Can't indent...jsp page...

Hi...
I'm running a WebLogic 8.1 express server on windows...
I deployed a new webapp...and have one jsp page...the thing is, i can add any white space to the left of any lines...if i do i can an 'illegal char' errro.
When i line each line up against the left margin...it works fine...

  • How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application witth just a JRE [Web Application, WAR, JSP, weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds and JRE]

              How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application (either a .war file or a war directory structure) without a java compiler?
              I suspect either the JSP specification is flawed (i.e. it doesn't take account of servers using just a JRE), or BEA's implementation is broken.
              Production servers do not have a JDK installed. They only have a JRE. Therfore a java compiler is not present on the machine that the Web Application is deployed onto.
              On the development machine, when the server is requested to load the JSP it creates a tmpwar directory within the Web Application directory structure. This is then included in the resultant .war file thus:
              D:\war>jar -tf gmi.war
              META-INF/
              META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
              gmiService.jsp
              WEB-INF/
              WEB-INF/classes/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/gmiService.class
              WEB-INF/getList.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrict.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrictConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/lib/
              WEB-INF/source/
              WEB-INF/source/build.bat
              WEB-INF/source/gmiService.java
              WEB-INF/web.xml
              WEB-INF/weblogic.xml
              tmpwar/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.class
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.java
              When deployed on the production server with the web.xml file set to use the following values (note XML stripped):
              weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds
              -1
              weblogic.jsp.precompile
              false
              weblogic.jsp.compileCommand
              javac
              weblogic.jsp.verbose
              true
              weblogic.jsp.packagePrefix
              jsp_servlet
              weblogic.jsp.keepgenerated
              false
              And in the weblogic.properties file:
              weblogic.httpd.webApp.gmi=war/gmi
              I've also tried with the .war file, but that insists on creating another tmpwar directory outside of the .war file.
              Then, although I have set pageCheckSeconds to -1 (don't check and don't recompile) ter production server still attempts to recompile the JSP's:

    The default Java compiler from sun lives in the tools.jar that comes with
              the JDK. Just add that to your set of JARs which are deployed in production
              and you should be fine. No need to install the full JDK - just make the
              tools.jar available to WebLogic.

    What is your problem with a host command? You can use:

    There a disadvantage indeed: you have to close the browser before you can return to the form.

  • Can Not Edit JSP Page

    Running SJSC2.1 on XP
    I have a project which uses tables and DB
    I can not edit the JSP page (the tab for the Page1.jsp page has an asterisk) after the name.
    The IDE can not edit the page either, I add a table column for display and the design mode shows the added column but the JSP page does not show the new column, nor does the new column show when the app is deployed..
    I can edit the file with wordpad outside of the IDE
    What gives???
    Thanks

    Actually, I did say that I am able to edit the file and save it in WordPad..
    Outside of the IDE..
    Thanks anyway...
    I have restarted the IDE, Rebooted the system (which reboots the app server) made sure there are no "hanging" "app module" entries in the domain.xml file...
    Anybody know why the "*" is shown with the filename on the SJSC Design tab..
    There was also a series of very small "red somethings" to the upper left of the file name in the Files> listing
    The red somethings looked like:
    | | | |
    | o |
    I have no idea what this red something is.. I thought if might say something but even with a magnifying glass it is unreadable, if in fact the somethings is text
    Thanks
    any help would be appreciated...

  • Can't visit jsp pages in 64 bit mode without first visiting them in 32 bit

    we have an application that we deployed into a standalone oc4j running on solaris 10 x86 sun workstation.
    Oc4j is run in 64 bit mode. After Oc4j is started, any jsp page we try to visit, the page fails to be shown and the
    below error is shown in the log:
    INFO: Unable to dispatch JSP Page : Exception:oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException: Errors compiling:/opt/oc4j/j2ee/home/application-deployment_
    s/App/App/persistence/_pages//_info_jspx.java

    INFO: Unable to dispatch JSP Page : Exception:oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException: Errors compiling:/opt/oc4j/j2ee/home/application-deployment_
    s/App/App/persistence/_pages//_info_jspx.java
    As a workaround to this issue, we had to visit every page in the application while oc4j is running in 32 bit mode and then restart OC4j in 64 bit
    mode. After this, we are able to successfully visit every jsp page. This is very painful as everytime we redeploy the application, we have to
    revisit all pages in 32 bit mode before we can revisit them in 64 bit mode.
    How can we avoid this painfull excercise of having to visit all pages in 32 bit mode in order to successfully visit them in 64 bit mode ?
    we are using:
    JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.9.4066 with JDK 1.5.0_06.

    Could be corrupted preferences.
    In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
    Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
    Remove the  com.apple.logic.pro.plist  file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro.
    Be sure and use the ~ character in the path name.

