Can't I play only selected lists?

I'm new to the shuffle; have been using another brand's mp3 player for years. In that one, I can upload songs as "albums" (playlists) and play only that selected album, setting it to repeat from the beginning of that album when it's done rather than go to the next.
I've uploaded two playlists to my new shuffle: one for when I'm running, and one for when I'm drifting off to sleep. Obviously, they are VERY different and when I'm running, I want it to use only the songs from that playlist, and when I'm going to sleep, I don't want the hard rock, but instead the peaceful newage-y music.
Can't I do this with the ipod? Although I uploaded the playlists, iTunes loaded just the songs, so even setting it to play in order, it will play all the songs eventually (imagine the shock of drifting off to sleep peacefully and Bob Segar comes blasting through .

It was a creative idea, but actually, it won't work for my weird purposes in this. While the running music doesn't have to be in any order, the sleepy stuff does, since it starts with a spoken thing, and then proceeds through two music selections. Can't have the spoken thing anything but first.
So setting the sleep stuff to shuffle is not good. At first, I thought ok, I'll just do it in reverse---set the sleep stuff to not play when shuffling and let the running stuff shuffle. But then it hit me that in that case, once the nice sleep music finished, the shuffle would play the hard rock I've got for the running music! Ugh.
I might try combining the spoken mp3 and the two music mp3s into one humongous mp3 with an audio editor; then using your technique of marking the rock "don't play when shuffling" and setting the sleep to play on shuffle will be okay, since it will just be one file.
What a PITA . I still think your workaround was very creative and potentially useful if I didn't have to have the sleep stuff in a particular order. And I do understand your comment about the "shuffle"---just guess I don't see any purpose to a player that you can't choose to play a single playlist from. The thing IS cute though .

A Sub query like this can only return one column, not serveral like here with the star *. Replace the star by one column Name that you want to query.

How can I get two column selection list in my html form

I required to have two column selection list in my jsp page to show name and description of a product. How can i achieve this functionality or is there any other alternative to do so.

If i understand correctly: you can't actually create two columns in a list because it can only hold one value. The only way to achieve what you want is by concatenating the two values you want to display and put this as the value of the listbox.

Create a DVD menu to play only selected scenes?

I'm using Premiere Elements 11. Is it possible to create a DVD menu for automatic play of selected scenes? As an example, my movie may have 12 scenes. However, I would like to give the user the capability to play scenes 2, 4, 6, & 12, without interruption (or the need to go back to the menu).

I also think that your workaround can work for this instance, unless I mis-read the requirements.
As for Encore, as of EncoreDVD 2.0 (CS 2 Production Studio in my case), Encore CS 5, CS 5.5 and CS 6 (the end of the line for Encore), it can do that easily.
Now, I am only guessing with Sony's DVD Architect, but would hope that it can do the same. Maybe Steve Grisetti can comment, since he "wrote the book" on that program.
As we all know, PrE has many authoring limitations. First, they are semi-automatic, and very linear. That said, for most users, it works just fine. However, there are many, fairly common navigation schemes, that just do not directly figure into what it can do.
The downside to a full-featured authoring program, is that that "semi-automatic" work will not be done - one must do things by hand, but with that extra work, comes vast power. To me, that is a small trade-off. I will go for "power" any day. Of course, as I normally use Encore, I am used to doing much by hand, so it's just part of my authoring scheme.
I wish that I knew Sony's DVD Architect better, but I have used Encore for so long, that I have never found a need to even look at it. All that I know has come from here, or Muvipix, where it always gets great recs. Since Encore is no longer part of Adobe, I have the choice to either stick with my versions, or look to another authoring program. Over the years, I have used Encore, Sonic Scenarist (never owned it myself, but authored on other's systems, since it cost about US $50K), and DVD Studio (good, but with a clunky interface). Encore was my go-to app., but then, it will be no more.

Play only selection

How can I get SB to play only the selection I have highlighted? If I highlight something and click the space bar to play, it plays from that spot, but keeps going.

Edit>Copy (copy the selection)
File>New> Audio File From Selection or Audio File From Clipboard (either or).
This will create a new track with only the selected audio.
Then you will only play the selection.
As far as doing it from within the complete file, I haven't found a way other than "looping" it but then it keeps on playing over and over. That probably isn't what you were looking for.

