Can BIOS update "lose" RAID Drive?

If I flash my BIOS am I going to lose my raid drive/e.g. build it again and install windows?
Any help appreciated.
I currently have 1.1 BIOS and my CPU Voltage is unstable - CPU VID=1.37+3,3% V, but it runs between 1.34 and 1.42

You will lose the configurations in BIOS but not the RAID.
The RAID will stay the same you will not lose any data. You just have to configure the BIOS (not the RAID one) to recognize the discs as RAID, as you configured them the first time.
Hope that is clear...
Be well....
Thanks for the reply. Do you think it will solve the above described unstable voltage for the CPU. I currently use 1.10 BIOS

  • DV5000 bios update without C drive

This is a long and arduous story. In summary... Laptop (model DV5218NR - prod# - EZ416UA#ABA) was working fine (running XPHome which came installed from HP). Decided to try Win7 (pre-release) which installed and ran fine for 5 months. When the pre-release 'expired' wanted to install retail version of Win7. Installation failed with "Windows could not find a partiton to install on." Decided to go back to WinXP Home. The recovery partition had been overwritten by Win7 so I obtained a copy of HP recovery CD. Recovery CD cannot find a HDD! BIOS recognizes the HDD and it passed the tests available in BIOS (HP version F15-6/13/06). Research revealed that the BIOS may be 'locked' which is preventing the OS from seeing the HDD. Decided to flash the BIOS to ver F24 and had to build a custom boot ISO (using BartPE) with the flash program in it. Booted PC from BartPE CD and ran the flash program. The problem is that the flash update program wants to write something on the C drive which is not available. Is there a way to flash the BIOS without a C drive? Suppose there's a way to modify the EXE so that it looks for another drive letter (seems there used to be an old DOS command - substitute??) ? Is there any way to 'map' a C drive to a virtual/RAM drive?
I also read that I may be able to F6 the Win install to load 3rd party drivers but cannot find any reference on that either.

    Ok
I guess that's the reason for the problems. It is not so easy to know anyway because there are several ways to upgrade the BIOS on some of the models.
The method you are using apply only to Toshiba BIOS and when there is a diskette available with the extracted BIOS package on.
In this case we're using a bootable CD so that won't work here.
Instead, start the machine with the power button, and when you see the Toshiba-logo, press F12.
That will bring you to the BOOT Device selection menue. It consists of a small icon-menue below the TOSHIBA-logo.
The internal HDD is highlighted and you can move the marker by pressing the arrow keys.
Move the marker to the icon that looks like a CD.
    Press ENTER.
Now it will boot from the CD and hopefully update the BIOS.

  • Protege P4000 - BIOS update without floppy drive

    Hi,
I have a Protege P4000 which, I beleive, was orignally purchased without a floppy drive. Now that I'm upgrading the OS to Win XP I need to install more memory, and as many other forum members point out this won't work without a BIOS update.
However the BIOS update available from the website is for the Tranditional install only, and requires a Floppy drive (which I don't have). Is it possible to get a version that runs under Windows, or find another way to run the traditional install? The website seems to suggest that Windows installation is preferred, but the software isn't provided.
    Thanks.

    Hey
I have no idea why apple doesn't update its bootcamp driver after all this time. I need to update my imac graphic drivers update in windows due to adobe flash player crashing my graphics driver whenever Im browsing a flash heavy website. ADM website doesn't allow me to download the drivers but I thought maybe one of you has found a direct link to the driver.
    Thanks

    Go here: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/amd_catalyst_13_1_whql_download.html
Scroll down and click the link that says: Download AMD Catalyst Mobility 13.1 Win 8 | Win 7 | Vista (64-bit)
That will download the full driver directly from AMD.

  • Will I lose Raided Drives if I wipe the boot drive?

    Hey,
I'm having a couple different issues with my computer, so I'm hoping if I wipe down and zero out the boot drive and reinstall evrything back to the factory settings, some of the issues will be resolved.
I have two 500gb drives in the Mac Pro that are Raided together. I performed the raid through the disc utilities. I am wondering if I erase everything from the boot drive will it be able to reconize the Raid btw the two drives when it is restored, giving me acesss to everything saved on the raid.
    Thanks very much!

RAID-ness is an attibute of the Drive, not the Mac, and not the boot drive.
If you took a RAID drive out and put it in another Mac running a similar Operating System, it would still be a RAID drive.
Rebuild your boot drive with confidence, it should have no impact on your RAID drives.

  • WinXP booted after BIOS update cleared RAID setting, now won't boot in RAID mode

I updated the P965 Platinum BIOS to 1.7 and my system stopped booting.  After much experimentation I discovered it would boot if I unplugged the monitor and mouse, so I was able to "upgrade" to 1.6, and it's working again.  However, the first time it booted blind with 1.7 it got all the way to Windows before I realized what happened.
My system was set up with a RAID1 pair, but the BIOS upgrade cleared the SATA mode to IDE, and it booted Windows before I changed it back.  Now Windows won't boot when I set it to RAID.  It complains <windows>/system32/hal.dll is missing or corrupt.  It seems to work (mostly) when I put it back to IDE mode.  How do I get it back to RAID1?

    hi all
my computer is x201i 3249 cbc
last 2 weeks my computer suffered from blue screen
after counselling i found out that it is due to my wireless driver's not updated
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproperf/thread/781bc689-7bd3-49d1-b208-6a2a4a81...
here is the conclusion (after I sent my dmp file to the helper):
The DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bug check has a value of 0x000000D1. This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.

I have looked on the manufacturers website and there is an updated driver for you wireless card :
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70656.html
Yours is dated oct 2010 as above so depending on what card it is the newest dates are below:
Intel WIFI and WIMax 6250 - driver is 17 dec 2010
Intel Wireless Lan (bg, abg, abgn) - driver is 19 nov 2010
Thinkpad 802.11bgn Wireless LAN mini pci express adapter II - driver is 30 nov 2010
the message mainly says that my driver date is oct 18 and there are newer ones now and i also think it shall be the solution
so I went to lenove and downloaded this one:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73611
we can clearly see that its release date is 2010/11/9
then here comes the installation and what i want to ask:
first i uninstalled my older wireless driver using control panel
then i installed the newer one
but when i check it in control panel, unfortunately it still shows "driver date: 2010/10/8" which is the same as older one
no matter what new drivers i intalled, they all showed 10/8 in the control panel whatever the actual release date they have
so the blue screen just keeps troubling me
may you tell me what'sthe  reason and the solution?
put an end to this plz...(a new computer but almost crashs at least once a day)
    thank you all
    Wayne

programs, thinkvantage, system update.  if you don't already have it download it from the link and run it. it will give you a list of updated drivers for your system.  don't just download and install all of them at once, do it one at a time and reboot after each one.  if there is one for your bios, do that one first.

    Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2000+
RAM: 500MB DDR 266MHz SDRAM DIMM

DVD: Pioneer DVR-106, Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD v.7., Pinnacle Studio SE v.8
    CD: Sony CRX300A1

Must I observe some special procedure because of the RAID   or can I follow the standard procedure as detailed at MSI site for the MS-6380E?
Any experienced hints welcome, and by the way, have a merry Xmas and Happy new year.

    oops,
just to be true concerning my PC's data: I dropped the Pinnacle PCTV and got me a MSI TV@anywhere - and every now and then a random blue screen. That's another problem and forum however.
