Can CheckInRequest.Item object be used between threads?

I have inherited a custom connector and am helping figure out a problem that occurred when my predecessor attempted to improve performance uploading assets by releagating the insertion into the DAM into a separate thread. He did this in the CheckInHandler class by handing the object of type CheckinRequest.Item returned in the list returned by getItemList(request) to a separate thread run by a thread request pool.
However when this thread attempts to perform the upload, the input stream returned by item.getContent() appears to have been truncated. This means in practice that a zero byte file gets uploaded. The problem goes away if I replace the code that sends the item to another thread to run synchronously in the CheckInHandler.
First question is what is going on? The second question is are there any suggested best practices to optimizing perofrmance of insertions. This code was added in response to compaints that the Adobe applications (such as Illustrator) froze for a prolonged period when uploading assets to the DAM.

I do agree (and use it myself as well, allbeit with Excel VBA routines) but this advise should be accompanied by the warning that :the checks in PFCG uploads are insufficient and minor flaws in your file can create an awfull mess. Practice a lot, and do this on sandbox clients/systems. Basically the fixed record length of table entries within the download files is something to very carefully watch. Having proper knowledge of the tables and data structure for roles is a must in my opinion.
If you search the forums for mass creation of (derived) roles with ECATT you'll find safer options as well. It may leave some manual work but that automatically includes all PFCG's checks and safeties.
Uploads skip more checks than I find comfortable......

There is a conflict with third party software or your system keyboard shortcuts. Lately, there have been many postings about conflicts with Chrome extensions so check there first.

Can portal session cookies be used between two data centers

OAS generates the following header information and session information for my application. However when I need to failover the originating OAS datacenter into my hot stand-by for maintenance or upgrades, the OAS in the other datacenter responds with a 503 web error. We are using Akamai's GTM to manage the liveness of the datacenter, so we would need the hot stand-by OAS portal in that datacenter to return a 302 error code. Is there some method that we can add to our portal application which would always return a 302 error code.
See header information collected through wfetch. The 503 error is caused by the hot stand-by data center not accepting or recognizing the cookie. Both OAS datacenters are IDENTICAL in Oracle levels, application levels, web servers, portals and OS patches.

Can an imported object be used as a keynote mask?

There's a way, but it's not as direct as just copying and pasting. What you'll want to do is export out of Illustrator as an .SVG file, then use svg2key to convert the file to a Keynote presentation.

Sharing socket object between threads - Is any sync required?

For example, a thread receives (listens) datagram packets at incoming socket and forwards them downstream through another datagram socket. Another thread listens packets at this second socket and forwards the data via the first socket. It is possible that two threads invoke methods of the same socket (one is receiveng while another is sending). This situation is not described in the DatagramSocket manual. I beleive there is underlying synchronization at the OS kernel level. Can I relay on it? Thanks.

I expected some critics for using old plain sockets instead of nio :)You should use NIO if you have hundreds of connections. If you have a small number of connections and want a simple implementation use blocking IO as you have.

You have a different input and output stream. There is a lock on each. This is your best hint.

at the application level.That depends on how you build and send your messages. If each part of the message can be sent in one hit and the order does not matter you are fine.
If you have a single object shared between threads, then all members are shared, not just static variables.

Can't access object using "id" or "name" if created with actionscript

How can you register an instance of an object with actionscript so that it's id or name value is accessible?
I included a simple example where a Button is created using mxml and in the same way it is created using actionscript. The actionscript object is inaccessible using it's "id" and "name" property.

It is a very rare occurrence when I miss not being able to access an object (object property, really) using the ["name"] notation for objects created using actionscript.
In MXML the compiler is conveniently adding an attribute to the class with the same name as the id, so you can conveniently refer to it using the [] notation. While we explicitly specify an application container to use, the MXML compiler creates a custom container which is a derivative of the base container and to that it adds properties for the children declared in MXML. I guess it also effectively calls "addElement" for us when the container is being constructed.
Your example assumes that using "addElement" to add the button to the application container is the same as declaring a variable (ie property ). It isn't, so there's no point in looking for an property of the name "as3Button" using the [] notation, because it doesn't exist. The container is managing a collection of children in it's display list and that's not the same as being accessible as properties of the container.
Generally speaking, accessing properties using the ["name"] syntax isn't necessary.

[edit: you may wonder why "addElement" doesn't conveniently also add the "id" attribute to be an property of the container class. Unfortunately, it can't because the container class would need to be dynamic and it's not. A further complication would be that adding properties at runtime would invite naming clashes at runtime with associated mayhem. MXML can do this because the compiler generates the class and can trap name duplication at compile time.

We’re seeing the following issue: sql - Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? - Stack Overflow (posted by a colleague of mine) and are curious to know if this behaviour is due to a difference between standard and enterprise, or could we doing something else wrong in our DB config.?
We have also reproduced the issue on the following stacks:
Oracle SE One 11.2.0.3 (with Spatial enabled)
Redhat Linux 2.6.32-358.6.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 16 20:59:36 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
11.2.0.3.0 Standard Edition and 11.2.0.4.0 Standard Edition (both with Spatial enabled)

However, the SQL works fine if we try it on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 *Enterprise* Edition.

In my experience sdo_filter ALWAYS uses the spatial index, so that's not the problem. Since you did not provide the explain plans, we can't say for sure but I think yhu is right: Standard Edition can't use the bitmap operations, and thus it'll take longer to combine the results of the two queries (because the optimizer will surely split this OR up in two parts, then combine them).
BTW: when asking questions about queries here, it would be nice if you posted the queries here as well, so that we do not have to check another website in order to see what you are doing. Plus it will probably get you more answers, because not everyone can be bothered to click on that link. It would also have been nice if you had posted your own answer on the other post here as well, because my recommendation would have been to use union all - but since you already found that out for yourself my recommendation would have been a little late.
