Can I change Illustrator's Script folder location?

Is it possible to change the location of where illustrator looks for scripts, or is it possible to add a location?

Not sure if it is possible from what I have seen. But I could be un/misinformed. ;-)
You can have a slug script per say, that is merely used as a reference file, that uses an #include statement to reference a script location.
// Example:
#include /origPath/subPath/continuedPath/blahBlah/fileLocation/scriptName.js
I did also see the following, which talks about going in and manually altering presets, which may be an option but not too simple to maintain perhaps. If it does work let us know.

Hope something proves useful, keep us posted.

  • Is it possible to change the Presets Scripts Folder Location?

    Hi,
I work with Photoshop on a daily basis for my job, but my company has the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Presets\Scripts folder admin-locked (due to it's location in the Program Files folder. I've already asked IT, but they told me that they are unfortunately unable to give me access to that folder because my user profile can't be given admin-rights (due to company policy). I'd really like to change the location of the scripts folder so that I can add some scripts of my own to be able to use in Photoshop.
Is this possible or is there any sort of workaround?
    Thank you all in advance!

You can always use browse to go to a different location - I know it's not ideal, but it does tend to remember that folder once you navigate to it.  I would push your IT people about getting you access to that folder.  I also work in for a company that severely limits access to program files, but I made my case that I need to have access to the Photoshop subfolders to do my job.  They should be able to grant you access to just that folder.

  • I just installed iTunes on my computer, where I already have all my music. I went to Edit Preferences Advanced, and changed the iTunes Media Folder Location to where I have all my music, in the "Local Disk." But iTunes wont import all my music. Help?

I just installed iTunes on my computer, where I already have all my music. I went to Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and changed the iTunes Media Folder Location to where I have all my music, in the "Local Disk." But iTunes wont import all my music. Help?

Have you looked in the Music App on your iPhone? On the iPhone music is played by the Music App not iTunes.

  • How do I change the iTunes media folder Location and save it?

I have a seagate drive where I store my music and have it shared as "M".  Each time iTunes starts up, it defaults back to C:\...... and if there is a device connnected, it transfers the purchases from that device to this directory.
I need to manually go in and change the location each time iTunes starts.  Is there a way to save this location as the default?  I am on Version 10.
    thanks in advance

If iTunes starts up and it can't get access to the location that you have declared as the media folder it will revert to the default subfolder of the library folder. Any downloads or rips will be put in that location until you correct the media folder location via Edit > Preferences > Advanced.
Either make absolutely certain the drive is active and available before starting iTunes or place the library folder on the other drive as well (see this post)  so that iTunes either opens normally or warns that it cannot find the library. Note if this is a networked drive rather than locally connected USB/SATA there may be noticeable performance issues with the latter solution.

  • How can I change my "Home directory" folder name?

    Hello, everyone.
I was given a pre-owned MacBook Pro that's running OS 10.6.8.  How can I change the name on the Home directory folder?  I was able to change the Administrator Account settings, but the Home directory still shows the previous owner's name.  It bothers me a bit, though, to see the previous owner's name still come up on the Home folder.
I came across the instruction listed below, but I can't get past step 4.  It instructs me "rename it just like I would rename any folder."  I can't seem to rename it, though.  The cursor doesn't come up when I click on the folder name.
For Mac OS X v10.5 or later
    Enable the root user.
    Log in as root.
    Navigate to the /Users folder.
Select the Home folder with the short name you want to change, and rename it just like you would rename any folder. Keep in mind that the shortname must be all lowercase, with no spaces, and only contain letters.
Use the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier) in System Preferences to create a new user with the Account name or Short Name that you used in the previous step.
Click OK when "A folder in the Users folder already has the name 'account name'. Would you like to use that folder as the Home folder for this user account?" appears. Note: This will correct the ownership of all files in the Home folder, and avoid permissions issues with the contents.
Choose Log Out from the Apple menu.
Log in as the newly created user. You should be able to access all of your original files (on the desktop, in Documents, and in the other folders of this Home).
After verifying that your data is as expected, you can delete the original user account via the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier).
    Disable the root user.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi everyone,
    I followed this https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3872
and got to the stage of having renamed my Home folder with the new name but the Home folder is STILL designated to the old name?
When I try and create a new user with the new name, I don't get asked if I'd like to use the existing name as Home folder, I get told I can't use the newname because it exists already - thats the end of it - no further options.
So to clarify - I now have oldname folder STILL assigned as Home folder. A newname folder with all my stuff in - apps, desktop, etc etc but this is just another user folder.
Interestingly at login stage, the oldname folder isn't an option. I think I've confused the system somewhere by titling things differently at some stage in an attempt to rename Home folder.
I'm running Mountain Lion (as of yesterday) and because I've kinda lost the use of my User folder as the Home folder, can't get to my Time Machine. I'm in trouble but I'm trying not to panic. Would appreciate any help!

