Can't create database table in VS 2013

I right clicked on Tables under Data Connects - newDB.mdf and selected Add Table.
Then I put column values in and selected Update.
It said "Update completed successfully" but there is no table under the Tables folder. !!
I also tried Save as and that did not work either.
Why wont the dbo.Table [Design] table I have in my editor display under Tables folder?
Also, how do I rename it from 'Table' to something else?

Hi alan93,
Thanks for your reply.
According to your description, as you said that when you connect the MSSWLLocalDB, you could add the table successfully from the VS2013. But when you connect the (localdb)\v11.0 (SQL Server 11.0.0.3000 - ), you could not add a table from the VS2013.
So I think that the issue is related to the (localdb)\v11.0 (SQL Server 11.0.0.3000 - ) instead of your VS2013.
I did some research about this (localdb)\v11.0 (SQL Server 11.0.0.3000 - ),it seems that it is the SQL Server 2012 SP1.
So I suggest you could try to connect the SQL Server 2012 SP1 and try to add a table from the SSMS as then check this issue again.
You could try to un-install the original SQL Server 2012 SP1 and then download it again from here:http://www.microsoft.com/en-hk/download/details.aspx?id=35575 and then install it
check this issue.
In addition, I suggest you could try to install the VS2013 Update 4 and then try to add a new table from the SQL Server 2012 sp1 nodes check this issue again.

  • Can we create a table in temp tablespace?

    Hi Support ,
I have confused about on point that Can we create a table in temp tablespace.
    thanks

I so not think the question is so bad except that it was as suggested something you can determine for yourself in 20 seconds:
    > /
create table mark (fld1 number) tablespace tmp
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02195: Attempt to create PERMANENT object in a TEMPORARY tablespace
Other database products allow users to create tables in the temporary tables such as SQL Server.  I just tested using SQL Server 2008 R2 and I could create a table in TEMPDB.
SQL Server also creates temporary tables, create table #table_name, in TEMPDB.  You can see these objects while in use.

Like the vendor that told me their product would work with an oracle database, but they preferred SQL Server because "oracle doesn't perform will with more than 5 concurrent connections". Fortunately we were still in product evaluation and I was able to get them cut from the short list.

  • Can I create a table in a procedure submitted to job queue?

I have created a package (with AUTHID CURRENT_USER) where some of the procedures create temporary tables to facilitate processing. These procedures run just fine when executed directly from within an anonymous block at the SQL*PLUS level. However, when I submit the procedures to the job queue (via DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT), the job is submitted successfully but fails when run. Investigating the Alert Log shows an error of insufficient privilege on the CREATE TABLE command in the procedure.
    QUESTION:
Can I create a table from a procedure running in the Job Queue? If so, then how to get it to work? Does the job run in a different environment that needs Create Table privileges set to my schema?
Thanks for any info you can provide.
    John

FYI: Found the problem. In the Administrator's Guide (of course not in the supplied packages documentation about DBMS_JOB) I found:
    "How Jobs Execute
SNP background processes execute jobs. To execute a job, the process creates a session to run the job.
When an SNP process runs a job, the job is run in the same environment in which it was submitted and with the owner's default privileges.
When you force a job to run using the procedure DBMS_JOB.RUN, the job is run by your user process. When your user process runs a job, it is run with your default privileges only. Privileges granted to you through roles are unavailable."
And of course we had set up our users to get all privileges through Roles, so CREATE TABLE wasn't one of my DEFAULT PRIVILEGES!
It sure would be nice if Oracle documentation could get its act together and provide ALL information about a topic in a logical place. The effort to find the information about privileges occurred after it took me 1/2 hour to figure out why my submissions were failing - I didn't have the ';' included in the quoted string for the procedure to be called - which I only figured out after looking at the code for DBMS_JOB where it made the note to make sure you include the ';'. Wouldn't it be good to have that MINOR DETAIL mentioned in the description of DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT?????

  • Update to Muse 2.3 Crashes. Windows 7 x64. "openCreate can't create database over file..."

