Can't read address bar/tab title/etc. -- black bar issue on Ff4

Please help!
I am using the latest Firefox 4.0 (it says it is up-to-date) as of 3/22/11. This particular machine has an nVidia Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI card (nVidia control panel reports version 258.96). I am running Windows 7 (no SP).
I can't read the address bar or tab names or the search bar, etc. because they are covered by a black bar.
Other text is also unreadable.
Is there any fix for this issue? Thanks for any help you can provide. I would love to enjoy the new Firefox!

Same problem. It appears to be caused by the window border color and transparency in Windows 7 (and Vista, I presume). I changed it by rightclicking the desktop, personalization, Windows color, unclick the transparency box. Now I can see the FF toolbar.
This should not be necessary. It is an error in FF4. Hope they fix it soon.

As far as functionality goes, I don't see anything wrong. when it comes to efficiency you need to keep some general pointers in mind. These issues which I'm bringing up will not affect your code currently since your array sizes are small but can start creating memory fragmentaion and slow down the software if your array sizes are much larger and the software runs for a long period of time.
    1. Try not to use Build Array. Each time you use a built array labview creates a copy in the memory. Try to initilized your arrays and replace the subsets.
    2. as much as you can try not index arrays or unbundle cluster multiple times. try to perform as many tasks as possbile in one shot. (this was evident in your second loop)
    Besides that it's looking good.
I made a few modifications to your code and attached it. I wanted to give you a different take on it as it relates to being able to control the inputs and outputs programitically, if you had a look up table. I didn't make the same modifications to your second loop but I can guide you through what needs to be done if you would like to move in this direction. Again your original code is well done for someone who is new to labview so don't feel like you need to follow the new VI design. Just try to remove the build array and multiple indexing as a good programming habbit.

  • Can I move address bar to different location?

IE allows me to drag address bar to another location (up to menu bar or down). I am assuming this it NOT possible in Firefox? Please confirm.
P.S. I'm using Firefox 3.6.12. Cannot upgrade because I'm on dial-up and my web booster does not support later versions of Firefox.

Why do you still want to go back to Firefox 3.6.x if there is no difference in speed?
Quote: ''I did install a current version of Firefox and, no, it was not faster than Firefox 3.6 with the web booster enabled.''
If you want to use Firefox 3.6 then at least use the last 3.6.28 version and not an older 3.6.12
    *https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/latest-3.6/
Current Firefox versions have a much larger disk cache (350 MB in multiple folders for faster access) compared to Firefox 3.6 (50 MB), so you should be able to store much more data on your computer.

  • Can only see address bar.

When I open Safari the only thing that comes up is the address bar the rest of it just sort of disappeared (I see my wallpaper not the internet). Google Chrome is showing the whole image so it's just Safari. I'd post a screen shot but I don't see any option to do so.
What's going on and how do I fix it?

    HI,
That problem is usually due to a third party Safari plugin that isn't compatible with the later versions of Safari.
Follow these paths. You may have the Conduit/Community Toolbar installed.
    /Library/Application Support/Conduit
    /Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
    /Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg
    /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
    /Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
    and possibly here; Library/launchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist

  • Can URL in address bar be automatically selected?

I'm slowly transitioning from Windows browsers like IE and Firefox to Safari on the iPad.  One of the things that it's taken me a while to get used to is that in Windows browsers when you click or keystroke to the address bar, the URL that was in there is automatically selected.  So when you start typing your new URL it automatically writes over the old URL without you having to manually delete it. I see that in Safari the old URL is not automatically selected when you tap the address bar, so if you want to delete what's currently there you have to manually tap the 'X' on the right side of the bar.
Is there a setting somewhere that regulates this behavior? I'd much rather have the default be that the text is automatically selected so I don't have to manually delete it before I type my new URL.

Unfortunately, there is no setting that allows this on the iPad. It doesn't take a lot of time, once you get used to it, though, to do what it takes to accomplish the same result.
    1) Tap once on URL bar
    2) Tap again and hold for 1 second
    3) Tap on "select all"
    4) Start typing your URL

So recently my address bar has started acting up, I can figure out what it is for the life of me. I backed up my account and then uninstalled firefox, then reinstalled again. The address bar only allows 21 characters, you can type more and the characters still register you just cant see them. Here's a picture to show you guys.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • Combined search and a address bar issues.

    Hello.
I have OS X Lion on my iMac 27", and my MacBook 13.3". On my MacBook there was an update for safari where the search and address bar are combined into 1, and I updated this via Software update. On my iMac, there is no update and I'm stuck with the old boring Safari.
Please help as I keep typing searches into the address bar by accident and it annoys me.
    Thanks in advance.

What is the current setting for the location bar?
    * Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: History, Bookmarks, History and Bookmarks, Nothing
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Location+bar+autocomplete
You can check these prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page and possibly reset them via the right-click context menu to the default value:
    *browser.urlbar.autoFill
    *browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled
    *browser.urlbar.maxRichResults

  • Can developers read Address Book Notes?

Hope someone can help. When allowing an app to read your iOS address book, can the developers read your notes? Or do they only have access to names and emails/phone numbers? There can be a lot of information stored in Address Book such as anniversaries, birthdays, home and work address etc. Is this all open to developers to record? Thanks in advance.