  • ITunes is changing my iTunes Music folder location, why?

I keep my iTunes library on an external hard drive. Every so often, iTunes resets my iTunes Music folder location back to the C drive on my computer and messes everything up, including my current downloads. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to stop it?

If you launch iTunes when the external drive is not mounted, iTunes will set back to the default location on the boot drive. That's expected behavior (though it would be nice if iTunes would bring up a dialog that it can't find the selected library). The cure for that is to make sure you don't launch iTunes until the volume where you keep your iTunes library is completely and clearly mounted.
If iTunes is dropping the location even though your external drive is mounted, that's clearly unexpected behavior. Post back and I'm sure folks here will be able to help further.
    Regards.

  • Can we change the test scripts in TCK (JavaCard tests for compatibility)

    Hi everyone,
I would appreciate if anyone can tell me if we can change the test scripts when testing JavaCards using TCK. Lets say we want to introduce few more APDU's to the test script which already is present in a precompiled format. Can we somehow add to the script and then compile it again.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    AQ

    Read the JC-TCK documentation:
JC2 Some Conformance Tests may have properties that may be changed.Properties that
can be changed are identified in the TCK configuration interview. Apart from
changing such properties and other allowed modifications described in this User’s
Guide (if any), no source or binary code for a Conformance Test may be altered in
any way without prior written permission. Any such allowed alterations to the
Conformance Tests would be posted to the Java Licensee Engineering web site and
    apply to all licensees.

  • Can you change the iDVD default save location in the Documents folder?

This may be a stupid question, but I've looked through the preferences and searched through the forums and online in general, but it seems like that's such a basic function and I can't find anything on it!

For new projects when you go to same you should see the save window which, if you expand it, will allow you to save anywhere you would like. For existing projects you can do a save as and use the Save as window to change the location. The screenshot is typical of a Save As or Save window:

  • Can't change Window User's Profile Location

I would like to change the Window User's Profile Location. I've followed the instructions on page 85 of User Management Apple's document unsuccussefully.
In the Windows tab of Group Management, I have enter my new SMB sharepoint :
    User Profile Path : \\servername\sharename\folder\usershortname
The Window Client's computer is recocgnized by the OD / PDC Leopard server, I can login without any problem, but at the end of the Window XP session's, the profile is still saved at //ODMasterServer/Users/Profiles/.
The strangest is that in XP I perfectly reach \\servername\sharename\folder\ and can write what I want within.
I think that the Leopard PDC doesn't send the correct information to the client for the profile folder path's.
Where can I verify or change it ?
A solution would be to write a login script for the client, any idea of a short script ?

    I solve partialy my problem.
I use a Windows Server 2003 with file sharing.
    1) Add the server the same way you add an XP client computer in the OD domain.
    2) Create a file sharing using the server admin console (DO NOT USE the file sharing on the properties of the file) choosing full access for admin and read/write access for users
    3) In the security of the shared directory add the OD admistrator's (be careful domainnamedomainadmin not only domain_admin) and give him full access.
So apparently the PDC and the SMB doesn't work correctly in Leopard Server apart for the file /Users/Profiles.
It works more or less fine.
Now, I want to hide the home's and profil's file to the other users (mac or windows).

