Can't HotSync Documents To Go

Hi,
I'm running Windows 2000.  Palm Desktop 4.1.4.  My original version of DTG didn't work when I installed it from the CD, so I downloaded the latest version:
Product: Documents To Go Pro Bundle Win English
Download Software  7.0060  18,088,808 Bytes Windows  Palm OS
documentstogopro7006-en
During the installation, it asks to HotSync and I can see several prc files getting installed, and then I see a popup showing status of documents moving over (which there are none so it goes very quickly).  Everything seems to look good and after the sync, when I click Continue, it says the installation has completed successfully.  Documents to Go pops up automatically after I click 'Finish'.
Then, if I don't do anything (don't add any documents for example) and just HotSync again, it comes to the Synchronizing step for Documents (and I see it say 'HotSync Operation in Progress' on the Documents to Go window), but it hangs indefinitely.
I've tried several times with no luck.  I've tried:
- Add a file first, then HotSync.  No luck.
- From the DTG window, choose Tools / Reinstall.  No luck.
- From the HotSync Manager / Custom / Documents to Go / Change / Do Nothing.  The others synchronize properly, but it backs up documents to go files and it loses the fact that DTG is associated with my palm.
Totally stuck, not sure what to do next?  Is there a way to totally wipe it clean rather than reinstall?  Has anyone else faced this?
Thanks for any help,
Nancy

Not sure exactly what you mean by "downloaded the latest version".  The latest version of DTG for Palm OS is 11.0 rather than 7.x which came with your handheld.  It's important that the same version of DTG are running both on your handheld as well as the desktop application.
You could try deleting all DTG related files from your handheld, and reinstalling the handheld app from the desktop.  There is a free download available from the dataviz site called the Dataviz TechTool which gets installed onto the Palm and when you run it, does this automatically.

  • Can't hotsync 755p with Thinkpad via Bluetooth

I upgraded from a Tungsten E2 to a Treo 755p, reinstalled Palm Desktop, and can not hotsync with Bluetooth.  The 755p reponds with the "port already in use" (it's not.)  I've determined that this is the catch-all response from the PDA when it doesn't get a response from the laptop.  Syncing via the USB cable works fine.  I have the two paired, and have reinstalled the Palm Desktop twice and done soft resets numerous times all with no effect.  I've searched the internet, run through the Palm support pages on initiating Bluetooth response.  This worked fine with the E2, but I cannot get it to work with the 755p.  I welcome any help on this since trying to fish out a cable all the time is not going to work for me (expecially since it's so difficult to detach the cable from teh Treo! What's up with that?!).  Thanks.

Are you sync'ing the new device to the same username in Palm Desktop as an older device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.
    Looks like you may need to hard reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;
    XP
C:\program files\palm or palm one\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
    Vista
Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
tasks, and memos will come back over.
Show file extensions for XP or Vista
    XP
If you can not view file extensions on your PC I would like you to open a
folder go to Tools-->Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
    Vista
Open control Panel go to Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.

  • I can't save documents in Pages.

I can't save documents in Pages. I get a "file does not exist" error message. I've tried changing the file name, length, and location. To no avail. This is only sporadic.

    Hey fruhulda,
I have a similar problem although I'm running OSX 10.9.5.  I'v just started to completely remove pages and attempt a reinstall.  I did the search for the plist file.  There was only one file with the com.apple.iwork.pages name but it did not have the .plist extension, even when I checked the info page.  Is this the same file?
I'm not sure I want to update to Yosemite yet, but it looks like I may have to in order to continue to work with my pages documents, unless the reinstall works.

  • Oracle EPM 11.1.2.3: Only R&A Administrator Can Open IR Documents

    Windows 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2
I am trying to use a test user to test for problems in a new maintenance release from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.3. My test user was not provisioned individually, just using WORLD for roles. WORLD is in these roles:
    Analyst
    Dynamic Viewer
    Explorer
    IR HTML Viewer
    IR WebClient Viewer
    Interactive Reporting Viewer
The test user was unable to open IR documents, so I began modifying the user's provisioning. If I put the user in the Reporting and Analysis Administrator role, I can open IR documents. If I remove the Reporting and Analysis Administrator role and add the Content Manager and Schedule Manager roles to the user's provisioning, I can't open IR documents.
I remember the 11.1.2.1 documentation had a one-liner (in the thousands of pages of docs) about how security changes had been made that prevented users from opening IR documents (and how to fix it). I haven't yet found the documentation about this for 11.1.2.3. If you know how to make this work properly, please share.

