Can I clean install CS4?

Hello!
I recently bought a new PowerBook Pro. I have the full version of PS CS2 and just bought CS4 Design Standard (upgrade). Do I need to install CS2 first and then CS4, or can I just install CS4?
Thanks in advance!

  • How many times can you clean install leopard on the same computer?

How many times can you clean install leopard on the same computer? Will the leopard dvd run out of installations and not let you install anymore?

    Hi colman Prez;
Now that the funny comments have been made, I have a serious question and that why are you worry about reinstalling Leopard with an Erase & Install which is what I take that you mean when you say clean install. In actually fact there is no such thing in OS X as a clean install.
I am curious because in all the years I have used OS X, I have yet to do an Erase & Install yet.
I know with Windows that they suggest reformatting and reinstalling at the drop of a hat but that isn't true with OS X.

  • OS X and Windows on MacBook Pro. Can I clean install only the OS X?

I have both OS X and Windows on my MacBook Pro. The OS X has been ridiculously slow and freezes up most of the time, especially when I use Office. The Windows partition has been working perfectly. Can I clean install just the OS X part of my computer? How would I go about doing that? I want to leave the Windows partition alone.
    Thanks!!

    Hopefully this will work:
Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.

  • Can uninstalling and installing CS4 fix the debug event error message?

    Hello,
Can uninstalling and installing  cs4 solve the debug event error message?

Can uninstalling and installing  cs4 solve the debug event error message?
Well, that DOES seem to be the scripted mantra of Adobe TS in some out of the way country. According to most reports, that cures everything from trying to Capture over a USB cable to working with footage from your cellphone camera. In most cases, it has cured very little, though maybe the Debug Event error IS something that will be fixed by this.
    Good luck,

  • Can you clean install Yosemite?

My iMac is becoming a bit sluggish so I would like to take the opportunity for a clean install with Yosemite. Can I clean install Yosemite as you could with Mavericks by using ctrl -R, erasing the hard drive, reformatting and then using internet recovery?

Rather than an unnecessary clean install answer some questions about the slowness to see if we can determine what is causing the problem.  What exactly is slowing down, booting, a application or applications, which ones, etd.?

You can not not install ISE CUE software on UC500, but only UC500 specific CUE software.
And, (I don't know if that is the case), if the language you need is supported on CUE for ISR but not on UC500 CUE, there is no solution, and you can only complain to Cisco for not having delivered the languages they had publicily promised to the public.
Furthemore to that, it apperas there is a bug in 8.6.3 that makes so mailbox caller guide is played with default system language instead of user setting langiage.

  • Can I clean install a Windows 7 Pro System Builder on a Lenovo PC with Windows 8 preinstalled?

Hi. I would like to clean install windows 7 on a Lenovo PC  that came with Windows 8 core preinstalled. I want to format the entire drive and remove windows 8 and clean install windows 7.  I already tried the clean install of Windows 7 Pro to get all of my drivers in line, and now I would like to buy a Product Key.
Would  a Windows 7 Pro System Builder work in my case? Would it work just as smoothly as a retail version? I understand that the System Builder is an OEM version that includes the Product Key, COA, and DVD) Just want to make sure before I buy the System Builder version of Windows 7 Pro.  Thanks.
    Grazzie
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

that should be retail since it seemed to be used for pc upgrades either way your new system builder key should work. those are called refresh because they re-released them sincea bug was found in thier installers. Do you have any key in the computer atm? or is windows just waiting to be activated?
EDIT: its a good copy look here>  http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/14-windows-7-direct-download-links
Should you want to use the DVD images permanently, and don't own a product key yet, you can order a Windows 7 OEM or retail version from Amazon. The OEM reinstallation versions contain a DVD with a product key just like the retail versions. They are significantly cheaper, but lack a proper box packaging, and don't include technical support by Microsoft. The OEM key will work with the Digital River downloads, so you can just pick the cheapest one. Sometimes better editions are the cheaper ones, so all of the following links to Amazon offers might be worth checking. I've already tried to find good deals for all editions and linked to them here:

  • Can I clean-install MBP 17" C2D 2,1 (currently using OS X 10.5.8) with OS X 10.7.4?