  • ITunes keeps changing to the default folder location

I have no idea what's going on here, but, it's getting very frustrating.
Here's the situation: I am running the latest version of iTunes (11.whatever) on Windows 7, and my default iTunes Library location is in My Music on my C:. Unfortunately, my C: is a tiny SSD, and I don't want all of my content going in there, since there's no room. I have two other internal hard drives that I use for file storage, and I want to relocate my library to one of these drives. These drives are not external, they are not networked, they are just regular, plain old drives that boot along with the computer.
I have tried following the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
But, I had no luck with it. When I follow these steps, I open up iTunes, I turn on the "Keep iTunes Organized" option as stated, then press OK. Then I change the file location (in Advanced, under Preferences) to the place I want the library to reside, on a different drive. After pressing OK, I go to File, Library, and choose Organize Library (checking off the "Consolidate Files" option). After this completes, I try to delete the original iTunes library in My Music on C:, but, it won't let me, telling me the file is still in use. After closing iTunes, I am able to deleted it. Then, when I open iTunes again, it just completely ignores the folder that I created and moved everything to, makes a new folder in My Music, and goes back to default settings like nothing ever happened.
I've seen a lot of people complaining about this problem when trying to set up their libraries on networked or external drives, but, that is not my issue. Any help would be appreciated, and please let me know if I can provide any more information.
    Thanks!

    Hi
First post so do not shoot me down if I break some rule here but as I was getting the same issue, V Frustrating i know, I thought I would post my solution.
Felix, above pointed me in the right direction but I did this
After following the steps from Dr Von Smith I closed iTunes
Went to the old C drive location
    Moved the
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    iTunes Library.itl
    iTunes Library.xml
    iTunes Music Library.xml
    and the Album Artwork
to the new location on my D drive
Held shift and clicked on iTunes icon
it asked me for library location so I pointed it to the new location on D
    Closed iTunes
Opened iTunes nomally and the Preferences > Advanced > location has held
Time will tell but at least it seems to be sticking now....

  • How can I change the default save folder in MP Navigator for saved scans?

I am using MP Naqvigator with my Canon MP600 multifunction device and saving to an external drive is clunky because each time I save a document I have to browse to the device and the destination folder. I have tried to find a way of setting the default save folder from /users/myname/pictures/mpnavigator to volumes/drivename/foldername so that it speeds up the process. I've looked at all of the preferences files for the MP600 in the application and support libraries but can't see any reference to that default path. I'd be very grateful for any solutions from other Canon users.

It should still work the same way. I changed mine in either Snow Leopard or Lion and it remains the way i Changed it in Mountain Lion.
    bob[07:25]~>defaults read com.apple.screencapture location
    /Users/bob/Documents/ScreenCaptures/
to change it I had entered:
    defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/bob/Documents/ScreenCaptures/

  • How can I change Illustrator language to English?

I have subscripted to Adobe Cloud and downloaded Photoshop/Illustrator but the default language at that time (in my Adobe Application Manager) was Portuguese so it installed the portuguese version of Photoshop and Illustrator.
Changing the language in Adobe Application Manager preferences and re-downloading Photoshop changed its language but the very same procedure didn't look like to work with Illustrator.
Can I have to setup something else in order to make it work?

Okay, so I know this is almost 3 years old, but I struggled a lot with this and finally found a solution for windows:
    I'm on a windows 8.1 with adobe cc 2014
Change language in CC and reinstall illustrator as described in the video posted earlier:
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/cs6-creative-cloud-feature-tour-for-design/installing-multiple-l anguages-of-a-desktop-application/
Move undesired language pack file folders (mine was named da_DK for Danish) from the folders below to a backup location on your computer:
    Presets
    Extra features
Support files > required > resources
Now when I open illustrator everything is in English!

  • Photoshop CS and script folder location

    Hello Community,
I had a look around but can't find my solution.
I recently upgraded my Apple OS from 10.6 to 10.9. I was using Photoshop CS for my small needs as my main RAW covnerter is Capture One and have upgraded to CS4.
I forgot to export the actions (scripts) that I had done.
I can't seem to locate them in the CS folder on the app folder and in the library.
    Anyone has a solution ?
Thanks in advance for oyur help and Best Wishes for the New Year.
    Denis

Ok. Here is what I found. On windows, the factions file is
    ~ /AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Photoshop/8.0/Adobe Photoshop CS Settings/Actions Palette.psp.lnk
WTF? Anyway, I copied the file to ~/Desktop, fired up CS6 and extracted all of the contained actions set.
    The command
      find ~/AppData/ -name "*.psp*"
will work to find the settings file on Windows (in a unix shell like cygwin).
    The command
      find ~/Library/ -name "*.psp*"
    Should work on OS X.
