Can't connect to WebDAV server via Go:Connect to Server

Setting up remote access on a ReadyNAS duo (posted over in NetGear's forums, too, but this seems more like an Apple issue), using WebDAV.
I can connect via a browser, but can't connect from the finder.
I'm using an address in the format https://0.0.0.0/directoryName -- I get a dialog for user and password, and it correctly authenticates, but then immediately gives me the following error: "You cannot connect to this server because it cannot be found on the network. Try again later or try a different URL."
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

It depends upon how the other machines are connecting to your MBA:
If the the other machines are also using wi-fi, they can connect directly to the wireless access point (router) without going through your MBA
If the other machines are connecting to the MBA using ethernet you can share your wi-fi connection to them

  • Why do I get error "The LDAP server is unavailable" while connecting to external domain via sync connection in SharePoint UPSA ?

    Hello,
I am trying to connect to external domain via UPS Account having "Replicate Directory changes" permission on external domain while creating sync connection in UPSA.
I have checked below URLS :

And looks like its network connectivity issue - and hence I have verified that port 389 is open by infra team.
Note : I am able to connect to local AD , does it make sense that port is not open for external domain ?
Can anyone please let me know what can be the issue ?
Your help will be highly appreciated as I am struggling to fix this issue since  quite long time but no luck yet.
    Thank you in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Dipti Chhatrapati

    Hi Dipti,
If you have Two-Way trust relationship then not sure if you have tried below:
Create a folder on the SharePoint server
Go to Folder properties - Security tab
Try adding user of the external domain on the folder
Please let us know if you are able to add the user or not. If you are able to add then it means that the connection and trust is proper and you should be able to create sync connection in UPA without any issues or else there is some issue with the connectivity
or the trust which is configured.
Please also make sure that you have given permissions to sync account as per below TechNet:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh296982(v=office.15).aspx
Replicate Directory changes permissions are also required on cn=configuration container, below are the steps:
Grant Replicate Directory Changes permission on the cn=configuration container
Use this procedure to grant Replicate Directory Changes permission on the cn=configuration container to an account.
To grant Replicate Directory Changes permission on the cn=configuration container
On the domain controller, click Start, click Run, type adsiedit.msc, and then click OK.
If the Configuration node is not already present, do the following:
In the navigation pane, click ADSI Edit.
On the Action menu, click Connect to.
In the Connection Point area of the Connection Settings dialog box, click Select
a well know Naming Context, select Configuration from the drop-down list, and then click OK.
Expand the Configuration node, right-click the CN=Configuration... node, and then click Properties.
In the Properties dialog box, click the Security tab.
In the Group or user names section, click Add.
Type the name of the synchronization account, and then click OK.
In the Group or user names section, select the synchronization account.
In the Permissions section, select the Allow check box next to the Replicating
Directory Changes (Replicate Directory Changes on Windows Server 2003) permission, and then click OK.

  • Issues while readin SQL server via ODBC connection

    Hi Experts,
I havea SQL server db as a source. I have configured the Datastore using ODBC connection. Developed a job which simply reads a table and populates into a flat file. when we run the job, it doesnt show any progress, it just stops after a log message "initializing data store, processing job" . I looked at the job logs file on the Job server, its incomplete as well.
One thing is that, im able to see the data when i go under data store and view data option for that particular table.  My other jobs works just fine with oracle data base sources. We restarted the BODS server as well, but it doesnt  help. Any idea on what might be going on ?.
    Thanks for your time.
    Regards,
    Narayanan

    Hi Narayanan ,
    There are two steps:
    1) Set up the ODBC connection correctly on your Linux server
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/EIM/ToconfigureDataDirectODBConLinuxand+Unix
(test with isql command line if connection on that server to the SQL Server is working)
    2) Select ODBC connection in the datastore and then put the name of the connection you defined. (do not choose Database - SQL Server)

  • Connecting to NTSC monitor via component connection

I'm getting ready to add an NTSC monitor to my home editing system and I want to connect via the RGB for the best color correcting results. I don't want to go through a deck - mostly because I don't own one and none of my cameras do a component signal out. Anyone have any thoughts on the best means of getting an RGB signal out of FCP to an NTSC monitor?

  • Problem connecting laptop to printer via wireless connection

I installed my HP Photosmart D110 series and the printer is not detecting my wireless internet (which is a Verizon Wireless card) . I only know the basics when it comes to computers, internet, etc. Therefore, this might be a completely stupid question, but is it possible to connect only through my Verizon card or do I need to purchase a router as well?
When I print my Wireless Network Test Report from my printer it tells me that it's recommended to change my network name to make it unique? I have no idea how to do this. And is it even applicable here?
I would greatly appreciate some feedback here.Thank you!

