Can I use touch ID for App Store without using a passcode?

It seems that the ony way I can use the touch ID for App Store and iTunes is if I have a passcode to get into my phone. I don't want a passcode, it get in and out of my phone too often to have to unlock it all the time and I hate manually typing in my password for App I buy. Why can't it do both, isn't the touch ID just as secure for purchases even if you don't have to unlock the phone to get to it??

you should be able to use Touch ID without needing your passcode. If none of those circumstances is true and you're still being asked for your passcode to make a purchase from the iTunes Store, it would seem that something is amiss with your iPhone.

i think it could be since amazon appstore has amazon coins that do the same:

iTunes and App Store gift cards are basically the same thing, both are redeemed onto your iTunes account and can be used to buy from the iTunes store, app store, Mac app store on Mac computers and the iBookstore - the cards that you shouldn't buy are Apple Store gift cards, they cannot be used with an iTunes account.
When you've redeemed it onto your account then your balance should show in both the iTunes and App Store apps on your iPad, and your computer's iTunes. On my iPad it shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id and at the bottom of the Music tab in the iTunes store app (or you can view your account via Settings > iTunes & App Store and it should show on the screen that you are taken to). IPod Touch, 1st generation, can't use iTunes or the App Store

I have an iPod Touch running iOS 3.1.3. All of a sudden, I can no longer buy music off iTunes or apps off the App Store because the "Install" or "Buy" buttons shrink to a very small size (see attached screenshot) and do not respond when pressed. I have re-booted the iPod twice with no affect.

Can't use Quicktime, Mail or App Store after HD clone

I managed to save my data after my HD became corrupted after frequent kernal panics. I took out the drive and managed to get it to mount on another computer before using Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer my data to another drive. Now, after formatting and restoring my data back to the drive, I am unable to open Quicktime, Mail or the App Store. I have tried opening the actual file from the Applications folder, but still no success.
Mail: Unexpectedly quits when starting
App Store: Starts but hangs when loading any information
Quicktime: Won't start at all
I'm testing other software, but if anyone has had this experience or has suggestions, please let me know. Thank you for your time.

Benji, I did get the email server error message again last night around 8PM, but again the email does eventually go. Wondering if the 6PM to 9PM time frame is a busy time for Yahoo email servers and somehow our iTouch or portable devices take a lower priority? I seem to get the error only once a day now around that time, then everything seems fine again...could be a server issue.
Still looking for a pattern with the blank white web pages when I try and view a previous web page. Seems to happen most when I look at the "iPod touch User Guide" (on the included bookmarks)...most of the other times the previous web page loads fine so....humm....
I also had an issue with the Camera app today, the red light button and Picture/Video switch were staying dimmed...finally turned off the iTouch (holding down the Home button then pressing the Sleep/Off button on top) then turned it back on, so the iOS could reboot. That fixed the Camera app. Might want to try that too....seems like it might be a fix for a few things, especially after updating to iOS 4.2.1...

Something strange happen with my app store account

Hello everyone,
At home we have two computers, mine is a MBP Retina and my wife has an iMac. Yesterday she got an uppdate advise and when she went to uppdate the application "The Unarchiver" app store said that she has to connect with my accout in order to uppdate the app. I tested deleting the app from the iMac and ran app store updates again and it found an uppdate for the same application and that is strange since I deleted the application, App Store should show "download" not "update". I tested with other apps and I didin't have any problem in downloadning nor updating with my wife account.
All this in my wife computer (iMac)
I took a look anyway to my computer (MBP) and app store doesn't have any update pending for me and I have "The Unarchiver" installed.
Is someone else with similar problem?

If the update on your wife's iMac asks for your Apple ID to update the app, that means that this app is your content bought with your Apple ID and you have shared it with your wife and authorized her Mac to use your content at some point in the past. Even on her Mac, your content is your content and requires your ID and password to be updated.
If it was saying update instead of install after you deleted the app, then there is likely a backup of your wifes Mac that has the old version of the app. The Mac App Store (MAS) can see its apps on attached/mounted drives and partitions.
Check the version number of the app on your Mac, maybe you already have the latest version.

Yes you can, and it's then up to you whether to have the same the same or different content to the older one. When you sync to it your computer for the first time it may be best to give it a different name, just so that you can distinguish them.

Hi all;
For MS Exchange on Mac, you need to run IMAP4 on MS Exchange server to allow Mac users connect and download emails locally using Mail.app (copy from emails remain on server like Outlook).
For that do the following:
1. Enable IMAP4 service:
a. From Services (Local).
b. Microsoft Exchange IPAM4.
c. Change it to Automatic.
d. Start the service.
2. Enable IMAP4 in MS Exchange system:
a. Exchange System Manager.
b. First Organization.
c. Servers.
d. 'Server name'.
e. Protocols.
f. IMAP4.
g. Default IMAP4 Virtual Server.
h. Right click and Start.
3. Restart MS Exchange server.
On Mac client (Mail.app):
1. Add new account.
2. Email Address: [email protected]
3. Password: user's password.
4. Account Type: Exchange.
5. Incoming Mail Server: "MS Exchange server" IP or Full DNS name (i.e. Server.test.com).
6. User Name: [email protected]
7. Password: user's password.
8. Outlook Web Access Server: Same to Incoming Mail Server.
9. Outgoing Mail Server: Same to Incoming Mail Server.
10. Check "Use Authentication" and fill User and Password fields.
11. Check "Take Account Online" .
Note: Mac users have to join the windows domain
