Can I parse non-wellformed XML with SAX at all?

Hi all,
i was wondering whether its possible at all to parse XML that is not well formed with SAX.
e.g. A HTML file that doesnt close tags and stuff like that.
I tried implementing the fatal() method of the Handler in a a way that it consumes the exception but does not rethrow it.
Also I tried setting the validation property to false. Both with no success.
Any help would be appriciated.

Your experiments tell you the answer.
If you have HTML tag soup, why not just run it through JTidy or HTMLTidy to make it into well-formed XHTML?

Using XMLAgg with non-wellformed XML fragments

Hi,
with XMLAgg one can create a non-wellformed XML-Fragement ( i.e. with multiple root elements ) like
<foo>bar1</foo>
<foo>bar2</foo>
where each foo element comes from a table row ( e.g. from a single-column table with the rows 'bar1' and 'bar2' ).
However, I wasn't able to get a similar result when creating multiple elements per row. I defined a function that returns a non-wellformed fragment like
<foo>bar1</foo>
<oof>bar1</oof>
per row, but I couldn't aggregate these fragments using XMLAgg. The result should look like ( 2 elements per row )
<foo>bar1</foo>
<oof>bar1</oof>
<foo>bar2</foo>
<oof>bar2</oof>
Instead, i got an "LPX-00245: extra data after end of document" error ( whole error see below ).
I wonder why it is possible to create non-wellformed fragments with XMLAgg, but why there seems to be impossible to aggregate them.

Can you access non-Oracle database with HTML DB?

Can you access non-Oracle database with HTML DB? If not, will this be possible in the future?
I realize HTML DB is not an open-source product. However, it is necessary sometimes to get non-Oracle database info. JDeveloper supports this. It does not appear to me that HTML DB does. This is a major drawback to it being a product for more potential applications that rely on other database technology such as MySQL, etc.
If it is possible, is this brain surgery to do it. HTML DB offers fast simplified development and it would be good if it was built in. Does anyone know of an example of accessing non-Oracle database that is available?

In general, HTML DB gives you access to Oracle database facilities. These include heterogeneous services. Please search this forum for keyword "heterogeneous" and you can follow the threads that interest you.
As for the comparison with brain surgery, I'd rank them about the same in terms of raw thrill.

Yes you can. I use Sennheiser PX100's and they work just fine.
Plug the headphones into the remote rather than the iPod to get the best reception.

Can anyone help; re: Faxing problems with my 6200 all in one

Our HP office jet 6210 which we use only for faxing and minor printing intermittenly goes crazy with blinking red and amber lights
when a fax is being received or when we are sending one. When the fax fails and we stop the blinking lights, it self tests then turns off. Sometimes when it does this we get an error message printed that says "Power Failure." The party being faxed gets 1/2 a fax or 1 page out of 5. I'll unplug it from the electric and plug it back in and then it will work fine for a day or two. We have tried faxing from the glass when we have problems and that seems to work when self-feed faing doesn't. We have not installed any drivers as this is not plugged into a computer but stands alone with it's own designated phone line.
Any ideas??? The machine is 5 years old and has never given us any trouble until now. Is it time to upgrade?

I have a new photosmart plus printer B209a CD035A and I have never been able to set up the fax, I get a message saying that the phone line is not connected to the modem, the phone is connected to my modem or I would not have an internet connection, perhaps I am not understanding it, I have the printer set up wireless now but it was wired before and I still could not set it up, I purchased it in April this year along with my new desktop Elite HPE-150f model AY603AA, using windows7 64 bit, now I have a problem with the alignment, all the fonts are cut off down each side which makes it hard to read instructions, can someone give me some help with this. I am using the SQL SERVER 2008R2 standard edition so please be mindful when posting any suggestion if that will work on this edition or not.
Here is the situation: I have Cube with one fact table "Positions". Measure I am querying is "AUM" and Dimensions across user can query are combinations of {"Portfolio", "Security" and "Time"}.
I am receiving the "AUM" values at "portfolio+Security+Time" level. AUM is actually the Portfolio level value. so sample data I receive would like this.

So, as shown in above example , we received same "AUM" value for a given portfolio and time. (regardless of what security value is).
And as AUM is the snapshot values, we can not sum across time as well, so if user is looking across time we need to pick Last values.
Now when user wants to view this data from cube, two different ways s/he wants to look at it.
option one: AUM at port+sec+time level. that is same as shown above in example.
option two: AUM at portfolio level only, (notice that this is across time so results are picking values for time=JAN-2)

I have applied the "LastChild" aggregation property to measure to achieve "Do no Sum across Time "behavior. but with this I also get "SUM Across Except time" and hence my AUM values get summed across Portfolio and security as
well. I have also enable Time Intelligence to enable MTD, YTD calculations.
I tried to add SCOPE statement for Security before and after the "time calculations" yet I am not able to achieve expected behavior.
here is the calculated member definition, and scope statement i have tried.

