Can cFP-2020 be used like a FP-1600 without a downloaded vi

Is it possible to use a RT FieldPoint interface module like a non-RT module? I want to adapt some code to RT but would like to transition to the FieldPoint hardware. Is it required that the cFP-2020 module have a downloaded vi to operate?

Khalid is correct, you do not have to download a VI to the controller to use it. There are a few ways to communicate with your Fieldpoint bank. You can target the controller with LabVIEW RT and then when you click run on your VI, the program will run on the controller without you having to actually transfer the VI to the target. It is actually running embedded on the controller but is not stored there after you restart the controller. See chapter 4 in the cFP-2020 User Manual for more information. You can also build the application to the controller so that it is stored there and has the ability to start upon boot up of the controller. The last way I think may be what you are looking for, which is to use the Fieldpoint VIs without targeting the controller. You can just access the channels of the bank using IO Points. This tutorial gives a nice explanation of how to do this.

i'm new to macs and am considering purchasing my first one. i am setting up an audio system with a digital media player/reciever (Linn Majik DSM) and i was recommended to use a NAS for storing music files. I got the suggestion to use a mac mini instead (small form factor, low energy use and also get a 'full computer'). Does anyone know if a mac mini (or mini server) can be used like a NAS to house music files. also, would this play nicely with other computers on the network (windows7). thanks in advance.

I've been using a mini primarily as a media server in my family room for 5 or 6 years. It is connected directly via HDMI to my receiver which is connected via HDMI to a TV.
For music, you can control iTunes with an iPad/iPhone using the built-in OS-X iTunes remote server, works fine. For video, the mini really doesn't cut it even when connected to an HDTV. (at least the late 2011 with video card doesn't). The video quality is OK, but not as good as a BR player.
I use my Bluray player as a UPnP device and haven't found a Mac server that gives fully customizable UPnP menus. However, the Mezzmo server (windows only) does, which adds a bit of complexity but is worth it to me.
My Mac does not show up as a UPnP device, you will need a server of some kind.

The only times I've tried - on holiday/vacation with no broadband - this has failed because Airplay of protected content requires a brief authorisation connection to Apple's servers.
Conversely an ipad hooked up to a TV using the HDMI adapter works without internet for media stored on it as does a Mac computer running iTunes eg MacMini with HDMI out.

Can LabVIEW variables be used like those found in a Java program?

I created a decoding program in Java that reads in a certain number, or code, and returns the decoded version of that number.
I tried initially to create this program inside of LabVIEW itself but was hindered by my lack of familiarity and knowledge of what LabVIEW can and can't do and how to approach the problem in LabVIEW.
My stumbling blocks in LabVIEW seem to be the arrays and working the variables. I'm probably approaching this completely wrong, more than likely because I'm trying to think in Java rather than LabVIEW.
Any help that can be given is most appreciated. Also I have attached a text document with my Java code in it. It's not perfect but it works.
If I need to clarify anything just ask.

In LabVIEW the wire is the variable. The way you pass parameters to functions (subvis) is with a wire through the connector pane. Same for returning results.
Forget that local variables exist! A lot of new programmers that come from a text based programming background discover the LabVIEW local and global variables way too early. Like duct tape they can be useful. But it is possible to write huge complex applications without touching them. And the code is much simpler than programs of less complexity that make extensive use of locals and globals.
Since you are new to LabVIEW you can become a very good programmer if you keep the following in mind. It is a little confusing but "local variables" and "global variables" are not really variables in labVIEW like they are in Java. The wires are the variables. Those rectangle things you create from controls or indicators are more like a function for that control or indicator. They can not exist without an owning control or indicator. It is unfortunate that they are called variables but they are a relic of the stone ages when code was carved into cave walls.

Can a selection be used to create an arc without clipping art to the selection size?

I need to arc a rectangular shaped piece of art into an arc.
The art has bleed which can't be calculated into the arc, but needs to remain as a bleed. (Just like a clipping path obscures the view of the extraneous art, yet it's still there)
Is there a way to tell Illustrator to designate a selection to use as the starting area…and then arc it into a shape…without first eliminating the art/photo/type hanging off into the bleed?
In the following example, the orange rectangle is the area of the art I need to warp into the shape of the arc laying on top…yet I need the bleed to remain.

