Can't connect my 2.1 sound system to my TV

I have my Element ELFDW406 connected to the (RCA) Audio Output on my TV. My TV speakers are still on, and no signal seems to be going to the 2.1 Sound System from the Audio Out on the TV. This TV has no headphone jack which I used on other TVs for the sound system.
I cannot find anything in the menu via the remote that lets you shut off the TV speakers and switch the audio out via the RCA output. Any Ideas?

Hi Ronrak,
I’m not familiar with Element TVs having never actually worked with one before. From what I could find online, it sounds like you’re using the Element ELDFW406 and it looks like you’ve posted this in several other spots online without any success.
The Element website doesn’t have a manual listed for this model, but I was able to find a similar one in the series (ELDFW322) that should give me a better picture of what you’re looking at.
From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t sound like that model of TV has an option for RCA out and instead offers a Coaxial Audio output (S/PDIF) exclusively.
I can’t give a definitive answer though as I'm not able to find accurate information on your specific model. I might be able to recommend a solution to you, and I ask that you provide me with some quick information.
A list of all inputs/outputs on the back of your TV. (They don’t need to be in order, just tell me what each input/output is labeled as).
The model number of your sound system (or a list of inputs/outputs)
With this, I should hopefully be able to give you a better answer than “just use the remote”

  • Macbook aluminum, connecting audio to surround sound system. HELP!!

    Hi,
I'm tryna connect sound running from my macbook to my home cinema kit. the sound system has a fiber optic input. so im trying to connect the sound via digital means. can you tell me what cables i need. I saw the fiber optic cables and i no the headphone jack can support fiber cable, but can some one tell me what piece i need to connect to my cable so i can stick it in the headphone jack of the mac.
    Hope this make's sense.

The headphone jack on the MacBook is a combined analog and digital optical port. Since it's the 3.5mm size, if you want to connect it to your sound system via a digital optical audio cable, you'll also need what's known as a mini-SPDIF to SPDIF adapter or cable. It looks like there's a cable with an adapter available at the UK online Apple store. If you already have a cable, you may be able to find one of the adapters at a local electronics store. They're usually available at a Radio Shack in the U.S., for example.

  • Can my macbook pro connect to jvc thd60 sound system if so how

i bought a minidisplay port to hdmi cable. i plugged both parts in and havent had any luck getting sound. im not even sure if the sound system wll even play on a mac. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Yes your Mac can connect to the system through the Digital (Optical) Audio In port on the JVC.
Mac's stereo mini output jack  doubles as a stereo mini optical port, just have to enable it when the cable is attached in the System Preferences.
All you need is a stereo mini optical to optical cable (aka Toslink) adapter and Toslink optical cable to the receiver.
The Mac can pass multi-channel sound through, it doesn't decode surround sound formats, but the receiver does.
Also if your receiver can take the 2.0 channel of iTunes stereo music and process into 4.1 sound, would make for a nice experience.
Also, if you get a Airport Express or Extreme, you can almost do away with the optical cable and enable AirTunes in Airport Utility on the router, then use a optical cable from that to the JVC.
But I think it only works with iTunes, unless you install some third party software hack from Ambrosia that allows all Mac audio through.
    Enjoy.

  • Connect HP PAvilion to Sound System

HiI have a dv7t-7000 laptop. I'd like to hook it up to the same sound system I use for my TV & DVD player.  Does anyone have thoughts on the best way to do that?   My one HDMI port is already used to connect to my TV.   I don't have an audio card(??) but I'd be willing to get one.   I have  a head phone jack.  If my sound system had an AUX Audio jack, I'm sure I could connect those with a (stereo?) cable.   Embarrassing, but I don't even know if I have blue tooth.  If I did, that might be a way to go?  I'd love to hear any ideas or suggestions. Thanks!

  • Connect Macbook PRO house sound system via IPOD adaptor

I want to connect my Macbook PRO via USB to IPod dock adaptor on whole house sound system w/IPOD adaptor. Any suggestions for adaptors with USB to IPOD-like port?  In other words one end of the cable needs USB (for Mac) and the other needs to look the internal mating part of the IPOD.

My goal was to stream Pandora
So either get Pandora for iPhone or iPod Touch and dispense with the MBP, or get AirPhones and stream from the MBP to the system via iPod.
Your primary problem is not finding a cable, but finding a hardware or software device that will make the MPB behave like an iPod, which is quite a different kettle of fish.
If you're not tied to the dock, then check your system's audio inputs. You could connect your MBP to it, or you could get AirPort Express with AirPlay for w/less streaming.

  • HT6067 How can I connect 5.1 surround sound speakers to my Mac Pro?

How to connect 5.1 surround sound speakers without a receiver to my Mac Pro, so I can test and hear surround sound files I am creating?