    OK,
    1. On the printer: Setup > Network > Reset network Defaults
    2. On your PC, go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.  Look for a wireless network that starts with 'hp" or "HP".  Join it.  There is no password.  On the printer: Setup > Network > WIreless Network Test.
    3. Now, in Start > Control Panel > Printers, Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's host name (found on the printer's network configuration report the generated above). Click Next.
If you get a message about Additional Port Information Required, then the printer was not found using the host name. You can go back and retry or using the printer's IP address instead of the host name.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Make a choice and click Next.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.

  • Connect to a printer via TCP connection with wifi

    Hi,
what i would like to do, is to connect a printer to the iPhone via wireless.
The printer is in the same wifi as the iPhone and the ip adress is known.
So what i started to to is, to create a SocketConnection with CFStreamCreatePairWithSocketToHost(...). But if i switch of the printer, the inputstream is created too, and is not NULL as expected.
Is this the right approach im using or is there a better possibilty to send strings to my printer using a tcp connection over wifi?
    Regards,

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
In the Help menu of the Finder is a little app called Mac Help. Most Apple apps and many 3rd party apps also use Mac Help. In Mac Help is an article called *Adding a printer shared by a Windows computer via SMB/CIFS*. This article is regarding sharing a printer that is connected to a PC over a network however, and not to a router, but may have info useful to troubleshooting. You might also check with your Linksys user guide for info on sharing this printer with a Mac over the network.

I have an iPad on v5.01.  I am unable to use my wifi network to connect to the internet.  My wife's iPad works fine.  Please advise any potential solutions.

Have you checked to see if your WiFi router needs to have your iPad's MAC address specifically permitted to use WiFi?  Some WiFi routers have a section in the settings called "Access List", possibly under "Security".
You can find the MAC address in Settings > General > About > Wi-Fi Address

  • Can't connect to server via apple+k

If i try and connect to another machine via GO>CONNECT TO SERVER I get the beachball of death which spins forever until I force quit finder.
I have created a new user account and if i try the same it works perfectly, which suggests to me a file/preference has corrupted.
Does anybody have an idea what files may be corrupt and need deleting?
    Thank you

    Managed to sort it myself.
Moved the Library folder from 'Username'>Library onto my desktop and logged out of the dodgy account.
Logged in again and a new Library folder was created. Apple+k then worked.
I then copied the old files into the new folder in batches of 20, logged out then in again and kept trying Apple+k.
I put all the files back, logging out then in every time, ensuring the file I was copying overwrote the new file.
After I had copied all the files I rebooted and upon restart Apple+k worked.
I have no idea what the actual corrupt file was, but at least other people with the same problem now have a method of getting back to normal.

  • Connecting to DSL manually via PPPoE

I have a 2Wire 2071A modem connected to my G5 via ethernet and I'm playing around with connecting to the internet. My ISP is Telstra Bigpond in Australia. Everything works fine until I try and connect manually like I used to with dialup. I like to do things manually so I can see how things work.
If my understanding is correct (please indicate if it is not), under normal operation:
    1. After everything has been configured correctly and rebooted, the modem has a little talk to some device in the local exchange which, because I'm with Bigpond, will only allow me to connect to Bigpond. ie I do not have to enter a Bigpond IP address because that's already been setup.
    2. During the little talk, my modem sends my user name and password; the device in the local exchange talks to Bigpond and checks the info; then it connects me to the internet.
    What I want to do:
I have looked at the setup page for the modem and it is connecting to the internet using PPPoA with a user name and password. I have changed the setting to PPPoE and it still works. What I want to do (I'm just experimenting) is to bridge the modem so that all the internet connection is done by my G5. Assume the modem has been bridged correctly.
This is how I attempted to connect to the internet:
    1. Network > Show: Built-in Ethernet > PPPoE > Connect using PPPoE
    2. I filled in the User Name and Password.
    3. When I look under the TCP/IP tab I noticed it changed to: Configure IPv4: Using PPP. All settings under TCP/IP were not available or optional so I didn't enter any.
When I tried to connect to the internet via Internet Connect, after a minute or two it says "Server not Found"
    Have I missed some setting?

I'll answer my own question. When I gave the 2wire the boot and tried a D-Link 504 modem in bridged mode, I was able to connect and disconnect to the internet manually with the settings I gave, just like I used to for dialup. I'm happy now. I can control the beast.

  • Why does RMI server sets its connection address?

