Can't add PDF's to iTunes

I cannot import PDF's into iTunes. When I either "Add to Library..." or drag the PDF into the "Books" section nothing happens. When I drag a PDF onto the "Books" section, the list area is surrounded by a blue box as if the file is going to be imported but nada.
Thoughts?

This probably isn't helpful, but what you did does work in 10.6 Snow Leopard.
I dragged one of my PDF eBooks into iTunes and it showed up in the Books section.
But when I clicked on it, it displayed it in Adobe Acrobat, just the same as if I'd clicked on the original file itself.
I don't see any advantatge to importing eBooks into iTunes, especially PDF eBooks ... unless you're syncing with an iPhone, I guess ... even then you'll need a good pdf viewer on the iPhone unless you convert the PDFs to ePubs.

Hello. i also got the same problem with the latest version of iTunes in Windows 7 & 8. The solution is actually simple, just press Ctrl + O (or File>>Add Files to Library) then select your PDF files then press OK.

Following numerous tries and un plugging iPad Mini and restarting iTunes, i searched for my iPad library in my home lib ray to discover the books i wanted to add are now in the iTunes Media folder (where my music is) but as unknown artist. I have separate libraries for my iPhone and another iPad and these show the books folder which seems to have disappeared from my iPad folder.
Also when trying to synchronize iTunes said it lost connection and could not save my iPad Mini numerous times.
Also the general info bar at the bottom of my iTunes window is now all confused as to the size and contents of my iPad Mini. I have about 25000 photos and it says i only have 235Mb of photos where it should be closer to 15 GB. The miscellaneous portion in that bar is rating this content at about 16Gb.
Can someone help ?

Connect the old phone to your computer, right click on it in iTunes, and choose Transfer Purchases. That should put all of your music in iTunes except any tracks that were not purchased from iTunes. If you have any such you will have to retrieve them from the original source, or see: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.
Apple also has this tip for copying data from an old phone to a new one.

Can't add m4a files in itunes

When I try to add m4a files in itunes it did not add it. Please help how can I add m4a files in itunes.

Further info: my housemate just drop-boxed (mac to mac) a few of his albums that work fine in his iTunes and the same thing, they'll show in a playlist with their correct details but not in the main library. iTunes is definitely processing after I add them, and they are definitely not corrupt (shown MP3 scan +repair) - I've attached a couple of pictures to clarify.
Please help! I'm a bit OCB about my music being organised correctly I'll admit!

Since 10.4 I can't add music files to iTunes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
iTunes seems to scan and add them in gray, but fails to add the files to iTunes.

Who knows the table name where i could add "pdf" as possible type of attachment to the workflow?
In a workflow step i want an agent to create an attachement.
When the user clicks the paperclip-icon he/she is presented a small screen, first requiring to select a document-type.
This has a dropdown list which in my system is prefilled with <ARC, BIN, OBJ, URL, RAW, SCR> all in capitals and <bmp, doc, hlp, mdb, mpp, ppt, rtf, sap, txt, wri, xls> all in lowercase.
My question is if I can add document type <pdf> to the list, and if so where to do that
(I have found table TSOTD which holds at least the first set <ARC etc> but i can not find a table that holds the full set.)
Any help would be appreciated.

I have the exact problem with this same iTunes version. However, I just did an experiment. It seems to be primarily limited to songs I've placed via FLAC files, which were "converted" using Fluke. Hmmm... Anyone have a fix for this?

How can I delete pdf's from iTunes?

I have a few pdf's in itunes that I don't need anymore. I have unchecked them so that they don't synce to my ipad or iphone, but i'm having lots of trouble deleting them entirely from itunes. When i open itunes I go to Devices and select which ever like ipad or iphone...then i go to Books. Once there at Books, there is a section with all my books and pdf's. I have tried everything but can't seem to figure out how to clear all the PDF clutter?

I've had the same problem as first posted. Tried the suggested solutions and none of them worked. I finally have found somethng that does work.
In iTunes v.11.0.1.12, I needed to get to the following screen before DELETE would work:
In the uppper LEFT corner select Books.
Then highlight/select the PDF file you wish to delete, and right click to get the menu to pop up.
Now, select DELETE from the menu.
