Can't add server to non-cluster pool
Hi all,
I created one non-clustered server pool, when tried to add the first server to the pool, it prompted one Error message as below:
"Initial server must include master role"
What does 'master role' of a server mean? I check the server properties, but not find similar property to configure its master role.
OVM manager:3.2.1
OVM server: 3.1.1
Thanks!

Can't add server to DAG cluster.
I have two servers in a cluster, but when I add our main mail server I get the following error.
All of the servers have two NIC's which the same configuration with two networks.
I can create a DAG with this server alone, but when I add another one, I get this message.
All three servers have the same DNS settings.

2. This is the server that cannot be added. Can only be added to a group itself:

Thanks,Add "Targets" attribute to the connection pool. You may
get an idea how it looks like by searching config.xml
for "targets". If target servers are not set, the pool won't be
deployed and can not be used to a create datasource.

Can I Add all the fields from POOL to EXTRACT Structure in LBWE
Dear Experts,
Our Client is asking to add all the fields in the POOL Table to EXTRACT STRUCTURE in LBWE that is he wants to add all the fields from Right Hand Side Table to Left Hand Side Table in the Maintenance of LBWE of all the SD Data Sources. For few fields there is no data even though they are saying that in the nearer future we are going to use all most all fields.
Like wise they are asking to add all the tables like VBAP, VBUP, VBAK, VBKD, VBUK, etc.,
My Questions are:
1.Is it advisable or recommended to add all the fields from POOL to Extract Structure because client desperately needs them.
2.Is there any performance issue when we add the fields from POOL to Extract Structure at the time of extracting data from R/3 to BI.
Regards,
Sai PhaniHi Sai,
1.Is it advisable or recommended to add all the fields from POOL to Extract Structure because client desperately needs them.
we can add all the fields from the POOL to Extract Structure, if really your business requires to pull all the data.
2.2.Is there any performance issue when we add the fields from POOL to Extract Structure at the time of extracting data from R/3 to BI.
Ofcourse, there will be performance matters, because we have to extract maximum number fields data to BI side. If we have data for all the fields in R/3, we may face performance problems like load takes long time.
Hope this helps.

Can't add VM to Failover Cluster Manager
I have two VMs: a virtual DC and a virtual SCVMM. I opened up a Failover Cluster Manager and tried to add both machines. The DC added successfully but I can't get the SCVMM to add.
The error is:
"There was a failure configuring the virtual machine role for '<my_machine_name>'
The RASD '\\<cluster>\\root\virtualization\V2:Msvm_ResourceAllocationSettingData.InstanceID="Microsoft:BBA1664E-07AB-41FA-B3B4-DBA795117449\\663F3FFA-8784-4E92-9A9B-99FC3D705BAC\\0\\0\\D" is not a valid disk type."
I have no idea what this error is trying to tell me...any help would be greatly appreciated!Thank you for your response.
I double-checked and the VM is located on the shared cluster container. I went into Hyper-V Manager and looked at the paths and both the virtual machine and virtual hard disks are in the cluster container.
I have two VM XML files in the cluster container which I've noted with their GUIDs. For a sanity check, I also went into the specific host and navigated to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\Virtual Machines and found that the same XML files
there too. Should those be there? They are both there so I don't see why I could add the virtual DC but not my virtual SCVMM. -
Can't add Server 2012 to existing domain
I'm getting this error:
"Verification of replica failed. The forest functional level is Windows 2000. To install Windows Server 2012 domain or domain controller, the forest functional level must be Windows Server 2003."
My forest level is set at 2008R2, per AD Domains and Trusts (on both the 08 servers and 2012). The forest was set at 2003 before, so I demoted the old 2003 server and raised it to 2008 with no luck, then went ahead and went to 2008R2.
The 2012 server (clean install, no upgrades) is already a member of the domain.
adprep /forestprep reports "forest wide information has already been updated"
Connectivity seems to be fine (ping, no firewalls) between the 2 08R2 DCs and the new 2012 server. Weird thing is all the AD tools are installed in 2012, and I can even create new domain users from it.Hello,
You dont need manual schema upgarde for adding a new windows 2012 Domain controller. That is integrated with dcpromotion. Also you dont required the DCPROMO.
Set DFL & FFL minimum 2003.
See the below link for adding a 2012 DC for an existing domain.
Install a Replica Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller in an Existing Domain (Level 200)
As with previous versions of Windows Server, automated domain preparation for domain controllers that run Windows server 2012 does not run GPPREP. Run
adprep.exe /gpprep manually for all domains that were not previously prepared for Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Server 2008 R2. You should run GPPrep only once in the history of a domain, not with every upgrade. Adprep.exe
does not run /gpprep automatically because its operation can cause all files and folders in the SYSVOL folder to re-replicate on all domain controllers.
Still if you are facing issue. please upload the below outputs in skydrive & share us the link.

