Can't associate wav files - help

Hi All
I have some .wav files (podcasts from university) and every time I try to play one it opens in itunes unless I do 'open with... quicktime'.
I would like to associate the .wav files with quicktime (or other audio player than itunes) permanently, so that I don't have to do 'open with...' for every file.
I've tried changing the quicktime MIME settings but that doesn't work. Can someone help?????

MIME Settings are for browser based files.
Locate one of your .wav files and single click (Control click) to open the Get Info window.
Change the default "Open with:" app to QuickTime Player and then click the "Change All..." button and confirm your change.

  • Can't associate .pdf files as Acrobat, opens Distiller instead

I can't associate .pdf files as Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. Instead, opens it opens Acrobat Distiller. When I go to the file association in the Control Panel, it doesn't even show Adobe Acrobat as a program. So I browse & find it & select the Adobe.exe file in the program files in Adobe Acrobat directory, but it does not work. Help!

I used the Adobe.exe file as the file association to open the .pdf files, but it still does not open Adobe Acrobat & opens the file with Adobe Distiller instead & I don't know why. I can only open the files from within the Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional software, but not from file manager or by using explore. I am using Windows Vista as the operating system.

  • I can't transfer WAV files to my zen mi

    i can't transfer WAV files to my micro.please help!i have .0.03 firmware

I'm not an expert on this, but to my knowledge there's a variety of (similar) "coding formats" that all fit under the "WAV" file format. Windows XP comes with the intelligence to play all/most of these. But perhaps the Micro only knows a (popular) subset?
That said, it may be interesting to find out the exact details of these WAV files. I _imagine_ there are tools around that analyze WAV files.

  • How can I associat ".swf" files with flashlite 2.1

How can I associate ".swf" files with flashlite 2.1? When I
install flash lite 2.0,it can do ---- click .swf files system can
autoly use flashlite to play. But now I install flashlite 2.1,it
lost this ability return as "unknow files formate".
Now,how can I reassociate ".swf" with flashlite 2.1?
first: I must use flashlite 2.1.
second:I must click .swf file directly.
I know another way to open :open the player and then find the
.swf, and open it. But ,unfortunately,I can not use this way to
open. Now I will be looking for another way.

unfortunately, the 2.1 developer edition you have installed
has not overwritten the original version integrated into the
symbian OS by the manufacturer. This means that the only way to
open the 2.1 files is to open the 2.1 player from your apps menuu,
and click on the swf file. You will only get direct access if the
updated player is in a firmware update for you handset.

  • Can iPod play WAV files

I have the All Music Converter and have converted some of my iPod music files to WAV. However, I can't get iTunes to accept the files. Can iPod play WAV files? Does anyone know how to get them to transfer into iTunes? Thank you.

Uncompressed WAV files are on the list of compatible formats, has there been any compression applied to the files you have converted?

  • Burning WAV files- HELP

    New mac user here
I need help with this as soon as possible please, I have a deadline-
And this MAC is killing me, I am running into problems all over the place
    Long story short
1- I sent a drum loop from garageband to itunes
2- I converted the AIFF drum loop audio file to WAV with Itunes
3- I burned the WAV file to a CD-R and tried to import the file to my mixer but it does not read it( it only reads WAV files)
I am stuck, my question is-
can itunes write to ISO9660 data disk?
    How do I do this?
If not what are my other options, how do I do this?
Any step by step guide would be greatly appreciated

iTunes can burn three types of disks.
Audio CDs (to play in a traditional CD player)
MP3 CDs (to play in newer CD players which can also play MP3 tracks)
    and
    Data disks (CD or DVD)
An audio CD would certainly not be what you want, but a Data disk might. I suggest you use a CD-RW (which you can erase and re-try with if necessary).
Alternatively, there is another way. In stead of using iTunes to burn the disk do the following.
    1. Insert a blank CD
    2. drag the WAV file on to it
    3. Burn the disk
This will burn an ISO standard CD with your WAV file on it.

  • Can't Associate AE File Types

I am running Adobe Creative Suites CS4 for my company. However, we had a file we needed to open so we also installed After Effects CS5.5.
However, now all the AE files open in CS5.5 and this doesn't work for us as our plugsin are installed in CS4. I've tried several times in Windows 7 to associate AE files back to CS4.I've tried through the Control Panel under Default Programs and the right click context menu by "Open With". The problem is when I nativate to the After Effects.exe for CS4, it WILL NOT load in the Windows menu to allow me to re-associate it. The only option remains CS 5.5.
Any way I can perhaps manualy associate these files by doing some kind of edit in the Registry?
    Thanks!

See this or that on how to change icons for associated file types in Windows 7 or just do a Google search...
Bear in mind that the location of file you may want to pick an icon from is
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\AfterFX.exe

  • Can't open wav file: "unsupported format or damaged file". OSX.

It plays fine in quicktime, itunes, etc. Clean install of Soundbooth CS4 on OSX.
Any ideas greatly appreciated. Don't want to go back to client and say "sorry, I can't load this totally fine wav file, can you redo it please".
    jamie

ffmpeg via mac ports did the trick.
    ffmpeg -i messedup.wav worksfine.aif
For some reason ffmpeg crashed when I tried to just save it as mp3. Ah, wait, even better:
    ffmpeg -i messedup.wav -acodec copy worksfine.mp3
Now if only there was a way to run a shell script in Bridge... Anyone?

