Can no longer sync apps, music or books to ipad or iphone

Hi guys, I recently downloaded the new version of iTunes, and now cannot sync music, apps or books to either my iphone or ipad. iTunes recongnises the devices, but when I select data to sync across and click sync, nothing happens.
Please help if you can.

I had a similar problem only neither my iPad nor my iPhone would sync and I was getting error 1106.
I looked it up and it said delete the iphoto cache, which I did and I also turned of syncing photos.
Now when I turn on SYNC PHOTOS FROM, the choice of Select albums........ is greyed out and cannot be clicked.
I don't want to sync my entire set of photos.

If you have not taken the iPod apart, Apple will exchange it for a refurbished one for $99. You can do it an an Apple store

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

i have a PC. First of all, the other day i opened itunes to discover that all of my music had disappeared from it. I then had to get it to find all the music and my computer and import it. I then discovered I have triplicates of multiple songs and cannot figure out an easy way to fix that. That's Problem 1.
Larger Problem 2 is that I can no longer drag songs from my itunes onto my iphone 4. I could two weeks ago, but can't now. There's definitely enough memory on my phone for the music. I'd rather not have it automatically sync my iphone music with my itunes library as the latter has 60+ gigs of music and i don't want it all on my phone.
Someone please help, this is quite frustrating. (I'm also not incredibly tech savy, so please use simple detailed instructions)

Why can't I sync my music without erasing my entire current iphone library???? Newly purchased MP3s don't transfer from my (authorized) laptop itunes.

My desktop no longer works where previous MP3s and CDs were downloaded. I currently use my laptop now and cannot get recently purchased MP3s to sync on my iphone 4 without erasing my current iphone library and replacing it with what is on my laptop. I've searched and experimented with every possibility (it seems) without taking the "big step" of syncing my entire library. My current iphone library has 990+ songs and my laptop itunes library only has 381. I don't want to lose what I've got already. Anybody????

There are third-party programs like those discussed here that can transfer non-iTunes purchased music to a computer.

I can no longer sync new music i've downloaded into my iTunes library onto my phone. When i click the playlist "recently added" under my phone on my computer it just shows all the songs greyed out with a dotted circle on the left hand side. Any clue why?

I've had an iphone for over a year, and a macbook for over 2 years. my phone is completley updated to 7.0.3 and my computer is completley updated with the new itunes 11.1.12 which i thought was supposed to help this problem. I've never had this problem, and its extremely frustrating.

I downloaded one of the file explorer programs (iFunbox in my case) for my PC and deleted everything out of the "Purchases" folder on the phone's "Raw File System". After a couple of syncs with iTunes everything was back to normal. It appears that something was screwed up on the iPhone side that iTunes couldn't sort out. I don't think anything could sync from iTunes to the phone, not just the greyed out items.
This is why resetting and restoring the iPhone also works for a lot of people. It's overkill though, deletes your app data, and just wastes your time setting everything back up after the restore. Better to use the surgical approach of a file system explorer program on your PC to fix what appears to be a mundane data corruption issue.

their extensions are .Ipa you can try doing a search on your harddisk
unless you formattet it when you reinstalled
but an app can only ever be bought 1 times on an appleID so if you try to buy them again it will give you a free download of the app and not charge you
about sync then if you connect the ipad and click info tab and set it to sync your outlook data it should sync without any problems

I'm wary about updating to Lion as this may cause any number of apps on my Macbook not to work at all or malfunction. Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

Did some searches, but did not come up with anything regarding your specific issue (the original one, the grey 'waiting' problem is quite common). If no other ofrum users chime in, it is indeed time to contact Apple / iTunes Store support.
If you have not yet one so, Try to Reset your device. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off that shows up first).
You could also try to re-download one or two apps, just to see if anything changes. Log in to the iTunes Store, go to the Purchases section and download from the list of past purchases or free apps.