First I would like to congratulate the archlinux community and founders for such a great distribution and more importantly a well documented distribution. I am amazed by how quickly I have I have been able to get my system up and running exactly how I want it and how quickly the wiki's and documentation provided the answers I needed without me needing to ask for any assistance.
My question is a simply one. Currently Cups will not allow me to add a printer without using the root user and password and ideally I would like to use my normal login. I can sudo fine it is just cups that seems to need root.lifeafter2am wrote:
ANOKNUSA wrote:CUPS, like *nix itself, was designed with administrators setting up networked printers in mind. If you're a member of the lp group, you can print as a regular user. I don't see using a root password just once to add a printer as a serious issue (Torvalds is notorious for thinking that his unswaying opinion should dictate how everything in the *nix world operates; the guy's been distro- and DE-hopping for years, and always makes sure that everyone knows when he dislikes something and why).
I only posted it because it was timely, since the whole blog-o-sphere is talking about it.
Yeah, I wasn't passing any judgement. The guy just seems to overestimate how integral he and his opinion are to fields beyond kernel hacking. I stopped paying attention a long time ago; I actually didn't even know he left Fedora behind until this afternoon. -
Error - add Server to the Server pool - VM Manager/Server 3.1.1
Hello,
1) I installed VM Manager 3.1.1 (IP: 192.168.1.51)
2) installed VM Server 3.1.1 (ovs-5e-94-c1) (IP: 192.168.1.22)
3) Created a Server pool (Virtual IP : 192.168.1.80) and option Clustered Server Pool unchecked
4) discovered VM Server moved in the Unassigned Servers folder
5) created Network 192.168.1.0 with all options checked (Server management, Live migrate, Cluster Heartbeat, Virtual machine, Storage)
5) but I can't add Server to the Server pool, I get the following error message?
I understand it may be a problem of unknown hostname, but I don't know what to add to the etc/hosts file on the manager or the server?

Edited by: user13609132 on 2 juil. 2012 10:38Thanks DBagy, it's working fine!
1) I installed VM Manager 3.1.1 (IP: 192.168.1.51)
2) installed VM Server 3.1.1 (name: ovs-5e-94-c1) (IP: 192.168.1.22)
3) Created a Server pool (name: PRQ1 and Virtual IP : 192.168.1.80) and option Clustered Server Pool unchecked
4) discovered VM Server moved in the Unassigned Servers folder
5) created Network 192.168.1.0 with all options checked (Server management, Live migrate, Cluster Heartbeat, Virtual machine, Storage)
Solution: 6) Add to /etc/hosts of the OVM Server the line : 192.168.1.22 ovs-5e-94-c1
7) In VM Manager: add VM server ovs-5e-94-c1 to Server pool PRQ1 --> Completed. -
We have a MSSQL 2008R2 Enterprise edition with a two node active passive fail-over cluster running on 2008R2 windows cluster with out any issues,
Now my question is can we add one more MSSSQL cluster instance for the same setup with out disturbing the existing one ?
Also give thoughts on load sharing as the second node is mostly ideal now except fail-over scenarios,
Why we go for this situation is because of the collation setting which can be set only one per instance(Database collation setting change not working), we need a different default collation for the new setuphi,
>>Now my question is can we add one more MSSSQL cluster instance for the same setup with out disturbing the existing one ?
Yes it is possible .You need to add new drives as cluster aware and install SQL server and put data and log files on thse drives.YOu would need to create named instance of SQL server and need to create different resource group. Both old installation and new
onw would work separately.
>>Also give thoughts on load sharing as the second node is mostly ideal now except fail-over scenarios,
Good point indeed. You are about to create Multi instance cluster and should plan for scenario where one node is down and other node is handling load for both instances.Memory and CPU should be enough to handle the load.
>>Why we go for this situation is because of the collation setting which can be set only one per instance(Database collation setting change not working), we need a different default collation for the new setup .
Just for collation if you are installing new instance seems little wierd to me.You can manage collation at column ,database and at server level.