    I am not sure what this has to do with JSP's being on the client. (BTW, if you look at the name, Java Server Pages, the answer should be self-evident.)
    You can use a forward action to send a request to another server. Just make sure the URL you create on the fly matches the action on the receiving server.
    This link is for Struts 1.3. However, the concept certainly exists in Struts 2.x as well. [http://struts.apache.org/1.x/struts-core/apidocs/org/apache/struts/action/ActionForward.html]

  • Method oadbtransaction not found while running jsp page

    Hi all,
    We are trying to use the below method in jsp, but when are trying its giving error as the method OADBTransaction is not found in corresponding directory, can you please let us know from where we need to download this method from server so that we can run the jsp page from local directory.
    Thanks in advance.
    AppsContext context = ((OADBTransactionImpl)getOADBTransaction()).getAppsContext();
    Regards
    Deb

    Deb,
    To get the object of AppsContext we use following code in jsp
    import      = "oracle.apps.fnd.common.WebAppsContext"
      WebAppsContext wctx = null;
      int userId = 0;
      try {
                  if (Utils.isAppsContextAvailable()) {
                      wctx = Utils.getAppsContext();
                      userId  = wctx.getUserId();
      catch (Exception e) {}Regards,

  • How to convert a .jsp page in to the .txt page with a click of the button

    Hi Sir,
    Here the main thing is that in order to print a web page(.jsp page) in dotmatrix printer i need to first convert that webpage (.jsp page) in to .txt page.But my doubt is that can you convert a .jsp page in to .txt page with a click of a button so that whatever there in .jsp page has to be completely transferred in to .txt page if so then in that .txt page i need a button when i click it the page need to be send to the printer without using the file menu print option.First i need to know whether it is possible in java?If so please do help me by providing the exact code.If it is not possible in java pls.do provide other option.It is very urgent.Thank U.
    Regards,
    m.ananthu

    We can convert a .JSP page content into a .txt file by using MIME type conversion. In this scenario we cannot provide a button, because its an .txt file (not .JSP).
    If you want to print JSP content into a .txt content along with a button to print that page can also be done.

    static boolean exists(String URLName){
      try {
        HttpURLConnection.setFollowRedirects(false);
        // note : you may also need
        //        HttpURLConnection.setInstanceFollowRedirects(false)
        HttpURLConnection con =
           (HttpURLConnection) new URL(URLName).openConnection();
        con.setRequestMethod("HEAD");

        HttpURLConnection con =
           (HttpURLConnection) new URL(URLName).openConnection();
        con.setRequestMethod("HEAD");
        return (con.getResponseCode() == HttpURLConnection.HTTP_OK);
      catch (Exception e) {
           e.printStackTrace();
           return false;
    String a="http://www.google.com";
    %>
    <%= exists(a)%>and i want to see in my jsp page the result.. it means that JSP page shows
    TRUE
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi there,
    One solution is to use JavaBeans and call the methods for the JavaBean from the JSP page.
    Suppose you have a JavaBean called TestConnectionBean as follows:
    package test22;
    import java.net.HttpURLConnection;
    import java.net.URL;
    import java.net.MalformedURLException;
    import java.io.IOException;
      Set the testUrl before checking if connection exists.
    public class TestConnectionBean {
        String testUrl;
        boolean connectionExists;
        public TestConnectionBean() {
        public String getTestUrl() {
            return testUrl;
        public void setTestUrl(String testUrl) {
            this.testUrl = testUrl;
        public boolean getConnectionExists() throws IOException, MalformedURLException {
            HttpURLConnection.setFollowRedirects(false);
            // note : you may also need
            //        HttpURLConnection.setInstanceFollowRedirects(false)
            HttpURLConnection con = null;
            con = (HttpURLConnection) new URL(this.testUrl).openConnection();
            con.setRequestMethod("HEAD");
            return (con.getResponseCode() == HttpURLConnection.HTTP_OK);
        public void setConnectionExists(boolean connectionExists) {
            this.connectionExists = connectionExists;
    }Then you can create a JSP page like this:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" language="java" %>
    <html>
      <head><title></title></head>
      <body>
      <jsp:useBean id="testConnectionBean" class="test22.TestConnectionBean"/>
      <jsp:setProperty name="testConnectionBean" property="testUrl" value="http://www.google.com" />
      <br/><br/>
      Does the connection exist for http://www.google.com : <jsp:getProperty name="testConnectionBean" property="connectionExists"/>
      <br/><br/>
      <jsp:setProperty name="testConnectionBean" property="testUrl" value="http://www.thisURLdoesntexis.com" />
      <br/><br/>
      <%-- The following will give an exception : java.net.UnknownHostException: www.thisURLdoesntexis.com since the URL doesn't exist.
      --%>
      <%--
      Does the connection exist for http://www.thisURLdoesntexis.com : <jsp:getProperty name="testConnectionBean" property="connectionExists"/>
      --%>
      </body>
    </html>The output you see looks like:
    Does the connection exist for http://www.google.com : true
    I think it is better to handle the exceptions in the JavaBean itself, so now yyou can change the method signature of getConnectionExists , remove all exceptions from method signature but handle them with a try/catch inside the method itself.

  • How to disable a JSP page caching?

              Hello there,
              How do I can disable a JSP page caching? This is becoz when the first time i ran
              a EJB calling from a JSP, it works, but after the second time, it unable to call
              the same EJB again, I double check the console and the database, the same records
              does not appears after the second calling, i suspect is caching problem.

    Neo, wls does not cache jsp page by default. We do have a custom tag for
              it as you can see here
              http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/jsp/customtags.html#overview.
