subrc = 4.
ENDIF.
ENDFORM.
5. Save and activate the coding.

    I have created the Sales Quote tutorial steps and deployed the process. The Enter Quote Details user task is in the "SalesRep" role and I have assigned a user from WebLogic user store to "SalesRep" role in the BPM Organization artifact.
    In order to kick off the process, I logged-in to BPM workspace with the user I have assigned as "SalesRep" role but don't find the Sales Quote application under the "Applications" tab.
    I am using 11g PS4(11.1.1.5) and didn't seed the demo users, instead just created the user using WLS console.
    Any thoughts why the user is unable to see the application in BPM Workspace?

    Check two things:
    1. Login to Workspace as weblogic and click the Administration link at the top to verify the role is actually set to a user (just to double check this).
    2. Login to EM, click the SalesQuote composite, scroll down and click the EnterQuote human task component, and click the Administration tab.
    This shows you if there is a task form URI associated with this human task. If not, the initiate link won't show up in the Applications menu in Workspace.
    If not, you can either deploy again from JDeveloper, making sure you have selected the task forms in the deploy wizard and making sure the deployment is successful in the Deployments log window.

    On creating the sales quote in C4C, request can be triggered to ERP system for Sales Order Request.
    Once Sales Order gets created in the ERP system, 'Sales Order Request' and 'Sales Order' documents can be captured in C4C.

    Is their a way to prevent an Item from being placed on a Sales order when there are no Items in Stock? When a Item shows up on the PICK Ticket with a quantity OH of "0" It should not be on the Sales Order or the Pick Ticket.

    If you go to administration - system initialistaion - document settings
    on general tab check the Block Negative Inventory and choose block release.
    the system can allow you create the sales order but it will not allow you release the stock.

    We are using SAP CRM 2007.
    I believe in CRM we can create one sales order from multiple quotes. We have a requirement where we need to create one Third party sales order from multiple Quotations.
    I have Item cat for Quotations and Sales Document maintained correctly.
    I also have copy control where ZQUO and ZSAL are maintained correctly. Where I have maintained settings for copying Transactions as well as Item Category.
    But when I go to CRMD_ORDER and retrieve quotes and try to do a follow on doc for sales doc , only the first Quote gets added into follow on document.
    Can someone tell me if I am missing any config?

    In your contract for line item 1 you have entered qty 100
    You careated sales order with 70 quantity, and now you want to creat another sales order for 30
    For this first you need to check what is your item category in contract (VA42)
    Goto VOV7
    SPRO - IMG  - Sales and distribution - Sales - Sales document item - Define item categories - Go to change mode
    Make the completion rule = B Item is completed after full quantity has been referenced

    for example if you are using account group 0001, when you create a customer it has the ability of picking up a SH, BP and PY along with SP. this is the underlying config at account group. Now for SP 100 the ship party can 100 or 200 ... or you can modify at the order level. Its not necessary that 200 has been identified at the customer master creation level itself. But partner function SH shoudl be availble in the account group with which the customer is created.

    Not possible to create sales order with reference to PO.
    but if to capture cost, you can consider adding cost to customer's invoice.
    e.g.
    SO -> PO -Inb/IR -> GR -> OB -> Inv(Add here)
    to add in that invoice, its either manual or through automatic condition.

    Either via sdh0 you can set the field as non-editable or in configuration, if you set the field for BP as not modifiable in Partner Determination for Sales Order Header, then users wont be able to change the partner function in sale order.

    Create Variant to simplify VA01 data entry

    SAP menu path: (not in role ZSBM)
    SAP Fast Path
    At the Command Line, enter: /nVA01
    2. Create Sales Order: initial screen
    Order Type: (Use default = "ZPS" for Project Order)
    Organizational data: (Use defaults)
    Sales organization ("1000" for Sponsored Billing)
    Distribution channel ("10" for MIT Distribution Channel)
    Division ("10" for MIT Division)

    The Create Project: Overview screen displays, as shown below.

    Under Maintain Variants, type name for Variant, for example "my_settings" (leaving Use as standard setting checked); click on Create; then click on Save button to close dialogue box.
    From now on, the WBS element column displays next to Material column when you run VA01.

    In Inventory Super User: On-hand, Availability: Reservations, look for the reservation you have previously created. Then, go to Tools Menu and select Transfer Demand. In the form opened, define Sales Order as Demand Type, and then inform the sales order and sales order line. Then, press the button transfer.
