Can I identify an instance with an attribute?

I hope that question even makes sense - I've been staring at the same problem so long I'm confuzzled completely!
I'm trying to program a mini bank-type scenario, where a customer selects an option from a menu (eg deposit, transfer), then supplies an account number. The menu system is all fine, I've got my methods written for the deposit, and I've created an Account class, which includes an id field. However, I'm completely drawing a blank on how to identify a specific account using that account id - is it even possible?
At the moment, I would create an account:
Account myAccount = new Account(id, balance);
If I then want to deposit funds into that account, I'd use the deposit() on myAccount - so, the id field is either redundant, or I could use it as some kind of verification/password? Hmm.
Apologies if this is a stupid question, I'm pretty new to all this and my brain is totally fuzzled :(

Well, I think that giving numeric IDs to your account is just fine and will serve all your purposes. Why should an extra field like account name be used when the numeric ID can handle everything? Just use a single number for each account. This will keep the program simple without the loss of any functionality.{Remember that names need not be unique, the primary key that is.).
And i am just as much a noob as you are(if not more)
I still dont know if i got the question right and then, if i got the answer right as well.

  • Can we restrict a keyfigure with an attribute?

    Hi All,
       If suppose we have zpaper and zprint chars, with an attributes of A4,A3 paper and Black,colour print. And keyfigures such as Count and cost. And my example report format is like this,
    <b>ID ,  name ,  deptID,     blackcount,     colourcount,     A4count,     A3count,   Blackcost etc</b>..
    And my doubt is, this report is an CSV file,i.e. we are just taking the data from CSV file and loading data into the cube ( which is also a customized cube). And how can we restrict these 2  keyfigures with the attributes (A4,A3, Black,Colour)? Can any one plz give me the soluiton?

  • How can I copy a file with all attributes

    Is there a way within Java to copy a file, with all its file attributes?
    I have seen a number of custom methods posted on these forums for copying the contents of a file to a new file with the same name in another location. The problem is that these methods don't copy the file attributes, particularly the creation date.
    If there is no way to do this in Java, is there a way to have Java execute an operating system command, such as "COPY" or to access the O/S to change the file attributes?
    Thanks for any help you can provide.

    This is how runtime executes a batch file.
    try {
      Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c start c:\\batfile.bat");
      p.waitFor();
    } catch (Exception e) {
        System.out.println(e.toString());

  • Umm. Can anyone identify this glitch with iOS 6.0?

    I Just opened a folder on my home screen and this happened, it was only temporary but i wanna know what went wrong.
    No, I was not moving any apps, if you can't tell.

    Sometimes things like that happen with really no know cause. All y can do is the standard fixes
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Can you identify the problem with my podcast xml?

    I've checked this with the suggested feed checker and all looks good yet my podcasts are not showing up in itunes (well over a week now)
    http://www.hbnradioshow.com/itunes.xml
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    George

    Your feed appears to be OK, and when subscribed to manually in iTunes (from the 'Advanced' menu) all the episodes appear. (However the categories are obsolete: you should choose your categories from those listed here.)
    I couldn't find your podcast in the Store by searching, so as you haven't given its URL I can't check that.
    Several people have complained recently that the Store is being very slow to update new episodes: it usually takes 1-2 days but it's sometimes been a lot more, and I'm afraid that you seem to be stuck in the same problem. There isn't really anything you can do about it as your feed is OK.
    You could try iTunes Support - they often aren't as helpful as one would wish (you are likely to get a form answer telling you to update a podcast, which you already know) but possibly it's worth trying. Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options.

  • How can Highlight a text item with Visual Attributes

    DEAR ALL,
    I have an emp_dept_date block and in that block there are item by the name of to_dates in tabular form there are many dates display when user double click on the current date or any date it show the data of that date in the next block. i want to create a (when button pressed) in my Control Block that when button press the current date color changed automatically so for that what should i wirte in when button pressed.
    Thanks for your cooperation
    Regards,
    Kamran J. Chaudhry

    the is for first item in a block
    Set_Item_Instance_Property('emp_dept_date.to_date', CURRENT_RECORD, VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE,'date');
    this is for second item in a block
    Set_Item_Instance_Property('emp_dept_date.DAILY_ID', CURRENT_RECORD, VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE,'date');
    (emp_dept_date) is block name
    (to_date & daily_id) is an item name
    date is an visual attribute name which we create our self to define a color we want to change for the items we want to.
    these both visual attributes will solve the when we click when button pressed in that change the color of the items in the block you want to change

    Thank youLike everything else, the answer is "it depends".
    What is your background and experience with computers, networks, operating systems, programming languages?
    What are you currently doing?
    What formal and or on the job training have you had?
    As Aman said, build yourself a test system and play with it. You can do this at no cost by ...
    1) download and install VMplayer (vmware.com). It is legally free. For an investment in your career of about US$185, you can buy VMworkstation, which has the same fundamental capability plus some nice management features.
    2) download and install Oracle Enterprise Linux (oracle.com). It is legally free. If you want a support contract, you pay for that.
    3) using (1) and (2) create a virtual linux server
    4) download and install Oracle Enterprise edition database (oracle.com). It is legally free for personal eduction.
    5) install (4) on (3).
    Beyond the above questions I have some boilerplate replies that fit here . . .
    if people want to be professionals in ANY field, the first knowledge they need to acquire is how to locate AND USE+ the fundamental reference materials for that profession. And the most important trait, the one for which they are really hired, is the ability to do independent research, and having a modicum of curiosity that would drive one to do that research. We don't mind helping newbies, and even the most experienced person on this board will run into something they are not familiar with, or occasionally just require a second set of eyes to look at something. But a professional+ needs, above all, a willingness and capability to check the docs. A professional isn't necessarily someone who has all the answers at their fingertips or has a full understanding about every arcane subject in their field. It certainly isn't someone who has an encyclopedia full of memorized answers but little understanding of how it all fits together. It's someone who knows where to find the answers when needed, how to recognize them when he sees them. It's less about knowing than it is about attitude. Everything you asked can be answered in the Oracle Concepts Manual at tahiti.oracle.com. You should bookmark that site.
    =================================================
    Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
    Go to tahiti.oracle.com.
    Drill down to your product and version.
    <b><i><u>BOOKMARK THAT LOCATION</u></i></b>
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library.
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
    Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of information is available there.
    Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
    Do the same with the Utilities manual.
    You don't have to read the above in depth. They are <b><i><u>reference</b></i></u> manuals. Just get familiar with <b><i><u>what</b></i></u> is there to <b><i><u>be</b></i></u> referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
    Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
    - Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
    - Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
    - When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

