Can't Complete Download Of New Mac OS.
I have been trying all day so far to download the new Mac operating system (OS X Mountain Lion) to my MacBook Air via wi-fi. It sticks at 53.25MB out of 4.34GB and won't move.
I am a BT residential and domestic customer and I am appalled at the useless telephone support. I have been passed from pillar to post, put in endless queues, spoken to people whose English I cannot comprehend and finally given up.
Can anyone on this forum help me get my download completed?

I've had the same problem myself with my own and other MacBooks, iMacs and MacMinis. Although I am a domestic user, I have a BT 2-Wire business hub which copes with the the dreadful rural telecoms infrastructure in my neck of the woods. It seems that the 2-Wire is the problem.
Following a lead I found on the internet, I've just replaced the 2-Wire with a Netgear router and the problem has gone away. The download is now well passed the 53.25 Mb level - 302.46Mb and counting.
Pity it is going to take an estimated 22 hours to complete the download though!

Before upgrading be sure you do the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Tiger Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Make a backup of your current system. -
Question: The desktop on which I had Lightroom and PhotoshopCC installed failed and I no longer have access to it. How do I deactivate the software on those machines so that I can reinstall it on my new Mac?
Absolutely - but I had no idea there were two versions. When I got my new laptop I just went to the Adobe site to download and install LR5. It never asked if I had a license; it just directed me to install CC to start a trial which I thought I could license after downloading. Several sessions and many hours of looking through the forums and Google for an answer I never ran across anything that made this distinction. I still haven't found a path from www.adobe.com that would get me to the standalone download page (it's probably there, wasn't obvious to me) and looking at the download page it doesn't make any CC/standalone distinction.
There are many places I could have gotten a hint - for instance the license could be tagged "stand alone edition", the CC-version could recognize the stand-alone key and either accept it or produce a more meaningful error message, or the download site or the CC app could ask if I had previously purchased a key, etc.
It was my error to assume this was a deactivation problem, but it looked the same as a previous deactivation problem with Photoshop.

Select your My Book Studio for Mac icon on your Desktop and type Command + i to bring up its Info pane. Check the formatting. It should look like this:
If it's not formatted as such you'll need to reformat it after backing up what's on there now.

Like Snow Leopard, Lion does not support PowerPC-based Macs (e.g., Power Macs, PowerBooks, iBooks, iMacs (G3-G5), eMacs).
Lion also does not support 32-bit Intel Core Duo or Core Solo based Macs. Rosetta is no longer available in Lion, which means Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications. -
I have an old version of the Logic in cds. Can I just download a new version and give the serial number so I don't have to pay twice?
No..
You cannot download any version of Logic that you bought on CDs.... You must reinstall it using the disks that came with the boxed set.
The only downloadable version now is Logic Pro X....which, like everyone else.... you must buy via the App Store... as it is a new version and there is no upgrade from any other version. -
Why can't I download the new itunes update? It only downloads halfway then says there is an invalid signature.
Been having that problem myself. Just click on this link http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/ and download it from there. It worked for me. Hope this helps.

What software can I use on my new Mac that no longer supports "AppleWorks"? To easily transfer my database for mailmerge.
Two thoughts:
(1) It is possible that your Adobe software was the result of belonging to a now-discontinued Adobe Print Service Provider program where for a certain annual membership fee, print service providers were provided with (a) both a Windows and Macintosh license to the Adobe print-oriented software products (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat) and (b) special direct product support as well as the ability to put your name on Adobe's website as a member of this program. The program ended over a year ago if I remember correctly.
(2) You may wish to contact Adobe Customer Support (not Technical Support) and see if they can track down any and all licenses associated with your company. If you have the names of the former employees who worked with this software, it would be helpful. Likewise, if you were a member of the discontinued Adobe Print Service Provider program, you may have some options for upgrading/updating the software you have.
Unfortunately, you cannot get any more definitive information about your situation on these forums.

I just downloaded the new Mac OS X v10.7 Lion, and now when I go on the Mac Store to download a game (N.O.V.A 2) it goes straight to the Launch Pad, as it's supposed to, but the game it's self wont download, it just keeps saying "waiting" I never had this problem before, any ideas?
I'm connected through my Sky Wifi, it's extremely quick, and I don't have any problems with it. Yes it asked me for my Account Email, and password as normal, then it did that little annimation where it flys into the Launch Pad, then it's saying "waiting" where it should be saying downloading.