I want to clean-install my old MBP 17" 2.1 (9L31a) but i've lost my OS X DVD. I figured that even after a software update it still uses OS X 10.5.8. My questions is now what will happen when i clean-install this old MBP with OS X 10.7.4 (since this is the only IO X i now can download from app store)? or should i better find a way to get the old OS X 10.5.8? i will give the MBP to my dad and he will mainly use it for surfing, emailing and some text-editing, means it doesn't have to be the most advanced sytem, but clean and fast would be good

  • Can't clean install Yosemite to 3rd party SSD in 2008 MBP

    Hi all.
I'm a longtime lurker, first time poster. I seem to have really stymied myself with trying to upgrade my ol' reliable MBP.
    My machine:
    Late 2008 15" MacBook Pro
    2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM (3rd party Crucial, 2 matching 2GB sticks - it originally shipped with 2 1GB sticks, I upgraded it around 2 years ago)
120GB SSD (3rd party OCZ Agility III, it originally shipped with a 500GB Hitachi HDD - I've just installed this and am trying to use it)
No optical drive (it broke years ago)
Here is what I've done so far:
Removed the 500GB HDD and inserted the 120GB SSD
Created a bootable USB stick with the Yosemite installer on it
Booted from said USB stick and used Disk Utility to format the SSD with a GUID partition table, with 1 HFS+ (Journaled) formatted partition
    Begun the Yosemite installer
The progress bar crawled for about 3 hours until it got about halfway, then it failed out with an error. Unfortunately I stupidly don't have a copy of the error logs
Booted from the USB stick again
Now the SSD does not show up at all in Disk Utility and I am not given the option of it when attempting to install Yosemite - so I can't reformat the drive or attempt another install
I have tried to run the Apple Hardware Test (to see if there are any problems with the RAM that might have triggered the error installing Yosemite), but unfortunately this does not seem possible on my machine. Since it is a late 2008 model with no optical drive, from the research I've done there seems to be no way I can run it. It can't do an Internet Hardware Test, and the 'trick' of holding F2 during bootup won't work because apparently you need to have the original shipping OS installed. From memory this machine shipped with Leopard - the OS on my old 500GB HDD is Snow Leopard however.
Does anyone have any ideas for what I can do next here? My goal is simply to do a clean install of Yosemite onto my SSD. I'm at a bit of a loss, especially since the SSD isn't even showing up in Disk Utility now.
An additional detail: There isn't anything in the slot where the optical drive should be. 2 years ago I opened my machine and removed it, replacing it with a 2.5" 'optibay' drive caddy. Unfortunately it was a pretty cheap caddy and it never functioned properly, so I removed it before beginning the above process. There is just an empty space now inside the machine, since I threw away my old broken optical drive years ago. I don't know if this may also be causing problems.
Many thanks for any and all assistance!

    Thanks for responding Leopardus.
I tried holding Cmd+R at startup last night, but unfortunately all I got is a flashing folder with a question mark on it, presumably indicating that it can't find any files.
Internet Recovery is unfortunately not possible on my computer, I believe this feature was only included with Macs that shipped with Lion or later versions of OS X (mine shipped with Leopard).
The problem in the thread that you linked seems a bit different to mine - I think the core issue for me is that the SSD is now not recognised at all by Disk Utility, meaning I cannot even format it to try installing again.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can access this 'invisible' SSD? I am considering buying a USB to SATA cable and connecting it to a friend's Mac.

  • Can you just install CS4 over top of CS3 ?

    I installed CS4 on a clean PC.
No problems to report on the instalation there.
I am wanting to install CS4 on my laptop that has CS3 on it.
I'm having troubles finding info on what I need to do (if anything) to aid in a smooth transition.
Any suggestions on where to look would be most welcomed.
    Thank you

    Fantastic.
    Away I go then.
    To CS4 and beyond.
    Thank you for your time.