  • Can Shuttles be based non-base  table ViewObjects with transient attributes

    Hello,
    Users have to select records from a data collection and a Shuttle looks most appropriate/nice for this purpose. We can introduce technical intersection tables in order to generate the Shuttles with JHeadstart 10g R3 if necessary, but there is no “functional” need to update any data in the database and therefore it would be practical if the ‘right’ side from a Shuttle can be based non-base table ViewObjects with transient attributes only. So, our interested is to know which records have been selected, i.e. moved to the right side from the Shuttle.
    Hope that my question is clear enough.
    Greetings,
    Michael

    Michael,
    This cannot be generated out-of-the-box.
    It is easiest to add the shuttle post-generation to your page, and then create a custom template to generate your custom shuttle into the page. I suggest you take a look at an example of a generated shuttle in a page, and the JHeadstart IntersectionShuttleBean class. You will see that the value property of <af:selectManyShuttle> points to the selectedKeys method in the JHeadstart Shuttle bean. In your case, you can create your own managed bean and bind the value property to your own method which will provide you access to the selected rows. The value property of the selectItem within the af:selectManyShuttle determines the property that is used to identify the selected row (which is the row key in case of Jhs-generated shuttles).

    see the file listener.ora. path is usually, $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora
    You will see which listener is associated with which file,
    Details will be usually like this

    A listener is used when a client wants to connect to the database server. If you are logging in directly on the server without using instance name, then you can login even if you stop the service.

  • Can I create a lot of instance with the same name?

    I have, for a project in my studies, to create a map for an adventure game. I must create monsters on this map. For this I use a class that I called Creature. In my class Map i have to initialise the monsters but I
    choose their quantity with Math.random() so I don't know how much the map will contain. If in a loop I do: Creature monster = new Creature(); will I have different instances with the same name(I doubt)? Will I have one monster re-created in each iteration of the loop? How can I do to have different monsters in different places (my map is a matrix 2x2)?

    You would have many Creature references made, but only one variable to hold them, and it would go out of scope outside your loop. You could create a Creature array or use a List (both defined outside your loop) - as
    // array
    int numCreatures = randomGeneratedCreatureQuantity();
    Creature[] monsters = new Creature[numCreatures];
    for (int j = 0; j < numCreatures; j++) {
        monsters[j] = new Creature();
    // Or a list
    int numCreatures = randomGeneratedCreatureQuantity();
    ArrayList monsters = new ArrayList();
    for (int j = 0; j < numCreatures; j++) {
        monsters.add(new Creature());
    }Good luck

  • Can DPM share a remote SQL Instance with other System Centre Products?

    Firstly, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I can't seem to find a definitive line on it.
    I am about to install and start implementing DPM 2012 R2 and have restricted access to SQL instances and the creation of. Can DPM share a SQL instance? Mainly can it share an instance shared with other System Centre products?
    Does it really need a dedicated DB engine and Reporting services instance?

    Hi,
    No, Each DPM server requires it's own dedicated instance name.  You can have a single remote SQL server, but with seperate instances for each DPM server, or other System Center products.
    Make sure that names of your instances does not contains an underscore in the instance name.

    First, start your own thread instead of resurrecting a five month old one.
    Second, you cannot track your iPhone via iMEI or Serial Number.  Only if you had enabled Find My iPhone on your device before it was lost can you track it.

    Third possibility can be that the Status is Waiting... And Resource is dependent on another Resource...
    Are you able to Direct Provision the account? I mean without raising Request Based provisioning?
    Please give us following details:
    (1) Resource Profile:-status of Auto Save
    (2) Approval Process:- status of Auto Save and Auto Pre-Pop
    (3) Prov Process:-status of Auto Save and Auto Pre-Pop.
    (4) Is the object form properly populated?
    (5) Is the Process form properly populated?
    (6) Any Exception occurred during Approval process?
    (6) In the OIM Database, fire the following query:-
    SELECT OIU.ORC_KEY
    FROM OIU, USR, OBI
    WHERE OIU.USR_KEY=USR.USR_KEY
    AND UPPER(USR.USR_LOGIN)=UPPER('ABCDEFGH_USER')
    AND OBI.OBI_KEY=OIU.OBI_KEY
    AND OBI.OBI_KEY IN (SELECT OBI.OBI_KEY FROM OBI,OBJ WHERE OBI.OBJ_KEY=OBJ.OBJ_KEY AND
    UPPER(OBJ.OBJ_NAME)=UPPER('AD USER'))
    This will show whether any proper ORC_KEY was generated for this resource instance..
