Can't Install AIR-based application
I'm using Flex Builder 3 (OSX 10.5) and AIR Runtime 1. Can
play my app in Flex just fine without errors/warnings. Publish to
AIR file and it won't install on any of 3 windows boxes I've tried.
I can install the same AIR app on Mac OSX (on which I'm running
Flex) just fine.
Exact error experienced comes after you tell it where to
install & to create shortcut, etc. Gett this: "Sorry an error
has occurred. The application could not be installed. Try
installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the
application author. Error# 0" [CLOSE]
I suspected a corrupt project or something since a new MXML
app with just a hello world text box in it wouldn't install either,
though it too played fine in Flex.
Created new project & could install hello world app
published from there. Copied all key src into new project &
exported Release Build but once again this wouldn't install on
Windows. Deleted all src except for hello world text file and now
it won't install.
Tried publishing Release Build from another mac with Flex
Builder 3 and got same issue.
Tried uninstall/reinstall AIR runtime on windows box (as well
as latest install on a different windows box) and that didn't help.
The weirdest thing is that all of this worked fine yesterday
and Release Builds published then still install on the windows
machines.
Tracked down the issue. Apparently I had a folder which
accidentally had a period (.) at the end of the folder name. This
didn't cause any hijinx on Mac OSX's HFS+ file system, but lost its
period (i'm assuming) on the windows machines I was trying to
install in. I can only assume it did a crosscheck to ensure all
files copied, saw the mismatch, and threw the error.
Certainly the error should be more descriptive or the export
Release Build function should have seen it as a cause for alarm
during publish.

Hi , I brought an I pad air 3 months ago. But recently I can't install any application and can't update any application. Even I can't install any free application. I can see one dialogue box about in red colors " there is a previous purchase problem please type your bank information correctly" . So I don't know what to do please help me. Thanks
The message implies that a previous purchase may not have been paid-for due to problems collecting the money from your account. Have you tried logging into your account and updating/changing your payment details (tap on your in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your iPad and tap 'view Apple id' on the popup and sign into it) ? Until there is an accepted payment method on your account (credit card, redeemed iTunes gift cards) and what you owe has been paid then you won't be able to download anything (including app updates).

Can we install AIR files on Android?
Can we install AIR file on an Android device with AIR runtime installed? I have tried publishing APK and it works. If yes, what is the difference between publishing it as an AIR app and publishing it as an APK?
If you have administrator privileges on your Archos Tab you can try to side-load the AIR installer onto your Archos from your Android phone. Copy the AIR APK from your phone to a location on your computer and then connect your Archos to your computer. Or if you have a directory on the internet you can upload and download, though I don't know the legal ramifications concerning all of this side-loading. You may only be licensed to use AIR on the device on which it was downloaded.
But if you can port your AIR application as a .air file, you might have an extension to your Adobe AIR publication software that allows you to publish an APK file, in which case all you have to do is connect the Archos to your computer and copy the apk to the Archos and install the application, if you have administrator privileges to install applications outside of the Archos market.
Does this make sense? By no means should you "root" your device though because that could void your warranty and also incur other personal damages to you that you do not need to have. -

So I read the topic suggested by Xenus989898 (this one http://forums.adobe.com/thread/782927?tstart=0) where you told to check the /Library/Frameworks/Adobe AIR.framework folder
I just deleted it and then everything work ! AIR installed succesfully.

thank youHello Chris,
thanks for getting back to me. I managed to install the AIR using command line
and -silent -EULAaccepted options. Still having issues with installing Picaboo X
software, but i suppose it's a problem on their side as other apps are installing
without issues

Hi,
I'm sorry you're running into problems with the installer. Was there any additional log information provided? It appears that it's been truncated. When the installer runs, do you see any dialogs, progress bars, or errors? Finally, did you get any errors when you ran the AppleScript?
Thanks,

Can't install air applications anymore...
I'm a flex developer who has been working with air for a few months now. I've been using Air 1.5 and decided to update to 2.0 today. I downloaded and installed and even restarted. Now when I try to open an air application, (ive tried a few) it tell me I need to install air. I click continue and it just sits there. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, restarting, downloading other air apps and rummaging through any log file i can find. I'm running OSX 10.6.3.
Somebody please help!Thank you for responding.
I tried moving, adding and removing languages and logged-out and back in. Same problem. At this point I am not running 1.5.3 anymore. I uninstalled and reinstalled 2.0.3 since the airappinstall.log and airinstall.log files were empty.
At the end of the install, after I clicked finished it then gave me the same error as before:
The only item in the consol log listed is:
8/28/10 1:52:18 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.718961234[190] ([0x0-0x85085].com.adobe.air.Installer[1057]) Exited with exit code: 7
Then, when I double click on an air application (that is already installed), it asks to install (okay?) and it gives my the same error in the log while it sits on the installer.
8/28/10 2:00:43 PM DestroyTwitter 2[1159] NSDocumentController Info.plist warning: The values of CFBundleTypeRole entries must be 'Editor', 'Viewer', 'None', or 'Shell'.
It does this for several applications. -
Can't install air app generated from Flex
Hi, I have just installed the new Flex Builder 3 on my
Windows Vista Home Premium. One of the first thins I did was to
create a very simple air project (one centered button only). I
inmediately exported it as an *.air file to my desktop to see it
run! but it fails!!! Every time I run it, just after display
"Getting ready to install this application" this error ocurs:
Sorry, an error has ocurred. "The application could not be
installed because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR
file from the application author."
By the way, I installed the last air runtime from the net and
installed and run perfectly well some air apps downloaded from the
net.
Any ideas?
LeonardoHi,
I don't have an answer for your question but i think you can answer to my question, so i am using flex builder for my application and i need to test the creation of a folder on my desktop this can't be possible with a browser based application but it is possible with air application, but i don't know how to test an application or how to create an air application with Flex Builder, can you tell me if i have to install something other or to configure flex builder to do this?
Thanks