As far as I know, the only way to do that is with the digital out, toslink I believe(1). . Currently there are very few external usb soundcards that are known to work with Mac and produce 5.1 sound, perhaps Diamond Multimedia or Zalman?. Analog surround really doesn't work (green, yellow, black cords)*. So, maybe, Garage band/VLC? or the dvd player might be the only things I know that could produce 5.1 sound, but I could be wrong.......
    (1) You will  need a speaker set with an optical input...
    * maybe try this--i think it's called an " HD audio rush " box and it converts digital to analog audio 5.1 supposedly-, you can look on ebay for similar things
sorry I couldn't be of more help

  • Connection to Honda automobile sound system

Since 2010, I have been able to connect my iPhones (original, 3 and 5) through the 16-pin/lightning connector to my 2010 Honda automobile's USB slot. I've always been able to then use the steering wheel control buttons and automobile touch screen to search songs, albums, playlists, etc. Since upgrading to iOS 8.02, none of the automobile controls work.  I have to use the iPhone's controls, which makes me take my eyes off the road and hands off the steering wheel to unlock the phone, access the music and select what to play. This is not an acceptable way of using the phone or automobile's sound system. Is there a correction for this? If not, is it being included in the next (hopefully soon) update?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hello cfgarcia1,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where you are unable to control your iPhone with your steering wheel controls please follow the troubleshooting steps in the article below.

  • My SLD is configured in SOLMAN sys, How can I connect it with SAP PI system

    Dear Friends
My Basis has configured SLD in Solman, Now I cant use SXMB_IFR tcode in my PI that suggest me some error. saying "error in connection cant read secure connection config" or something like that.  Plus SLDCHECK tcode is also not happy. it suggest that RFC connections are missing.
It is clear that My SLD is not linked with PI system. something is missing in technical system part and its not even bridged. but since I am not a BASIS guy I dont know How can I configure it. Not even my BASIS guy understands that I need to bring SOLMAN SLD to PI.
Can anyone suggests me How can I bring my SOLMAN SLD to PI system so I can run SXMB_IFR tcode ? I need to create some rfc connection like LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI but dont know the connection type like t, or something else. Please englight me by suggesting How can I bring my SOLMAN SLD to PI.
One intresting observation is when I try to run my SLD over url using PI system as host it comes but says SLD is not configured properly and when I did the same practice with SOLMAN host it works fine and I didnt receive any error.
Please reply me. your any help will be appreciated greatly.
    Regards
    Naeem

    Hi,
Preferebly PI should have it's own SLD. And SOLMAN could use PI's SLD.
Please check Installation guide and SLD Administration Guide from Service Market place before finalizing SLD architecture in your System landscape.
I guess SOLMAN will have only one Instance in system landscape. (Not three system landscape like Dev, Qa, Prod).
If you want to go ahead with your current SLD plan, then Change your SLD hostname in Exchange Profile of PI, to SOLMAN Host name.

  • Can I connect a USB 2 sound card to a Macbook equipped only with USB 3 ports?

    Hello,
I just learned I might have to purchase a new Macbook because my USB ports are fried and I was looking at purchasing a refurbished Macbook pro from 2012:
    http://store.apple.com/ca/product/FD101LL/A/refurbished-133-inch-macBook-pro-25g hz-dual-core-intel-i5
the only trouble is I make music with a MOTU Audio Express sound card, and it only has a USB 2 port and a bus-powered Firewire (which I don't like using since it hasn't been too reliable in the past).
    http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/audio-express/summary.html
Unfortunately, it seems that the Macbook I'm looking into purchasing only has USB 3 ports, and I looked for info on USB 3->USB 2 adapters online and this simply doesn't seem to exist. The only info I managed to find on this subject was this little bit on the Apple website:
Can a USB 2 cable be used to connect a USB 3 device to my computer?
If the device end of the cable fits into the connector on the device, yes. However, because it has fewer wires, you won't get USB 3 speed and power may be limited to 500 mA.
does this mean that I can connect a USB 2 cable from the USB 2 port of the MOTU sound card to the USB 3 port on the Macbook? I'm OK with the power and the speed being limited to USB 2 power, I just want to make sure I can actually use my sound card with this new Macbook.
    Thanks!

I think I'm understanding this a bit more now.
Here is the cable that I use:
    http://www.amazon.ca/USB-Cable-Type-Male-Black/dp/B00183I7EE
The Type A part is the one that I'm currently putting into the Macbook and the Type B part goes in the sound card.
Would this work with a USB 3.0 port on the Macbook?
Thanks for your time and patience...

  • Can't connect to a SAP backend system via portal/web dynpro/JCo destination

    Scenario:
Can't successfully set the JCo destination.. Always got a Java exception..
    Solution:
Use the router string "/H/sapserv3/S/3296/H/", instead of
    "/H/sapserv3.wdf.sap.corp/S/3296/H/".
This looks like a bug in portal NW2004s SP9.

Sorry for the delay, but I was not able to get access to this system until this afternoon.  I ran the ARP command you suggested on the server, and it did return the correct IP and MAC address values for the problem workstation.
I then ran IPCONFIG/displaydns on the server.  There was a record there for the problem workstation.  The "record name" matched the machine name correctly.  However, the "A <Host> Record" value was for the wrong IP address (192.168.1.4
rather than the actual workstation IP of 192.168.1.7).  This could certainly explain why I am not able to RWA/RDP to the machine by name, although I can make an internal RDP connection via IP address.
Could you please tell me what I need to do to repair this problem?  Should I run IPCONFIG/flushdns on the server?
    Thanks again for your assistance.