  • Can't play WAV file email link

We use a third party calling system for our business that records all calls and forwards any messages to our email as a link to a WAV file. If I try to click the link it launches Quicktime on my iPhone but gives me the "Cannot Play Movie" with "Movie could not be played" underneath the first error message.
Strangely, if I download the WAV file on my computer and email it to myself it plays just fine as an attachment on the iPhone, so I know it is not a WAV format issue.
The problem is that our drivers all have iPhones and don't have the means in the field to download the WAV file, they have to be able to launch it directly from the link.
Unfortunately our vendor doesn't have a method for sending the WAV as an attachment, only as a link.
    Any ideas on this?
    Thanks in advance.

We too have the same problem with Voicemail attachments from our phone system, they get delivered to our users Exchange 2003 mailboxes, but on the iPhone they won’t play. If we transfer the file manually or send them to an external (POP3) mailbox they work fine then on the iPhone!
I’ve noticed that the attachment size according to the iPhone is only a few bytes which is obviously wrong, so it looks like it’s not correctly reading the attachment properly when using Exchange (As it works with my home account OK).
Can anyone shed any light on this problem?
    Thanks

  • Blackberry 8330 - can't play wav files - Red X and "unknown error occured"

I have a client that started having an issue with her blackberry after we moved to BES Express 5.02.  Her .wav file association on her computer was changed so she couldn't play .wav files on her PC.  Then she stated getting a red X on her phone when trying to listen to the Cisco unity voice mail messages that are attached to emails.
I was able to correct the issue on her PC by re-associating the .wav file with windows media player.   However on the blackberry, the .wav file still will not play.  Is there a file association section on a blackberry device?  If not what else might be the issue?   she is the only person having the issue.  I don't use a blackberry so i don't know the menu options very well.
    Thanks
    Steve.
    P.S.
Oh, The phone was factory reset before being added to the new BES, Service books and IT policy Applied correctly.   I could pull the phoen and reset it again but I don't know if that would correct the issue.

Hi - I am now having this same exact problem on my Mac laptop.   I have many Breaking Bad, etc TV shows that I purchased through itunes & have watched over the years & now all of those, as well as, any new shows I purchase will not play on my laptop.    Just same as above person -- a black screen that appears to be playing movie (the timer is actually playing)  but no video or sound.    Shows / Movies all work fine on my home computer.
On my laptop it keeps saying .. "Not authorized to play .... & then says  "Sign into Itunes.. "   - but I  do sign out & sign  back in & still nothing happens.   Very annoying and frustrating as I  can ususlly figure things out with perserverence and trial & error.

  • Can't associate PSD file with Photoshop CC in Win 7!

I just updated from Photoshop CS6 to CC. All of the file types I had associated with CS6 reverted to a default image program. When I attempted to associate these files, including photoshop psd files, win7 refused to recognize CC as a program I could associate files with! Has anyone else had this issue? Solution?
    Thanks so much
    Bill

By any chance did you un-install CS6 after installing CC.  Adobe un-installers have always been a problem for me and I have stopped using them.. Now  I just wipe out older Photoshop versions install tree and remove its un-install entries in windows registry.  What I think may have happened if you did un-install CS6 after installing CC is. The CS6 un-install restore the file association it had updated to the applications that were in effect before CS6 was installed. Even though CS6 associations had been updated by the CC install to CC. So the associations reverted back to your very old associations.  When you installed CC the second time the install updated you file associations again.

  • Can't get .wav file to play on my iPhone

Would anyone know how to fix my iPhone, so when i get a voice email message (voice-message.wav)It says "This movie could not be played" it is not a movie it is a .wav file in Quicktime??
    thanks

As far as I am aware, iPhone will support MPEG -4 video, MP3 and AAC audio formats.
I have had voicemail messages, though not through email, all played fine on my iPhone.

  • Can't import WAV files into iTunes

I have ripped most of my music to WAV files but iTunes refuses to import them. Neither the add folder function, the add file function, nor the drag and drop will add them. It does absolutely nothing.
Anybody know how to get around this problem?

It's not altering the file. It's simply playing back different.
    iTunes prefs -> Playback.
Untick Sound Check, Sound Enhancer and Cross Fade playback.
Go to menu View -> Show Equalizer and set it to Off.

  • Can't open fcp file-HELP!!!

after working on a tracksheet with no problems for a month it suddenly won't open - at about 27% open, it stops loading and i get general error (41) -
any ideas? HELP!!!!!!! - I've GOT to get in this thing!
    thx!

Its some sort of corruption. You can try trashing your renders.
You can also try saving a copy of your project to your desktop and unmount your drive(s) which contain your media and scratch discs (renders folder, capture scratch, etc...)
Then try to open your copy of the project file. It will probably open and tell you the files arfe offline. Mount your drive(s) and reconnect your files one at a time or in small groups. If its a corrupt media you should get the error when you reconnect it.
