Can't record with my MOTU 896 in Audition 1.5 - halp!

I have a MOTU 896 (the old one, not the HD or the other new one), and I'm trying it out again for the first time in about a year.
The MOTU is picking up the mic, but Audition (I'm using 1.5) won't record a darned thing. The computer is recognizing the device. I have the device options set to use the MOTU in Edit Mode, and I have it at the top of the device order. I've tried both the analog and digital options. Nothing.
That's a really expensive piece of hardware to be using as a paperweight, so... any ideas?

Try going to Options>Device Properties>Wave In and set the MOTU to 4 byte PCM and put a check in the 'try as WDM' box. Also, make sure there's a check in 'Use in Edit View'....
My Traveler, which uses essentially the same driver, works fine with 1.5 and these settings.

I need to record 16 tracks, I have two different audio iterface, in GarageBand i can only find one of them, if i go to prefrenses-audio, I can set any of them as my audio interface, but only one at the time.
Any tips to how I can use bouth simultanious? Cubase, Logic mabye, GarageBand no can do? :-)

GB can only record 8 tracks at a time, however that is 16 channels, so with some extra effort you can get the outcome you desire, see the second tip here:

I use iPad 2 with iOS 6 and GarageBand v1.3.
I'd like to play an other app like Sunrizer synth while the GarageBand is recording in the background in a track.
By now I can do it only using the build-in mic of iPad, but this is not the point.
Can I record other apps in a GarageBand track?

I suspect you are probably correct about the reasoning, although there are already a myriad of ways to do that.
Don't get me wrong - I never said I like this. But it is consistent with other Apple applications, that are similar restrictive; you cannot take a screenshot, when dvd-player is running for example.

Problem Recording with a MOTU Ultra Lite

Hi, everyone:
I'm not getting any green bar movement on the audio/recording display. It worked yesterday, but now, suddenly, nothing. Here's the thing: I CAN RECORD. My MacBook Pro is showing a connecton with the MOTU - the meter goes up and down in system preferences. Also, the MOTU is showing a connection with my MacBook - meter on MOTU going up and down.
But in FCP X...no green in recording meter. Yet I AM recording. Difficult to monitor levels, obviously.
I checked the channel (channel 1, mono, only one mic). Everything seems OK.

Can't record with Sound Blaster Live Va

I have a Sound Blaster Li've Value (on-board) card and can't record streaming audio with it. It plays streaming audio fine, and seems to record it, but the resulting wav or mp3 files are "empty", playing them results in silence. I noticed that there was an old thread about this, but I couldn't find a reply. I tried to find out if this sound chip was indeed full duplex, but couldn't find that information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same message error.

I have a Compaq computer and win 98. Ever since we moved, the speakers stopped working.
I tried going thru system properties and Device manager...it shows that the device is working properly. And the Automatic setting box was already checked. I bought new speakers thinking the speakers were bad but I still get no sound. I followed all the steps for Sound Troubleshooting. I did notice when I went to control panel, multimedia, devices, audio...one of the sound cards said: driver is enabled but inacti've due to an unknown problem. But it didn't tell me how to fix the problem?
I don't know how to get the sound.
Can someone help me? I really don't know anything about the computers.

I can import string values but no dates (YYYY-MM-DD). Do you have any clue about that?

hello,
That's the code I'm using to update an opportunity. In the date fields (e.g. dFecha_de_entrega_al_cliente) I've tried to put an specific date in the correct format (If i put it in another format i've got an error message due the wrong format). The CRM accepted the code but it didn't update the values that are different of string.
I don´t know if there is something missing in teh program or if the developer environment is not the adequate.

Now my questions about this player.
How many minutes can i record over voice recording.
Maybe someone can tell me how much Megabytes minute of recording will take.
Are there different quality levels of recording?
In which format does the player save the recordings?

Can I record with an external mic via my DV camera?

I have a recording setup with a prosumer DV camera with an external mic. I have been using the voiceover tool in FCP to record VO, but now I have Soundtrack Pro and want to use that for recording VO. Can I do this? If so how? Also can someone tell me - does Garageband still have a place fro creating custom scores now that I have ST Pro? Thansk

Your Mac does not have a microphone input, only a line-level input (in fact, no Mac has included a microphone input in quite a while). So you'll need 1) a self-powered microphone that outputs line level, 2) a USB microphone, or 3) an external audio device that supports microphone inputs, either a mixer that will give you line-level output or a USB audio input device. One possibility for a USB device that works for many people and that is relatively inexpensive (ca $40.00 US) the Griffin iMic. It works with any standard personal computer microphone.

Can't Record with Audigy 4 Pro - Please He

I've done several searches and read posts until my eyes crossed and haven't found the solution yet so here goes... I've had the Audigy 4 pro card for over a year and tried a couple of times to record but couldn't so I would just go away thinking I would figure it out later... Later is?today. I'm trying to record some of my vinyl (records) onto my computer in 24/96. I have a turntable with a pre-amp connected to the outboard Audigy box into the Line-3 RCA inputs. I can play my albums through the system with no problems at all. Good sound, plenty of volume (same as any other source). I set the recording source in the mixer?as Line-3 and "What you hear", when I go to the Media Source Player to record, the correct source shows up. I hit record, save the file,?and I get no?audio on the resulting file. I tried other output formats (mp3, etc) and still no audio on the resulting file. The monitor bars are checked on the Media Source player and they show no activity during recording. I also tried to record off a CD with the same results. Once again, the system plays fine it just won't record. Thanks for any and all help!

Thanks for the response!?I can't get anything (CD, Wave, Mic, Line) to record at any of the settings (MP3, WMA, 44.-6), The Audigy is set as the Default Recording Device. The mixer is set up with the correct (and unmuted) source on the record slider. I've not tried Wavelab light, is it part of the Creative bundle or do I need to pull it off the install CD??Thanks again for the help.

Can't record with Toshiba DVR D-R410KU

Phasing out my VCR - bought a DVR - Toshiba Model - D-R410KU. I can not get this thing to record to save my life. I can get it to play DVDs just fine. When I try to record I can not see the TV screen either - it's just a blue screen. Should there not be something like with a VCR that is TV/VCR or SOMETHING? I already set the L1/L2 - so I don't think it's that. I am using RCA cables and have cable TV. Any suggestions? I'm really new at this so not sure what info I need to submit for someone to better help me - so if you have questions and need more detail let me know. I would really love to keep this thing - I hate standing in line to return items!! One thing about this DVR - It's not easy to run in the least!!

That just leads me to their tech support which is no help at all! Is there a DVR that anyone knows of that can record without being on that specific channel? I'm taking this thing back - if it's that hard to record then I'll just exchange it.

Can't record with metronome on

I'm using a 20" iMac 1.8GHz g5 with 512mb ram, 40 gigs free on the hard drive and OS 10.3.9. I have garageband 1.1.0 and I am using an M-audio Mobile Pre USB. I have no problem with recording or playback with the metronome turned off. When I turn the metronome on it ticks for one or two beats and then stops recording or playback (which ever I am trying to do). I have already followed the steps for optimizing garageband. Any help would be great. I also get the following warning when i start garageband "Mac OS X MIDI Services not available."
