Can I programmatically change printer paper size from ActionScript?

Hi,
I'm a newbie Flash/ActionSript developer and I have been searching for answers for a while with no luck. I wonder if I can get some pointers from this forum.
I'm trying to programmatically print a movie clip to 8.5" x 11" plain paper regardless of the current paper size setting in the printer. e.g if the user's printer is currently set to use paper size A4, can I change the setting to Letter (8.5" x 11") from ActionScript at runtime? I use PrintJob class for printing the movieclip.
According to the ActionScript online API spec ( http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/flash/9.0/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context =LiveDocs_Parts&file=00002066.html), I can only READ the paper size setting after the call to PrintJob.start. I can't believe that we are not allowed to change the setting. Maybe I missed something here. Can somebody help me out?

Safari won't let me change printer paper size

I am having a bizarre problem printing USPS labels from Safari. For some reason it shows my paper size as 13x19 in the printer dialog and there is no way I can change this (I tried in the printer driver and through System preferences and the changes would not "take"). I have three HP printers and only one of them can print 13x19 paper. I tried changing the default paper size on all three printer drivers but they all will only show 13x19, so if I try to print a 8x11 document on any of the printers, it won't print scaled normally to 8x11 paper - instead I get large font prints that are cut off. I tried different "scale to fit" settings in the drivers and nothing worked.
Finally, I switched to Firefox and it worked perfectly!
Interestingly, when I try printing a normal webpage from Safari, it WILL print on 8x11, but not a USPS label!
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Safari won't let me customize a new computer on the Apple store website.
Try emptying your Safari cache. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
If that doesn't help, go to the menu bar again, click Safari > Reset Safari
Select the top 5 boxes, click Reset.
Quit then relaunch Safari, try the Apple Store http://store.apple.com/us
If you have installed any extensions, back to the menu bar, click Safari > Prefereces then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that OFF, quit then relaunch Safari to test the store.
And make sure Java is enabled in Safari > Preferences - Security

Change default paper size on Preview when printing

When I open the print window on Preview (ver 7.0) to print a .pdf file, the default paper size is always A4, which I never use; I use US Letter instead. Is there a way to change the default paper size to US Letter so I don't have to change it every time I print or forget completely? I tried looking under Preview preferences, but no luck.
I use my MBP in the Japanese language (in Japan they use A4 as main paper size), but I live in the US. Is this the cause of this problem?

Having the region set to Japan will have set the default to A4 but you can change it by opening Printers & Scanners and changing the setting "Default Paper Size" from A4 to US Letter.

I can't change copy paper size in HP M125a

I bought a HP M125a printer (Print, Copy, Scan) but I have a problem with copying A4 Pages.
When I put my A4 paper in scanner to copy it, The laser of my printer just scan from beginning to LTR (Letter) position results 2CM in bottom of my main A4 paper not copied.
Notice: When I scanning a picture to cumputer I don't have this problem and al of my picture scanned, But in copy not.
I think I must change paper size in copy or print settings. I set all of paper sizes in "Control Panel --> Devices and Printers" to A4 but my problem not solved.

Hi,
From the Start menu open the printer folder and open the HP device toolbox.
From the “System” tab select Copy settings and change the Paper Size to A4, then click Apply and confirm the changes.

Just upgraded to Win 8.1: PSE 11 now will not let me change the paper size and type in the print properties.

I have just upgraded to windows 8.1 but my photoshop elements 11 now will not let me change the paper size and type in the print properties. Also some of the property popup boxes just flash on the screen but do not stay displayed!

Change default paper size to A4 Two Sided Margins

My default paper size (System Preferences > Printers & Scanners) is currently set to A4.
However, I think this is giving me problems when I try to print duplex (HP Photosmart 5520). If I select two-sided printing in the print dialog (from any application) I get an error saying that the margins have to be adjusted.
I think this is preventing me from setting two-sided as the default, or even including it in presets. If I try to include it in a preset, next time I select the preset, two sided printing remains off.
How can I change my default paper size to "A4, Two Sided Margins"? There is an option in the print dialog to change it (only for that current print job) but this particular paper size/margins is not available in System Preferences where you select the default paper size.
Is there something I can install to make this option show up in System Preferences? Can I make a custom paper size for it?

The default paper size on the printer is A4 and this works fine on all other print originating software. But from Firefox it defaults to A3. I can and do change it each time I print, but that means going into properties and changing both paper size and layout. There must (surely!) be a default paper size setting in Firefox. Indeed, the fact that Firefox alone defaults to A3 indicates that there is such a Firefox default. Any offers?

Paper sizes from one install to another

I have Acrobat pro 9 on one laptop. I just got a second laptop with Acrobat x. Acrobat x only has a handful of paper sizes. I'd like to have the same paper sizes from one install to another. Is there a file that can be copied over to have this information?
I'm using oversize paper with AutoCad. One the Acrobat 9 I was using the adobe pdf system printer just fine.
Would like to continue with the Acrobat x laptop the same way.
Any help would be appreciated.

thought i would hit this again to see if anyone has any ideas. I hate it that i forgot to capture my playlists from the old installation of itunes before i installed windows on another drive and used the old drive as an extended drive. The old install of iTunes is on the old drive and accessible. I just need to know if there is any way to extract playlists from old installation.

C5280 printer paper size error

It wont let me change the paper size in the features section. I want to custom size the paper and it wont let me hit ok after putting in the size I need. It says the custom paper size that you have defined will not become available until you have exited and re entered the printing preferences/properities Im not sure what this means.

I can't get anything to save. I exit and return, and the custom paper size I set up won't show up. I hate this printer and will never buy another hp.

So are your text box set to floating? You can tell that by looking in the Inspector>Wrap Tab when you select the text box.
If I had to guess I would say that the text boxes are floating and when you change the size of paper the text that you have in the main body area is shrinking so that it does require as many pages and you are losing the text boxes at the end. Is that correct? If so, they are still there, you just have to add page breaks to get to the pages that you lost and you should see them again.

You can copy & paste the address from the letter into a document formatted to envelope size. I prefer to use the EasyEnvelopes widget. If you have copied an address to the clipboard, it will automatically be added to the widget.

I have recently bought an HP Colourlaserjet CP1215 printer and would like to print on custom sized card of 280 x 140 mm to make a greeting card 14 cm x 14 cm, which I believe falls under the custom size options.of (127 - 356) mm (3 - 8.5) x (5 - 14) inches) The design either prints at the bottom right ofthe page or not at all. How can I programmatically change a label?

Hi everyone,
I have a 2-D array that I wish to populate with different sorts of data. Depending upon the data, the names of the rows and columns may change. Arrays have to have identical labels and I suppose I could simply populate a string indicator, but frankly, that looks like trash.
How can I programmatically change a label of a column or a row in a 2-D array? Should I consider using a table? I want it to look nice.

I do not think you are able to change the label programatically.
But you might consider to use Captions instead of labels. You can hide labels and make captions visible programatically, and you can change the text of the caption and size (see enclosed vi).