No, unfortunately not: different shapes are warped quite differently.
My
experience has been that because of the irregular things hanging off
the sides, illustrator uses those when it calculates the arc. I need it
to calculate the warp of this art using the yellow box as "from"...and
the warp shape as "to".
To get things to work properly, you can only apply one warp, and the obvious choice is to get everything inside (by getting rid of outlying parts, hence the Clipping Mask with subsequent snipping off) and then inflate the photograph part and get it as nice and even as possible; this has been the basis for the instructions below.
Referring to the AI file (see bold type) and an amended version of post #17 (I can see that both the photograph(s) and the vector artwork are to be clipped):
If you have some vector/raster artwork (this is the cat and the circles) within a rectangle (this is the upper, smaller rectangle) and a woody photograph in the background (I can see that the woody photograph to have bleed is only in the right side), all of which are supposed to be warped using Arc, so that the warped woody photograph extends past the vector artwork to also function as a bleed (the bleed seems to be 18pt, corresponding to the lower, larger rectangle), the bounding rectangle of the vector/raster artwork forming the basis of the Arc, and if you are willing to adjust the woody photograph which may have a slight distortion and live with a non constant bleed, you may:
1) Copy the rectangle (this is the upper path in the first Group), to get a top rectangle and a bottom rectangle (the bottom rectangle replaces the lower path in the second Group which cannot be used here, step 6) is to create a path that can do it);
2) Select the top rectangle and the underlying vector/raster artwork, Group them, and reduce the opacity to 50% (so you can see the woody photograph beneath;
3) Copy the bottom rectangle to the front, to get a middle rectangle;
4) Copy the middle rectangle to the front to and Object>Path>Average, to get an supplementary middle rectangle with W = H = 0;
5) Select 3) and 4) and Object>Compound Path>Make, to get a middle compound path;
6) Scale the bottom rectangle up by a suitable amount, possibly 1.1 times for W and 1.2 times for H so that it covers the desired part of the photograph including the bleed (see more later);
7) Select the scaled bottom rectangle and the underlying photograph and Object>Clipping Mask>Make;
Now   you need to get rid of the outlying parts of the woody photograph (copy before these destructive steps and hide the original set):
8) In the Transparency palette/panel dropdown, click Multiply (or just anything but Normal);
9) Object>Flatten Transparency (just keep the defaults, especially if you have vector artwork along with the image(s));
Now you need to resize the Clipping Mask to match the rectangle/artwork Group:
10)   Scale the Clipping Mask down by the reverse amount of that in 6) (1.1   times for W and 1.2 times for H) so that it has the same size as the rectangle/artwork Group, but with the woody photograph compressed;
The main shaping step:
11) Select everything and Effect>Warp>Arc (this will give the top rectangle the Arc shape, and everything else will be warped correspondingly);
Creating/shaping the woody photgraph/bleed along with the middle compound path:
12)    Select the Clipping Mask and the middle compound path (easy to do by clicking it in the Layers palette/panel), then Object>Expand Appearance, then
12a) Click the uppermost Anchor Point (which corresponds to the inner W = H = 0 path of the middle compound path, and its says Anchor, if you have Smart Guides on), to set a more correct centre for scaling and thereby reduce the additional distortion of the photograph, and then
12b) DoubleClick the Scale Tool and scale up by the same amount as in 6) (1.1 times for W and 1.2 times for H).
Placing the woody photograph:
8)   Move the woody photograph vertically until the bleed is roughly equal on all sides and the photograph is placed correctly behind the   artwork/rectangle Group;
You may need to redo some of the steps to adjust and get them right. In this process, you may move the supplementary middle rectangle 4) upwards before creating the compound path to further reduce the additional distortion of the woody photograph.
When things are right (if they will ever be):
9) Increase the opacity of the artwork/rectangle Group to 100%.
Final note: I believe the exact distortion of the woody photograph is less crucial than it would have been for the cat.

Can Exchange activesync be used for calendar and contacts without BES?

you dont need BES10. you can do EAS directly from the device to the Exchange Server.

Can we install and use Essbase 9.3.1 without Shared services ?

we need to have two different database schemas for Shared services and EAS. But we are currently having only one schema, so we started to install and configure with out using Shared services. Finally i have installed and configured EAS, Server and client. While configuring , i left the shared services part as we don't have another schema to use for that.
When i logged into the Essbase environment, i tried to add a server, it was done. now when i tried to create an application under that sever.under the create option "application" is in disable state and rest are enabled.
I am not getting where i went wrong.IS that the reason,i have not installed and configured Shared services
Can anyone please let me know the reason to which i am failing to create a new application under the newly added server.

