Can sql profiles be moved from Oracle SE/SEO to XE

Hi all.
I use both: 10g XE, 11g XE as well as SE and SEO.
I'd like to know if i can export / import or move sql profiles from SE / SEO to Oracle XE.
Thanks in advance!!!

Profiles? Need a bit more info on what you're after.
For sqlplus the $ORACLE_HOME/admin/glogin.sql file gets executed every time one starts sqlplus or does a connect. Or its %ORACLE_HOME% on windows hosts.
For export and import (also see the 11gR2 Utilities doc Overview of Oracle Data Pump ) but generally the tables, the data, stored procedures, functions, etc. will be compatible, the main caveat will be source and target RDBMS versions, features added (or absent) from one or the other. The first two digits, possibly all four digits of the release version number are relevant.
And the XE space limit has to apply, as well as the absence of some features not included in the engine see the XE license page Oracle® Database Express Edition  it has details on what is/is not present.

    Hi all,
    Please anybody tell me how to call a sql server stored procedure from oracle.
    I've made an hsodbc connection and i can do insert, update, fetch data in sql server from oracle. But calling SP gives error. when I tried an SP at oracle that has line like
    "dbo"."CreateReceipt"@hsa
    where CreateReceipt is the SP of sql server and hsa is the DSN, it gives the error that "dbo"."CreateReceipt" should be declared.
    my database version is 10g
    Please help me how can i call it... I need to pass some parameters too to the SP

    hi,
    thank you for the response.
    when i call the sp using DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH, without parameters it works successfully, but with parameters it gives the following error

  • Can we call shell script from oracle 9i?

    Hi experts,
    I wanted to know can we call shell script from oracle 9i procedures? If yes,how
    Thanks
    Shaan

    No. I can't think of a way to do this...
    If you want you can use DBMS_SCHEDULER to call OS SHELL scripts within.
    For e.g.
    CREATE PROGRAM
    begin
    dbms_scheduler.create_program
    program_name => 'CHECK_TIME',
    program_type => 'EXECUTABLE',
    program_action => '/opt/oracle/chk_date.sh',
    enabled => TRUE,
    comments => 'Check the Time'
    end;
    CREATE A SHELL SCRIPT
    opt/oracle> cat chk_date.sh
    #!/usr/bin/ksh
    echo "The date is :`date`"
    CREATE SCHEDULE
    begin
    dbms_scheduler.create_schedule
    schedule_name => 'EVERY_30_MINS',
    repeat_interval => 'FREQ=MINUTELY; INTERVAL=30',
    comments => 'Every 30-mins'
    end;
    CREATE JOB
    begin
    dbms_scheduler.create_job
    job_name => 'RUN_CHECK_TIME',
    program_name => 'CHECK_TIME',
    schedule_name => 'EVERY_30_MINS',
    comments => 'Run the program CHECK_TIME every 30 minutes',
    enabled => TRUE
    end;
    MANUALLY RUN A JOB
    exec dbms_scheduler.run_job('RUN_CHECK_TIME');

  • SQL Profiler's equivalent in Oracle.

    Hi All,
    We are using Oracle 10g as backend for our application. We would like to see which database objects (stored procedures, functions, triggers etc) are getting called at the Oracle database server when various users connect to the application and they perfrom various transactions from the UI.
    There is a similar tool available in SQL server. That is SQL Profiler.
    Is there any similar tool which is present for Oracle database server for tracking the database objects invoked?
    Please suggest any option available in Oracle or any third party tools pluggable into Oracle database.

  • Can SQL Developer be used for Oracle Support "HTML Output" Diag Scripts ?