0) why my Security Scope Statement are not showing any effect, and can we do something about it?
1) Can be change "SUM" behavior to "MAX" / "MIN" across all Dimension except time.
2) Is there a way to implement "LastChild" across all dimension instead only across Time.
3) Should I need to make any changes at Fact table level to achieve this ? I refer one Q&A in this forum that suggested to create such measure in different measure group but it doesn't have any clarification.

you will have to enable cache in your nqsconfig.ini file under the section

cache seeding is also a mechanism through which the data would be updated in the cache.

</Database>I have been trying for ages and just can't get the content handler class to extract a gameID and instantiate a Game to add to my ArrayList! How do I extract the information from my file?
I have tried so many things in the startElement() method that I can't actually remember what I've tried and what I haven't! If you need to know, the Game class instantiates with asnew Game(int gameID)and the rest of the variables are public.

Possible to overwrite parse method in DOM with SAX Handler?

Is it possible to overwrite the parse method within DOM?
What a want to do is:

               SAXParser parser = factory.newSAXParser();

          return (Node)handler.getRoot();
     } //end parseXml()The reason I want to use this is that within SAX I can write my own line counter so I keep a count of which node is on which line of text.
What I was thinking is that I could use SAX to return DOM Nodes with the line number attached, possibly using the node.setUserData() method?!
I have tried to play around with it and it doen't seem to work, can anyone help?

I have managaed to re-write my SAX parser to create a JTree, this works perfectly I can move through the tree and each line of text that corresponds to the node is highlighted.
My problem is however that in my application I have used the DOM structure throughout so some of the functionality is lost.
Is I understand that JAXP uses both SAX and DOM together, so I was wondering if it is possible to combine my sax parse method within the DOM?
If anything is unclear please say and I will try and explain better. The main reason for doing this is that I want to keep a reference to which line of text each node of the dom tree represents. I have not been able to implemnet one in DOM however using SAX I have managed.

Can't use non apple mouse with hard drive test?

Having trouble reading an installation CD for a new scanner. Laptop with Tiger fine. Not iMac. So, was trying to run Hardware Test. Inserted disk, restarted with option key down. Image comes up. Can't select anything because Macally mouse won't work in harddrive test mode. Mouse plugged into port on back of computer, not in keyboard. Do I have to find the original apple mouse?

It should work, I have a non-Apple mouse that I use for that and it works just fine. Perhaps Macally mouses require special software to run, maybe you should check their web site. I know my Wacom, what I usually use, is completely dead until my login window opens.
So, yeah, I think you need to find the original Apple one.

Can I browse non-local disk with a JFileChooser?

Is there any possibility to browse files on other computers with a JFileChooser? Neither API doc nor tutorial say a word about reading from non-local disk.

Only if those non-local disks are mounted to the PC you are using. I'm not aware that Java can actually mount it for you. So either it's a shared or mapped drive in Windows or a mounted drive in Unix. It can't use http because the HTTP protocol doesn't really allow for file browsing, per se. Web servers can serve a directory listing for directories if it's enabled on the server and no default file is in the given directory, but that isn't so much used anymore.

How to parse data from XML with prefix?

Output non-indented XML with XMLDocument.print()

Hi,
Using Oracle XML Parser 2 i am dynamically contructing a XMLDocument via calls to createElement() and createTextNode().
See the code below for an example.
When Xml_doc.print(System.out) is called an indented XML document is printed out to the console.
Is there anyway to get a version which is not indented or beautified i.e there is not whitespace between elements.
I thought that XMLOutputStream.setOutputStyle(COMPACT) might work - but am not sure how to use it.

Generate XML with SAX (OutputFormat/XMLSerializer deprecated)

I'm working on a project using an old code, written by don't-know-who, which generates XML code from data obtained at the moment, at run-time, and then returns it as a String.
Recently, my project included a new version (2.9) of the xercesImpl.jar library, and now classes OutputFormat and XMLSerializer have become deprecated.
I'd like to update the old code. Do you know how to modify my code in order to do exactly the same things with a "new" approach which is not deprecated?
I tried to search in the net and I found this FAQ <http://xerces.apache.org/xerces2-j/faq-general.html#faq-6>, but I didn't understand at all how to convert my code. :(