  • New HD and can't clean install with SL upgrade disc

    I am really stuck here...
My '07 white MacBook HD died last week. It originally came with Tiger, I bought Leopard when it came out, and also bought the Snow Leopard upgrade disc.
When I got the MacBook back today, I thought I'd try a clean install of SL - but it wouldn't install, telling me I needed 10.5 or later in order to install SL. So I then tried installing Leopard, but the disc verification failed multiple times (it only has minor scratches on it!).
I then tried the Leopard install disc that came with my '09 MacBook Pro - but of course it must check the hardware, as it said it could not be installed on the MacBook.
So I then installed Tiger from the original MacBook discs, thinking I could upgrade Tiger to SL (had seen mention of this) - but again, I got the message stating I needed 10.5 or later.
I've seen a YouTube video of someone doing a clean install of SL - but the person had a new Unibody Macbook - and I think the SL must do a hardware check and if it's an older MacBook that wouldn't have originally come with Leopard installed, it doesn't let you do a clean install of SL.
Very frustrating I can't get SL installed on a new HD, even though I do own Leopard!

    hi
actually you should be able to install SL over a Tiger install. i posted here recently with my (positive) experiences and here's an excerpt:
+1. Used the install disks that came with my MBP to put a fresh Tiger on an external FW drive. Updated install to 10.4.11 and installed SL over that. Started to install 3rd party SW one by one – NO ISSUES+
+2. Did a fresh install of SL on an external FW drive and migrated settings, programs, etc. from my MBP – NO ISSUES+
+3. Then I took the plunge and just “upgraded” my 10.5.8 on the internal drive using the SL install disk – NO ISSUES+
+I want to point out that during all 3 installs above I had 2 external FW disks and 1 external FW optical drive (used that for the SL disk) connected to my MBP !+
+Obviously, I took the “usual” precautions (make a bootable clone plus regular TM backup) before I upgraded my internal drive.+
maybe i am lucky that i have 2 external FW drives to juggle with. but if you have one (or get one) this ought to work.

  • Can I still install CS4?

I just had a major virus problem which has apparently wiped a lot of my C:\ drive, the upshot being some of my Adobe software is no longer working. I have my serial number but can't find the original CDs. Everything is now CS5 and 5.5 on the Adobe site. Can I still download and re-install CS4 creative suite?

You know I wish people wouldn't bother replying with smart arse comments. If you don't actually have anything useful to say ith regards to my problem, then don't bother. The CDs exist. They are at work locked in a drawer to which I don;t have the key. The College is closed for the bank holiday until Tuesday and I want to work on some stuff in Flash over the weekend.Other software (e.g. guitar Pro) allows people to download and re-install older versions but apparently with Adobe it's the latest expensive rip-off or nothing!

  • Can i clean install Lion into my Macintosh HD drive and leave Bootcamp as it is?

I would like to clean install Lion into my Macintosh HD drive and leave the bootcamp drive without getting affected from it...
is it possible or do i have to do the install on all the drive?

If you have the Lion installer application in your Applications folder, then I suggest you make a copy in your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself automatically after the installation. By saving it you can make your own USB installer:
    Make Your Own Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing Lion.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disc image file into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable Lion installer that  you can use without having to re-download Lion.
However, if you don't do this you can always redownload the installer by using OS X Lion- About Lion Recovery or by reinstalling Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

  • True you can't clean install Intel iMacs?

    Hi,
When I get a new Mac I generally zero out the drive and reinstall the OS and apps from the provided install discs and run a clean system without all the extra languages, etc.
Somewhere on this forum I thought I read that the new Intel iMacs cannot be restored from the install discs after zeroing the HD.
Is this correct? If so, why not?

It doesn't matter if you clean install it or not as
far as bluetooth goes. When you first boot the
computer after a clean install, it will do a search
for a bluetooth mouse or keyboard by default.
    glor
I learned something very disturbing earlier today from Applecare Tech Support. I tried to boot from my install DVD (holding "c" down as instructed) but it hung. Tried three times with same result. When I called Applecare, they said you MUST HAVE A WIRED KEYBOARD AND MOUSE to boot from the install DVD because Bluetooth doesn't activate early enough for the wireless input devices to be seen in order to complete the various commands.
Their advice - go buy a USB keyboard and mouse so when I have to boot from the install DVD, I can!
This after I ordered my iMac online and PAID EXTRA for the wireless and, on top of that, was not sent a USB set along with the wireless. I feel a little ripped off...