Can I create a multi-selection list using a dynamic list of values?

I'm reading section 19.7.3 from the dev guide - it explains how to create a selectOneListbox using a dynamic list of values. Is it possible to create a multi-select listbox from a dynamic list of values?
What I would like to do - I have a read-only view object with a hard-coded query - I would like to display the results of the query in a dropdown list box, or dropdown list box with boolean checkboxes, to allow the user to select multiple items from the list. How can I accomplish this?

I don't know of any JSF components (at least not any ADF Faces components) that lets you do multiple selection in a drop-down. There is an af:selectManyListbox, but it does not render as a drop-down.

For example: 1000 Bricks x 10 Someone choses to buy 1 batch of 1000 bricks leaving 9 batches left on te list.

How can I back up only selected files using Time Machine?

I'm a graphic designer, I use a number of Time Capsules to periodically back up my entire computer. But I also want to set up another Time Capsule (bus powered external hard drive) that will continually run as I work and only back up a single folder and all it's sub folders - in this case a folder called 'Client Files'.
QUESTION: How do I use Time Machine to back up only my 'Client Files' folder and all it's sub folders?

Frankly, this is probably not worth the time and trouble that it will take to set it up.
Time Machine backs up your entire Mac by default.
Time Machine Preferences / Options gives you the ability to Exclude items from backup, so to do what you want, you basically will have to Exclude everything else on the Mac from being backed up. That is going to be quite a task depending on where your Client Files folder resides and you have your Finder files set up.
It will not be that difficult to Exclude major folders..... things like Applicatons, Pictures, Music, Documents, etc.....but to get to the point where you want may not be that easy.
Take a look at things by opening Time Machine Preferences, then click on Options
Since you will be adding items to be Excluded, you would need to click the + button at the bottom of the window and then navigate to find the general folder that you want to Exclude.
Unfortunately, you cannot simply tell Time Machine to only back up the items that you want.....you have to tell Time Machine what NOT to back up.....which is going to be most of your Mac.
And.....whatever you set up in Time Machine /Options to be Excluded will apply to all backups to all Time Capsules. You cannot specify what is Excluded on one Time Capsule and not another. It's all or nothing. Not what you want to do, I am sure.

Report -- filter with selection list -- show all values after select page

I have the following problem:
- I have a report
- this report can be filtered with a selection-list
- the selection list is based on dynamic LOV and has a null-value
- I added the code of the report the following, to filter the report after choosing a value of the selection list:
... and (instr(type, decode(:P8_FILTER_type, '%null%',type,:P8_FILTER_type)) > 0)
This works very well.
But my problem is: When the user logs out and the next time, he logs in, the selection list shows " --- show all values --- " (my null-display-value) and the report is empty "no values found".
---> I want to show the first time, the page is selected ALL the values of the report. (this is now only possile if I press the button which belongs to the selection list)
I hope, somebody understands my problem.

So what you can do in your where: (instr(type, decode(NVL(:P8_FILTER_type,'%null%'), '%null%',type,:P8_FILTER_type)) > 0)
Off topic: I also wonder if that where clause can't be simpler? Do you rely need the instr?

How to get the text boxes and select lists dynamically?

Hi,
I have a requirement such that I need to create the text boxes and select lists depending on the user input at the run time. It means that if the user requires four text boxes/select lists then I need to have 4 such thing. If the user need 6 then I need to have 6.
The design may be such that initially only one text box/select list will be available when the page launches. Then as ad when the user asks for more those will be available to the user accordingly.

You can use Ajax to call textboxes and select list based on what user enters.
Otherwise make those items conditional and based on what user enters you can display textbox or select list.
You can call Single Textbox and Select List using Ajax for any number of conditions.

Subquery in SELECT list vs join

If I'm not mistaken, both queries below are functionally the same. Both return all rows from table1 and only show a value for table2.F7 if the first 4 characters of F7 equal F2.
My thoughts are this... It's nice that a subquery can be used in a select list, but it looks like, with all the sql I've written which uses that approach, I could have just as well used the join approach. Is this always true? Can someone show me as example where using a subquery in the select list is hands-down the better approach?

Probably there is no general answer and you'll always have to check separately.
In the following example the scalar subquery turns out to be slightly more efficient than an outer join (15 gets versus 13 gets and compare the elapsed time):

How to display chart region based on select list in html region ?