I use RMI for several years now and it is really great. But what I did not understand all this time: why the server has to inject its own address to a client. I only see disadvantages of this behavior and this is a big pitfall to all newbies using RMI (two nics, different networks connecting to one server).
So my question is, what is the reason for this kind of design? Do I miss some essential security/network point?
Probably a proper callback mechanism might be one reason, but what else?
I don't need answers like it is all documented and it is easy. As I said I am used to it, but I believe it is not as easy as it sounds and it is hard to understand for a lot of people. I want to give you one example: We are developing and servicing products which are operated in closed private networks. For service and diagnostics we have to connect to these networks via VPN connections. In such cases it is hard to connect to the system applications because all the RMI servers insists on their own address/name which might be know only to the local network.
Thanks in advance for your attention

The registry and the server could be on different machines, so the client would know the address of the registry in order to lookup the remote object, but the registry would have to tell the client where the server is. That is, after all, the whole point of the registry!Ok I got this,
Also, there are facilities to give the client a different address to the servers actual address. This is used in cases where, for example, the server is behind a NAT firewall. The server will only be aware of its internal address, but clients beyond the firewall will need to use the server's external address to reach it, so the objects returned from the registry will need to have the server's external address embedded in them even if the server and the registry are running on the same machine.Ok, so you have to set this to a reachable address for all clients. But in general the client already knows this since it reached the server already. So I don't see the point the server should have to change this afterward.
However I still think only the first point is not enough to have so much hassle in all other environments. Do you know a way to override the registry or possibly the client registration to ignore what the server does say to it as the "real" address?

  • Connecting to Time Capsule via Ethernet

    Hi,
I'm working on a Tiger OS and I cannot connect to my time capsule. I followed instructions in the manual, but I simply do not see Time Capsule on my desktop, and there is very little info in the manual.
I am working off of ethernet, not airport, and would prefer to used ethernet for the moment. I have it connected via LAN port to my macbook pro. There's only one ethernet port on my computer. Does anyone have any advice? I know about about Macs, but dont have much experience with network specs.
I simply need to archive data, but I cannot see Time Capsule on my desktop. Time Capsule is connected just fine to my modem, but now how do I connect to my computer? I've tried to unplug ethernet from my computer, and into the LAN port on my capsule, but to no avail.
I am absolutely clueless as to how I can use this machine at this point??
    Thanks much.

    Jean,
You probably don't have the Network Preferences set correctly.
Connecting The Time Capsule Via Ethernet
Connect one end of a Cat-5 Ethernet cable into one of the LAN ports of the TC (<•••>).
Connect the other end to your Macs ethernet port.
    Open Network Preferences.
At the top change "Location:" to "Ethernet Connection".
In the list on the left "Ethernet" should be at the top of the list. (If not use the Action Menu (gear button) at the bottom to "Set Service Order".)
Click "Apply" in the lower right.
Give it a moment to acquire an IP address from the TC.
    You should now be connected.
    Now begin your initial backup.
Now that you are reconnected to the TC, you should still have internet access during the backup.
Let us know if this was helpful. Next time start a new thread, you're more likely to get helpful responses that way.

  • Macintosh mount server via SMB

Testing out mounting NW 6.5 SP8 server from a macintish using SMB versus AFP.. I can successfully mount the server via AFP and also with SMB. When I mount the server via AFP the mounted server shows the complete server name appended with the volume name ie (testserver.vol1).. if I mount the same server and volume via SMB is simply mounts as VOL1 (no server name)..
If i use Imanager and change the CIFS properties of the server to add shares for the volumes (ie add testserver.vol1) and then restart cifs, I cannot log into the server anymore (it reports back that a unexpected error has occurred - error code -50)..If I delete the added shared and let the server simply report the default names, and then re-start CIFS, I can again login to the server

Are you trying to make the CIFS (SMB) mount appear in the same format as
    the AFP mount?
If so then you can't but you can make the the AFP mount appear the same
as CIFS by setting the Shared Volume Name in iManager or editing
    /etc/opt/novell/afptcpd/afpvols.conf.
Finally please note there is a dedicated support forum covering CIFS and

  • Can no longer connect to remote server via VPN

I recently installed OS 10.5.8, and have found that I can no longer connect to my server at work. The VPN itself (via PPTP) works fine, it's just that when I try to connect to the remote server (via Connect to Server) I get a dialogue saying 'A volume failed to mount.' A further dialogue says 'Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code -6602)'
Has anyone found a way around this, please? I'm disabled and I need to be able to work from home – without the connection I'm stuffed! Obviously I've tried rebooting the machine etc, but nothing seems to help.
Thank you for any assistance you can give.
