This confuses me. Are you saying that you are receiving bogus e-mails from some of your contacts, or are you saying that they are receiving bogus e-mails from you?
If the latter, there are a number of reasons that people might be getting e-mail from you. Malware, though technically possible, is extremely unlikely. See Someone is sending messages from my e-mail address!
If the former, that's rather unusual. The only decent explanation I can think of is that a bunch of your Windows-using contacts got infected with something and their machines are being used to spam everyone in their contact lists, which would include you.

I have spent hours on two phone calls and a chat session regarding a billing discrepancy that is THE FAULT OF VERIZON and still no final resolution. My bill is due in 3 days and I want this resolved now because I don't want to not pay a bill on time because it won't be corrected in time and then my credit rating will fall due to THE FAULT OF VERIZON. I have been working on this problem for OVER TWO WEEKS and TWICE have been told that it was all set and that billing was being told to credit my account, yet STILL NO CREDIT HAS HAPPENED. One rep gave me his email address so that I could follow up with him in case something went wrong with the credit. I have emailed him and GUESS WHAT? NO RESPONSE. I have been a loyal Verizon customer for over 15 years with all bills always PAID ON TIME and THIS IS HOW I GET TREATED?? NOT FAIR. This is so unlike me to write something like this in a forum, but I have had it after receiving THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW TO GET HELP? Is no one at Verizon support HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR VERIZON MISTAKES?? A VERIZON representative listened to what I needed for business travel and they gave me the added feature that they assured me would be what I needed, and apparently it wasn't right. After ANOTHER call I may be on track to resolving this. But WHY did it have to take several calls and chats over a two week period? This is how IMAP works, if you delete from one device it will also be deleted in the other devices.

1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
That should do it.

Not all programs will run on this model?

I am not actually a Macbook Pro owner, or even the owner of a Mac at all, but I am looking to buy one. I recently heard that not all Universal and even some native applications that don't come pre-installed when the computer is purchased cannot be run on the Macbook Pro. My questions are as follows:
A) Is this true?
B) Any estimates on when this problem will be remedied?
C)If the problem is not fixed before I purchase the computer, is it possible to upgrade it later?
Please forgive my computer stupidity, if my questions seem stupid, it is because I am new to Macs and to computers as a whole...

Everything that comes on the computer runs fine - and very very fast.
i) Other Universal apps should be fine - that's the reason they are universal - to run on intel macs.
ii) Pre intel apps (called Power PC apps) run through a "translation" layer called Rosetta. Sometimes this slows them down a bit, but most apps will run pretty well.
MS Office runs in Rosetta. No problems - maybe a bit slow if you had a previous G5. Adobe CS2 runs in Rosetta - mostly trouble free.
In Power PC macs you could still run "Classic (OS 9) apps - This is no longer possible, but these are mostly really old - OSX came out in 2001.
If you have something specfic you want to use, people here can advise - Or you can list what you use on a PC. Apps bundled on the machine and universal apps are fine.
A few small matters are outstanding - e.g. wmv playback, but there are ways of playing wmvs using Rosetta and solutions are imminent.

I opened the saved presentation on a new macbook pro and the images are all distorted. The jpegs are altered and look like they had photo filters applied to them. Some pictures look like infrared photos, color cast and such. I'm running lion on both laptops. the presentation runs fine with no hang ups and the spinning wheel of death.

Don't worry I've sorted it! I just had to turn off Reminders as well in iCloud. Calendar then worked fine, even when I turned Calendar and Reminders back on.

If you connect yourMacBook using a MiniDVI/HDMI adapter you will need to use external speakers for audio since the pre-2010 MacBooks will only send video through the MiniDVI or MiniDisplay Port . The MiniDVI/HDMI doesn't carry audio and there's no audio plugs on the TV to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
If your TV has a DVI input plug you can use a MiniDisplayPort/DVI adapter. Then a DVI cable to the DVI input plug on the TV. The TV will have RCA audio plugs for use with the DVI. Plus DVI gives a sharper image than HDMI.

There are different instructions depending on your OS in the article.