Cluster - Non-cluster aware application
Hi everyone,
I need to migrate some non-cluster aware application from windows server 2003 to windows server 2008 R2 or windows server 2012.
On windows server 2003, the cluster service start with a specific domain user to let some access.
I have seen some solutions like "RUNAS" in cmd or a powershell script or VBS.
But my problem is:
How can i start or create non-cluster aware application with user domain access and with "clean work" ?
ThanksWindows services are installed with an associated account. You can define that to be whatever you want, either a local machine account, local system account, or a domain account.
To make it much, much easier than was possible with clustering in 2003, Windows Server 2012 (suggest using R2) comes with a cluster role of Generic Service.

----------Due to the fact that Oracle VM Release 3.1.1 does support shared SAS storage (SAS SAN)
I created a partition, share it by NSF and placed there ovspoolfs.img ... access to this partition is at all servers ...
You can mount it manually, but when you try to enter a server in the cluster, OVMM write that the partition is mounted on a different path

How to add VM guest in VM pool from OV Server .
In case of non availability of OVM-Manager I have created virtual server using virt-install command.
Now the problem is how do i add the guest in a particular virtual pool. Is there any specific command for adding a vm in virtual pool using ovm server and not ovm manager?user10373165 wrote:

Even the OVMCLI utility requires the Manager to be online. So, while the Manager is offline, your existing guests will continue, including supporting any HA configuration for those guests, but you will not be able to add new guests to the pool or modify any pool configuration until the Manager comes back online.
To ensure that your Oracle VM Manager is always available, I recommend checking out the "[Using Oracle Clusterware to Protect Oracle VM Manager|http://www.oracle.com/technologies/virtualization/docs/ovm-clusterware-whitepaper.pdf]" whitepaper. -
Can't add drivers to Server 2012 R2 boot image in WDS
Hi all.
I want to use my "old" Windows Server 2012 (not R2), WDS to deploy new R2 servers but i can't add driver package to the R2 boot image, it comes out with error code: 0xc0000135 no matter what drivers i use.
Without network drivers i can't boot the image on my physical servers, i've tried on a virtual machine where it works just fine.
I can't use the old boot image to install R2, then it comes with error: "Windows could not apply unattend settings during pass [offlineServicing]." when it tries to install it on both virtual and physical servers.
My initial thought is that the WDS server has to be on a R2 server but i can't find anything that proofs that.
Can someone confirm that non R2 WDS is not supported to R2 or does anyone have an idea to a solution?
Thank you in advance.Okay maybe not a solution but i installed a new WDS server on R2 and then there was no problem adding driver package to to boot image.
So i was able to confirm my theory that it's not supported to deploy R2 from a non-R2 WDS server. If anyone can make it work please let me know but until then i think this is the only way.
If I understand your description of the issue, the problem is that you are trying to update a WinPE 5.0 WIM with a version of the ADK that services WinPE 4.0 images. Installing the new Windows Server 2012 R2 server caused SCCM to use the version of the
ADK that services WinPE 5.0 images. You should be able to deploy them fine from the other server, but you can only service them from the new one. You will not be able to service the older WinPE 4.0 images from the new server either. -
Cannot add server to pool: OVMAPI_4004E, but hostname set to FQDN
It's very simillar problem like thread "Cannot Add Server to Pool: OVMAPI_4010E Attempt to send command: dispatch..", but setting
hostname with FQDN on Ora VM Manager and Ora VM Server, repairing all configuration files (using grep -R ...) and reboot OVM
server and OVMM didn't brought any effect...
Environment:
Oracle VM Server version 3.2.2
Build: 520
Oracle VM Manager:
Version: 3.2.2.520
Build: 20130218_520
Description:
I have discovered and setup an OVM Server. Then I tried to create a new pool "ikr-pool". When I tried to attach discovered server ("srv01-xx.cssz.cz"),
I got error attached bellow. After this actions svr01-xx stays incorrectly as "member of pool" in /etc/ovs-agent/db/server database, so I need on VM server
to stop ovs-agent, remove file /etc/ovs-agent/db/server, start ovs-agent again, and then re-take ownership on VM server again. Then srv01-xx stays
as "Unassigned server".

<-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------End of error message----------------------------------------------------------------------------->Solved. Problem was the same like in thread "I/O error while communicating with HTTP server: Connection timed out" - it wasn't accessible IP connection between Ora VM Manager and Ora VM server IP alias for server pool. But there was very confusing message in errorlog: "dispatch https://?uname?:[email protected]:8899/api/3 set_pool_member_ip_list [10.20.11.11], Status: org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: I/O error while communicating with HTTP server: Connection timed out [Thu Mar 28 14:36:30 CET 2013]". Noticed IP address was IP address for VM server, not for VM pool, which makes me quite angry.
