Can SCCM be used to set TCP/IP parameters?

We have an internal DNS appliance ( OpenDNS) and all of our dynamic clients use it as a resolver simply enough using DHCP. However all of our servers have static configs that point to our domain controllers rather than the OpenDNS appliance. This leaves
us blind as to any potential malware requests coming from our servers since the reports will only include identity information if the appliance is used for the DNS request. So we get a lot of N/A in the identity column of reports that I can neither confirm,
nor deny, if the source is a server.
I need to change the DNS setting of all servers to the OpenDNS appliance. I have a powershell script that goes and replaces any DNS entry found for a domain controller, to the OpenDNS appliance. Now I just need to figure out how to deploy this. It has been
suggested we use either SCCM or GPO. A computer startup script would be simple enough, the problem is that servers do not reboot ever. And I'm not sure I want to use a logon script for this. So that leaves SCCM as a possibility.   What is the best method
to deploy and launch a powershell script using SCCM? I can't seem to come up with a solution that I like so far..

I did create and deploy a package, but it fails and I'm not sure why. I will paste some log output below. I also created a baseline for this that successfully determines compliance, but then the remediation does not happen. I can't figure out why, and am
so far proving unlucky in determining where to look for clues.
Here is a failed software deployment for this:

These instructions apply only if you want to use the same Apple ID with iMessage and with iTunes. If that's not what you want, contact Apple by clicking the "Support" link at the top of this page.

  • Our Apple ID can't be used to set up iMessage at this time

I'm successfully using iMessage / FaceTime on my iPhone and iPad but now I bought the MacBook Air and I can't log in!
    The message I'm getting is:
Your Apple ID "[email protected]" can't be used to set up iMessage at this time
    Can anyone help, please?

There is no official public documentation of that alert as far as I know.
If you're trying to sign in to FaceTime, try to sign in to iMessage in the Messages application, or vice versa.
Otherwise, do as the alert directs. According to reports, you won't be charged for the support call if you select "Apple ID"—not the hardware model—as the product you're asking about, and cite the "customer code" in the alert as the "validation code" when you speak to the Apple representative.

  • Can iWorks be used to set up a bracket form?

I need something I can use to set up brackets for pedigrees of horses and a spreadsheet to keep track of my horse business. Are these things possible with any part of iWorks?
    Sheila K

Spreadsheet's easy enough. Numbers can be set up for most purposes.
    Not sure about the brackets other than using the Shapes function, but you'd be better asking in the appropriate forum anyway;

  • Your Apple ID can't be used  to set up iMessage at this time.

Hello, have MacBook Pro with OS X Mavericks. All worked fine but today I normally restarted my MacBook and iMessages stop working. Don't know why. Can anybody help me? I tried to call to support centre, but in Slovakia isn't any support and czech support is offline today.
    Thank you so much.

There is no official public documentation of that alert as far as I know, but apparently it can sometimes mean that the same Apple ID is being used with the iTunes Store or one of the other Apple content stores, and the payment method is invalid. Sign in to the store and review your account. You do not, of course, have to provide any billing information to set up an account to use only with iMessage, as it's a no-charge service.
Another possibility is that the primary or alternate email address is invalid. Search the Web for the phrase "My Apple ID." The top hit should be an Apple web page with that title. I'm not giving a direct link because such links are never to be trusted. Sign in and verify the ID.
Otherwise, do as the alert directs. According to reports, you won't be charged for the support call if you select "Apple ID"—not the hardware model—as the product you're asking about, and cite the "customer code" in the alert as the "validation code" when you speak to the Apple representative. I can't confirm.

If this is a new Apple ID, you do not need to create another one. To use this Apple ID with iMessage, contact iMessage support with the code below.

  • Can you specify which SUP an SCCM client uses?

    Hi,
I'm setting up clients in my company's domain to be managed by an existing SCCM 2012 R2 site in our parent company's domain.  There's a two way trust in place, and I've deployed a site server in my domain as an MP and SUP.  My clients are picking
up the new server as their MP (according to ClientLocation.log) but are going back to the primary site server for Updates (as reported in WUAHandler.log).
This is all working fine, but I'd like to keep the traffic local to my domain/network if possible.  Can someone tell me if this is by design (I've read things about it being for fault tolerance) or whether there is an SCCM setting that I can use to
keep my clients local to my domain?
    Many thanks.