Apparently 11.1.2.3 has the same problem 11.1.2.1 had.  Support said (and it worked):
    1. Stop EPM services.
    2. Backup the table V8_CSS_ROLE
    3. Execute the following SQL queries against Reporting & Analysis relational database:
    update V8_CSS_ROLE set ROLE_ID='0000011ed1cf2e7a-0000-4dc0-0a8f1415' where CSS_IDENTITY='native://DN=cn=HAVA:0000011ed1cf2e7a-0000-4dc0-0a8f1415,ou=HAVA,ou=Roles,dc=css,dc=hyperion,dc=com?ROLE';
    update V8_CSS_ROLE set ROLE_ID='0000011ed1cd5c8f-0000-4dc0-0a8f1415' where CSS_IDENTITY='native://DN=cn=HAVA:0000011ed1cd5c8f-0000-4dc0-0a8f1415,ou=HAVA, ou=Roles,dc=css,dc=hyperion,dc=com?ROLE';
    4. Start EPM services.

  • Can't open documents in iCloud

I am suddenly unable to open any iWork documents stored in iCloud on My Mac.  (This is true for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) Every time I try, I get an error message saying "The file "filename" could not be opened."
Pages (and Numbers and Keynote) are up-to-date on both my Mac and on my iPad.  I can access the documents from my iPad, and I can download them from iCloud.com and then work on them on my Mac, but I cannot open the iCloud copies directily.
I've made sure that I'm working with the new versions of iWork apps, not the '09 version that are still on my Mac.
This seems to have started with the latest round of updates to the iWork apps, but I could be wrong about the timing.
Any ideas about how to solve this?

Pages 5.01 will not open Pages 5.1 files and people are reporting that Pages 5.1 will on occassion not open its own files.
Currently nobody has a clue what to do about it except: Don't touch Pages with a bargepole!
    Use your previous iWork apps.

  • Document Creation error - "We're sorry. We can't open document name because we found a problem with its contents"

    Morning Friends,
I have created a SharePoint 2010 "Site Workflow" that is designed to take information from a form and create a Word doc with the gathered information and store this Word doc in a document library.
I am using Sharepoint 2013 with Office 2013
I understand there are a lot of steps (19) outlined below and I can provide more information as needed but the bottom line is this, workflow successfully takes info from an initiation form, uses the info to create a Word doc. Places this Word doc in a library.
When attempting to open / edit doc, receive error
"We're sorry. We can't open <document name> because we found a problem with its contents"
Details - No error detail available.
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Very high level view of what I have done:
1 - Created content type called "Letters"
2 - Added site columns " First Name" and "Last Name"
3 -  Created and saved to my desktop a very basic Word document (Letter.docx) that says "Hello, my name is XXXX XXXX"
4 - In the advanced settings of the "Letters" content type I uploaded this "Letter.docx" file as the new document template.
5 - Created a new document library called "Letters"
6 - In Library Settings - Advanced Settings, clicked "Yes" to enable the management of content types.
7 - Then I clicked "Add from existing content types" and added the "Letters" content type
8 - Back in the advanced settings of the "Letters" content type I selected "Edit Template" and replaced the first XXXX with the Quick Part "First Name" and the second XXXX with the Quick part "Last Name"
    9 - Created a new 2010 Site workflow called "Create a Letter"
10 - To the workflow I added the action "Create List Item"
11 - Configured the action to create Content Type ID "Letters" in the document library "Letter"
12 - For the "Path and Name" I gave it a basic name of "Letter to"
13 - The next step was to create the Initiation Form Parameters and added to form entries "First Name" and "Last Name"
14 - I then linked the initiation form fields to the data source "Workflow Variables and Parameters" to their respective Field from Source parameters
15 - Went back to the "Path and Name" and modified the basic name of "Letter to" to include the first and last name parameters.
16 - Saved - published and ran the work flow.
17 - As expected, Initiation Form prompts for First and Last Name. ("John Doe") Then click "start
18 - Go to document library "Letters" and see a new Word document created titles "Letter to John Doe"
19 - Go to open / edit the Word document and receive the following error
thoughts? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

See this MS support article for SP2010 workflows and generating Word docs:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2889634/en-us?wa=wsignin1.0
"This behavior is by design. The Create
List Item action in the SharePoint
2010 Workflow platform can't convert Word content type file templates to the correct .docx format."
I've had success in using SP 2013, Word 2013 (saving a .docx as the template instead of .dotx for the document library content type), and an SP 2010 workflow using SP Designer 2013.

  • Can't open documents "you will need a newer version of pages..get upgrade at app store" App store says I have the current version.

Can't open documents some as recent as yesterday. "you will need a newer version of Pages...you can upgrade from the app store" The app store indicates i have the current version, upgrade not appropriate. A relatively new problem.

You have two versions of Pages on your Mac & are trying to open Pages 5 documents with Pages 4. Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there then right-click on the Dock icon & select Options > Keep in Dock.
Installing new versions of iWork has never replaced existing versions. This is nothing new. The only thing new is that the '09 apps are moved to an iWork '09 folder if they were purchased from the Mac App Store. If they were installed from disk they should already be in a separate folder in Applications.

