Can I sync my Google calendar and my Ipad calendar

Hi I am a recent convert to Android Phones after years of using Apple products exclusively. I am sorry if this topic has discussed before but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how to Sync the two calendars or if it is even possible .

Can Icloud sync with google calendar and gmail?

We use google calendar at my office and share it with our staff. I thought we would be able to sync those calendars with icloud and google. Before icloud, I set up an exchange account on Ipad, iphone, imac and it works well for calendar and email. I thought I could replace that sync with icloud, but it seems to not be designed that way. Should google calendar and gmail users stick with google?

You don't exactly say how to make this happen, but you gave me enough nuggets to put it together. Thank you for responding and helping me put it all together.
I have 5 Google calendars (Family, Work, Church, Extended Family Birthdays, US Holidays). My wife, two different assistants and I all share and update the calendars. I want all this to continue since it affects every aspect of my life. I sit at a PC at work and need to be able to view all those calendars during the work week, I also need to be able to view and edit from work (pc), iPhone, wife's iPhone, assistants computers, and our home (mac). So, staying Google - for now, is what I need.
I just upgraded to the 4S and Siri is one of the main reasons. Without iCloud syncing with my calendars Siri is USELESS with calendaring stuff. So, I have to have Siri able to view my calendars as well.
So, with that info, here's how I got it all to work.
For those of you who need a start to finish explanation, here it is:
1. Computer running the OS Lion (mine's an iMac)
2. Open iCal on the Mac
3. Open your Google Calendar
4. In iCal go to iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts.
Make sure iCloud is listed under Accounts. This was my default, so I didn't have to make any changes. If yours lists something different, sorry. I don't know how to change it. But I believe this is a KEY component as ithos above mentions that the subscription be 'located' on iCloud.
5. In iCal go to Calendar --> Subscribe
This will force a pop up asking you for the URL of the calendar you are trying to subscribe to.
Where do you find this URL? I found this article from 2006 that gives the low down:

Don't worry, even though it's from 2006 it still works. Here are the steps in a nutshell, but you should read the short article so you don't miss anything.
6. In Google Calendar you need to dig into EACH calendar that you want to 'Subscribe to' and find the unique URL for that calendar. This will allow you to then force iCal to look at and scrape the data from this calendar as often as every 5 minutes. As you follow the articles steps (they are very easy) then your iCal calendar will populate with the Google calendar data from the calendar you subscribed to. I had to do this for EACH calendar I wanted to show up on my iCal calendar.
7. I then grabbed my iPhone and asked Siri, "What does my day look like tomorrow?" She responded with all my iCal / iCloud (which are all subscribed to my Google calendars) calendar data. I smiled
This ONLY allows the Google info to be pushed to iCal / iCloud. It doesn't allow the info to go the other way.
It won't let Siri manipulate the iCal/iCloud calendar or the Google calendar. But at least Siri can see what's already there. So, a step in the right direction.

To set up Google Calendar in iCal on Lion: Open iCal > Preferences > Accounts, and click the plus button to set up a new account. The pop-up dialog has a drop-down, choose Google. Type in your Google username and password and click Create.

I can't sync my google calendar to my iMac running Yosemite

I have been trying to setup my google calendar account in my 27" iMac (late 2013) running Yosemite but so far has been unsuccessful. I tried to setup the Google account in SystemPreference/Internet Accounts. I can get the Mail to work but when I checked the Calendar, it will pinwheeled for awhile and pop up an error message saying " There's an error setting the Calendar account".
Anyone can help?

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Can Exchange syncing of Google Calendar sync farther back than 9 months?

When I set up the iPad to sync using exchange, I expected that all calendar data would be sync'ed. There is a sync preference that allows the user to choose Events 2 Weeks Back, 1 Month Back, etc., and I have chosen All Events. However, when I look at the iPad calendar, some events farther back than about 9 months are not sync'ed.
The google calendar is identical to my iCal (I use busysync to keep them synced), and both have events going back about 6 years.

Accessing a Google account as an Exchange account with the iPad's Mail application is still relatively new and still a BETA I believe. Most new things that Google introduces remains a BETA for an indefinite period of time.
If no change after deleting and recreating the account on your iPad, I suggest contacting Google technical support to report this problem.

Can't sync with Google Calendar - exclamation point beside cal name

I am trying to sync iCal with Google Calendar using this recipe:

However, once I have entered my Google calendar info, I only get an exclamation point beside the calendar name of the calendar I just created.
I get no error message, nothing, just an exclamation point.
Any idea what's wrong?

Just tried creating a brand new Google-account, but I get the same error when I try to sync it with iCal ...

Can I sync an ipod touch and an ipad separately to the same laptop

I have an ipod touch and an ipad. Can I sync them to my computer so that each remains independant of the other. When I first attached the ipad to my computer the option to start as a new ipad or sync from my ipod's content were available. I did neither and just ejected the ipad. I guess my question is: if I choose to start as a new ipad will it wipe out the data from my ipod touch or will it create a new backup?

I have three iDevices that I sync to one iTunes library and each device has its own unique content.
If you are Windows - launch iTunes and go to Edit>Prefernces>Devices. Check the box at the bottom that says - Prevent iPods, iPhones, etc. ... From syncing automatically, click ok. Quit iTunes.
Connect either of your devices to your computer and launch iTunes again. Click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading, now go into each and every tab of iTunes and select the content that you want to sync to that particular device. When you are done, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. iTunes will remember what you selected for that device the next time that you sync,
Eject your device, connect the other one and do the same thing. If you want -- turn auto sync back on using the procedure outlined above.