    Hi All,
    Oracle Support has asked me to run a diagnostic script (OTL_Diag.sql for anyone familar with the script) that produces output in HTML format using SQL*Plus to help troubleshoot an OTL problem we are having. Unfortunately I don't have SQL*Plus installed and my company is not on board with me installing it because of the SQL*NET connection required. Instead I have access to SQL Developer 3.1.0.7. While this works fine for most situations I'm having problems generating the required .html output file that Support needs.
    I've tried runing the OTL_Diag.sql a couple of ways using SQL Developer. First, I opened the file from SQL Developer and using the Run Script functionality (F5) I executed the code that way. This method did give me an opportunity to input the necessary parms and it did create the 'start' of the HTML file on my (Windows) file system, but the script seemed to abort with a java error that indicated some sort of format error (sorry, I'm not a java person so I can't provide any more info, but I'll be glad to get the exact error message if anyone thinks that will help solve my issue).
    My second approach was to open a SQL Window where I typed in @C:\OTL_Diag.sql without quotes. This approach also gave me the opportunity to enter the necessary input parms and it seemed to end normally. It also created the 'start' of the diaganostic output file on my Windows file system, but it 'completed' before any of the 'real' diaganostic output was written to the .html file.
    The Metalink note clearly specifies that the OTL_Diag.sql script is to be run with SQL*Plus 10.2 or above so I don't think I can complain too loudly to Oracle about this...but given that I don't have access to this product (and it is useless for me to again ask to install it) I am hoping someone out there has some ideas or insight as to how I can use SQL Developer to execute this diag script in a manner that will produce the required .html output file.
    Thanks in advance to anyone taking time to read my post !!

    >
    As a result, at this point in time my only available tool to run the OTL_Diag.sql script (provided by Oracle Support) is SQL Developer
    >
    Then you will have to edit the script, break it into pieces, execute each piece manually and save the output to feed into the next piece as required based on what the script is actually doing. Don't post the script or contents as that will likely violate your support agreement.
    As I already mentioned the script may be using syntax and/or commands that are simply not supported by sql*developer. One likely area is the script may be producing intermediate output scripts that are then processed by a later portion of the script. If that is the case then my suggestion to execute the pieces manually should work but you will need to do some trial-and-error to see.
    Even if you appear to be successful you will still have an issue when you communicate the results of your 'test' to Oracle support and they determine you didn't follow their instructions to use the proper tool.
    Sounds like your management is either ignorant or incompetent so I suggest you cover yourself by documentating the instructions from Oracle support and the direct orders you were given to disregard those instructions. No need to discuss that issue further but clearly there are resources available somewhere in the org that has the proper privileges or they wouldn't be able to maintain and support the database. If they want to pay for support they should heed their advice. Nuff said.

  • Connect to sql server 2008R2 64bit  from oracle 10g (10.2.0.4)

    Hi
    My requirement is to connect SQL server 2008 R2 64bit to oracle 10.2.0.4.0. and get the data from the SQL database. The SQL server database is located in a remote server. Please let me know the most suitable method to connect.
    Oracle database is running in Red hat Linux 4 enterprise edition 32bit version.
    Regards
    Pramuditha

    Pramuditha,
    I assume that your Oracle database should be the driving site that pushes and pulls the data from/to the SQL Server.
    Here Oracle offers 2 different products, a Database Gateway for ODBC and a Database Gateway for MS SQl Server which both give you the opportunity to define a database link to a MS SQL Server and to integrate it into the Oracle database.
    More details can be found on the My Oracle Support portal (support.oracle.com), then check out the Gateway Master Note:
    Master Note for Oracle Gateway Products (Doc ID 1083703.1)
    The note contains links to other content which gives you an overview about the options you have to connect to a foreign database:
    Document 233876.1 Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases - For example - DB2, SQL*Server, Sybase, Informix, Teradata, MySQL
    and it also explains the functional and licensing differences of the Database Gateway for ODBC and the other gateways:
    Document 252364.1 Functional Differences Between Generic Connectivity and Database Gateways
    Document 232482.1 Gateway and Generic Connectivity Licensing Considerations
    Once you decided which gateway you want to use you can also find the configuration notes linked to the Gateway Master Note.