For anyone wondering, it appears developers have access to "everything" in your address book. This includes the Notes section and any birthdays and other important dates you have setup in Address Book.
It would seem logical for Apple to provide safeguards to protect parts of the address book from Developers. Perhaps the ability to restrict them to only phone numbers. Surprised not to hear about this more from privacy advocates.

  • Can't do transitions or save titles, etc?

I have made movies with imovie before. The last time was in May.
    I am using iMovie3, btw.
Anyway, this time around, I can't save titles, do transitions, etc. I have no idea what happened or what i am doing wrong. The "apply" button his not highlighted for me to cllick it when I need to for either of these options.
I can add effects, change time, etc. but nothing else.
    HELP!

    Vanillagenocide,
Seems like you figured out the problem. However, I am a new iMovie (4.0.1) user and I have not been able to add a title to a movie I am currently working on. Basically, the apply button is continually greyed-out and I don't know how to get the title onto a clip or photo. Any advice? Thanks.

  • Safari 4 UI is way too dark, can't read bookmarks bar :(

    Hi guys,
I have an issue with Safari UI. It's just way, way too dark for me. Bookmarks bar is especially hard for me to read. Why is Apple using a dark gray background and black text? It's incredibly hard to read. I don't have vision issues (I have 20/20 vision) and yet I find it straining to even look at the bar for long periods of time. And why don't they allow "favicons" to show up on the bookmarks bar? I think allowing favicons to show would improve usability too.
    What can I do?

Unfortunately, you'll just have to live with it; Apple has made their design decisions for the UI so they are consistent across all (or most) of their applications. If you have a PowerPC Mac, you may want to try Unify to lighten the UI of Safari and other applications. It may not work with Safari 4, and whatever you do, make a complete bootable backup of your hard drive before you install it, and Repair Disk Permissions after that, then restart Safari to see if it works.
Favicons are not cached due to the fact that they occupy a lot of space, and that will slow down Safari, so there is no provision for allowing that at the present time.

  • After resetting firefox, I can no longer search from the address bar

Like the title says I can't search from the address bar "awesome bar" anymore. I just get a 404 error when I try. Searching just lists tons of people getting the "just update keyword.url" answer that's no longer valid. And hasn't been for several years.
I got a browser hijack somewhere. Not sure where, and nothing was installed on my computer so I reset firefox and lost all my search engines. IE was fixed with an uninstall/reinstall. Chrome hates my face and no longer runs. (And google's help is... well if I wanted to be insulted...) I've reinstalled several times. No dice. I've now reset firefox three times. It's just not working. I've ran several virus scanners, ran several malware programs, and even asked my IT department. (They don't care cause IE works and their stupid "virus scan" was clean. I mean it took 30 seconds. What the hell did it actually scan?)
Surely there's a keyword or something that I'm missing that needs to be reset so I can get my address bar searching again.

Current Firefox versions use the default search engine that is set in the search bar as well for searching via the location bar and on the about:home page.
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extension (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extension+and+themes
You can check the connection settings.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

  • Address bar has disappeared

    Can't find address bar

I am not sure what an address bar is, but if you mean the place you type http etc and it is not visible you should do this. Click on view at the top of your screen, then click on toolbars in the drop down menu. If the Navigation toolbar does not have a check mark beside it, then click on that and the navigation should return.

  • Unable to open address bar

I need help. Here is the list of toolbars that are installed on my (latest) Firefox: Wiki, Google and Care2. The thing is I closed them all (together with address bar and favorites bar). Now there is no way I can return the address bar (or any other of the above listed bars for that matter), neither by clicking a right or left click on any place of the area, neither can i find any option to poen in a firefox folder, there is just the blue track on top and tabs list. (I'm posting this via IE). Thank you for your time and a kind help, N.

  • The address bar is not displaying the URL of the page

When I open a tab, I cannot see the URL of the opened page in it. If I enter a new address and press enter, I go to the page. The URL displays the entered URL, but doesn't change for the new pages that load.
Also, the back/forward buttons do not work. I'm guessing it's related to the address bar issue.

Found it! The "Redirect Remover" extension was causing the problem! Thanks for your help :)

  • Conduit search has taken over my address bar.

If I type anything into the address bar, links to bing searches for websites come up. If I make an error in the address, I am sent to bing.
Virus scan finds no issues. Ad-aware puts a Win32 file in quarantine, but it doesn't have an impact on the address bar issue. I have NO add ons, toolbars, or winzip software on my computer.
I followed the directions here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/919624 and my problem was resolved for a few days, now it is back. I haven't downloaded anything new but my computer ran two automatic updates.

Do you display the built-in Firefox search bar? Generally speaking the address bar follows your selection there. By default, the selection is Google (you'll see the lower-case g on a blue square).
To reset your search providers back to their defaults (i.e., Google), you also can use this extension as a one-step solution:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/
And just in case you didn't explore all the categories on the Add-ons page -- which you can access using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
-- make sure to click Extensions in the left column to check for any "Community Toolbar" add-ons which generally are created by Conduit.
    Any improvement?
