Can anyone help me download missing plug-in?

I want to play a video clip in my Safari browser, and I get the following message:
Safari cannot find the internet plug-in
The page “Menus, Recipes, Videos, Tips: Football party Foods: Parties: Party Ideas: Food Network” has content of MIME type
“application/x-mplayer2.” Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed.
Can someone tell me where and how to get and install a plug-in for this, please?

Locating the required plug-ins can be as easy as going to a website that a page directs you too (Flash usually does that), or having to do a Google search to find out what "application/x-mplayer2" is when it's at home, for example, and then finding out where to get Windows Media Player, which shouldn't be too difficult, but it varies.
There's no one method for installing plug-ins. Some plug-ins get downloaded to your download folder and present you with an installer that does all the work (SVG, Flash, Pangea VR); some plunk a folder on your desktop with instructions to drag the plug-in into Library/Internet Plug-Ins (Cortona, PDF Browser); some come inside applications and get installed indirectly (RealPlayer is an application that installs its plug-ins the first time it's run); some, get installed as part of a much larger and complex installation (Java, QuickTime). There's probably more, and I've forgotten what Windows Media Player and Flip4Mac did. I did check on DjVu: once it's downloaded and appears on your desktop in usable form, you see an installer package that's double-clicked to install DjVu, as well as a Read Me that contains some important installation notes, and should be read before you start installing.
