Can't listen to some songs on my iPhone 5 that can be played on my iTunes

After updating to the new iTunes and shnchronizing my phone, some of the songs on my phone have the stop sign (pinkish square) to their right  and I can't listen to them. They're in my library on iTunes and I can play them there, just not on my phone.

Thanks for the suggestions, but they didn't work. This is what appears.

  • Itunes doesn't allow me to send some songs to my iphone or allow me to play them?

When i drag and drop some music files on my itunes it doesn't allow me to play or send the song to my iphone? The song details are shown in a light grey with the 'refresh' like button the very left hand side.

I had a problem getting any calendar events after a hd failure and reinstall. Someone here told me to try this and it worked!
    1. Launch iTunes - Preferences - Devices - Reset Sync History - Confirm - Give it 1 min. You may or may not see a progress bar. Ensure Outlook is closed when you do this.
*Now go ahead and sync Outlook Calenders to iPod
    2. Attempt to try and sync using the different USB Ports in the system and see weather or not syncing takes a bit longer and actually copies information over
    3. If you are able to Restore the iPod as a new iPod so it has a fresh info.. And sync everything to it like it is the first time.
    Hope it helps!

Some of my songs didn't transfer to my cloud.  How do I put these songs on my iphone so that I can listen to them in addition to the songs that made it to my cloud?
Right now, I can't transfer songs from my laptop to my iPhone unless I turn off iTunes Match 1st.  Once the songs are on there, I turn iTunes Match back on, but then the songs that I just transferred over dissapear...
    Please help!

I'm having the same problem, some of my songs will transfer but not all of them. It seems there are alot of people having this problem and apparently Apple doesn't know how to fix it. All my songs were purchased through itunes so they all should upload to any apple device. Sorry I'm not any help, maybe Apple can finally do something about it.

You have posted to the iTunes Match forum, which your question does not seem to be related to. Is your question concerning iTunes Match or syncing with iTunes via USB?

My computer says it can't copy some songs to my iPhone because my computer isn't authorized, but it is.

    Hi Sonnova,
Do you happen to have more than one Apple ID? If you've authorised your computer using the one you're signed into then the most likely cause is that the iTunes purchases were made on another Apple ID.
To check you bought them on the Apple ID you're signed into, you can go into iTunes, click on Store and View My Account. From there you should have a Purchase History option where you can check the songs were bought on that account.
If you have another Apple ID then try to sign into that one (sign out of current one and into new one under Store in iTunes), then Transfer Purchases again and you should have no issues.
    Hope this helps.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you made a Time Machine backup before deleting the applications, you can recover them from your backup. Just go to the Applications folder, and open the Time Machine app, so you will be able to recover the applications just navigating through your backups.
However, there are some applications that won't work after doing this, because they require other system files. In this case, you will have to download the apps again from the Internet and install them using the installer

  • I Trashed Some Song Files from my Computer that Had Been Previously Matched, and Now iTunes Can't Located Them. How Do I Download Them from the Cloud?

The title pretty much says it all. I deleted some songs from my hard drive that had already been added to the cloud using iTunes Match, and now, when I try to play them, I'm asked to locate the files. The songs are still available on my other devices, so I didn't delete them from the cloud. How do I reconect the songs on my computer with the files in the cloud?

Apple provides a brain-dead simple way to backup all your personal data in the form of Time Machine that keeps incremental backups going back at least several weeks, if not months (depending on the size of the backup drive). Why more people don't use it is a puzzle to me. In this day and age of person, and very important, data being digitial (sometimes exclusively) backing everything up becomes imperative. Ideally a good backup scheme should incorporate multiple backup solutions in case of very serious emergencies, but for most people, and in the case described in the OP TM is a very good solution. If a file is deleted, then found to be needed again, just go to the date and time in TM just before the file was deleted and restore it. Simple. But it doesn't work if you aren't backing up. So... backup, backup, backup. You'll thank yourself that you did when you finally need it.

    Hey renie1515,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
When you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID. This article describes how to manage these associations.
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627
Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days.
Note: Removing a device from your Apple ID does not override the 90-day timer. You must wait 90 days from the day the device was first associated with your Apple ID before it can be associated with another Apple ID.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • My "plays" aren't updating when I listen to a song on my iPhone or iPod

When I listen to a song on my computer, the coloumn that counts the number of plays updates. But if I've listened to a song on my iPhone or iPod and sync it to my computer, the coloumn doesn't update. Is there any setting I can change so that it will?

Did you verify with your friends that they are running iOS 5 or later and have registered and set up iMessage on their devices?

  • I have some songs in my iphone i don't put there.

why i have some songs in my iphone that i don't put there. and i even can't play them but they apeear.

This usually happens when you have songs in your iTunes library that iTunes can no longer find the files for. Look for the greyed out songs in your iTunes library and delete them and then re-sync. They will likely have "!" next to them.

  • I have songs on my iPhone 6 that I can't remove and when I plug into iTunes and go to "Summary" and "On This Device" the songs don't show up but they are on my phone. How do I remove them? Not even sure how they got on actually.

I have songs on my iPhone 6 that I can't remove and when I plug into iTunes and go to "Summary" and "On This Device" the songs don't show up but they are on my phone. How do I remove them? Not even sure how they got on actually since I have a iTouch and keep all my music there. HELP!!

Have you tried deleting the songs from Settings?
Settings -> General -> Usage -> Manage Storage (not the iCloud link!) -> Music and then click Edit to enable you to be able to delete.

After upgrading to IOS 7, I can only transfer songs to my iPhone 5 that I bought on iTunes. I cannot transfer songs I burned from CD. When I drag them to my phone in iTunes, my phone appears to be updating, but the songs don't show up there.
    I'm using IOS 7.1.2 and iTunes 11.3.0.54. WIndows 7.
    Thanks.

This has worked for many folks according to the feedback I have gotten:
Un-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

    Hello audreywisc,
Songs can be removed from your iPhone by tapping 'Songs,' then swiping the song, then tapping Delete.
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

Can I play my purchased iTunes TV shows on my Sony TV?

You need an AppleTV connected to the TV via HDMI to do so unless you want to connect a Mac/PC running itunes, iPhone or iPad to the TV.