  • Since I updated my pages to 5.01, I can't open documents created on my iPad today. It says you need a new version of pages to open document.  (My computer says it is installed).  Has any one encountered this?

Well, here's what I found out that works for me...
I had a Pages icon on my dock, and launching it brought up version 4.3.  But I went to my Apps folder and found the new updated icon there and when I launced that it brought up version 5.01.  So apparently the Apple update process left two versions launchable on my iMac.  Weird...

Pages is telling me that I need a newer version before I can open my document.  I have the latest version and I am able to open older versions.  Whats up?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:
    http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/viewforum.php?f=22&sid=3527487677f0c 6fa05b6297cd00f8eb9&mforum=iworktipsntrick
Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

  • Can't move document from one folder to another

In the previous incarnation of Pages, right when it first developed Folders (a long overdue development), I was able to easily move a document from one folder to another on my MacBook, as well as my iPad.
Now, whenever I grab a document and try to drag and drop it into a new folder to move it, it won't let.
Did Apple actually remove this functionality from Pages?

Didn't have the Yosemite MBA powered up, so verified this on Mavericks with Pages v5.2.2. Since Apple has essentially frozen the Pages v5 codebase, figured this would also work on Yosemite.
Any application (e.g. TextEdit) that takes advantage of this titlebar feature can move documents in this manner.
In the Finder, you can move a document from one location to another by depressing the command key while dragging the file.
In Pages v5.2.2, with the document chooser open, I can use the preceding sentence move technique to move a file from an open folder into the Pages document chooser and it will automatically switch the Pages document chooser to inside that external folder — without launching the document. But, the command+drag feature does not work to move a document visible in the Pages v5.2.2 document chooser to another Finder location, or even into a folder visible within the document chooser.

  • How can i share documents with different users on the same mac?

How can i share documents with different users on the same mac?

Shared how? The other users can read the documents or you all can read and write the documents?
The first is easy just place the documents in /Users/Shared anyone can access the files there and the other users will be able to read them.
The second is a bit trickier.

  • I`d like to know how can i insert documents, xls/doc/pdf into iCloud and have them in my iPhone and my iPad. I just found one way, through ibooks, but i think it isn't a practical option.

I`d like to know how can i insert documents, xls/doc/pdf into iCloud and have them in my iPhone and my iPad. I just found one way, through ibooks, but i think it isn't a practical option.

    Just use Drop Box instead.

  • Can I share documents with other iCloud accounts in my family?

Both me and my wife use iCloud, we have separate accounts, although they used to be a family account in the MobileMe world.
I've just started using numbers and am impressed with iCloud integration however I want to be able to share some documents with my wife and vice versa.  I hoped this would work similar to calendar whereby you can invite another user to share the calendar.  For calendars it works brilliantly but I can't find anything similar with the documents.
I can share a document via email but it would be good if we could sync certain documents.
Does anyone know if this is possible?  If not, can someone tell me how I could submit feedback for iCloud to Apple?
    Many thanks
    Chris

Unfortunately that isn't possible, if you have any suggestions that you think might enhance iCloud you can send Apple your feedback here.

  • Can't open documents or images in iCloud Drive

In an effort to stop using a competing cloud service and keep everything in iCloud Drive, I moved all my folders from OneNote to iCloud Drive in Finder. In iCloud Drive online there is no problem...every folder is there along with all the files and everything is fine.
That said, when I try to access any of the files, images, or documents on my iPhone or iPad, they're mostly all greyed out. I go to any iWork app, click on the "+" icon at the top left, then select "iCloud". This brings up my iCloud Drive UI and all the folders are there...but they're all greyed out. If I try to tap or scroll in that UI it closes and kicks me back to the home folder of whatever iWork app I was using (Pages or Numbers).
If I can't access documents, text files, PDFs, and images in iCloud Drive on my iOS, what good is it? I might as well go back to Microsoft OneDrive and their supporting Office apps which actually work great in iOS with the most recent updates. I'm just trying to stay within the Apple ecosystem and it's difficult to do. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Welcome to the Apple forums
Looking back through some notes I made, Pages '05 doesn't work well in Snow Leopard. Even '06 has some limitations when opening Word files.
I suggest getting a newer version. I think it is likely we will see updated versions of the iWork apps when the Mac App Store goes live. I suggest you download the iWork '09 trial which you can use for 30 days. In the meantime you can find legal copies of iWork '08 or '09 at greatly reduced prices through Amazon.com or on eBay.

  • Can you do document compare in pages, can you do document compare in pages

In that "other" word processing program, you can do a document compare to see how the documents differ. I have not found how to do that in Pages. Is it possible?

    No, it's not funny !
It's really boring to see titles with questions repeated two, three or even four times.
Is it so difficult to take care of what you type ?