    Hi Jason,
Thanks for that, it looked like it was exactly what I needed, but on reading it, I could see that it was only setting the reg key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Windows\WindowsUpdate\WUServer until the CCM client got installed and took over management.
That registry key is the same one as is set by the Windows Update GPO 'Specify intranet Microsoft service location' which I did have configured but it resulted in this error in WUAHandler.log:
Group policy settings were overwritten by a higher authority (Domain Controller) to: Server http://<FQDN of my server>:8530 and Policy ENABLED
Failed to Add Update Source for WUAgent of type (2) and id ({GUID}). Error = 0x87d00692.
Googling this error was what suggested that I might have to leave it to SCCM to manage the setting.

Under my setting in iMessages it only allows me to select my linked emails and the telephone number is there but grayed out and i can't seletect it ! It wont activate. I just recentely got AT&T.  When I had verizon before and my phone got disconnected it allowed me to still iMessage off my number.

If your phone service is disconnected, it's not your number any more.
If you "just got AT&T", how can it be disconnected?

You are making some progress with setup of wireless network. Apparently there is reliability problem with the wireless connection. Perhaps you want to refer to following Apple support documents and start tweaking parameters in the router to improve the reliability. I used to have third-party routers such as Belkin and Netgear but switched to Apple Airport routers (Time Capsule then Airport Extreme for now) because of incompatibility issues whenever Apple upgrade Mac OS X. But since Apple develops Airplay protocol as alternative to Bluetooth for wireless audio/video streaming (with much better bandwidth) and must be deployed in any wireless network, there is no reason third-party routers not working for Airplay protocol.

  • Hi my partner used my email address and iTunes account to set up his iPhone and now both our phones have merged! Does anyone know how to separate these? Can he still use our iTunes account with a different Id or email! Please help!!

HI my partner used my apple id and email address when setting up his iPhone so when he turned on iCloud our phones merged!! How do we undo this? Can he still use my iTunes account with a different Id and can he change the email on his phone without losing information? Also iPad is linked too, the family uses this and I would like to keep my phone separate! At the moment nothing is sacred! Please help! We are not very good with computers!!

Several things here so let me attempt to clarify.
For iCloud the reason the contacts where removed from he other device is because you updated your contacts, in this case deleted them, and then iCloud updated the other device to match. By deleting the iCloud account on the device it will stop the device from using that iCloud account and therefore nothing will change on the other device. By using a seperate Apple ID you can still use the features of iCloud, Find My iPhone comes to mind, without your content (contacts, message etc.) merging with the other device
For iTunes, you cannot use two Apple IDs for one account however if you use the same account iTunes on your computer will keep the content on each device seperate very nicely. You can also configure the settings for iTunes and the App store on each device to keep the content from automatically downloading to the other device. What I meant by share apps and music is this. What happens if you find a game, lets say Minecraft, that you really like and it cost, as Mincraft cost, $6.99USD. You buy it and play for a while and then you realize that your husband really likes the game as well. If you both use the same Apple ID for iTunes he can download the $7.00ish game to his device at no additional charge. If you use seperate Apple IDs for iTunes well... it look like he will also be paying for the game to have it on his account. Same goes for Music and Movies
I hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have anymore question.

  • I can't remember the password I used to set up icloud nor the email I used to set it up with. I have my apple ID and email for that account.

I recently had to do a factory restore on my iphone 4s. Upon trying to set up my phone again I am being asked to sign into my icloud account. I can't remember the password or the email I used to set it up. I know my Apple ID, password and email for that account, but that doesn't allow me to get back into my phone. I can't reset the icloud password because I can't remember the email I used. Any ideas on what I can do please ?

I have just brought 2 mini's for my boys for xmas.  1. can I connect them both to my existing Itunes account or do I need to set up something different. and 2. can they be used on their dads account as well as mine, or only one?

You can set them up with your Apple ID if you want to. You can also set them up with their dad's Apple ID. Depending on how old the boys are, you can even let then have their own Apple ID's. The one thing that you don't want to do is have them use more than one Apple ID on their iPads.
If you want to be able to share purchased content, then setting them up with either your ID or your husband's (?) ID would be the way to go. If the boys share an ID with one of you, they can download content that you have already purchased without having to pay for it again.
If you and have the financial wherewithal to allow them to purchase their own individual content, I would recommend letting them have their own Apple ID. This way, as they grow older and eventually move on, they will have their own accounts, their own purchases .... No ties needed to your ID or to dad's ID. FaceTime and Messages will be a little easier to set up if they have their own ID's and they can have their own iCloud accounts as well. However, they must be 13 years old in order to have an Apple ID and iTunes account. If they are under 13, then it's a no brainer you will have to use yours or their father's ID.
Whatever you decide to do, just don't switch from one ID to another ID on the iPads. That gets confusing and they could end up locking themselves out of one of the ID's for 90 days if they download a past purchase using a different ID.