1. You need not install and configure shared services , if you intend to work only on essbase.
2. In version 9, if you had installed essbase server, and have essbase admin server along with essbase administration sevices ( i.e EAS) , you are good to work on essbase.
3. No need of shared serives, and even no need of any schema to configure, if you dont want to use shared services for managing users.
4. The reason for failure? Pls send logs that would help

Why can't I export using Quicktime Pro to m4v without it being "protected"?

I have .dv files and want to convert to m4v files but when I upload them to my website they have "(protected)" after the file name and do not allow me to view them online. This happens from any format to the "iPod" (m4v) export. When I try to view them using Safari, the page fills with lots of symbols and Safari gets overwhelmed and crashes.
I've gone into "info" and can't find anything that seems to protect the file.
Any ideas on what's going wrong and what to do?

I've never gotten a "protected" file when exporting to the iPod .m4v extension.
Only those purchased from the iTunes Music Store have any DRM protection. If you had some purchased music in your .dv file the export would also be protected. Normally protected files don't even allow export.
If your file is being displayed as text in a browser window it means you've failed to use the proper html code to call the QuickTime plug-in.

You may ned to use the qtsrc tag to "force" the QT plug-in be used for playback. Many servers are not configured to use the relatively new .m4v extension.

Can't FTP or use CPanel with router; okay without

We have a WRT-54G router connected to a Surfboard SBV5222 cable modem.
Recently I started having problems connecting to one particular website via FTP and via CPanel. I get error 530 "Login authentication failed". I get this error from any computer in the house using the router (wired or wireless). (I am able to view the website in a browser, though.) My ISP reset my password, and they were able to log in with it.
I am not having problems FTPing (port 21) to any other sites, or using CPanel (port 2082) to any other site.
After trying many other things, I found that if I bypassed the router and hooked my computer directly up to the cable modem, the problem went away.
I have checked all the router settings and cannot find anything that appears to be preventing my connecting to this one website on ports 21 or 2082. My firmware version is v1.00.4, Dec. 8, 2005.
This problem only started about a week ago; I was using FTP just fine last month. I would appreciate any help!

You would have had to set up find my iphone on the iphone itself before it was stolen. This means signing into your icloud account and setting it up on the iphone.
If you did not do this, then there is no way at all to track it.
Report the theft to the police and change all passwords.

How can i copy music from old laptop to new without everything downloading via cloud?

I tried to back up my songs to an external drive and then import them to the new laptop. It worked for about the first day, but then it wouldn't play my songs. I kept trying and now it plays, but it shows every song i ever purchased since 6th grade! There is a cloud symbol next to some. I don't want to download every single song from icloud (over 2,000 songs). I just want to copy the 800+ songs on my old laptop before i get rid of it. PLEASE Help.

Hi. I've recently been given a pc tablet to enable me to always be connected to my boss since some of what we do is only pc compatible. He's a big Outlook lover and intended to use Windows through Paralles to have all this on my Mac.
After my Mac died and I had to buy a new one, I'm a little leary of doing so and thus investigated the Mail program again. I am confused about it at this point and would love it if anyone could answer some questions i have.
1. If I have an icloud account which I currently use for my .me mail, can I even use Mail anymore?
2. My Mail program hasn't been the same since i upgraded to Lion - which is when I started my iCloud account.
When I open the program all I see is the toolbar - no actual mail or screen even!
3. Can Mail be set up like Outlook in that I could have all of the email accounts I must manage for work (mostly gmail accounts) feeding into one location?
Sorry if this all sounds silly! I really never had a use for Mail when it worked, other than for my personal emailing so I'm afraid I never really learned enough about it!

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

I had never heard of someone using the iPhone Number as the ID in the iMessages account in the Mac version.
i.e without adding an Apple ID
iMessages does allow iPhone numbers and mine lists mine.
I would try this.
Sign Out of the iMessages account and Quit Messages
On the iPhone in Settings > Messages remove the Apple ID
Set the iPhone to Airplane mode for a few minutes (to break with the Server)
On starting the phone up again check the iPhone Number is ticked for iMessages.
If it is add the Apple ID
On the Mac restart Messages
Add the Apple ID
At this point you should get a pop up or two saying the iPhone is using the Number and Apple ID.
Accept these and they get added to the Receive At list and Send From drop down.