    Maybe just some words about the versions:
    Your Oracle database release 10.2.0.4 is certified with the currently latest Oracle database Gateway release 11.2.0.3 (DG4ODBC and also DG4MSQL). When you decide to use DG4MSQL, then the 11.2.0.3 release is also certified for SQL Server 2008, when you plan to use DG4ODBC you need to find a suitable 3rd party ODBC driver that is certified with MS SQl Server 2008.

    Hi,
    It's because .bat (or .cmd) files are scripts and not executables and are interpreted using the command line executable - which is normally cmd.exe (although you can buy others).
    So you need to call cmd.exe passing the bat file name as a parameter, something like
    cmd.exe /c batchfilename
    Without the /c you will never get a response.
    However, this brings us to the bizarre conclusion that you are going to:
    call cmd.exe (a shell interpreter)
    to launch a batch file
    that calls cygwin (another shell interpreter)
    which then runs ls
    When shouldn't that just be:
    call cmd.exe to run the dir command
    Or better yet, If you are just after a file name listing and you seem to understand Java stored procs, why not just write a JSP to list the contents of a directory? No problems with OS dependant commands, scripts and 3rd party interpreters. Plenty of examples of that out on the internet as well.

  • Can Hyperion repository be migrated from Oracle to MySQL

    Hi Gurus,
    I was wondering if Hyperion Repository can be migrated from an existing Oracle database to MySQL database. If yes, then how? Any kind of advice is greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Uday

    Hi,
    First question is why you want to move from Oracle to MySQL as in newer versions of Hyperion MySQL is not supported anymore.
    There is no direct way of migrating the database you would have to look at using a 3rd party conversion tool or writing some custom code.
    Cheers

  • SQL Connect problem - migration from Oracle 7.3.4 to Oracle 8.0.6

    Our development environment has just been upgraded from HP10.20
    to HP11 and the database from Oracle 7.3.4.0 to Oracle 8.0.6.0.
    I am now having problems with one of the PRO*C programs. The old
    executable( compiled in the old enviroment HP10/Oracle734) is
    working fine in the new environment. But after I successfully re-
    compiled this program in the new environment, the new executable
    is not working and stops at the statement: 'EXEC SQL CONNECT:
    userid'. I have checked the userid and Oracle settings, they are
    correct. Right after the EXEC SQL, I've tried checking the
    status of connection, but it never gets there. The
    only change to the make file is using
    $(ORACLE8_HOME)/precomp/lib/env_precomp.mk instead of using
    $(ORACLE7_HOME)/precomp/env_precomp.mk
    Other PRO*C programs which are using exactly the same connecting
    statemment are working fine.
    Anyone have any ideas, I would appreciate them?
    Thanks,

    I am upgrading with precisely the same varaibles that you encountered
    and am receiving the same inability to do a simple CONNECT with
    Pro*C. Were you able to resolve this problem? If so, please reply
    with some guidance.
    Thank you.

  • Can you acces SilverStripe CMS from Oracle ADF?

    Hi,
    I'm building a web application using Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF).
    Some content that will surface on my web application's pages needs to come from a SilverStripe content management system.
    Has anyone successfully accessed content managed by SilverStripe from Oracle ADF before?
    How does ADF hook into SilverStripe?
    Is there a defined API which ADF can call in order to request content from SilverStripe? Is it documented?
    What format does SilverStripe return its content? HTML? XML? Is it configurable?
    I've found some Oracle documentation that outlines how you can access Oracle's own content management systems (namely, Oracle Portal, Oracle Content Server, Oracle UCM) from ADF, but nothing on SilverStripe, or any other third-party systems.
    If you could offer any advice, I'd be most grateful.
    Regards,
    Ken.

