Can I put javascipt in a Java program?

Can I?

yes, you can put it into a Java program as string literals. But don't expect it to do anything.
Something like
String jsString = "<script type='text/javascript'>function ohNoNotAgain(arg) { arg.innerHtml = '<b>there we go again!</b>;}</script>";
System.out.println(jsString);for example will work just fine...

    Hi,
    You use Runtime.exec to execute commands / exe-files. See the documentation (and remember that it will only work on windows):

  • Can't pass params in xsql java program

    I tried xsql java program in the xml dev guide.
    It seems that the program failed to recognize the params.
    Here is my code:
         Hashtable params = new Hashtable (3);
         params.put("docid", "801");
         params.put("orderby", "citeid");
         params.put("xml-stylsheet", "none");
         req.process(params, new PrintWriter(System.out), new PrintWriter(System.err));
    I used the command line to run the xsql page with 2 params above, and it works fine.
    Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
    thanks,

    Ignore this post. Seems one package was in an 8.1.5 calling the xmldom packages in an 8.1.6 database. Problem fixed by moving calling package to the same database.

    What about "start command.com /C execute.bat", or using the overload that takes a String[] as argument?
    What if you use the the full path of execute.bat?
    What error code do you get?
    And what comes th linux, I'm not sure... you'll need a shell interpreter there too, me thinks. (never had to run anything with runtime.exec on linux). Check the man pages if csh, bash, ksh, or what ever shell you like.

  • How Can we stop the execution of java program which contain infinite loop

    Dear All,
    I create one .bat file which which execute the simple java program
    I write one java program which execute above .bat file using instance of Runtime Class of java
    It's work fine if java program which is executed by .bat file is simple(Which has normal termination)
    But if that program contain inifinte loop then that file will goes on executing untill I close it manually
    So i want a solution in java which close that bat file (command window ) which is in running condtion
    If there any solution please replay me
    I try to close that .bat file using destroy() ,stop() method of Process and Runtime , Thread Class
    but it did not give me correct output
    .bat file still running !!!!!!!!!
    Thanks in advance

    Why not use javaw.exe to make the app run so you don't need the dos window (which is presumably what you are actually talking about when you say bat file).

    Closest you could get to this I think is to explode all your jars into the same parent directory. Then if you put that directory on the classpath, you should be able to access all classes in all jar files

    maybe this is what you mean.
    add this inside your actionPerformed method for the reset action
    squareButton.setSelected(true);
    colorComboBox.setSelectedIndex(0);
    if not be more clear in your post.

  • Eclipse can connect in database perspective, but Java program can't

    I am totally new to JAVA, so I expect I am making a prize goof somewhere...
    On my Macbook Pro (OS X 10.5) I have installed MySql and Eclipse and I have created a database with a number of tables populated with data (using phpmyadmin).
    I seem to have the drivers in the right places and the classpath set correctly, because I can see my database, tables and columns in the "database perspective" in Eclipse. (I can see and manipulate my database in a variety of admin tools - so I think I have my user id, password and permissions set correctly.)
    So, Eclipse can connect to my data base, but the following little Java test program can't can't connect to it.
    I copied this sample test program from a website and supplied the parameters for user id, password and url, but I get the console message, "cannot connect to database server" each time i run it within the Eclipse sdk:
    import java.sql.*;*
    public class connect
    public static void main (String[] args)
    Connection conn = null;
    try
    String userName = "root";
    String password = "mypassword";
    String url = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/testdatabase";
    Class.forName ("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance ();
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection (url, userName, password);
    System.out.println ("Database connection established");
    catch (Exception e)
    System.err.println ("Cannot connect to database server");
    finally
    if (conn != null)
    try
    conn.close ();
    System.out.println ("Database connection terminated");
    *catch (Exception e) { /* ignore close errors */ }
    Any Ideas why eclipse can connect, but this little program can't?

    Almost nothing uses the system classpath anymore. IDE's, when they execute and compile projects, setup "custom" environments for those projects, web containers and application servers do the same for the applications they are responsible for, applets use the "codebase" and "archive" params, when you use the "-cp" option, the System classpath is also ignored, and when you use "-jar" both "-cp" and the system classpath are ignored. IOW, never depend on the system classpath. That is an outdated way of managing your environments, especially when you have applications running on varying versions of the JVM.

    I might be doing some programming for my company soon
    which will require a program to monitor a database
    and whenever there is a change to certain fields, it
    must copy certain fields into another database. When I see "whenever thiere is a change to certain fields" I tend to think "triggers" - but maybe this won't work for you 'cause of the "another database" part. And the fact that triggers are inherently evil.
    [snip]
    Is it possible to run a Java program as a windows
    service? And if so then how would you go about it? I'd hit Google - there're a couple ways to do this.
    [snip]
    Also,...if I were to use one of those programs which
    can make an .exe of a Java program, then do you still
    require the JRE to be on the machine? It depends on how you did the conversion. If you compile to native then no, if you just wrap up a JRE then yes.
    Why I ask is
    that I occasionally get asked to do small development
    projects for my company, but we are a microsoft
    partner and therefore do all the development in C#
    and the like. So I would like to just implement as
    many things in Java as I can, just to show everyone
    that Java can do exactly what C# can do. But its
    difficult to convince people of this since I always
    require the JRE and they dont. Of course, they require the .NET framework and you don't. And last I looked that thing was around 23 Meg.

  • Using a java program to fill in forms using information from a spreadsheet

    I had an idea to "automate" some data entry at work and need to know if my idea is feasible with Java. Here is the back story:
    I work on a research project and we have all of our contact data in an Excel spreadsheet (I know access may be better for this but for "political reasons" I just set it up in Excel). Every day we need to pay participants and this is done through a third party website. When the participant is new to this website we need to fill in all their personal information via a form on the webpage. Since we already have all their information stored in a spreadsheet, I was thinking we could create a little program that pulls the data from the excel sheet and inserts it into the form fields.
    Can this be done with a simple java program?
    Thank you for any help!

    peroija wrote:

    Can this be done with a java program?Yes. You could certainly have your page upload the spreadsheet to your server, and you could certainly have your server program attempt to extract the data from Excel using Apache POI or JExcel or something like that. But you have to be prepared for people to upload the wrong file, or the right file in which the users have chosen unusual date formats, and so on. You could make things easier by distributing a spreadsheet which is locked down so that the users can only enter the information in specific places and specific formats, but it looks like you have missed that opportunity too.