I updated to Muse 2.3. Everytime I open an old site or create a new one then try to save or save site as, I get error message "openCreate can't create database over file that already exists"
I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling Muse and Air (a couple of times). Also tried the cleaner.
Any suggestions? Of course a tad urgent. Muse is great program, but its usefulness seems to be inversely proportional to the urgency of need.
    Thank you for any help.
    Alan

Thanks Zak for getting back to me so quickly. I seem to have solved the problem (fingers crossed).
I restored my Windows 7 system to a point before I installed the latest update to Muse (2.3) [the restore also went back before large windows update that happened this week]. I tried to start Muse up and I got an error message saying it was a damaged installation. I uninstalled then reinstalled AIR. Then I reinstalled Muse. Seem to be working fine now.
The only thing I can think that happened to mess things up was that I used the Cleaner after I uninstalled Muse originally? I used it for the CS6 version. I noticed that Muse was listed under my CS 5.5 installation too (I think it said Muse 16 - maybe v1 or the beta?). I uninstalled that too so maybe I had a corrupted installation from earlier or the beta still hanging around my system?
I really appreciate the prompt support. I will let you know if anything else happens - let me know if you'd like any more info.

  • Error while creating database table

    Hi
I am creating a table with 2 key fields of length 255 chars each. its giving me error Key field is greater than 780. Please suggest.
    Regards
    Aditya

    Hi,
Since table key can be max of 255 length,we rarely make use of a single key field of 255,
so, reduce the length of field.
    Constraints
All the key fields of a table must be stored together at the beginning of the table. A non-key field may not occur between two key fields.
A maximum of 16 key fields per table is permitted. The maximum length of the table key is 255.
If the key length is greater than 120, there are restrictions when transporting table entries. The key can only be specified up to a maximum of 120 places in a transport. If the key is larger than 120, table entries must be transported generically.
A table may not have more than 249 fields. The sum of all field lengths is limited to 1962 (whereby fields with data type LRAW and LCHR are not counted).
Fields of types LRAW or LCHR must be at the end of the table. Only one such field is allowed per table. There must also be a field of type INT2 directly in front of such a field. The actual length of the field can be entered there by the database interface.

  • How can I create a table in other's schema?

I have two users say 'user1' and 'sanju' along with other users in the database. Both the users are granted a connect role. I have connected as a 'sanju' user. Now I want to create a table in schema 'user1'.
Please note that user 'sanju' should not be allowed to create table in any other user's schema.
I have set the current schema of 'sanju' as 'user1'.
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA=USER1
I know that 'grant create ANY table to sanju' will allow 'sanju' to create table in all the schema. I dont want that. Is there any way to create a table in any other's schema?
    Please answer ASAP

This is not directly possible, but you can use following workaround:
    connect user1/passwd
create or replace procedure testCreateTable as
    begin
    execute immediate 'create table user1.testTable(c char)';
    end test;
    grant execute on testCreateTable to sanju;
    connect sanju/passwd
    execute testCreateTable
Of course, you can make this procedure more generic by specifying the necessary parameter.
Please not that this procedure only works, if user1 was granted the create table privilege directly, and not through a role (e.g. dba), because roles are disabled when executing

  • Error Message: "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources" when creating pivot table with Excel 2013

    Hi,
One of our users encountered this problem with Excel 2013 while creating pivot tables, particularly with large files. We tried to modify Virtual Memory
of the pc but error still persist. Why does this happen and how can we resolve this? Thanks.
Another error message encountered by the user, this time when opening large files. The files she tried to open are working fine in 2010. But when opened in 2013, it prompted : "There
isn't enough memory to complete this action. Try using less data or closing other applications."

    Hi,
In regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.
Did your user using the Excel 2013 and Excel 2010 with same PC? If not, please let me know the both of the 2 PCs' hardware list/Windows operation system info.
Did you using Excel 2013 32bit version and Excel 2010 64bit version?
General speaking, this issue usually occurs with Office 2013 32 bit version. It has a limitation of 2Gb of memory that can be used by its process. And the 64-bit Excel can handle larger workbooks.
Thus, if your user using 32bit Excel, I recommend try 64bit Excel instead.
Here is a similar issue, we also could try it:

  • Create database table using Forms Developer 6/6i

    Happy New Year everyone,
I hope your New Year is a happy one.
Listen, I am trying to create tables in Forme Builders without using SQL*Plus but it won't create the table in the database because I believe that the table it is created as a control block not as a data block.
Can someone help me on this my email is [email protected] your help is appreciated.

I'm not sure I understand your question.
If you want to create a table in the database, you need to use the Database Objects node. If you do it in the block node, then you are creating a block in the Form, not a table in the database.
