Can send photos but recipients have errors viewing

I can send photos using email just fine, but when the people I send go to look at them they say they just get a message saying something like " new jpg image". It won't let them view it or download. Any help?

This is because MMS is not a standard. Each phone has limitations of type of file, size of file, etc that it can accept. The iPhone sends out a pretty large file compared to what other phones allow for receiveing for MMS.
While I cannot confirm it, but a very good reason why Apple just skipped MMS is because it is not a standard and all know Apple (Steve) wants to make things that just work..if cannot work all the time they why bother. Since MMS is not a standard and each phone maker has different file types they allow sending or receiving and each phone based on screen and processing power has different rules, it makes MMS messy. Even before the iPhone I could only send certain files to certain friends and certain friends could only send me certain things. I never could send to all 100% of the time and vise versa.

    Hello Liz,
It sounds like you are not able to receive emails on your iPad.  I recommend the following resources for an issue like this:

  • I can send photos TO my MacBook Pro from my iPhone 5S using AirDrop but not vice versa.

I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10 on my MacBook Pro, which has AirDrop enabled and is available in Finder and I am using iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5S.  I can send photos to my MacBook Pro using AirDrop from my iPhone but I cannot send photos to my iPhone from my MacBook Pro using AirDrop.  I have to email the photos to myself via email.  Is there anyone else having a problem with this or does anyone have any advice on how to fix this problem?  When dragging a photo to my listed iPhone in AirDrop on my MacBook Pro I simply get an error notification, which is very frustrating.  Thank you for your time.

Sorry, please disregard this. My roommate rebooted the router while I had stepped outside and now it's all running again.
At least this will be a possible option for anyone else that has this problem

    Any ideas, people?

    Hi Kharels
Just posted this reply to 2 others with same sort of question:
I have the same issue as i have my own email address and only want to use.
There are two ways around this annoying problem. The first is to set up your own domain email account alongside your iCloud one, and when you go to send each email tap on From and you get a choice of emails addresses to reply from... ie your own domain or the iCloud one.  This is tedious though.
The other is to set up your iCloud email as normal, then create a new one altogether. Choose 'Other' when creating this new account. Then put for the incoming server mail.me.com, along with your user name and password. For the outgoing server put the server you want to use - ie your own domain one. This is therefore a hybrid account and does work.
Now switch off the email for iCloud (leaving on Calendar, Address Book etc). Switch on the email for your hybrid account (which of course is iCloud incoming as well).
Providing you have directed your own domain email address to your me.com one, you will find the iPhone should behave itself and you can use the folders etc and these will synch with your Mac ok.
Hope this work for you - let us know.
    Simon

I was sending text messages this morning but all of a sudden I stopped receiving them.  I have found out that I can send them but can't receive them on my mac book or on my wifes mac book, but can receive my messages on the iphone!!!   Can anyone help me?

If you're referring to iMessages, then the problem is that Apple is having server issues. If the problems your having are with standard SMS, post back with further details.

  • Can send email but cannot receive on exchange account

My .mac account, gmail account, and yahoo account work flawlessly on my iphone. My work account, however, does not. My employer has his iphone working fine and my settings are the same but for some reason I can't receive email. I have no problem sending email from the account with the iphone, only receiving. Anyone have any ideas?
I have tried setting it up via the "exchange" option (entering mail servers, login, and password) and get the following:
    1. Cannot connect using SSL (I proceed without it)
    2. Cannot get mail. The user name or password is incorrect. IMAP support must be enabled. (which it is because my employer connects without issue).
    3. I save the account despite the warnings and can send email but not receive.

I am having the same problem with both my work and Yahoo accounts. At least to the work account I am positive that the settings are the same as a co-worker using an iTouch to access his email. I have re-entered the settings a minimum of 10 times and the IT department has tried no less than 5 times. The error message remains the same. I could understand incorrectly entering the settings once or twice, but not separate people entering it 15 times. There is something else wrong with the iPhone software.

Here is what I did to resolve the problem:
In Mail/preferences/accounts/account information/ and at the bottom of the box there is a toggle arrow up and down to edit the outgoing mail server, check the box "use only this server" and  hit this toggle button and select "edit SMTP Server List" at the very bottom of the email names.
Select Advanced tab.  Correct and/or add usernames and passwords as needed for each email account.  Be sure to select OK each time to get the passwords to hold!  Some changes don't seem to hold unless you click OK before you move on.
To test:       Window/activity (a little windows will pop up showing activity bars)   and then "get mail" button.  This should show any problems
    Another test:  window/connection doctor
This shouldl fix both pop and imap.  so far it worked on yahoo, mobile me, gmail, hotmail, and others.  Of course, you will need to know the incoming and outgoing mail server info, user name, and passwords.
Too bad we have to go though hoops to use an email program that used to work well.  Worse yet, many may not know for days that their email isn't working.

Try Mail->Window->Connection Doctor.  If there is a problem reported, try:
Open Mail->Preferences and check your settings.
If you still have a problem, Copy your settings (screen capture ⇧⌘4), delete account, and re-setup account

My iPhone 5 will not send photos but will send text. I went to settings and everything seems good to go but I cannot send photos to anyone via messages...please help

When you said you went to Settings and everything seems good. Does that mean the MMS was turned on? If so, and this is only being experienced when dealing with SMS/MMS, then you should contact your carrier to have them check to make sure your account is provisioned for MMS, and that everything is alright with your account. SMS/MMS is a carrier function.
