Can 'Region' field gets defaulted based on owner of account?

Hi
Can 'Region' field in Account sales information gets defaulted based on owner of account?
Owner belongs to 'West' region then account should get defaulted with same region.
I have defined 'West' as territory for this owner.
Do anybody has expression available for making field default ?

Mahesh,
Read-only is an option, but only if you never want users to change the values. If your users always work in the same Div, Region, and Sub-Region, then it would be reasonable to lock it so they don't feel like they have to update it. If,however, you have users that work in more than one sub-region, and they need to update it, then you wouldn't make it read-only.
As far as workflow is concerned, you would need it to update the values when the ownership changes, if that is a requirement. If you choose not to update it, then it might not reflect the correct values for the new owner. Your decision on whether or not to implement the workflow would be based on whether or not your business rules require it. Most of the time, customers want the data to reflect the correct values for the current owner, but not always, so check with your customers and let the requirements drive the decision.

    I do not have, nor do I wish to have an additional email account. I have an account with hotmail and would like to make it my default email for my browser. Hotmail is not currently one of the options I am given, the options being yahoo or gmail. I could find no place to change this setting or add hotmail.

    Here's the official approach which embeds the change more deeply in Firefox so any feature which wants to send an email can use it.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''gecko''' and pause while the list is filtered.
    (3) Double-click '''gecko.handlerService.allowRegisterFromDifferentHost''' to toggle its value from false to true. The line should turn bold.
    (4) In another tab, containing a normal web page, open the Web Console using one of these methods:

    1) I do not need to include the jaxp.jar and parser.jar files because I am using JDK 1.4

    I found my own error. After loading up sun's reference implementation server in NetBean's debugger I noticed that it was only handling .jnlp files. Going back to the "Packaging JNLP Applications in a Web Archive" document I found my mistake. My web.xml files should have looked like this.

    That is just plain evil. But I am sure I could do something to help.

    TS1717 as noted in the thread title...
    Brigancook, is the library database on the external or just the media? iTunes reevaluates smart playlists and rewrites its database after every action on the library. I've found this can make a library half that size, with a lot of smart playlists, quite sluggish. That said I'm aware part of my problem is aging hardware. Having the database on the internal drive may improve performance if it is currently on the external.
    I'd expect to see an exponential relationship between size and response time which may explain what you see. Cutting down on the number of smart playlists might help. If we're really lucky the long awaited iTunes 11 might have streamlined some of the background processes as well as cleaning up the front end.

  • Defaulting the Account screen 'Region' field.

    Within the Account screen there is a Region field which currrently has a drop down list box, and a description field next to it. I need to change this so that, using the country code + Other fields the Region value and description is looked up from Z tables (joined) from within R/3. I already have a functional module that I can remotely call which will allow the source values to be parsed to R/3 and will extract the Region value and description and return this. However, where should this code reside, and more to the point, how can I discover myself where I can place this code.
    I therefore have a number of questions around this:
    o Is calling a remote FM, the best solution, as I know that R3 data can be accessed from CRM.
    o I can look at the fields for this assignment block of the Accounts screen (if that's the right terminology) and can see the 'Region' field and next it the 'Name' field. However, one of the other fields, like language, also a field next to it called 'Name', so how can that be right?.
    o How can I populate the Region description field (called 'Name').
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for that, I knew it was a GET_* method that I would need to use, but I'm not sure how I find where this method is. Ideally I would expect to either be in some transaction, click on the field and go into some coding area which is related to this field.
    Given that I have a field (named 'Region') which I wish to insert particular code for and it resides in the accounts screen within the 'Main address and communication data' block, how do I identify the GET_* method and coding area for this field?.
    The field is currently has a dropdown list box which I need to remove as it will be populated with a fixed value and marked as Read-only. I assume I'll need to make these changes via the AET.

    Here is a sample with script in the change event of the dropdown. You may want to clear previous checkbox choices once the subform is hidden.
    It is good to group objects in a subform - that way you only need to hide the subform and not each object in turn.

    duplicate content of region fields in the region and keep some fields displayed in this region and some not.
    Our customer wants to duplicate the content of the region fields and 3 fields of this region (one of them is the key from the table ) have to be shown empty and have to be recreated when he does the next commit. The other 25 fields have to be filled with the content before. (I have to do a commit before I show the region again without these three fields)
    What I did:
    When I have a botton with request CHANGE then APEX does the change without emptying the fields. I tried to make processes on this request which should empty my three fields, but the processes never fire (I see it in the debug and I don't know why, I putted them on every process point for testing)
    The second try:
    On my button with request CHANGE , I filled the 'set these items ' with my three fields and the 'with these items' with 2 commas ,, to set these items null.
    I do no claer cache, but APEX empties the hole region.
    Can you help me??

