Can't Get Group Communication

Have talked to Verizon Wireless tech support two times trying to get new service known as "Group Communication" (like conference calling) for $6.99.  Keeps coming back that "Sorry this line is ineligible" apparently due to my sticking with an ALLTEL phone (had to do a non-Smart phone to keep ALLTEL plan) and plan in Aug. 2009. Tech support can't seem to figure how to make my line eligible for this service. Anyone know how to fix this? VERY frustrated--not the first time (or the 12th time) that my sticking to my much better ALLTEL plan has run into major tech probs (they took 5 tries to get my new phone activated, I have to dial a special no. to update phone software, etc.).  Thx for any help.

Most former Alltel customers are "misinformed" about their right to keep the Alltel plan. I think that by now it is an established fact that Verizon does everything to confuse and misinform former Alltel customers, pushing them to switch to Verizon plans.
See my thread " troubles getting a new phone".  Not that I expected anything different.

    I'm going to doubt that there is any way for you to get a VZW specific feature added onto your account while you are still on an Alltel plan. Keep in mind that the plan you are on was never offered by VZW and all the features they make will be set up for their own plans, so you have to make a trade, keep the grandfathered plan you like, or move to a newer plan that allows newer features (the same thing happens to old VZW plans).

    That requires you to enter the configuration correctly.  You can find out the configuration for your email from your ISPs website in most cases. Or if you're using Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail you need only Google something like:
    "Gmail configuration for Apple Mail"  or  "Hotmail configuration for Apple Mail" (without the quotes). 
    That should get you started..

  • Can't Get Group Wiki to Work

    Ok, I have everything setup according to the docs and still can't get the group wiki to work.
    - OD Master
    - Web Services for the domain, Group Wiki checked on
    - Group applied to Wiki
    - Group granted Wiki access in WGM for this domain
    So, I navigate to the default site my group is listed but when I select the group I get the following:
    Not Found
    404: No group with that name (creative) hosted on this server
    This is also on a fresh install of Leopard Server with all updates applied. However, I did not install translation support, only the english. Could that cause this type of prob?

    I just wanted to point out that THIS WORKED. It's the most ridiculous sounding "fix" ever, but it actually does work. It's not our fault - Apple, come on. Seriously?
    Anyway, leaving the hostname of the machine in worked too. Putting the FQDN of the machine (which is what one would expect in a field called "Domain Name!") caused it to fail again. I went back to just the hostname, and the group wikis are working as expected.
    The Web Technologies Admin 10.5 PDF says "In the Sites General pane, enter the fully qualified DNS name of your website in the Domain Name field." - but if you actually FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS you'll wind up with totally broken wikis. *shakes head*

    okay, so i'm getting the same "error processing data (210)" error on my group calendars. i have a standard leopard server running, on an internal network.
    i have searched on here and tried everything, and can't get anything to work. the only thing i've managed to get working was a calendar for one user, and not any other users.
    since it's a standard server install, i don't have many options to work with. please help

    For my this solution on MacOS X Hints is working .. Now in a 3 user setup but it is going to be in a worksetup of 40+ people.

  • Can't get Group name to be accepted in Mail

    I have  a group created in Contacts but Mail won't accept it or any other Group name in the To: line. When I hit Enter, the name just disappears. When I click on the plus sign at the right of the To: line, the Group names appear but when I double-click any of them, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

    As a work around until Apple fixes this, open Contacts, select the group, and control - click on it. It gives you an e-mail option.

  • How can I get contacts in a group 'Hotmail' on my friend's ipad onto icloud and a Mac?

    She can't access these messages on her PC because she has forgotten both password and security question. I have persuaded her to migrate to an icloud account, but first she must let 100+ people know her new email.
    I thought if I could get the contacts onto her cloud and thence to my Mac, we could send a group email. At present none of her contacts will syn to either cloud or Mac.

    She has her own iCloud ID but none of the contacts show up on it because they are in a group called 'Hotmail' and it is impossible on her iPad to change their group to 'iCloud'

    I had already set up an account for her on my Mac, so her iPad is backed up.  But when she syncs her contacts to Mail on my Mac, none of the contacts come across, because they are not iCloud contacts.
    My question is still how do I get these contacts off the iPad and onto either the cloud or the mac so I can change their group so they sync in future and so that we can send a group email advising her friends and relatives of her change of email address.  If this is not possible it means emailing a hundred or so people individually.
    How sad that it is not possible on the ipad to select all contacts and assign them to a different group.

I'll need hardcopy catalogues, manuals and poster to enable get more effective as they is no Apple shop or dealer anywhere near.

    If you want a total at any group-level, go to the particular group in the data model, insert a summary column in the group, and select
    Reset At > appropriate Group Name
    For report level summaries, you must create the summary column outside of all groups.
