Image files should open just fine. CS Plug-in may or may not work in CC.

I think I've created confusion about what I want. All I want is to end up with a file that is flattened so that I can save it as a tiff without getting a warning that it contains layers. Please correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve always assumed I should always flatten a file before I save it as a tiff unless I specifically want to retain layers or transparency. I’m only talking here of files that open with a single layer: ie. Layer 1. I assume that if I don’t flatten such files the resultant files will be unnecessarily big?
The only reason I keep saying I want a Background layer is that I know that a flattened file will only have a Background layer. I don’t have any desire for a Background layer per se. I certainly don’t want to add extra layers - quite the opposite.
So perhaps the question I should have asked should have been:
How can I get files to open 'ready-flattened' by default so I can save them directly to tiff without having to manually flatten them every time?

Photoshop CS1 files not opening with a double click?

I'm not sure if this is an Adobe related issue, but I recently installed Tiger on my 2005(white/1.33ghz/PPC G4) ibook. With Panther, and with every other OS/application, I was able to double a Photoshop File and have Photoshop open along with the file. Here's what happens now: I double click the photoshop file (any photoshop cs1 file), Photoshop opens, but my file doesn't open. I have to find the file and open it from the menu bar in order to access it. This is very annoying for me as I open Photoshop files more than anything. Here's what I've done: I got info on the Photoshop file to make sure Photoshop CS1 is selected as the host application. Check preferences and settings in Photoshop, (didn't find anything related though, but everything is the way they were when I was on Panther. Possible Obstructions: I also have Photoshop 6 on 0S 9 installed on my computer. I have many filters on this version that I don't on CS1. I don't think this is the reason but I could be wrong. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Except Adobe tells you to reinstall Photoshop (or least that has been their recommendation), which is completely unnecessary. The problem is that this is missing when you do a system upgrade:
"/Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types"
Reinstalling Photohop will, of course, create the ScriptingAdditions folder and place the "Adobe Unit Types" file inside it. If you still have your Previous System folder, or a backup of it, or access to another machine with Photohop installed, you can simply put the ScriptingAdditions folder into your /Library folder. If not you can create the ScriptingAdditions folder yourself (note there is NO space in the name), then download and unzip this:

and put the "Adobe Unit Types" into the ScriptingAdditions folder.

Is it possible for a saved path to open a folder where the user can select the file to open?

I would like to retieve a link via database that would open a folder of drawings, word documents, pdf files, excel files etc., where the user can select which file they want. Selected files would open in which ever format they were with programs that are already installed on the users computer. For example, the link would open a folder where several solid works files were, and a couple of Word documents. The user would select one of the Solid Works files, and it would open up in the Solid Works installation on the users computer. Is this possible, or must a link point directly to a file?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "link". Are you referring to a URL that uses a "file://" protocol?
The standard File Dialog VI has a "start path" input that you can set so the file dialog opens to that folder.

Images not displaying in photoshop though file is open

Photoshop is opening my files but doesn't display the image unless I drag the window. Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, how did you resolve it?

CS5.5 files: can 5.5 files be opened with 5?

In the middle of a project with a collaborator. If I upgrade to 5.5, will the user of 5 be able to open files also?

Yes.
The code is plain text HTML so not proprietary or custom file formats.
If you upgrade to 5.5, you can keep 5 on your computer and still use that whenever you wish (close 5.5 first).

Can't delete files in open office org writer

I was backing up files from my documents in org writer
* onto a cd, but found that the files were also _going to my*
docs as a copy.
When I right clicked on the copied files in my docs, and
then clicked "delete," they went back to my docs as
further copies (1 2 3 etc) as I tried to delete them.

Gmatos, when I high-light and drag file from iTunes to my trash the usual promt of "do I want to remove it" followed by by the uual "do I want to keep the file or remove that from my library" comes up too. I click "dont keep file" and it is gone from my itunes and my library an my HD. It's exactly the same as it's always been except annoyingly this is the only way I can do it as the delete button just doesn't work in this latest version.

Can Corel Draw files be opened in any CS3 application?

A client provided a multi-page Corel File to be printed. It will not open in or cannot be placed into Illustrator. Is there some kind of a third party conversion tool out there?

Illustrator CS3 can directly open Corel files up to version 10. Ask the client to save the CorelDraw file as version 10. Then open each page individually in Illustrator and save each page separately. There is likely to be some font and item slight shifting, so it's not a good idea to do this unless you need to extract anything or edit something.
Or do what Bob suggested and ask for a print ready PDF all ready to go.

Can't find file when open exe

when i double click on an exe, a dialog will appear to ask me to find a directory. The title bar says "Please Find Err Called Vis Directory Last@" I guess it means I need to find the Last@ directory that contains VIs which are called by another VI called Err? I don't have a directory with a @ in its name. Any thoughts on that?

Development environment path and executable paths are different. There's one more level to strip off in the exe.
You can get an app-type out of the application reference property node, and along with a case structure figure out how many strip-paths to pop in there.

I would assume this wouldn't be a problem but I am sending myself files from work which were done in CS and I just want to make sure they will work and be editable at home where I have CS3.