    OK - This is what I did:
    1 - Page 15
    On the EMPNO column, I have a link to page 18. I set P18_EMPNO to #EMPNO#. I assume that you already have this functionality to link from the report page to the form page. There are no changes required to this page.
    2 - Page 18
    I have created a hidden field called "P18_EMPNO_COPY". There are no special settings for this item - I've just put it at the bottom of the region containing all of the other items
    I have created a button called "P18_COPY". This has a Conditional Display set with a Condition Type of Value of Item in Expression 1 IS NOT NULL and Expression 1 of P18_EMPNO. This has an Option URL Redirect set for it with the following settings:
    Target is a - Page
    Page - 18
    Set These Items - P18_EMPNO,P18_EMPNO_COPY
    With These Values - ,&P18_EMPNO.
    I have created a Process to run "On Load - After Header". The PL/SQL code for this is:

    Finally, for each field, I have added in a Default Value that points to itself (For example, the P18_JOB field has a Default Value of :P18_JOB) with a Default Value Type of PL/SQL Expression.
    Obviously you will need to replace the field and item names with those for your table and form.
    This process does the following:
    1 - The user clicks the link in the report on page 15. P18_EMPNO gets populated with the EMPNO value of the item select.
    2 - Page 18 is loaded with the data relating to the record with the ID found in P18_EMPNO
    3 - The Copy button is displayed only if P18_EMPNO contains a value
    4 - The user clicks the Copy button
    5 - The P18_EMPNO value is copied into P18_EMPNO_COPY and P18_EMPNO is blanked out
    6 - The page is submitted with these changes. When it reloads, the new process kicks in
    7 - This process will:
    (A) Create a variable based on the record structure for the EMP table
    (B) Fill this variable with the data in the table for the ID that's now in P18_EMPNO_COPY
    (C) Set the session state values for the fields that need to be repopulated with the data now retrieved into the variable
    (D) Clear the P18_EMPNO session state value
    8 - When the page starts to load the form, it will see that there is no P18_EMPNO value and, therefore, will not bring in any information from the table. However, as we have now set the Default Value settings for each field, this will force it to retrieve the values we've stored using the new process and display these values in the form.
    I think I've detailed everything - if this doesn't work, please let me know!

  • How to dynamically get default value from a table column

    Hi all,
    Here's my problem: Our front end application sends insert and update queries to a pl/sql package. I've got a procedure that gets a PL/SQL table with all the column names an values, a table-name and a primary key name and value. That procedure creates an insert or update statement. So far, so good.
    Now the problem: our front end doesn't know what the default value for a column is. So when a number field doesn't get a value in the front-end, it's inserted with a value '0' though is should ben NULL. My sollution for this is to know the default value of a column: when there's a default of '0', then the value that will be inserted is '0'. When there's no default value and the column can ben NULL, it'll be inserted as NULL. if the column has a not null constraint, a '0' will be inserted.
    Ofcourse I can get the default value from the system-views all_tab_columns or user_tab_columns, but our application is installed at some 100 clients, and has various database installations. Most of the times, the tables are in the same schema as our procedure that performs the insert or update, but sometimes some of the tables are in another schema (in the same database) and also sometimes some tables are stored in another database. In all these situations, a synonym for that table exists in the schema.
    Is there a api function or procedure that I can call to get the default value of a column? I looked at dbms_sql and dbms_metadata, but those packages don't give me that perticular information. if not, I'll stuck with the 'does table exists in schema' yes->use table, no query user_synonyms to look for the owner of the table (and database link) and query all_tab_columns to get the default value. Only this seems a bit overkill to me.
    I hope I'm clear enough? And please don't reply with "don't do inserts this way"! I know, this is not the most optimal sollution, but it does gives us a couple of advantages in our application...

    there is no way that I can think of, apart from what you have already discovered (i.e. views), where you can determine if a column has a defuault value defined against it.
    The other option is triggers, but I guess doing that across 600 tables would not be an option, and besides I stay clear of triggers.
    A different approach therefore, if you cannot pre-determine the data, is to consider a post problem handler, hence I suggested the use of an exception handler.
    The exception handler works regardless of whether the statement is dynamic or not.

    Hi Roman,
    I have testet it both. With a complete new requisition and with a old one. Same problem.
    But know I have recognized a strange system behaviour.
    If I toogle the first language I am not able to see my default_text. But if I toggle a second on(English etc) I can see the default text within this second tab.
    So the result is that I am able to see the default texts but only if I toggle two languages
    I am thinking I am missing something within my BADI implementation.
    The only thing I have done is to prorgram follwing section within the method GET_PROJECT_DESC
    method IF_EX_HRRCF00_GET_DEFAULT_TEXT~GET_PROJECT_DESC.