I've been looking at some of the scripts you posted in other threads. I'm trying to install AIR 2.7 so as to run You Need A Budget. I am having the same issue (Mac OS 10.6.8) and the sample commands that were on the help page don't seem to have worked.
When I tried this command: "sudo chmod -R ug=rwx,o=rx /Applications/Adobe" it said no folder found, though I think that is my fault for having deleted the adobe folder. Will that require additional troubleshooting?
The other commands from the help page didn't produce much of an effect. I have accessed the install log and I can share that with you as needed.
Please let me know what else is required and if you would like me to open a new thread.
Thanks,

Can I install WebCenter with Application Server 10.1.2.0 ?
Hi all
I have installed Application Server R2 10.1.2.0 (Infr + mid-tier)
to deploy some Portals .
and I would like to build & deploy my Applications JSF/ADF + Portlets
using Jeveloper 10.1.3.2 Studio Edition (JDeveloper + ADF + WebCenter Extension)
do I need to install Oracle WebCenter Suite 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.2.0)
with Application Server R2
OR JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 + AS R2 is enough
OR what ?
thanksI think the question was about requirements to create and run WebCenter centric applications and portlets in general. Please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the context of the question about reuse of an existing AS 10gR2 platform? This would only make sense if the existing platform could be used for any parts of the Webcenter application - JSF runtime and portlets. Webcenter has to be setup on a 10gR3 container so you have at least one 10gR3 instance involved - at least for the Webcenter app. So why should you have an interest to mix up your application architecture with a 10gR2 based portlet deployment
Also, if you want to use a 10gR2 container for your portlets you can only build portlets based on a 10gR2 PDK/portlet container. A 10gR3 PDK requires a 10.1.3.1 minimum release of the OC4J. Hence a 10gR2 for portlets doesn't make any sense for a Webcenter application. -

begin quittingI'm wondering if a previous admin on your system has done any of the following that might prevent it?
Administrators can apply the following configuration settings for Adobe AIR running on Windows:
Preventing installation of AIR applications
Preventing installation of untrusted AIR applications
Disabling automatic updates of Adobe AIR updates
These settings are intended for use only within a closed environment, such as an enterprise where an IT administrator controls the end-users systems. These settings cannot be used as part of a native installer for distribution in an open environment.
On both Windows and Mac OS, there are administrative settings for SWF content loaded into Adobe AIR from external sources (outside the application).
Preventing installation of AIR applications
On Windows, add a DWORD value named AppInstallDisabled to the HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Policies\Adobe\AIR registry key, and set the value to 1.
On Linux, modify the AppInstallDisabled setting in the globalRuntime.conf configuration file in /etc/opt/Adobe\ AIR/. For example, set AppInstallDisabled=1 to prevent installation of AIR applications.
If no setting is present or if the value is set to 0, installation of AIR applications is allowed. However, users still need system privileges to install to the application’s destination directory. Also, if system policy prohibits installation via Windows Installer (MSI), that policy is also respected by AIR.
Even if installation of AIR applications is allowed, the following restrictions are observed:
On Mac OS and Linux, to install or update an application, the user needs to have adequate system privileges to install to the application directory (and administrative privileges if the application needs to update Adobe AIR).
On Windows, a user needs to have administrative privileges.
Preventing installation of untrusted AIR applications
On Windows, add a DWORD value named UntrustedAppInstallDisabled to the HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Policies\Adobe\AIR registry key, and set the value to 1.
On Linux, modify the UntrustedAppInstallDisabled setting in the globalRuntime.conf configuration file in /etc/opt/Adobe\ AIR/. For example, set UntrustedAppInstallDisabled=1 to prevent installation of untrusted AIR applications.
If no setting is present or if the value is set to 0, installation of untrusted AIR applications is allowed. However, users still need system privileges to install to the application’s destination directory.
An AIR application is trusted when it has been signed with a certificate that is trusted, or which chains to a certificate that is trusted on the installation computer. For more information, see “Code signing” in the Adobe AIR Security white paper (http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_air_security_wp_en). -
I'm having the same problem as others here.
Windows 7 64 bit
can't get AIR to work with other programs, such as MArket Samural and Tweetdeck.
All was working OK until I upgraded AIR now, I get error messages from all programs that use AIR.
It's TOO frustrating.
Can anyone help please?
I just can't seem to uninstall it properly even using the -uninstall.
I've emailed support for the other programs but the fault is with AIR.
Thanks
ShirleyHi Chris,
I've got everything working now but I had to uninstall AIR 2 and reinstall version 1, I'm scared now to let AIR update/upgrade in case I go back to square 1 again.