    Hi Andy,
    Yes, we have an existing Silverstripe installation that is used to create and host our web-site. The site is 'static' insofar as the content is for read-only purposes, and there are no pages where the user enters information and submits it back to the server.
    However, we now have a requirement to build a new web application that will allow the user to interact with the back end. (We're a utility company, so one such interaction might be for users to search through their billing history.) We're building this web application with Oracle ADF. Some of the pages will need to display a marketing banner highlighting our other products or latest offers to the user; it is this information that we want to retreive from Silverstripe. This all seems very possible to achieve; I just need to figure out the simplest way of doing it.
    I've taken a look at that link you posted, and also [http://doc.silverstripe.org/soapmodelaccess], but information is a little scant.
    I've just created a small text-only snippet in Silverstripe that is accessible via a URL, and am trying to reference it from my JSP using a JSTL Core Import tag, <c:import url="..." />.
    Will keep you posted.
    Regards,
    Ken.

  • How can I extract Java source from Oracle?

    I have an object of type "JAVA SOURCE" in my database. I do not have the source
    code available.
    How can I extract this source from the database so I can read it? I am not a Java programmer, so a sql or pl/sql solution would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    This query lists any Java object that the current database user has (JAVA SOURCE, JAVA CLASS or JAVA RESOURCE). Use this to determine which Java sources exist.
    SELECT * FROM USER_OBJECTS
    WHERE OBJECT_TYPE LIKE 'JAVA%'This query lists the source of one Java object.
    SELECT * FROM USER_SOURCE
    WHERE TYPE = 'JAVA SOURCE'
    AND NAME = 'com/acme/HelloWorld'Substitue the name of the java class you're interested in for 'com/acme/HelloWorld'.
    I know that the question is four years old, but I had the same question and arrived here via Google, so I figured posting an answer might help others in a similar situation.

  • Populate SQL table with data from Oracle DB in ODI

    Hi,
    I am trying to populate a source SQL table with fields from an Oracle db in ODI. I am trying to perform this using a procedure and I am am getting the following error:
    ODI-1226: Step PROC_1_Contract_Sls_Person_Lookup fails after 1 attempt(s).
    ODI-1232: Procedure PROC_1_Contract_Sls_Person_Lookup execution fails.

    Caused By: weblogic.jdbc.sqlserverbase.ddc: [FMWGEN][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'C2C_APP.CON_V'.
    My question is what is the best method to populate SQL db with data from an Oracle db? Using a procedure? A specific LKM?
    I found threads referring to using an LKM to populate Oracle tables with data from a SQL table....but nothing for the opposite.
    Any information would help.
    thanks,
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
    If using an Interface, I would recommend the LKM SQL to MSSQL (BULK) knowledge module. This will unload the data from Oracle into a file, then bulk load the staging db on the target using a BULK INSERT.

  • Moving from Oracle do SQL Server

    In my SAP instalation we are thinking to move from SAP/Oracle to SAP/SQL Server.
    What do you think about this ?
    The reason for this move is we have more knowledge in SQL Server Than Oracle.

    Especially the point about MaxDB - what makes you come to the conclusion, that it's not suited for "high transaction environments" (whatever you mean with that)?
    I have to say i am the same "old fashion" way.
    Our productive logistic system (ERP2005) is round about 3.5 TB and we have a SLA of the average response time with round about 900ms. I personally would never use MaxDB in this environment.
    Our main instance (ERP 2005) is 1.8 TB and we have an avg. repsonse time (ST03N) of 350 - 480 ms, depending on the load of the system. That database is growing about 2 - 4 GB each working day - and it´s running MaxDB
    I have to say that i have not much experience with MaxDB, but these few times i had to administrate the MaxDB instances - it was very "strange" to me, if you come out of the oracle world.
    I wouldn´t consider it "strange", it´s "install once and forget". If I see how much time I need to set up an Oracle database (install 10.2.0.1, patch 10.2.0.2, apply 40+ single patches where some of the merge patches uninstall already installed patches....) then I´m happy with my MaxDB
    The second part - the support: I have opened some MaxDB messages and also of course some Oracle ones.. and my personally impression is that the oracle support is much better. But this maybe different from customer to customer.
    I have never had any real issues with the MaxDB support - in contrary but as you said, this is all based on customer experience.
    If you have a LiveCache, then you have a MaxDB installation - it´s just a special pecularity but the base is a MaxDB and is handled as such.
