Can't handle too large upload

Question

Hello.
I'm using O'Reillys MultipartRequest to upload files:String errorMsg = null;
try {
  new MultipartRequest(req, filename, maxSize* 1024, new com.oreilly.servlet.multipart.DefaultFileRenamePolicy());
} catch (IOException e) {
  errorMsg = "File is too large.";
printResponse(..., errorMsg);If the file size exceeds my limit, the IOException is caught and printResponse(...) is called, but nothing ends up in the browser! I just get an empty page (Document contains no data). If the filesize is ok, printResponse works fine.
In a FAQ on O'Reilly ()http://www.servlets.com/cos/faq.html, you can find this:
Any upload larger than the limit is halted. The default maximum is 1 Meg. For a discussion of the difficulties a server has in notifying a client of the error, see the discussion in Java Servlet Programming, 2nd Edition, page 119
I obviously don't have that book and I'm not going to buy it today, Someone else must have seen this known problem. Any solutions? Redirect to another page perhaps?

A little bit more information would be interesting. The code snippet that uses the MultipartParser and which exception is throws exactly where would be very useful.
