Can ASP with ODBC be used with Portal??
I have seen many clients develop active server pages using Frontpage or Dreamweaver hitting Oracle through ODBC (also JDBC). I know you can apply FP and Dream Weaver extensions to Apache. Can this be used with Portal to prevent re-coding existing applications or to stay with their present development plans?
Yes, you can expose any existing application environment through the portal. The fastest way to do it is to use the URL Services in the PDK to include application functionality as portlets by specifying the url. There are some restrictions with this approach. See the PDK for details. You can also code new portlets in Java that take advantage of the "External Applications Provider" capability to connect your portlets to an existing application in a single sign on way. Again, the PDK is the best source of information on this.

i am working in a web project with ASP connecting to Oacle 9i installed on windows 2000, Pentium 4 processor on an NTFS partition.
After installing oracle 9i, to create a new user, i was unable to logon to oracle as SYSDBA using username: system , password: manager
having an error massage stating "ORA-01031:insufficient privileges"
i was only able to connect as Normal
although i set full control NTFS permissions to the whole partition.
after creating the new user (from system, manager as normal) and giving the new user ROLES as (DBA, Connect, Resource)
i tried to connect to oracle using ASP with ADO but the
connection failed although i tried using Visual basic and ODBC and it worked
so the problem now is that i can't connect to oracle in ASP
can anyone help me?I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding exactly what you're saying here, so I apologize if I misunderstand...
Are you trying to use ASP to connect to the database with the SYSDBA privilege, or are you trying to use ASP to connect to the database with a normal user? I believe you are trying to do the latter, that it is working in VB, but not in ASP. Are you getting an error when you connect via an ASP page? What error are you getting?
Frequently, the problem is that the IIS user(s) don't have read/execute access to the %ORACLE_HOME% directory and subdirectories. I am not sure if you're indicating that you granted yourself full access or the IIS user full access to the partition.

Working with documents via BEx Analyzer not using the portal
Hello,
i read that we are able to create (work) with documents (comments) via
BEx Analyzer. When i want to add a comment how it is described in the
help we get connected to the portal. We dont want to use the portal for
that. Therefore we searched a way to skip the portal. We read that in
BW Versions before 7.0 the portal was not connected but since 7.0 we
have the portal connectivity, but it should also possible to not use
the portal and to access directly the BI Server. I searched for the
Customizing to do so but i could not find it where to switch to the old
logic.
And another question is when we use the Portal with the knowledge base . The documents are stored in the document framework (SKWF). Is it the same as the Datawarehousing Workbench --> documents. This storage we want to use.
Can anyone give me a hint?

We are also facing the same issue of when trying to create/access the documents from BEx analyzer it is connecting portal , we need to bypass portal and directly access the document browser in BW server.
In your thread you mentioned it is done. So can you please let me know how did you enable the old configuration?. It will be very much helpful to us.

We would like to use some third party Rich Text editor with portal as the Oracle Rich Text editor is fairly basic and it does not fulfill our business requirements.
Some of the things we are hoping to accomplish by through this text editor (after customizing) are:
Ability to select any page within the portal to add as link in the Text Editor.
Ability to select images from the portal repository.
Create HTML Tables.
Support of copy/paste from Microsoft Word.
I am looking for any suggestions or experiences on how this can be done.

Barring other issues you may have with (a) the OSS message that explains how to create the crawler indexes for catalog items and (b) the ability to display catalog in Portal, a solution is theoretically possible.

*Gotchas to watch out for*:
<li>Proxy, reverse proxy, firewall etc that may be used in the portal / non-portal scenario for external users. I can't give the details of how to solve such issues, but that would require a good consultant. So, plan to consider these in your project plan.
My advise: first check this in non-portal environment to eliminate any issues around the crawler program itself.

We’re seeing the following issue: sql - Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? - Stack Overflow (posted by a colleague of mine) and are curious to know if this behaviour is due to a difference between standard and enterprise, or could we doing something else wrong in our DB config.?
We have also reproduced the issue on the following stacks:
Oracle SE One 11.2.0.3 (with Spatial enabled)
Redhat Linux 2.6.32-358.6.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 16 20:59:36 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
11.2.0.3.0 Standard Edition and 11.2.0.4.0 Standard Edition (both with Spatial enabled)
Microsoft Windows Server 2003R2 Standard x64 Edition
However, the SQL works fine if we try it on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 *Enterprise* Edition.

KevinIn my experience sdo_filter ALWAYS uses the spatial index, so that's not the problem. Since you did not provide the explain plans, we can't say for sure but I think yhu is right: Standard Edition can't use the bitmap operations, and thus it'll take longer to combine the results of the two queries (because the optimizer will surely split this OR up in two parts, then combine them).
BTW: when asking questions about queries here, it would be nice if you posted the queries here as well, so that we do not have to check another website in order to see what you are doing. Plus it will probably get you more answers, because not everyone can be bothered to click on that link. It would also have been nice if you had posted your own answer on the other post here as well, because my recommendation would have been to use union all - but since you already found that out for yourself my recommendation would have been a little late. -
I can record voice memos fine using the built-in iPhone 4 mic. And my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone Era) works fine when I leave messages on voice mail systems etc. when calling on the iPhone 4, so it appears my headset mic is fine. I can also use voice activated dialing, although it fails miserably interpreting numbers. However, I cannot record voice memos with my Bluetooth mic. I just get barely audible static. Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.

I have a iphone 5 and I can login with my apple id to purchase music. However, when I try to login into icloud using the very same username and password that I use in the apple store it does not work to enter icloud, so what what gives???
I could do that, however when I select the icloud button (or whatever the heck it is) I am asked to enter the apple id and password. So if you are suppose to create another one for icloud you'd think it would give you the option at this point which would be logical.

They can, but not at the same time.
If one user left iTunes running, and another user tries to use iTunes from a different Windows user ID, that second user will get an error message. If they really want to use iTunes, they either have to beg the first user to log in and close iTunes, or else they have to restart the computer.
If you are asking the technical reason why, it is something about context switching. -

Hi I was just wanting to know if anyone can help with a problem I am having with an iPad 2. Some apps were purchased with one apple id and when I try to update the apps signed in with my id it asks for the password to the other id but also on an iPod touch apps were purched with first id and when someone else tries to download more apps it aske for the first persons apple id so is there any way than I can override these problems easily or be able to delet that persons id permanently so as we can download and update without it asking for a password that nobody knows or has access to please.

Unfortunately the apps bought by one ID need these ID for update the app. If you want to use it with your ID you must delete and buy the app (or download it if its free) again. -
I have a company Ipad that belonged to a deceased employee. no access to his icloud or appleID. how can I restore it for use with a new apple ID?

actually, unless you take an extra step, the first opened swf will close. if you want the 2nd to close, the initial receiving lc will send a message to sender that causes the sender to close.