How can I sync multiple google calendars (one 1 account)?

I am wondering if it is possible to sync multiple calendars from my google account to my iCal account. I had one calendar that I sync to iCal and today I added another calendar for my work schedule to google and iCal hasn't pulled it up. Please advise.

Can I sync my iCal calendar to my husband's Google Calendar?

I have read many discussions about this here and on other forums, but can't find an answer that works for what I'm trying to do.
I use iMac, iPhone and iPad and keep track of our family's many activities on 3 iCal calendars (so I can use the different colors to track what each kid is doing.) I would like my husband to be able to view and modify these calendars. He is on an Android device, uses Google Mail and a PC.
I can easily sync his Google calendar to my iCal using advice from this Google forum (http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=151674). I cannot figure out how he can sync my calendar to his Google calendar.
I have exported my iCal calendar and he has imported it into Google calendar just fine, but it is a static picture of the calendar when I export it so doesn't really help keep him up to date.
I have shared the calendar per the link by Roger Wilmut1 (link: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a9479) on this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4599543?start=0&tstart=0. However iCloud is requesting an iCloud account from him to "Join" the calendar in Google calendars.
If he set up an iCloud account (how?? I don't know) could he then access my iCal and sync it into his Google calendar?
I'm trying to figure out if I should just give up on iCal and switch to a Google calendar. It is working so nicely right now with my iPhone and iPad I would love to just keep using iCal if possible. I've been using iCloud since it's inception as "mac.com" or whatever it was called. I've been able to Sync Outlook Exchange Calenars to my iMac, iPhone and iPad. However, I cannot get iCal (when viewed in iCloud) to display Exchange or Google Calender items.
It's odd, all other Mac versions of iCal are happy e.g. iMac, MacBook Air, iPad Air, iPhone etc. But nothing when I login to icloud.com and look at the iCal there.

Downloaded (free) CalenMob app to sync to google calendar, and it only shows my calendar entries but not the entries of my coworkers I share the calendar with. How do I sync to google calendar so I can see the entries of people I share my calendar with?

I downloaded the free CalenMob app to sync phone with shared google calednar at work, but I can only see the calendar entries of some of my coworkers but not all - even though all of our calendars are shared. Is CalenMob the best app to use for syncing to google calendar? Do I need to enter the coworkers' gmail account info onto my phone in order for their calendar entries to show up on my phone calendar?

Only when i go to a different browser (like IE) after i clear it , then all that shows up is the pages i visited in IE , that is what bugs me , why is IE browsing history sowing up in Firefox ??
Basically , i can clear the history in Firefox , and then for a example , go to Craigslist , using IE7 (launching it from a complete different Icon , in other words at that time i never open Firefox) , then after closing out , or even leaving open as it does not seem to matter , i go into Firefox , and hit History , and there is every place i visited in IE7 , on my History in Firefox

The calendars reside on different servers and as far as I know there isn't a way to sync between them. You can, of course, add your Google calendar to your devices and continue to use Google to keep it in sync. If you open the Calendars app on your devices and tap Calendars on the top left, then tap Show All Calendars, your Google and iCloud calendar events will appear together your calendar. You will only need to decide which one you wish to use as your default when adding new enteries, then set this in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar.

I have been happily using my iPhone synced with my Macbook over usb via iTunes.
I have contacts and iCal syncing. I have a number of 'calendars' set up in iCal which allow me to view separate aspects of home and work but they all exist within iCal. iPhone just treats these as colour coded appointments (different colour for each ical calendar)
I really like this set up.
However, I just changed jobs to a firm where they have a hosted outlook exchange set up and I need to use the exchange calendar for work appointments and showing my availability.
I have managed to setup my iPhone to work with the Exchange server for email as well as in apple Mail on my mac. This has all worked fine. However, I hesitated when iPhone asked if i wanted to sync my contacts and calendar. I said no as I was unsure if my private calendar/contacts would be uploaded to the public work area.
In fact it seems that this is the least of my worries:
As I have read on apple support for iPhone:
"Note that after configuring an Exchange ActiveSync account, all existing contact and calendar information on the iPhone or iPod touch is overwritten. Additionally, iTunes no longer syncs contacts and calendars with your desktop computer. You can still sync your iPhone or iPod touch wirelessly with MobileMe services."
So I am really pleased that I didn't let it sync those and wipe out my personal data if that is really true.
But now I am unsure how best to enable myself to view and update the work calendar on exchange.
Also it would be nice to see work contacts on my iPhone.
Contacts
- although i have said no to sync contacts with Exchange in fact it looks like I can get contacts ok - when i send email from the Exchange account on the phone , it searches Exchange contacts on the server as i type in the TO box.
- also in Contacts on the iPhone I have a new group that has been created with the name of my Exchange account. The group appears to be blank when you go into it on the phone, but you can type in the search box and get contact details from the server just fine.
This seems workable for now for my purposes, although updating contacts is not going to be possible that way.
I'd like more info on that if poss but more importantly..
Calendar
- Unlike Contacts, no Calendar has been auto created for Exchange
- Unlike contacts, I can't see how I can view or search or create an appointment in my Exchange calendar on the iPhone
What is the best solution to this problem - I presume lots of people face the same dilemma. My initial research suggests that there are multiple ways round this but all of them look like workarounds with various disavantages.
Questions are
- Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
- Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
- What is the best work around for this?
At the moment I am seriously considering getting a separate iPhone for work and have that sync with Exchange fully although that seems a bit drastic and does not solve the problem of seeing work and home appointments on the same calendar.

Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.

No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.

None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.
